Chapter 8

While the Wall has been breached, the Survey Corps are outside of Wall Rose, and Captain Levi is slashing all the Titans in his way.

"One to the right..." "Two to the left." Levi observes.

"Captain! I've brought reinforcements." Petra says.

"Petra, tend to the wounded soldiers below." Levi says, "The rest of you, support the right flank. I'll take care of the left." Levi says as he jumps off and fights the Titans, killing them.

Levi looks at one of his fallen comrades, who ask, "W-Was I...helpful to...humanity at all? Or will I die, never having been of any use at all?"

Levi replies, "You have done a great deal. And you will continue to do so. The resolve you leave behind will give me strength. I promise you...I will obliterate the Titans!"

Petra mutters, "Captain, he's gone...'

Levi grits his teeth and asks, "Did he hear me to the very end?"

"Yes. I'm sure he did." Petra replies. "Look. He seems so at peace."

Levi closes his eyes and stands up. Erwin comes and says, "Levi, we're pulling back."

"Pulling back? We have yet to push ourselves to the limit." Levi says. "Are my men dying for nothing?"

"The Titans are heading north, toward town. Just like five years ago, something has happened to the wall, the wall has fallen." Erwin says.

Levi then remembers the girl he noticed back on the streets, he mutters, "Sarah..."

When the group arrives at the wall, they haven't noticed any Titans around the wall. "Strange, I thought the wall has fallen..." Hange says.

Levi blinks. "Wait a minute. It looks like...like something's blocking the hole from the other side."

They notice the boulder and Hange says, "Wow. I guess the Garrison somehow came up with a plan to plug the hole in case of a breach."

Then they decide to meet up with the leader of the Garrison: Commander Pyxis. Erwin asks, "What happened here? I take it the Colossal Titan appeared again, and it looks like the Garrison figured out a way to plug the breach quickly."

Pyxis laughs, "I wish that were the case, but as you can see that's just not possible."

Then they notice the boulder, and they realize the boulder is from the southern part of the town, Erwin asks, "How did you manage to get the boulder there?"

Pyxis says, "The truth is, we didn't move the boulder." He looks down at the boulder. "This morning, about an hour after you all had left, the Colossal Titan appeared out of nowhere, and destroyed the outer gate, much like it had done five years ago. This time, it also took out the wall-mounted cannons. Several of the newest graduates who had been cleaning the cannons rallied and tried to attack the Colossal Titan. However, it let out a cloud of steam, pushing them away, and disappeared as suddenly as it had appeared."

Hange gasps. "How? What did it look like? How hot was the steam? How did…"

"Calm down, Four eyes. Let him continue talking." Levi elbows the section commander.

"As soon as the Colossal appeared, the Garrison immediately got to work, blocking the gate with the iron nets we'd constructed, bringing over new cannons to replace the ones the Colossal had destroyed, and of course evacuating the civilians. We also have new trainees to fight against the Titans swarming into the city, also losing some of our people to them. And after several hours, four Titans show up inside the city."

"Four Titans?" This causes the Scouts to be alarmed. Erwin asks, "What do they look like?"

"According to the new recruits, one of them has wings that can fly into the sky and also has a sharp beak like a bird. It is the one that sealed the gate. There is also one with scales and is capable of summoning the water to attack, one can summon any weather that it wants. And finally, with the roar of the last Titan, all the other normal Titans rush toward him and bow at him, making them an easier target to kill."

Hange says, "Did you say a Titan that can fly? A Titan can control the weather? A Titan that has scales like a fish? And a Titan that basically can control all the other Titans? I have to find the eyewitnesses! I have so many questions! This is fucking fantastic!"

Then she rushes off with Moblit chasing after her. Levi mutters, "Human's first victory is helped by the worst enemy..."

Erwin frowns. "Perhaps. Still, there's a lot about this that doesn't make any sense."

While Erwin and Pyxis promise to talk about some more, Levi's mind immediately turns back to the girl that he wants to meet a long time ago.

That night, everyone is around the fire as they burn the bodies of the ones who died in the battle. While the others are focused on their deceased comrades, Eren and his group of six are now alone.

"It must be hard for them to lose their friends like that..." Aya frowns. "I know some of them are also our friends as well..."

"I know, but on the other hand, they will be able to leave this cruel world." Eren says, "But of all people... Marco Bodt was also killed as well."

"How did he die in the first place?" Katrina asks. "Can your memory see anything about it?"

Eren frowns, "It's simple. Marco was killed by the Warriors since he probably overheard them talking. He didn't understand how the world works, and he had to pay for it..."

"That's why we really need to do the Rumbling and kill every single one of our enemies." Peter glares at the Warriors, who are also kneeling and apologizing for the deaths they caused.

"So what's next?" Mikasa asks.

"Next week is the ceremony of choosing. Aya and I wish to meet Commander Erwin Smith of the Scouts. There's no doubt that the Smith Family are the Holders of the Colossal Titans."

"If he joins our side, then chances of us to overthrow the government are close." Aya says. "And I think I can also find my father as well."

"You know who your father is?" Katrina asks.

"I think I have an idea." Aya sighs.

The next day, the news of the four Titans saving Trost has been spread throughout the walls. The Wall Sina people have been worried since they are afraid the people of Wall Rose might team up with the Titans to fight them. While the citizens of Wall Rose are excited to have Titans on their side.

Rod Reiss was also reading the newspaper and he crumple the paper with anger. He remembers how his sister's husband come to the chapel with two other people, and revealed themselves to be from outside the walls, and then they stole the Founder and kill all of his children. He has suspicions that his sister is also with this. He has to find a way to get the Founding Titan back.

He also remembers his sister having two children, maybe he can brainwash those two children to think their parents are evil so that they can use the Founder, or he can have his illegitimate daughter get the Titan back. No matter what the outcome is, it will be beneficial for him. Or is it?

It is the time when the new recruits choose the regiment. When Erwin takes the stage, after explaining the recent attack of the Colossal and Armored Titans, and about the new Titans that appear to save the Trost District, it is time for the new recruits to choose if they want to stay or not.

Eren looks around and whispers to Aya, "Looks like the ones who stayed are still the same as the memories we saw. Except that I'm standing here among the other recruits."

"If you were ordered to die, could you do it?" Erwin yells, and one of them yells back, "We don't want to die!"

"I see," Erwin smiles. "I like the looks on your faces." Then his voice becomes louder and stronger, "Now then, I welcome all of you to the Survey Corps! This is a true salute! Offer up your hearts!" He salutes.

After some of them seem to be scared and panicked, Erwin adds, "You've done well to endure your fear, you are brave soldiers. You have my deepest respect."

When the ceremony begins to close, everyone is about to leave, but Aya and Eren manage to get to Erwin in time. "Commander Erwin." The two of them salute, and Erwin asks, "Is there something you need?"

"Yes sir. There's something I need to talk to you about. Privately. Where no one else can overhear us." Aya says.

The other Scouts look at them curiously, while Erwin is scrutinizing them.

"You two must be the Number 2 and the Number 3 of the Training Corps: Aya Neumann and Eren Yeager, is that right?"

"Yes, sir." They both say in unison. Erwin says, "Before I agree to come with you two. I want to know, what are your intentions?"

"Our intentions are simple. We want the help from the Survey Corps to destroy our enemies." Aya adds, "Although we wanted to talk to you alone, to prove that we don't mean any harm, it would be better if Lance Corporal Levi joins in as well."

Erwin turns to Levi, who sighs, "Fine."

A little while later, the four of them are now on top of Wall Maria. Levi notices the locket around Aya's neck, he asks, "Oi, brat. What is that around your neck?"

Aya asks, "This? My mother said this locket was from my father, but I have never seen him once in my life."

This causes Levi to widen his eyes in shock, and he asks, "What is your mother's name?"

"Levi?" Erwin asks.

Aya frowns and says, "My mother is named Sarah Neumann, she died when I was seven years old, that's why I have been staying with the Yeagers until the attack five years ago."

"Sarah Neumann..." Levi can't hide his own shock, and the news of her death causes him to grit his teeth in anger. Aya notices the face and asks, "Um...did you perhaps know about my mother? I mean, when I was little, she used to tell me how my father is one of the Survey Corps members. That's also one of the reasons I want to join the Survey Corps before Shiganshina District was destroyed."

Erwin says, "So you mean your father is in the Survey Corps, did your mother give you his name?"

Aya frowns, "When she was about to mention his name, she passed away. But I already have a feeling about who my father is." He steps in front of Captain Levi. "Captain Levi, or should I say... Dad?"

Erwin looks at Levi with surprise, but Levi just turns away before Aya says in a hurt voice, "I have always wanted to know... Why didn't you bother looking for me and Mother? Is your duty in the Survey Corps really more important than Mom and I?"

Levi doesn't say anything, he just mutters, "I'm sorry..."

Then Aya rushes to hug Levi, she also yells, "Don't you ever leave me alone again! I have been waiting for 15 years just to meet you..."

Levi can only frown as he hugs her tight, not wanting to let her go.

And here is another chapter, as you can see, Levi and Aya are also reunited as father and daughter. And both Eren and Aya are going to reveal the whole truth about the world in the next chapter. I hope you like this chpater.
