Chief McGrady arrives at the White House to speak with Horace Allen. Horace's father Rod is here as well, the president is not. McGrady assumes the president is busy, between the withdrawel from Afghanistan and the crisis in Ukraine.
.
McGrady: Mr Allen, do I have your permission to speak with your son?
Rod: Yes you may question him.
McGrady: Horace, did you speak with Karen Schmidt tonight?
Horace: Yes. She was scared.
McGrady: About what?
Horace: She was pregnant, and she had an abortion last month. Someone was trying to blackmail her. Karen was afraid what everyone would say if they knew.
McGrady: Did she say who was blackmailing her?
Horace: No, she never said.
McGrady: Did your conversation ever get heated?
Horace: Yes, she got angry and told me to leave. I did, and she was alive when I left.
McGrady: The autopsy says she died within five minutes of when you left, one way or the other. Do you believe Karen might have commited suicide?
Horace: It's possible, she was scared of being exposed.
McGrady: Would she have used a gun?
Horace: No, Karen hated guns.
McGrady: Her hands did have powder burns, but there's also a hole in the wall that could explain it. It also seems unlikely that someone would shoot themselves, and bother with a silencer. Clearly someone went there planning to commit premeditated murder.
Horace: I wish I knew who was blackmailing her.
McGrady: Don't worry. The police department will investigate and bring the murderers to justice. Whoever they might be.

Eric Carter continues to covertly wait for Jones to arrive. He had noticed a bad smell in the trailer, perhaps the trailer was also his drug lab. As Jones arrived at this place it occurred to him, Teddy was planning to blow himself and Jones up, a desperate way to avoid prison and regain his "honor." Carter orders his team to move in and arrest Jones. Teddy tried desperately to shout for Jones to get in, that he could protect him. But CTU arrested Jones. Knowing that all was lost, Teddy lit his match, and his trailer exploded, killing only him.
