Jack Bauer hurries back to where his plane landed, Nina Myers is already there, trying to get on the plane. Jack wrestles her to the ground and holds her at gunpoint. Neither is certain whether he will arrest her or just shoot her on sight. This was a moment of truth for Jack, and he makes his decision.

Jack: You're under arrest.

Nina: You're not going to kill me?

Jack: No, but I can only hope that you'll get the death penalty.

Nina: We're not going to make it back.

Jack: What are you talking about?

Nina: Mason sent you here, didn't he?

Jack: How the hell do you know that?

Nina: He wants me dead, because I know too much. And he wants you dead.

Jack: Why would he want me dead?

Nina: My guess is he fears you know something, something that would lead back to him.

Jack: You're just bluffing.

Nina: Am I? Call him, and watch as we get killed.

Jack knew that Nina was an experienced and skilled liar, and she was just trying to save her own skin. But, he couldn't help but wonder if she was right. He called Mason.

Jack: I have her George.

Mason: Is she alive?

Jack: Yeah, I have her alive. We're about to board the plane.

Mason: We just got reports that the Cuban military is doing a patrol of the area, they'll shoot down any plane they don't recognize.

Jack: George we can't wait here for long.

Mason: Just wait five minutes, maybe ten. I'll let you know when it's safe to leave.

Jack: Okay. But if I don't hear from you within ten minutes we're flying away.

Mason: Understood Jack.

Split screens show Eric Carter bringing Jones back to CTU, Kyle Singer listening in on Hekmetyar's meeting, chief McGrady leaving the White House, Jack Bauer waiting at the airport.

Jack Bauer knew that Nina Myers was probably lying, but he couldn't take the chance. He grabbed a handcuffed Nina and ran away from the airpane and into the jungle. Not a moment too soon, because a drone strike soon destroys the plane. Had they been inside at the time, they would both be dead. But now, they were stuck in Cuba, with no idea how to return home.
