Spiders and Snakes

Dear Diary,
The nightmares came to me too. I was at school, still elementary at this point I think. And I shouldn't have been anywhere near the nightmares but I knew Billy. He was the year above me in school. That and my connection to Buffy. I was dreaming about what I saw for months, Mom had to get me a nightlight. See, when I was little I was deadly afraid of spiders. Not those little tiny ones that sneak in through windows, I mean the big spiders. Tarantulas and those massive Australian ones. It's not just spiders either, snakes too.
I was staring at the floor of the classroom. Miss Miller was going on about maps and rivers and something else boring, so I was trying to work out what the brown stain on the floor was. It looked almost like dried blood but it couldn't have been. I was staring, my eyes blurring and then the next thing I knew the floor was moving. There were thin bodies writhing over the floorboards. I screamed. And Aaron looked at me like I was a total weirdo. I thought he liked me but I knew there was no chance now that a) we were all going to die and b) I had just exposed my fear.
Everyone else just looked at me like I was going crazy. Miss Miller stopped talking and asked if I was okay, she'd have sent me to the principal if she thought I was mucking around. But she must've seen the fear in my eyes. I tried not to look down but the urge was too great and I couldn't help it. So I screamed again. Miss Miller was looking really concerned now. So I hopped up onto my chair and stood on my desk. I pointed and shouted, "Miss, there's a whole bunch of snakes and spiders and god knows what else. It's demons I swear it's demons."
I probably did sound completely barmy. Miss Miller walked up to me and told me everything was going to be alright, she took my hand but all I could see were the snakes wrapping themselves around her ankles. "Dawn you can come down now, nothing is going to hurt you." I screamed for her to move but she wouldn't.
Eventually she got me down from the desk and took me to the nurse's office. The nurse thought I was insane, I told her that the floor was just completely covered with them, all colourful and poisonous snakes. The last straw had been when the spiders began crawling up the wall. I told the nurse I was feeling better but she still called mom. I had to explain what happened but I'm not sure how much she listened. Turns out Buffy had called her too and we had to pick them up and take them to the hospital, mom was mad she said they could go in their own time at the weekend, so Buffy hung up on her. I didn't know why until later that night. I wonder what happened to Billy...
