"Pardon" she snapped her book shut and turned around to look at the man and hear his words clearly again, though she didn't mean to, her expression would always remain stone faced with little to no emotion. Severus generously repeated his words again, "No I do not have a servant."
She furrowed her brows and looked at him up and up-crossing her arms she opened her mouth-but he beat her to it. "What I do have is house help, it's called a house elf that cleans the house and takes care of it when I am not here. Again, I repeat, it's not a servant but a house elf." He did not want her to abuse that creature as bullying had never sat right with him, his past was a clear reminder of that man that he was today.
She narrowed her eyes and in a extremely closed of voice said her words that made him aware of just who her mother had been, "I do not posses the ability to spew venom and hate a creature just because it is weaker compare to me." Clearly she somehow understood his words and this also reminded him that Josephine would never teach her daughter to be weak or to bully someone who was weak, he doubts she even spoke to Dorothea about these kinds of things. He looked at her hand, no doubt the influence of the books.
They both were lounging in the living room/library where she had taken up a comfortable chair in the left next to the fireplace and had cozied herself down to not even get up for a bathroom break. She had been there since 7 in the morning and it was close to 11 AM now. Almost lunch time. He had taken the liberty to come down here to join Dorothea for lunch and dinner. It was the third day of her living in the house and up till now, Severus muses, it couldn't have been anymore perfect or peaceful.
She would ask him some questions and make small talk where he would appropriately reply or nod along with, today she had asked the question of how he knew about her daily routine and who exactly was responsible for the tasty meals throughout that day. Mipsy, his elf had been hiding himself down in the basement because he wasn't yet ready to show himself to Dorothea. He didn't comment on it.
"His name is Mipsy." She raised her eyebrows in amusement and a few seconds later he saw her smile and before he could realise she had already shouted his name, "Mipsy!"
Mipsy at once popped up into the living room and with belated understanding realised that he wasn't yet suppose to reveal himself to the new human in the house. But….he already had and the little human master was now staring at him with big dark chocolate eyes-maybe he can make chocolate later for the little master-and his musings stopped as he saw the human, almost his height standing in front of him.
"Hello" she put her hand out, "my name is Dorothea-" Mipsy nodded his head, "Mipsy knows-little master" she snorted, of course she s a little master. "Thank you for making me the most amazing chocolate chip cookie yesterday. It was yummy."
Mipsy's ear flapped happily and a smile bloomed on his face and soon enough Severus saw him following Dorothea from room to room as they discussed the layout and criticised Severus's voice of carpets and furniture.
He raised his eyebrows, maybe..he mused it wasn't that bad having a child. His initial worries had long been buried deep inside and he hopes that Josephine is happy seeing him take care of her daughter. She was the only person in his life other than Lily-her name still made his heart race with guilt and gratitude-who provided him silent comfort and peace when he would desperately need it. From the death eater raids after high to making the most vile potions of all times-she would always be there with a cup of tea and her presence to calm him down.
He closed his eyes and let himself be relaxed, the murmurs of the two other residents of his house softly echoing in his ears.

Luna peered up at the girl who was two years older than her-yet they were of the same height-and saw a lot of knezeles jumping around her head. She dreamily gave a smile to them and saw her cousin-Dorothea-amusingly giving a smile back. She wasn't judging her-Luna's head tilted-she wasn't like Ginny or the other girls who would sometimes still look at her weirdly-or her mother who would also dreamily smile back. She was amused by her smile and well-what what, she pounced.
Severus only heard a cash and saw his new ward lying down on the ground with Xenophilius's daughter, Luna happily nuzzling into Dorothea's body. Before he could sneer and insult them he saw, Salazar's spirit, Dorothea gathering the little girl and then tickling her and somehow it turned into a tickle match. The tickling match moved onto a pillow fighting match and then in between a juice break they moved on towards the garden and managed to dirty their feet chasing ducks from a nearby lake.
Moronic dunderheads both of those girl, though he was a little proud because the first game was won by Xenophilius daughter but the other two Dorothea emerged as a winner with a victorious smile.
"Bye" Dorothea shouted and Luna waved back with equal vigour and they soon landed back in their home.
"It was so fun and especially the little games that they had in their living room. You should buy them too, I can at least have something to do other than read books…" for the whole dinner Severus had his ear chewed off as he listened to her speak on and on about how much fun she had and how she was going to invite Luna to their house-their house?-next time. He could only give a curt nod and just warn her to not dirty the house and increase Mipsy's workload.

"The wizarding world doesn't have a cafe?" She muttered with disbelief. Somehow she had learned that emotion from her mother's overly dramatic charterer mother who would often use them to amuse the people around her, out of topic but yeah there weren't much cafe around-she checked the map-Diagon Alley or Hogsmade. She had found the map of both of these places in an enchantments book inside the drawer of a bookshelf and had taken up to mark all of them. Surprisingly she didn't find any actually cafe that was dedicated to say tea or chocolate.
She checked again and-an ice cream cafe, a cafe for normal lunch and another one for private dining. Hogsmade technically should attract a lot of investments- "it was where all the young people came to spend time after all!" She muttered to herself, "there was a small amount of residents-around 15 families that lived there and hardly around, she checked again, "6 shops that dealt with small business like a cafe and a restaurant, a small come and go store with knickknacks and other stores that sold flower and owned a ranch."
Huh!
She continued with her small paintings and looked at the side-up till now he had made 7 of them and as the book instructed her she had concentrated on her core and the only way to do that was meditation. As she sat on the floor in a cross crossed position she let herself feel the magic inside her, it felt calm and soothing but also…….protective. She felt the wave roll out through her body and soon enough the magic sparkled in the room. With a gasp she lost concentration and looked down and gulped.
"So beautiful" she murmured, the mermaid in the picture smiled at her while taking a sip in the water.
For the rest of the morning her head buzzed with this information of the chocolate and as she sat down on the table to have lunch she saw a chocolate pancake that she had requested Mipsy to make for her, this time she was all alone, she blinked up owlishly at Mipsy and he in return also blinked up at her-bug eyes closely resembling a corpse-and then a thread got connected to her mind-one that could potentially have her vault full of galleons. She laughed out loud and Mipsy still confused also laughed with her.
This was going to be fun.
Dear Severus,
I recently read a book called 'How to get away with murder' and in that I came across the idea of killing a person to steal there business idea. Then I also acquired a map of all the businesses in Hogsmade-yes the one you had hidden in the book, and realised that I could earn money by simply doing something so simple yet so meaningful. For that idea to work you have to come tonight or have dinner with me, don't try to deny or potentially leave me hanging as this could result in me and Luna having a sleepover and potentially getting your potion room to blow up. Just saying that it's a possibility. The menu for tonight is Roti, Paneer Tikka and Chaas.
Your lovely ward,
Dorothea.
Back at Hogwarts the students for the first time were able to see Severus Snape for unknown reasons releasing his rage and terrorised students enough for them to spend the rest of the day in poppy's care.
That same night Dorothea in the dead of the night held a pouch of galleons close to her heart and slept with a dreamy smile on her face. The kneezels jumped around her head with vigour and happiness.
~
Xenophilius looked up at the small cottage with over green leaves and bushes-while Dorothea at the side conversed quietly with the owner.
"150 galleons is my last price." The woman with red hair muttered, Dorothea irritated my snapped back mimicking Severus's best expression, "Ms. Bluette' this property doesn't even have a single ward in place, not to mention the pathetic condition of the furniture's and roof. Considering the fact that you're asking a price of 150 galleons the clients should at least find some good thing shouldn't they?" She gave a sarcastic smile back. The owner alternated between the shades of blue and red and finally agreed on a price of 120 galleons.
Luna skipped around the property and looked at the plans-she loved plants-and soon enough got to work to make flower crowns for her father, herself and Dorothea. The Lillies look especially impressive when blended down with the green grass.
On the other side, Ms.Bluette' finally relented against the 6 soon to turn 7 year old and both signed the contract and soon enough Dorothea held the key to the e house that would soon turn into a cafe. Her and Severus had argued a lot over the letters about the location, he said that she should first open up in Diagon alley while she disagreed because property prices there was extremely expensive. Hogsmade wasn't on the other hand and they could earn a lot of money from the kids first before moving to Diagon,it wasn't as if someone was going to steal their recipes. The elves had no reason to sell them out, especially not because she treated them very well.
The argument had at one point got so heated that Severus had simply sended her a two way mirror where he had continuously attacked her intelligence and in return she had counter attacked his choice of wardrobe simply because she had no other defence. But well all's well that ends well and now she had a property to start with.

A small building decorated cozily at the end of the lane made a lot of student pause their steps and look at it curiously. It was a small building, barely a floor was there and yet it looked pretty cozy from far away. "It wasn't there before," his friend said and there seemed to be a board beside it too. They went ahead, hands tucked in closely towards the sweater and let their eyes wander over the board. Chocolate chip, pancakes, vanilla buttercream….deserts! His mind clicked. Again they looked at each other and after shrugging their shoulders walked in there.
Mipsy and three other elves hurriedly worked as more and more orders came in. Their kitchen was located in the basement of the cafe. It was hidden away and made the elves work more comfortably. There was a person that sat on the counter and took orders of the students sending the parchments down to them and they would them prepare and it and click their fingers to send it upstairs from which they would then be floated and would reach their respective tables.
February 23, 1985. It had taken her more than fifteen days to go through a lot of decorations before she selected the furniture and the design of the cake shop or cafe. She named it Vandeleur Cafe because why not-the building had previously been a residence but was quickly sold to her due to the resident needing money. The elves had been a huge help. She had bought 3 more due to not wanting all the burden falling into Mipsy and they had helped her to make the place.
The cottage/cafe had overgrown greenery that she had fallen in love with, a cozy balcony and a floor made of wood. She had set up a small reception and two bookcases alongside some cushion chair and tables and voila everything was ready. Hiring hadn't been a huge problem because Severus had arranged for a Hufflepuff graduate to work here.
And well after this it was today-the opening, and the stream was continuous, curious students came in first followed by those who were informed and now it's already been 6 hours and everyone left satisfied. The dishes had a little magic in them enough that they weren't considered muggle dishes but enough mix of potions and chocolate that they were considered the best thing in Hogsmade.
By the end of it Severus Snape came through too and saw his ward happily counting the many earned galleons and sickles at the reception and grinning at him like a greedy old lady. He snorted. "Let's get this money in your vault shall we?" He droned in a taunting voice. Her eyes sparkled and she looked at him while asking, "You'll take me to Diagon Alley?" She was awarded with raised eyebrows that insulted her intelligence and she quickly jumped down but Severus did a tut-tut and caught her dress before she could fully off, "Before that-you'll have to pay me back of course."
"NO! NO!" She struggled but alas had to pay back with 2% interest to the cruel person in front of her and for the month of February her vault remained empty and her mood sour whenever she would look at her many earned galleons and back at the man she would have to pay it all too.
By March it was all normal, a steady source of income for her had made her ecstatic and joyful and Severus finally muttered to himself in a wishful voice, "At least she isn't faking those feelings anymore." Luna and Xenophilius would often come in the shop to buy the little pancakes and cookies and would insist on paying. She hadn't invited any of them to this house because it isn't her choice, she news that Severus is not that happy to associate himself with the Lovegood and had calmly accepted it before shrugging on and moving into more interesting things in life. She didn't know about him being a death eater but she could see that he had a dark past.
Business was well worth whatever she had invested in and she was glad that every single sickle was now deposited into her vault. She held the potions book tightly into her hand and scratched the cover, it was titled 'Interesting Advances of Potions and Enchantments.' She found it really fascinating-now all that was needed was for her to buy a small potion kit for beginners. She was especially curious about the colour changing potion and wondered if somehow she could turn the temporary status into a permanent one.
