A/N: Thanks for the reviews.
Jim: The notification seems to have broken, but I am planning to post everyday.
As Kara walked with the older Alex and J'onn through the park the next day she saw Frax waiting. On seeing them he carefully approached.
"Thank you for meeting me." Frax said before noticing the teenager wasn't there. "Alex is not with you?"
"No. She is still deciding if she wants to see you again." Kara said.
"I understand. I hope she does. I was very fond of Salkor."
"He was your brother?" J'onn asked.
"Yes. I'm sorry, I did not introduce myself properly yesterday. Seeing the damage you caused to the door shocked me I did not know humans could do that."
"They can't." Kara said.
"I know that now. I took the opportunity to review your, what is the term, factual artefacts? From the Mesh?"
"The net?" Alex guessed.
"Yes." He agreed. "It does not surprise me that Salkor would choose Earth's Guardian."
"Is Alex safe?" Kara asked, caring more about her daughter than her past.
"I sent word to my parents. They have made it very clear to Haldor he will not benefit from harm befalling Alex. But that may not be enough to guarantee her safety. While it seems unlikely he will send anyone else it is possible, so they have asked me to ensure no harm befalls her." He said. "They would like to meet her."
"Whatever happens from this point is up to Alex. Right now she doesn't know if she wants to see you again, let alone your parents." Kara said.
"Did I hurt her?"
"No, but kidnapping isn't the best start to relationship."
"I know. But I really was trying to protect her." He said.
"Why did you need Alex to verify her identity?" The older Alex asked.
"Haldor was about to take ownership of some of the family's assets. If he had completed the process Alex would have lost all claim. But proving who she was the transfer never happened and Alex will gain everything."
"What if Alex doesn't want it?" Kara asked.
"I don't understand."
"What if Alex doesn't want it?" Kara repeated.
"Why wouldn't she?" He asked not being able to comprehend the question.
"Well, all she knows about Dakran is her father ran away from it and then someone from her family hired someone to kill her." The older Alex said.
"Why did Fels, I mean Salkor, run away?" Kara asked.
"I don't know. I have tried to find answers for a long time." He said. "I was hoping you might know."
"I don't." Kara said.
"Well, while I search for answers I would like to see Alex and tell her about her father."
"Right now, Alex needs space and I need to know that she is safe. So if you really do have good intentions tell us about any threats." Kara said.
"Of course." Frax nodded. "And until Alex is ready to see me I will stay out of the way."

"I don't want to sound paranoid, but Frax has something to gain from this. I mean if Haldor loses his claim and Alex turns it down Frax jumps up the pecking order." J'onn said as he and Alex sat in her office later that day.
"I know. But I don't want to say that to Kara or Alex." The adult Alex said. "But while Frax is on Earth I will be watching him very carefully."
"You can't do that alone." J'onn said.
"If Kara finds out you are involved she'll be ticked with you."
"I know." J'onn said before changing topics and asking. "Are you okay?"
"Why wouldn't I be?"
"I don't know. But something seems different." J'onn said. "You seem distracted and … well different, I don't know how to describe it."
"Well I'm worried about Kara. Until I know why her leg flared up I can't relax."
"No new leads on that?"
"No. We can't find anything that should have triggered it."
"Despite what happened she is still incredibly strong. Especially after how she tried to protect Alex." J'onn said.
"I know."

"Hey boss." Ruby said as she walked into Alex's office.
"Everything okay?" Alex asked looking over to her.
"Yeah, I come bearing gifts." She said passing a box to Alex.
"Inhibitors for the kids, less flakely than the prototypes you took on the rescue mission. They should stop any psychic attacks that come their way."
"Thanks." Alex said looking inside. As she looked up again she saw Ruby was wearing the expression she normally wore when she wanted to say something. "What is it?"
"We've been doing a timeline and we think Haldor's goon may have been on Earth for two-three weeks. And we are pretty sure this wasn't his first attack on Alex."
"You are probably right. A few days ago Alex came back with a hole through her clothes, she was probably shot. At the time, the goon probably thought she was half human and the bullet would be fatal."
"What if she wasn't the only one attacked?" Ruby asked.
"How do you mean?"
"What if he made a mistake and got the wrong person?" Ruby asked. "What if Kara's leg incident was due to a psychic attack?"
"Has he said anything?"
"No."
"Then get back to interrogation and find out."
"Me?" Ruby asked confused.
"You are a good interrogator." Alex said. "And if you are right and I go in, it isn't going to end well. Let me know the second you have a confession."
"Yes boss." Ruby said leaving.

"You still want to go?" Kara asked her daughter the next morning.
"Yes, plus MJ would actually kill me if I was the one responsible for him not going."
"He'd understand."
"I don't think he would. It could be the start of a super villain." The teen Alex said.
"I think you are exaggerating, just a bit." Kara argued.
"Not really, but I'm fine going. I want to do something. And the Games Expo sounds fun."
"Okay. But if you want to come home at any point let me know."
"Okay." The teen said before looking at your mother. "Aren't you going to ask?"
"Ask what?" Kara asked confused.
"If I want to see Frax."
"I thought you'd tell me when you had decided. Have you decided?"
"No."
"We can talk it through as much as you want." Kara said. "Whenever you want to talk I am here for you. But that doesn't mean you have to rush into a decision."
"Doesn't Frax want an answer?"
"It doesn't matter what Frax wants. All that matters is what you want." Kara said hugging her daughter.

"Hi guys." Kara said as she, MJ and the teenage Alex entered the lounge that evening holding bags of swag.
"Hi." The teenage Kara called from the couch where she was leaning against Diz watching a movie. "How did it go?"
"Awesome." MJ said before providing a far too detailed account for his sister's liking. When he finally stopped talking the older Kara asked.
"Where's your mom?"
"Not back yet."
"Back from where?"
"Work." Her niece said.
"Did something happen?"
"She said she had lots to catch up on and that she'd be back late. And that you should eat without her. She also said to remind you that it was your day off and to stop stressing. And if she needed anything she would call you."
"Okay. You guys eating here?" Kara asked.
"Sure."
"I'm fine, I'm going to start on the new game." MJ said before looking at his cousin and saying. "You coming?"
"Sure."
When it was just the two Karas and Diz, the older Kara started to feel like a third wheel and said.
"Well I'm going to walk Chewie."

"I was wrong." Ruby said approaching Alex.
"Ruby? What are you doing here? It's Saturday." Alex said looking up.
"I could throw that back at you." Ruby pointed out. "But, as you tell every recruit investigations don't stop for weekends."
"So what were you wrong about?" Alex asked looking up.
"Our guest couldn't have been responsible for the pain Kara felt. He only got to National City after the leg incident. But he did confess to attempting to shoot Alex. He had no idea she was part Kryptonian and thought a bullet would be enough to kill her. When it wan't he moved onto psychic attacks. "
"Attacks? As in plural?"
"Yes. It turns out whatever J'onn has been teaching her gave Alex some protection, forcing him to get a lot closer than he would normally." Ruby said. "But he also warned well threatened he wouldn't be the only one coming."
"How did he find her?" Alex asked. "And how did Frax find him, or Alex?"
"He didn't give a straight answer on that. But I'll keep at it."

"Can we talk about Frax?" The teenage Alex asked once they were back at the apartment that evening.
"Of course." Kara said as she sat next to her daughter.
"Does he want to see me?"
"Yes." Kara confirmed. "He said his parents, your grandparents also want to meet you."
"They are the ones who had you attacked by the truthseeker weren't they?" She asked.
"They were desperately trying to find out what happened to their son."
"That doesn't make hurting you right." The teen said.
"I know. But think how they must have been feeling." Kara said.
"But if Frax was telling the truth Fels or Salkor chose to run away from Dakran and his family. He must have had a reason."
"Right now there are a lot of things we don't know. But if you want to find the answers I'll be with you every step of the way." Kara said.
"I don't. Not right now." The teen said hugging her mother. "I want things to go back to how they were."
"Then tomorrow we will do something, just the two of us. You tell me where you want to go and I'll take us."
