Jennifer Baratta - She won't be gone long, but there will be longer time effects.

"This would be easier if you answered." A man said as he stood in front of Kara, who still felt sick from the effects of Kryptonite, which also stopped the bruises and cuts on her face from healing.

"I can't tell you what I don't know." Kara said.

"Don't lie to me." He said punching her ribs.

"I'm not. I don't know what you are talking about." Kara said trying to escape the restraints.

"On Dakran it is different. We mate for life. Salkor believed in that. And for all his faults he had honour. He would not break that. Nor would he leave his mate with nothing. He will have told you where it was."

"Where what was?" Kara asked, the Kryptonite and pain making it hard to focus.

"I may not have a truth seeker at my disposal, but you will talk. Remember, you brought this on yourself." He said before shutting his eyes and projecting an image into Kara's head.

"Where is she?" Alex asked as she entered the school office.

"All three are in there." The admin staffer said. "We thought it was best to keep her away from other students."

"Thanks, I'll take them home." Alex said before entering the room where the teens were waiting.

"Have you found her?" The teenage Alex asked as soon as she saw her aunt.

"No, not yet." Alex said.

"Do you know who took her?"

"No." Alex replied.

"Then why are you here?" The teen asked, feeling her aunt's time would be better of searching for her mother.

"We think she was attacked with Kryptonite which means whoever took her knew who she was. That may mean you are in danger too. So I need you to stay with your cousins. My team are going to take you home, I need you to stay there."

"Okay."

"Before we go, have any of you seen this person before?" Alex asked showing them an image on her phone. When all three of them shook their heads she stood and said. "Okay, if you do see him, get help straight away."

"We will." Her daughter said.

"Good. Okay, lets get you home and then I will find your mom."

"Alex? What are you doing here?" Frax asked as she and J'onn stormed down the corridor of his ship.

"Someone got Kara." Alex said.

"What do you mean?"

"She was taken, with think by a Dakran." J'onn said.

"Why?"

"Whoever it was knew that Kara was a Kryptonian. There aren't many people who know that. Plus they had teleport technology." J'onn explained.

"You think I was involved?"

"It crossed my mind." Alex confirmed.

"Why would I take her?"

"If it wasn't you who did, why else would someone from Dakran be after her?"

"They may not have been from Dakran." Frax suggested.

"You're right. Do you recognise him?" Alex asked handing him a tablet with an image on.

"It's Duggin." He sighed.

"Another relative?" Alex asked.

"No." He said. When he didn't say anything else Alex said.

"I don't know what is going on with you and your family, but you claimed to want to help Alex. Right now that is helping Kara, and I guarantee that if you don't Alex will never forgive you."

"I don't know why Duggin is here."

"But you have ideas?"

"When Salkor disappeared murder wasn't the only rumour. It happened shortly after a huge robbery."

"I thought your family was rich and Salkor was going to inherit, by would he steal?"

"He wouldn't. But rumours don't care about that. Many stories spread, designed to discredit Salkor or the family."

"But this robbery you think is relevant?" Alex asked.

"It became infamous. The biggest heist in history but at the same time it was never officially acknowledged."

"Why?" Alex asked.

"Because no one would admit what had been stolen."

"Okay, but what was stolen?"

"It is a concept that will be hard to explain. But from what I have read about this planet, an analogy would be keys."

"Keys?" Alex asked.

"Yes. They were meant to be highly illegal digital keys that would allow access to anything. They would be able to break through our top encryption. You could get access to anything. Including materials that could very damaging to very important people."

"So if you have these keys you get lots of money?"

"If you wanted to sell them, there would be plenty of buyers. And as they were never officially stolen no one can complain."

"What does any of that have to do with Kara?"

"She was Salkor's wife." Frax said.

"Pretty sure she wasn't." Alex countered.

"On Dakran we have one partner and one partner only for life. For Salkor to have had a child, Kara was his partner. He would share everything. Including the location of the keys, if he had them."

"So Duggin thinks Kara has that information?"

"That is my guess, but I can't know for sure."

"If you are right where would he take her?"

"I don't know. This planet is as unknown to me as it is to him. But I may be able to find him. In the same way I found Alex."

"Which was?" Alex pressed.

"Easier done from my ship." He said. "This way. I'll show you."

As they entered the bridge Frax said something in an alien language before looking at Alex and J'onn.

"The sensors on this ship are calibrated to detect Drakans. That is how I found the man trying to kill Alex. Duggin is Drakan so I should be able to locate him. But whether or not Kara is with him I can't tell you."

"If she isn't I will make Duggin tell us where she is." Alex said darkly as Frax initiated the scan. As he ran it Frax said.

"The scan will look on the Earth and in space. But it will take a few minutes and we will need to move location."

"Do what you need to do." Alex said. Nodding Frax gave the order to his crew and then they all waited.

After what Alex felt was an eternity Frax finally sad. "I have him."

"Where?" Alex asked. In response Frax hit some buttons and the Earth appeared on the screen before focusing on the location. "I may be able to transport you directly there." He offered.

"Do it." Alex said as she radioed coordinates to the DEO.

"May I come with you?" He asked.

"Sure." Alex said.

"I can offer you some of my crew as well." He offered.

"How many Draxans are there?" Alex asked.

"Just one."

"Then leave your crew here." She said still not trusting him.

"Okay. But we will need something else." He said as one of his crew approached with a box.

"What?" Alex asked.

"Duggin can teleport."

"We know." Alex said frustrated by the delay.

"No, I mean he has a power that allows him to teleport. This device will stop him doing that." He said taking an object out of the box.

As they materialised in a dark room Alex tried to shake off the weird feeling of teleporting and instead listened for danger. Hearing none she followed J'onn down the corridor, Frax remaining a few steps behind.

As J'onn approached a door he heard whimpering from inside and silently indicated to Alex and Frax that he was going in. He then phased through the door as Alex waited ten seconds before opening the door.

When she and Frax entered the room they saw a man lying unconscious on the floor and Kara sobbing in the corner.

Trusting J'onn to secure the prisoner Alex ran to her sister's side. Seeing the Kryptonite she barked at Frax. "Get that away from her."

Securing the device he brought to Duggin Frax then followed Alex's orders as Alex dropped down by her sister's side.

"Kara, you're safe now."

"Not real." Kara murmured.

"I'm real." Her sister promised her. "You'll be home soon."

"No. Not real. Can't be." Kara slurred. "Need her … alive." She said before passing out.

"Kara?" Alex asked feeling for a pulse, sagging in relief when she found it.

"I've got her." J'onn said lifting Kara up. "Do you want her at the DEO or the lab?"

"Take her to the lab." Alex said. "Lena is waiting."

"What about you."

"I'm going to make sure we have all the required information." She said looking at the unconscious Duggin.

-00-

"How is she?" Alex asked an hour later when she entered the room at Lena's lab where her sister was.

"Out of it." Lena said. "She has woken a few times, been completely distraught and then passed out again. Physically there is no sign of trauma. What happened to her?"

"I don't know." Alex said. "But hopefully Frax can shed some light on it. He knew who Duggin was."

"You trust him?"

"No. But he is our best chance to figure it out. And he did help find her. He's next door and I wouldn't mind you giving your opinion."

"Of course. What about the person who took her?"

"Said nothing. J'onn is with him now." Alex explained looking down at her sister whose face implied she was having a nightmare. Suddenly Kara's eyes flew open and she looked at Alex, her eyes full of fear and torment.

"Kara?" Alex asked. "Can you hear me?"

"Alex?" Kara asked.

"It's okay, you're safe." Alex soothed.

"No. No no no no." Kara said. "She's gone." She added crying.

"Who's gone?" Alex asked.

"I failed." Kara sobbed. "Leave me alone."

"Kara?" Alex asked lost.

"Go." Kara cried, her eyes glowing.

"Okay, we'll be outside." Alex said deciding to retreat.

"Do you want me to turn on the red lamps?" Lena asked.

"No. Not after she was exposed to the Kryptonite I don't want to reduce her powers. But can you get red lamps in the corridors, in case she tries to escape?"

"Of course." Lena said as Alex led her into the main lab where Frax was waiting, watching Kara on a monitor.

"What happened to her?" Alex asked Frax.

"She was tortured. I believe Duggin used a forbidden method to try and break her."

"What method?" Alex asked.

"Some of us, like Alex, can project memories. Some of us can project more than memories. They can manipulate the recipient to see what they want to, while believing it is their own memory."

"So you think he implanted memories?" Alex asked.

"Yes. Memories she will believe. Memories she did believe. I think she thinks Alex is dead."

"So we just prove it isn't true." Alex said.

"It is not that easy. Duggin is exceptionally skilful at what he does. I have seen his victims before and Kara will believe the memories are factual."

"When she sees Alex she will know what she saw was false." Alex said.

"No. She will believe what she is seeing is false. I have seen it before."

"If she sees Alex she'll know." The older Alex said.

"I hope you are right. But if you are wrong you will need to protect Alex."

"From what?"

"Kara."

"Kara would never hurt Alex."

"That is true while she believes Alex is Alex, what if she thought she was an imposter?" Frax asked.
