As the older Alex walked into the room, holding her arm at her side, secured by a sling, her niece jumped up and asked.

"Mom?"

"She's safe." Alex said. "But she'll need a bit of time to recover. She's under the lamps now."

"Can I see her?"

"We are just checking there is no more Kryptonite left in her." Alex said. "As soon as we know it is safe you can see her."

"Is she going to be okay?"

"I think so." Alex smiled. "But the last thing I need is your mom to be ticked with me for not looking after you. So I need you tell me the truth. Is there anything else I need to know about what happened to you?"

"I showed you everything."

"Okay. Well, I'm going to run some more tests on your mom. I'll be back soon." She said turning to leave.

"Alex?" The teen called.

"Yeah." Alex said turning. As soon as she had she found herself being hugged by her niece.

"Thank you." The teen said.

"Of course." The older Alex said. "I know it is hard, but try to get some rest." She added before leaving the room. As she walked down the corridor she heard footsteps and turned to see her mother following her.

"She'll be okay." Alex said to her mother.

"How are you doing?" Eliza asked.

"I'm okay."

"Your arm doesn't look it. And you look tired."

"It's been a long few days. But I'm okay." Alex said. "But once I know Kara is stable I'm going to head home and see the kids."

"Alex, sit down." Eliza said as the teen paced up and down the room.

"It's been over six hours." The teen said.

"They are being careful. No one wants to risk exposing you to Kryptonite."

"What if it is something else? What if something happened?" The teen asked.

"Alex would have told us." Eliza said hugging her granddaughter just as the door opened.

"Everything okay?" The older Alex asked, walking in, looking tired.

"How's mom?" The teen asked pulling away from her grandmother.

"We have got all the Kryptonite out."

"Does that mean she is okay?"

"It is safe for you to wait with your mom." Alex explained. "But she hasn't woken up yet."

"Why not?"

"She was badly hurt." Her aunt said. "She needs time."

"Is she going to be okay?"

"Your mom is a fighter." Alex said. "But she'll need time and rest. Right now I don't know when she will wake up, so if you want to go home-"

"I want to see her." The teen jumped in.

"Okay." Her aunt smiled. "Come with me." She added leading her niece and her mother to Kara.

-00-

"Why don't you go home?" Lena asked the older Alex as she entered the main lab a little later.

"Not until I know Kara is okay." Alex replied.

"I could call you when she wakes up." Lena offered.

"It's okay. I'll stay."

"Do you want me to look at your shoulder?"

"It has already been stitched. It'll be okay." Alex said before pointing at the computer and asking. "Everything looking okay in her results?"

"So far." Lena replied. "What's happening with Tycho?"

"We got everyone connected with that facility apart from Tycho. According to J'onn there is not much left of the facility. But while Tycho is out there it still isn't safe. Alex said he knew who they both were. It sounds like the information came from Duggin."

"So what now?" Lena asked.

"No idea." Alex sighed.

"Do you mind if I work up a few plans?"

"Of course not." Alex said. "I need all the help I can get."

As Kara started to wake up she rolled her head and opened her eyes before seeing her daughter fast asleep and being hugged by Eliza on a couch.

"Is she okay?" Kara asked, her voice cracked.

"Sweetie?" Eliza asked quietly looking up, seeing her daughter was awake.

"Alex?" Kara pressed.

"She's fine, just tired." Eliza explained. "She's been too worried to sleep much. How are you doing?"

"Okay I think." Kara said sitting up.

"You need to rest." Eliza warned.

"I'm fine." Kara repeated, wobbling slightly as she got off the lamp bed and moved to the couch.

As she approached the teenager started to stir. Having opened her eyes it took a few blinks to realise her mother was approaching. As soon as she did she called.

"Mom?" Before jumping up and hugging Kara.

"Are you okay?" Kara asked squeezing her tightly.

"I'm sorry." The teen said.

"For what?"

"Leaving you."

"You got help. You saved me." Kara said as she held her daughter.

Knowing they needed space Eliza slipped out of the room as Kara pulled back and asked.

"Are you hurt?"

"No."

"Are you sure?" Kara asked looking for signs of injury.

"It was you who got hurt." The teen said before throwing her arms round her mother and pleading. "Never make me leave you again."

"I can't promise that." Kara said. "All that matters is that you are safe."

"Not to me." The teen said.

"Well, right now we are both safe." Kara said squeezing her tightly.

-00-

"How are you feeling?" Alex whispered to her sister as she entered the room a short time later and saw the teenage Alex sleeping on Kara.

"Okay." Kara replied quietly as she cradled her sleeping daughter.

"You sure?" Alex asked looking for signs that her sister was lying.

"I'm sure." Kara smiled softly. "Thank you. For everything. You did things I couldn't and-"

"I did what I needed to, to keep you and Alex safe." Her sister cut in. "And I will always do that. But if you really want to thank me get some rest."

"You look like you need some too."

"I'll go home soon. But are you going to be okay?" Alex asked.

"I'm fine now." Kara said glancing down at her sleeping daughter. "Do you know what happened to Alex after she escaped? Did they hurt her?"

"I don't think so." Her sister said. "Thanks to Frax we found her pretty quickly. I'm sorry it took longer to find you."

"You kept Alex safe, that's all that matters." Kara said.

"Do you want to talk about what happened?" Alex offered.

"No. Not yet."

"Okay, well get some rest. Mom and Lena are here if you need anything and if anything feels wrong call me. Immediately."

-00-

As Alex entered the house she was met by silence and she assumed everyone was asleep. Seeing a light on in the lounge she entered the room and saw her daughter sleeping against Diz on the couch.

Seeing Alex, Diz gently nudged Kara who opened her eyes and tried to figure out where she was.

"Mom?" The teenage asked. Seeing her mother's arm in a sling and various bruises she asked. "What happened."

"It's over. Everyone is safe." Alex said succinctly as she tossed her jacket on a chair.

"You're hurt." Her daughter said walking over to her.

"I'm fine." Alex assured her. "Just tired. Everything okay here?"

"Yes. MJ is asleep."

"Good." Alex said before asking. "How did it go?"

"How did what go?" Her daughter asked confused.

"Your test."

"Oh, fine I think. You really helped me."

"Good. Anyway, I'm going to check on your brother and then get some sleep." She then looked at Diz and added. "It's late. Why don't you stay here? There's a sofa bed in the study." Not giving him the chance to answer she walked out of the room.

"Is she okay?" Diz asked quietly when Alex had disappeared.

"I don't know." The teenage Kara said frowning.

-00-

"Mom?" The teenage Kara asked entering Alex's bedroom a short time later.

"You okay?" Alex asked from where she was lying on the bed fully clothed.

"That's what I was going to ask you." The teen said.

"Why wouldn't I be?" Alex asked.

"Ignoring the sling, you just kinda collapsed on the bed. You haven't even taken off your boots."

"I'm fine." Alex said. "I just need to sleep." She added. When she didn't hear her daughter leave she rolled her head to the side and added. "Stop worrying about me, I'm just tired."

"What about aunt Kara?"

"Also okay." Alex smiled. "Get some sleep."

-00-

"Did you stay here?" MJ asked the next morning when he saw Diz in the kitchen.

"Your mom said I could stay in the study."

"She's back?" He asked.

"Got back around two." His sister said.

"Why didn't you wake me?"

"There is no waking you." His sister pointed out.

"Where is she now?"

"Bed." Kara said.

"Was she okay?"

"Said she was, but she had a sling. Everyone else is fine as well." Kara added as they heard a phone ring.

"Isn't that mom's ring tone?" MJ asked.

"Yeah, she probably left her phone in the lounge." Kara said walking towards the sound. As she found the phone and saw it was Vasquez she answered.

"You aren't Alex." Vasquez responded.

"No. She's asleep. It's Kara. The younger one."

"Right. Well, I need your mom. She gave instructions to get her as soon as we had something."

"Okay, I'll get her." Kara said jogging up stairs with the phone.

"Mom." She called entering the bedroom. Not getting a response she moved closer and repeated. "Mom." Still getting no response she reached out to shake her good shoulder. As she touched her though she realised her mother was burning hot.

"Something's wrong. She's burning up and I can't wake her." The teenager said panicking.

"J'onn is on his way." Vasquez said. "Can you see anything else wrong?"

"No." The teen said.

"Kara, I need you to check her breathing and heart rate." Vasquez said.

"Her breathing is weird. Short, fast breaths." The teen said trying to find a pulse. "I can't find a pulse."

"If she is breathing she has a pulse. Take a deep breath and look for one at her neck not wrist." Vasquez said calmly.

"Okay, got it." The teen said after a moment. "It's really really fast." She said as J'onn appeared in the room.

"I've got her." J'onn said scooping Alex up in his arms. "I'll be back soon."

"What just happened?" MJ asked rushing into the room, Diz a few steps behind.

"Mom is sick, really sick. J'onn has taken her to the DEO." Kara said.

"This is your fault. Why didn't you see she was ill last night?" MJ demanded before storming off to his room.

"Hey!" Diz called after him, trying to defend his girlfriend.

"He's right she was really tired last night. I should have seen something was wrong." Kara said miserably.

"Your mom said she was fine." Diz reminded her.

"I should have known she was lying. What if-"

"Your mom will be okay." He said hugging her.
