"Mom?" The teenage Kara asked opening her eyes.
"Hey." Alex smiled. "How are you feeling?"
"Sick." She said. "What happened?" She questioned before remembering and sitting up quickly. The movement causing her to throw up.
"Easy." Alex said holding a pan under her. Once she had finished throwing up Alex moved the pan and eased her daughter back down. "No sudden movements."
"Diz?"
"He's next door." Alex said. "Can you tell me what happened?" She asked passing her daughter a cup.
After taking a sip of water the teenager said.
"I saw Diz on the ground. There was a guy holding his chest. When I called the guy turned round and then I got really dizzy. Is Diz okay?"
"He's still out of it, but he's safe. So are you." Alex said.
"How did I get here?" The teen asked confused.
"You managed to activate your necklace. Supergirl flew the pair of you here."
"Are Bodner and Jones okay?" The teen asked shutting her eyes as another wave of dizziness hit her.
"The attacker was gone before they got there." Alex said.
"I meant okay from what you did to them."
"They are fine." Alex said. "You up to looking at a few pictures?"
"As long as I don't have to move." The teenager said opening her eyes. Blinking a few times to focus on the tablet her mother was holding.
"Recognise anyone?"
"The one on the left." The teen said causing Alex to click on a photo.
"No the other left." Kara said. Frowning her mother clicked on the picture on the right.
"It was him." The teenager said shutting her eyes again. "Who is he?"
"His name is Osmose. He can temporarily drain people's powers and use them." Alex said.
"Why was he after Diz?"
"We don't know yet." Alex said. "But I'll figure it out. In the mean time I am going to give you something to help with the nausea, it will make you drowsy so just rest." Alex said injecting something into the IV.

"How is she?" Supergirl asked when Alex entered the briefing room.
"Okay, all things considered."
"Did she say what happened?"
"Osmose." Alex said heading to the wall displaying pictures of the missing metas. "It sounds like he drained Diz's powers and then used them on Kara when she disturbed him. It could have been a lot worse." She said before going on. "You thought groups of metas were being targeted based on their powers." Alex said looking at the board. "Now there are drugs that give people powers. But are unstable. What if those pills are beta version? And despite the side effects were good enough to keep progressing."
"So you think they are trying to give people powers to order?" Supergirl asked guessing what her sister was thinking.
"Maybe. And if they don't have a power like Diz's it makes sense they'd target him."
"Isn't there a really complicated process involved in making powers. I mean can Osmose actually pass them on?"
"No idea."
"If you are right how does this link to Tycho?"
"Perhaps it doesn't. Perhaps this is an offshoot of Stagg's plans and we just assumed Tycho was the puppet master."
"So what do we do?" Supergirl asked.
"I don't know." Alex said. "For now go home. I'll stay here with Kara."
"You sure?"
"I am. Go spend time with Alex."

"Morning you two." Supergirl greeted as she entered the infirmary holding a large brown bag and a tray with coffee cups on. "How are you feeling?"
"Okay." The teenage Kara said as Diz gave a non committal shrug.
"Good. Well I have brought you breakfast." She said passing the bag to her niece and the cup tray to Diz.
"Thanks." The teenage Kara smiled passing Diz a pastry.
"You're welcome."
"Did mom tell you when we could go?"
"No, I've not seen her yet." Supergirl said. "When I do I'll ask her to come see you."
"Thanks." Her niece said.
"Well, I'll see you guys later." Supergirl said before backing away and adding. "Don't forget the cameras."
-00-
"You've got two teenagers who want to escape." Supergirl said entering Alex's office.
"Kara? What time is it?" Alex asked looking up from her screen.
"Eight." Kara said. "Have you slept?"
"No." Alex confessed. "I stayed up with Kara for a while. Then after Diz came round I came here and tried to find a pattern."
"And have you."
"No." Alex sighed.
"Maybe you need a break." Supergirl said.
"Maybe."
"I brought you breakfast … but I gave it all to the kids."
"While I appreciate the thought, I'm not hungry." Alex said.
"Well I am. So why I don't I take you for breakfast?"
"I-" Alex started.
"It wasn't actually a question." Supergirl shrugged.
"Fine." Alex said standing and stretching.
"But you need to see Kara first. She is way too much like you to wait in the infirmary."
"You're right." Alex said. "But first I need to check their results."
"Haven't you got a team for that?"
"Yes." Alex agreed walking out of the office. "But I will feel more comfortable checking myself."
"What are you going to do when she is eighteen and you can't check her records?"
"I work for the DEO and share MJ's lack of respect for boundaries." Alex shrugged as they entered the infirmary where she picked up one of the tablets and read some reports, frowning as she did so.
"Problem?" Kara asked.
"Don't know." Alex said before entering her daughter's room where the teenage Kara was talking to Diz. On seeing her mother she asked.
"Can we go?"
"Morning to you too." Alex replied before asking. "How are you both feeling?"
"Fine." They both said.
"Okay, well you need to stay here a little longer." Alex said to Diz. "There are some anomalies in your blood work we need to keep an eye on." She then turned to her daughter. "If you want to go to school you can, otherwise you can stay here."
"Go to school." Diz said. "You have that big lab project today. I'll be fine."

"I found the files." Lucy said when Alex walked into her office following breakfast, where Lucy had taken up residence.
"Sorry what?" Alex asked.
"The DARPA call." Lucy said not looking up. "There were twenty three bids submitted. Three were taken forward, but ultimately came to nothing."
"So a dead end?" Alex asked.
"No." Lucy said. "I managed to get hold off all the bids, including the ones not selected and one of them stood out." She said passing a physical file to Alex. "The idea was put forward by a small start up called Bazooka. Their plan was to write a programme that would learn and become independent."
"Why was it rejected?"
"The official response stated lack of understanding of the risks and wildly inaccurate costings."
"But they kept going anyway?"
"The guy behind Bazooka took out loans and sold everything he had to continue the project."
"What happened?"
"He died. Turns out he had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. The project was a way to live forever. The interesting part is who was behind it. A man named Jason Breakall."
"Should I know him?" Alex asked.
"No. But you might remember his father. Thomas Coville."
"I didn't know he had family."
"He was divorced and estranged from his ex-wife and son. But from what we have learned so far after Jason discovered what happened to his father he became obsessed with Kryptonians. He wanted to find out what his father had been obsessed by."
"So you think Tycho is a programme he wrote that has gone out of control?"
"Maybe."
"So how do we stop it?" Alex asked.
"I thought it was contained?"
"For now. But something tells me it isn't over. Or that there is another version and I'd prefer a simpler way to stop it."
"Well that's more your thing." Lucy said. "But I was going to spend the day tracking down more of his friends and relatives to see if I can find anything."
"Thanks." Alex said before Lucy asked.
"How's Kara, the younger one, doing? I heard she was attacked."
"She's recovered enough to go to school." Alex said as Wildcat entered.
"Hey Alex, Diz is about to break out. I could use some back up if you have time."
"I'll talk to him." She said before looking at Lucy and adding. "Thanks."
-00-
"Going somewhere?" Alex asked entering Diz's room where he was putting on his sneakers.
"The gym."
"You can't leave yet." Alex said.
"So I'll go to the DEO gym."
"You need to rest. Just until we know what is up with your blood work."
"I need to train." He said.
"You need to rest." Alex repeated.
"I screwed up and because of that Kar got hurt."
"It wasn't your fault."
"I was the one who got jumped. If I had paid more attention he wouldn't have got to me and Kar would be okay."
"Anyone can let their guard down." Alex shrugged. "That's how Malaise got to me. But you getting jumped is in the past. You need to move."
"That's why I'm going to train."
"And what happens if you aren't okay and you collapse in the gym. What do you think Kara will do?"
"Yell at you? Yell at me?"
"And neither of us need that." Alex smiled. "Your first priority is to get better. So get some rest. When you are recovered then you can focus on getting stronger."
"Fine." Diz said sitting back down.
