"Hi Kara." Vasquez greeted the next day as Supergirl walked through the control room.

"Hi."

"Alex is in her office." Vasquez said.

"Is she still grumpy?" Kara asked.

"Hard to tell."

"So that's a yes." Kara said. "Wish me luck."

"Good luck." Vasquez said as Kara jogged up to her sister's office.

"Hey!" Kara said walking into her sister's office.

"Hey." Alex said not looking up from her computer.

"So are you still mad at me?"

"I'm not mad."

"Pretty sure the President would disagree."

"I'm not mad, I'm worried. I do realise how hypocritical this may sound, but how can I protect you if you hide things?" Alex asked looking up at her sister.

"I'm sorry. I really did forget. I was more concerned about making sure Alex was okay."

"I know. How is she doing?"

"She tried not wearing the inhibitors last night."

"And."

"It could have been worse. Some shoes and clothes flew around but other than that she remained in control of her powers."

"Then why do you look so stressed?"

"She is still having nightmares."

"That's not surprising." Alex pointed out. "Have you thought any more about the DEO shrink?"

"I suggested it and there was a minor freak out about talking to a random stranger. But she did promise to talk to me more."

"Well let me know if you change your mind."

"I will. So what now?"

"I have a day of reading test reports."

"Fun." Kara said. "Do you need me for anything?"

"No. Not at the moment."

"In which case I need to get to work. I'll see you later."

"Not so fast." Alex called.

"What?"

"Seeing you are here. Let's get the tests run."

"But I feel fine."

"And I want to make sure you stay that way. So does Alex." Her sister said.

"Fine." Kara said reluctantly following her sister to the infirmary.

-00-

"Well?" Kara asked an hour later.

"Everything looks normal." Alex said.

"Told you."

"Don't get cocky." Alex warned.

"I'm not. I mean I let you run all the tests." Kara said. "And I promise you that if I feel anything is wrong I will tell you."

"Thank you." Alex said reaching round to the workbench and putting her tablet down. Noticing her wince Kara asked.

"Is your shoulder still bad?"

"I still get the odd twinge. But it is okay."

"Are you sure?"

"I am."

"You do remember you just lectured me on the importance of sharing?" Kara probed.

"Yes." Alex confirmed.

"Well?" Kara asked.

"It was looked at here two days ago and it was healing as expected." Alex said.

"Really?" Kara asked.

"Really. Want to see my records?" Alex asked with more than a hint of sarcasm.

"Yes." Kara said getting up and grabbing the tablet.

"I wasn't being serious, but fine." Alex said taking the tablet and entering her password before pulling up her own records before passing it to Kara. "Happy?"

"No. Isn't this way too high?" Kara asked.

"What is?" Alex asked confused taking the tablet back.

"Your blood pressure."

"I didn't say read my entire medical history." Alex countered, locking her tablet.

"Someone has to." Kara said.

"I'm fine." Alex replied. "If I wasn't, I wouldn't still be Director."

"Those numbers didn't look fine."

"They are within acceptable limits. And maybe if you and the kids caused me less stress they would be lower."

"Director, your meeting is about to start." Harris said entering the infirmary.

"Thanks, I'll be right there." Alex said.

"Did you send Harris a message so they'd come in then?" Kara asked when the Agent had left.

"What? No. Stop being paranoid." Alex said. "I need to go. I'll see you later."

-00-

"Here you go." Ruby said entering Alex's office and passing her a coffee.

"Thanks." Alex said looking up.

"You're welcome. I thought you'd like to know the first meta squad is due to complete its training tomorrow."

"Any problems?"

"No. To be fair all the field work they did probably made it easier than normal. And Payne even made suggestions on how training could be improved for metas. And some of them will cause so much misery you'll probably like them. All the details are an email."

"Thanks."

"Any luck finding a link?"

"Not so far." Alex sighed. "But most of the tests will take hours if not days to run."

"Need anything else from me?" Ruby asked.

"No, not at the moment."

"In which case I will head back to the desert base and oversee the final hours of meta training." Ruby said as Alex sipped her coffee.

"What the hell is this?" Alex asked pulling a face.

"Coffee?" Ruby guessed. "Kara dropped it off."

"No it's not coffee. It's decaff." Alex complained.

"Have you upset her?" Ruby questioned.

"No, she thinks my blood pressure is too high."

"How is annoying you with decaff going to help?" Ruby asked.

"No idea." Alex said sliding the cup to the other end of the desk.

"You remembering lunch? And being on time. It must be a quiet day." Lena said when she saw Kara was already at the restaurant.

"Well Alex is limiting my Supergirl activities." Kara explained.

"Which one?"

"The older grouchier one." Kara said. "Although, if she wasn't the younger one probably would."

"I'm sure." Lena said. "How are you feeling?"

"Pretty good and before you ask Alex used me as pin cushion this morning and said I was fine."

"Good." Lena said. "No one wants to lose you for a third time."

"I'm not going anywhere." Kara said. "And thank you for not giving up on me."

"That's not deserved. I did give up. It was Alex who kept going. If I am being honest I was just there to keep Alex from falling."

"Well then, thank you for being there for Alex." Kara said as the waiter put some plates on the table. Confused Lena looked at Kara who explained. "Well, I was assuming you'd want some weird kale thing so I ordered it."

"That's very efficient." Lena said.

"But if you want a burger I can get one?"

"No, kale is fine thank you." Lena said as Kara started to wolf down her burger.

"Your appetite is back to normal then?"

"Well I did go for a few days without eating." Kara pointed out. "And I was out training with Alex last night."

"How is she doing?"

"With her powers or in general?"

"Both."

"Well her control is pretty good, may better than mine was at that age. But she lacks confidence in her ability to control them."

"Better that than being over confident I guess." Lena said.

"Maybe, but I don't want her to live in fear of her powers."

"How long did it take you to be at one with your powers?" Lena asked.

"I don't know. I mean I was afraid to use them because I was scared of being caught and putting Alex and Eliza in danger. And then after I came out it wasn't so much being scared of noting being in control as Kal had proven they were easy to control, it was more scared of looking like an idiot when I crashed into a building as I hadn't quite mastered flying."

"But you got over it with practice?" Lena asked.

"Winn and James helped to start with and then Alex and J'onn put me through my paces. They were tough task masters." She said smiling at the memory.

"Well then I am sure all the training you do with Alex will pay off."

"I hope so. I don't want it to be another source of stress for Alex, I give her plenty of that already."

"Maybe you should eat more Kale?" Lena suggested.

"I don't think that would help. Besides last time we went to vegan restaurant we were kidnapped."

"I don't think you can really blame vegan food for that." Lena said.

"Pretty sure I can." Kara smiled before asking. "So how are you doing?"

"I'm fine. Why wouldn't you be?"

"Well I heard that Lex had been asking to see you." Kara said.

"Well, I'm just ignoring him. I have been duped by him one too many times. Besides I don't have time to waste on him. I am still busy going through everything we have on Tycho."

"I thought the DEO were doing that?"

"They are. As well. I mean the programme is contained within my digital prison. I was never going to not look."

"And have you found anything?" Kara asked.

"Enough to conclusively disprove Lucy Lane's theory about it being connected to Coville." Lena said. "New code was added long after Jason Breakall died. Plus having researched the original proposal and his published work I don't think he had the skill anyway."

"Any ideas on who was behind it?"

"Not so far." Lena said. "But I won't give up on finding out the truth."

"Thanks." Kara smiled.

"Right now there is nothing you can do about Tycho, so leave that problem to Alex and me." Lena said.
