"Kara, hey." Steve said as he saw her outside the school.
"Steve, hi."
"How's your mom?"
"Much better now."
"Good to hear. I know Alex missed you."
"Lena told me everything you did. Thank you."
"Think nothing of it." He said. "And I'm sure Martin liked the extra company. And if there is anything else you need just ask."
"Thanks. But hopefully things will calm down a bit now." She said as she saw Alex and Martin leave the school.
"Hi mom." Alex said, surprised to see her.
"Hi."
"Is everything okay?"
"It's fine. I just thought we could hang out. Make up for all the lost time."
"Um-" The teen replied.
"What?"
"We have an assignment due."
"Okay, that's fine." Kara said.
"But you guys still need to eat right?" Steve asked. "You know so you can keep your brains nourished? So why don't you guys work on your assignment and I will make dinner."
"And by make?" Kara asked.
"I mean make." Steve said.
"As in cook?"
"I know this is an alien concept to you, but the majority of people can cook." Steve pointed out.
"Not in my experience." Kara countered.
"How have you survived this long?" Steve asked.
"Take out." Kara said.
"So where are we going?" Martin asked.
"Our place is closer." Kara said. "Why don't you two go ahead and start on your assignment and we'll get the food?"
"Okay." Alex agreed.
"We'll see you at home." Kara said as the two teens walked off.
"I so did not study this hard." Steve commented.
"Me either." Kara agreed.
00
"Wow, you can actually cook." Kara said as she tried the food.
"It's really not that hard." Steve pointed out.
"It is for mom." Alex countered.
"You know there are classes right?" Steve asked.
"Who has time for those?" Kara asked before Steve looked at Alex and asked.
"Who taught you how to cook?"
"It was an evolutionary thing." Alex said. "It was that or starve." She said as Kara's phone rang.
"Sorry." Kara said picking up her phone and walking to her bedroom.
"I'm really sorry, but I have to go to work."
"Want a ride?" Steve offered.
"No it's fine." Kara said picking up her coat. "I'll see you later."

"What have we got?" Supergirl asked as she landed in park.
"Reports of alien attacks in the park, but we haven't seen anything." Ruby said.
"Fake reports?" Supergirl asked.
"No. We have victims. But no perps." Ruby said as there was a scream off to one side. Flying over Supergirl saw a woman being attacked by an alien she didn't recognize. As she shouted for it stop the alien looked at Supergirl and then disappeared.
"That's new." Supergirl said confused as she hurried to the victim. As she reached her she asked. "Are you okay?"
"I think so?" The woman said, although she sounded far from confident.
"Let's get you somewhere safe." Supergirl smiled as she flew the woman over to the DEO agents.
"What was it?" Ruby asked once Supergirl had deposited the woman,
"I don't know. I didn't recognise it and when it saw me it disappeared." Supergirl explained.
"As in vanished or phased or what?"
"More like vanished." Supergirl said.
"Well we have a perimeter set up round the park, maybe it will trip something." Ruby said.
"Maybe." Supergirl agreed before shutting her eyes and listening for unusual sounds. After a moment she opened her eyes and said. "There are some people on the far side I am going to take a look."
"Remember it could be a trap." Ruby said channeling her inner Alex.
"I'll be fine." Supergirl said flying off. After a few seconds she landed in front of a group of teens who had the air of a group undertaking illegal activities.
"You need to get out of here." Supergirl said as the teens started to hide things in pockets. When they didn't run off she said more "Now." She said more forcibly. Nodding they turned and ran before Supergirl hit her radio and said.
"It was just some teens. They are heading to the East gate now."
"Understood. We are running IR scans now." Ruby reported. "And all exits are blocked."
"Where do you want me?"
"Why don't you go- wait we have something." Ruby said. "By the boat house."
"Heading over." Supergirl said flying off.
As she landed by the boat house she saw three aliens grouped together but the second they saw Supergirl they disappeared.
"What's going on?" Ruby asked. "The IR signatures have gone."
"Don't know when they saw me they disappeared."
"Scans still running and we have nothing." Ruby said.
00
"Hey." Kara said coming back into the apartment. "Have they gone?"
"Yes. Steve offered to stay but I said it was fine."
"Sorry I had to go out." Kara apologised.
"It's fine. Besides it meant we could finish our assignment." The teen said before asking. "Everything okay out there?"
"It is now." Kara smiled.
"Do you want me to heat you up some leftovers?"
"Don't you want to go to bed?" Kara asked looking at her watch.
"I'm not tired, besides I'd prefer to spend time with you. You still haven't told me everything that happened on Argo." The teen said moving to the kitchen.
"There's not that much to tell, most of the time I was waiting for mom to wake up."
"Were you okay?" Alex asked as she put the food in the microwave.
"Why wouldn't I be?"
"You were there alone." The teenage Alex reminded her.
"I wasn't alone." Kara said. "But I missed you so much." She said hugging her daughter.
"I missed you too." Alex replied. "I really wanted to go to Argo."
"I know, but I couldn't risk you." Kara reminded her. "I know the last few days have been hard on you, so why don't we go somewhere this weekend? Just the two of us."
"Okay." The teenager said as the microwave pinged. "Here you go." She said passing the plate to her mother.
00
"We identified the aliens from CCTV footage they were Grunkers." Ruby said. "The thing is they don't have powers that let them vanish."
"So we have aliens who we know can't disappear who can now disappear?" Alex asked as Ruby finished the briefing.
"Looks that way."
"Which fits into the same thing we have seen everywhere else." Vasquez said before asking. "Anything on the nanites?"
"What nanites?" Supergirl asked.
"While you were away we found the alien drugs had nanites." Vasquez said.
"Only we reached a dead end." Alex said. "So let's focus on what we do know."
"Ma'am you may want to see this." Rose said signalling Alex over just as Kara's phone rang.
"Hi Steve." Kara said answering her phone.
"Hi Kara." He replied, his voice sombre.
"Is everything okay?" She asked moving to a quieter spot.
"No. There's no easy way to say this so I'm just going to come out with it."
"What's wrong?"
"Alex, your sister, was just brought in. She's in a really bad way. They are taking her to the OR now."
"Are you sure?" Kara asked looking across the command room to where Alex was talking to Rose.
"One hundred percent." He replied. "I'm sorry."
"Thank you. I'll be right there." She said hanging up. She then glanced back at Alex who was still talking to Rose, before unsubtly signalling Vasquez who followed her out.
"What's wrong?" Vasquez asked as Supergirl led them into an empty lab.
"Steve just called. Alex is in hospital."
"Then go." Vasquez said not sure why Kara was still standing there.
"No, I mean the older Alex."
"What? But she's here. Is he sure?" Vasquez asked glancing at Alex.
"Yes."
"Okay, we have a process. Go wait in the lab 2." Vasquez said.
"But-"
"Kara, we need to follow the process for everyone's safety. If she is a fake and we confront her who knows what she'll do in there. We need to get her isolated."
"Okay." Kara agreed walking off.
00
"Alex." Vasquez said coming into her office as alarms sounded.
"What's wrong?"
"Containment issues in the infirmary. They need you down there."
"What's happened?" Alex said standing.
"Experiment gone wrong. But it is something you have dealt with before." Vasquez said. "Species 2352b."
"Okay." Alex said looking confused, as she followed Vasquez to the infirmary.
"Through there." Vasquez said pointing to bio lab 3. "I'll get the latest files."
"Okay." Alex said stepping into the lab. But once she was inside Vasquez hit a button and the lab sealed Alex in.
"What the hell are you doing?" Alex asked.
"Alex has just turned up in hospital."
"What are you talking about? I'm right here."
"We need to verify that." Vasquez said.
"This is ridiculous. Let me out."
"Once your identity has been verified." Vasquez said over the intercom.
"No now." Alex demanded.
"If you are the real Alex you know how important it is to get to the truth." Vasquez said.
"What do we do know?" Supergirl asked.
"Figure out what is going on. Nothing is getting out of that lab. We'll start testing. You need to get to the hospital."
