Kyudai Garaki worked tirelessly to reproduce a Quirk which the young master asked him to recreate in his lab that was up until several months ago completely abandoned.
Well he calls himself Ujiko when working under All For One but then again he's had so many names throughout his ever so long life that it really doesn't make much of a difference. Garaki, Tsubasa, Ujiko, those are the biggest names he's made for himself in recent years.
It feels as if it were only yesterday when all those decades ago he was cast aside for his Quirk Singularity Theory, it's fairly simple in concept, as the generations go on Quirks become more powerful, something he's witnessed first-hand, but also more dangerous and uncontrollable so at some point down the line Quirks will become so powerful that humans simply can't contain them.
However despite his valuable scientific findings his work was belittled and ridiculed out of denial and fear, afterall the world was still in it's dark ages in that time and if it became common knowledge that in maybe a century or two down the line humanity would destroy itself then the conflict and terror would intensify to high levels.
He was cast aside, he lost everything, but still he can't find it in his heart to hate the fact that he was. Because that was how he met him.
All For One has always had a keen eye for finding diamonds in this society of rubble and he was there to reach a hand to Garaki when he needed it the most. An overwhelming presence that caused images of death to appear in the minds of any foolish enough to oppose him, a smile like Buddha's, he was a god stuck in a mortal body, and what greater purpose could Garaki give himself in life than aiding god himself?
His Quirk is called 'Lifeforce', with this ability a person can double their lifespan by sacrificing athletic ability, his Quirk was simple but unique in that sense. He offered up his power to his leader after he created a copy of his own power so that he could continue to live and serve All For One.
Over the years he learned far more about Quirks than he could have ever possibly hope for with the resources All For One so generously provided him, and as much as he hates to admit it, given his pride as a scientist, there are simply some things about Quirks, or meta abilities if you want to be old fashioned, that just can't be explained no matter how hard one tries, he wasted years trying to satisfy his curiosity but somewhere along the line he just gave up, because Quirks hold a part of their original holders very souls, he's seen this phenomenon himself in All For One, how his Quirk would show him the lost souls who once held his masters Quirks in his dreams every once in a while and how once the Quirks were passed on he'd never interact with that person again. The Quirk factors of people contain a piece of their wielders.
Garaki did his very best to support All For One, who supported him completely in his research, and managed to eventually discover a way to transfer a Quirk without All For One's magnificent ability. Isn't that fascinating?
Though Quirks are tricky little things, the process takes a whole three months, at least, for the Quirk to successfully attach to it's host, this presented a problem given that the entire process is very time consuming and he never really had to transfer Quirks this way with All For One's power.
But alas he had terrible news, as much as Garaki believes in his god he was still stuck in a painfully mortal body, his body would eventually expire, so when that day came all the darkness that All For One blessed the world with will disappear with him, he will lose his god when that happens.
He had to save his god somehow, he thought and thought and thought until he finally figured out a way to save his master.
As he's already explained Quirks hold a piece of the person who wields them, so even if that person passes away if their Quirk is passed on then their soul and will is still alive. His master's body might fail him but he'd be able to save his mind and his spirit.
However who could they possibly pass his master's wonderful power onto, no random joe would do, this had to be someone with an indominable will and desire to rule above everything else. However at the time nobody was up to the task, All For One's solution? Find a successor.
But not just anybody could inherit All For One, the person's body would simply crumble under the pressure. His master is an anomaly among humans, given his ability to hold as many Quirks as he pleases, but his successor would not be so fortunate, All For One takes up far more 'memory' than a regular Quirk does so an ordinary human just wouldn't cut it.
However the solution was incredibly simple. Find a Quirkless successor. From his studies a Quirkless individual can take far more Quirks than one born Quirkless before their body finally fails them, their Quirk factor is shapeless and flexible given that it hasn't grow accustomed to a Quirk at all and would be able to inherit 'All For One' and remain intact unlike a regular person.
So with the knowledge that his new body would need to be originally Quirkless All For One set out to find his successor that would later become his new vessel.
After a little while his master found who he wanted. Hana Shimura.
It made Garaki chuckle slightly when he thought of who All For One chose, the grandchild of a 'One For All' holder would eventually inherit 'All For One', it was quite funny to the old doctor.
All For One prepared for the scenario in which he was defeated by All Might, the blonde oaf, and met his own end. He planned carefully and smartly but unfortunately 'One For All' was victorious.
Oh and don't even get Garaki started on that Quirk, the ungrateful and weak little brother who thought he could oppose All For One, the one who raised and cared for that fool? It was horrible what happened as a result of his actions.
All For One had his face and brain completely crushed, the use of a Quirk which allowed his consciousness to reside in his spine was enough to save him along with several healing Quirks, but his body was permanently damaged, oh how it hurt Garaki just to think about how much pain his master was in.
However one day whilst his master was in the middle of his healing process he was gone. All that remained of him was a pile of ash and charred bone alongside Kurogiri.
To say that Garaki was torn apart would be like saying that All Might was slightly muscular, he was completely wallowing in misery for months after that. He contemplated suicide many times, because what was the point of his life without his lord and saviour there for him to serve as his humble servant, all he was was a broken, old and miserable man at that point. A hollow shell with his spirit sucked out of his body that pathetically trudged through life with no purpose or happiness of any kind.
That was until the young master walked through that door.
He nearly gave Garaki a heart attack in that moment, that smile, that face, the holes in his palms, it was the spitting image of his deceased master.
He looked exactly like a young All For One and he was exactly like the man who once commanded Garaki, if Kyudai didn't know any better he'd say that they were the same person.
Ryoto is his name, the young man who he now serves as he did his master, and he was as cunning and delightfully evil as All For One was, he was apparently Quirkless until he was fifteen and caught up in a stressful situation, sounds like a Quirk Awakening, which allowed him to unlock his dormant Quirk factor.
The young man was as smart as his master was, he was planning to not only rule the underworld but the real world as well, he told him of some of his plans, it was unbelievable, his plan was crazy and risky and brilliant all in one.
He honestly pitied those heroes, they'd grown so weak and complacent with All Might doing most of their pointless work that as soon as Ryoto takes that musclehead down picking the rest off will be easy.
He's been doing his best to support the young master and revisited his old lab, he hadn't been in there for a few years and all of his nomu had all expired, the poor things, fortunately a cultivated Quirk can't expire and he has access to all of the abilities his master had to preserve when his body was nearly destroyed, his new master will make good use of all of the Demon Lord's most devastating Quirks.
However the process of transferring a cultivated Quirk is time consuming and his new master simply doesn't have enough time to safely transfer them all into him artificially. So for now they'll simply collect dust. But just for now.
Instead of creating more nomu he's been asked to create some copies of a Quirk called 'Cell Activation', it's not a difficult task for him and his equipment but making more copies of the same Quirk is a bit tedious. But alas for a second All For One he'll endure.
Garaki has no clue what his master wants to do with this Quirk, it's a healing Quirk that activates the cells in a person's body to increase regeneration, recovery time and even increase a person's overall health, it's a useful ability but it has got nowhere near the sheer recovery speed which 'Super Regeneration' boasts, so why bother reproducing such an ability?
It's not his job to question though. He is afterall but a humble servant of his master's.
I walked into Kyudai Garaki's lab, which looked as dark and ominous as ever with a large number of empty capsules with a purple solution that's meant to preserve living tissue and maintain it's condition for a human, or a monster with human DNA. Like a nomu.
Nomu have potential in my eyes, I've seen what they can do in the anime, just a single high end was enough to nearly beat both Endeavour and Hawks at full strength, if I had an army of those then beating the heroes physically would be an easy task.
But alas as helpful as those footsoldiers/corpses are I can't have any connection to those freaks of nature. I seek to ruin the reputation of the heroes in front of the entire world, and in order to successfully judge them I need to seem morally upright to a certain capacity, so no murdering civilians, no taking all the Quirks I want, and no murdering people and stitching them into monsters for me to throw at the heroes.
Because all of the dirt that I have on the heroes is only helpful if I have more on them than they do on me, if I use an army of hideous monsters to beat the heroes then the people won't accept me as their leader. I need to absolutely ruin this system, crush it so thoroughly into dust that there will be no hope of ever putting the old ways back together. Because that's what it will take for the people to accept me.
I walked through the creepy underground evil lab until my eyes found the short old man who I asked to reproduce a very special Quirk.
'Cell Activation' is a power that was briefly shown in the second movie, it's a Quirk that accelerates the bodies natural recovery rate to regenerate either the user or others and the activated cells become stronger once the Quirk is used. Whilst 'Super Regeneration' is superior in terms of pure speed this Quirk is useful because after someone is healed with this Quirk their cells are significantly stronger than before and the effects are permanent, so theoretically if I use this power repeatedly then my body's Quirkless strength will increase over time.
However this magnificent ability is unfortunately attached to a completely innocent 4 year old child named Katsuma Shimano, I've done some bad acts but I refuse to take the Quirk of a little boy, children are innocent and untainted by this wretched society's twisted way of thinking, I just don't have it in me to take the boys ability from him.
However that doesn't mean that I can't get my own version of his ability, I have the best Quirk doctor in the world under my command, one who knows how to duplicate Quirks and store them in tiny little chips that he keeps in capsules to upload the Quirks into their new user. This new Quirk is a bit inferior to the original but the difference is so infinitesimal that it really doesn't make much of a difference.
As mad as Garaki is there's no denying that the man's a genius, he even said he'd have a few copies of 'Cell Activation' ready for me by the time two weeks go by. A few copies of the same Quirk in a week. Just one week.
Having a genius scientist on your side sure is convenient.
"Ah, young master, you've come for your Quirks I assume." He spoke in a tone that one wouldn't disassociate with worship, it made me uncomfortable in all honesty, I have no desire for immortality or to be worshipped by others like a god, that would make me no different from All For One.
But still I maintained my image of calmness and tried my best to copy All For One's demeanour, he always seems the most willing when I do.
I maintained my both eerie and calm smile as I spoke to him." Of course doctor, I trust that you managed to procure them in time."
The man looked a bit exhausted, I had Jin make a clone of Garaki that could cover for his secret identity whilst the doctor can work on making Quirks for me.
The man himself was looking tired with the eyebags above his cheekbones being heavy, I suppose he worked all week to meet my needs. I'd feel bad if this wasn't the same person who personally frankensteined the corpses of multiple innocent people into an army of monsters.
Garaki looked eager at my arrival and practically jumped out of his seat like a child who wanted to show their parents something they find cool.
"But of course young master, I managed to duplicate three copies from the DNA you collected from the original user, though might I ask why you couldn't simply steal the Quirk yourself?" Garaki's intention was clear, he wished to know why I'd show mercy and simply take an inferior copy than have the real deal.
My mask of serenity didn't crack at his words." The one who had the Quirk was surrounded by a number of people. The Quirk he has is important and taking it would attract attention, having a few copies was the smarter decision."
Despite the fact that I sensed doubt with 'Empath' he decided to drop it and merely point to a capsule with purple solution inside.
I had a problem though and so I turned to him." I thought that a Quirk would take three months to attach itself to a host with your method of transfer, you don't have to be a mathematician to figure out that 3 months is more than twelve hours."
Garaki merely snorted at my words before explaining himself as we walked to the tube." 'All For One' is a truly unique power, Quirk factors that come near it seem to instantly latch onto the person who holds that amazing power. As a result it will take a short amount of time to transfer all of the masters Quirks into you."
Now that was a nice little chunk of information. All For One must have had a collection of powerful Quirks given how long he was alive, if they were all mine then-
I smirked slightly as I thought back to the manga, the final chapter I'd read, chapter 385, how Machia's armour was cut through like paper by All For One as he destroyed Dark Shadow at full power with a single attack. If I had that kind of power at my beck and call then it wouldn't matter if an army came at me, I'd just be that strong.
Garaki handed me a black skintight skinsuit that reminded me of what Tomura Shigaraki wore when he had 'All For One' transplanted into him. I let a smirk form on my face at the thought of yet another thing I'd completely changed in the canon timeline.
After changing into the piece of equipment I was given an oxygen mask that covered my entire face by Garaki which I'm assuming will help me breathe when I'm in that purple stuff.
I walked into the capsule and wires suddenly shot out of the walls and sunk themselves into my skin like syringes, it would have hurt if I didn't have 'Pain Killer' to block any pain that I felt out.
My eye lids felt heavy and my body sluggish as I simply closed my eyes with the last thing I felt being the feeling of a liquid starting to swallow me whole.
Huh, it is cold.
I flexed my hand as I checked very clearly what the properties of my copied Quirks are.
As I've mentioned my ability to interact with the Quirk factors of others make me extremely knowledgeable about what Quirks are and how they work, every single Quirk has a different 'feeling' to it whenever I check on it using 'All For One' and honestly these copied Quirks feel... off.
I can't even explain it properly, there just isn't a word to describe the feeling of a fake Quirk, though it looks, feels and works like the real deal just looking at it properly gives me a strange feeling of disgust for some reason. If I just don't look at it the Quirk won't do anything but it's a bit annoying to ignore.
I shook my head and redirected my attention to the gym I'd set up out in the woods.
I'm here to train, and when I say train I mean train, I'm not here to practice my Quirk I'm here to increase my regular Quirkless strength.
I'm a tall guy at 6'3 with a broad physique however despite how I look my body isn't the peak of fitness that I want it to be, oh sure I have a bit of musculature but take away my Quirks and I'm just a guy who knows quite a bit of martial arts, I want a superhuman Quirkless physique.
This is one of the reasons I wanted a Quirk which can restore stamina whilst improving physical condition, so that as soon as I drop dead I can just get back up and get the benefits from working out instantly before repeating the process over and over. It's basically cheating.
You might be wondering why I need to improve my Quirkless strength, afterall if I have the strongest Quirk in the world then why do I need to know Quirkless fighting? Well the simple answer is that Quirks aren't everything, there may very well come a time for my body to do the work instead of my Quirks, when that happens I will be prepared.
I picked up some dumbells that looked quite heavy and began going to work.
Plus ultra right?
