Chapter 797 Lost in Language
I don't own Bleach or any of the powers and gear used in this story.
We find ourselves in the Owl House as Luz was reading to King from her Azura book while Kazuo was listening.
"Our paths have crossed only in battle. But today I stand before you seeking an ally." Luz read before sighing.
"Luz you're getting all swoony again." King said.
"I can't help it. Azura is able to befriend everyone. Even her biggest rival. I wish I had that kind of power." Luz said.
"I'm your friend." Kazuo said making her smile.
"Rivals are meant to be annihilated not befriended." King said.
Kazuo then remembers some of the people they met that became allies.
"Keep reading. I've been sucked into your awful fandom." King orders.
"Okay. Suddenly the door swung open." Luz read and suddenly the door swung open.
"Ding‐dong. Ding. Hoot! Hoot!" Hooty said.
"The book has come to life! Burn it!" King yells.
Walking over Luz saw a basket by the door.
"Eda, you got a package. It looks like a gift basket." Luz said as they walk into the kitchen and she puts it down.
"Probably an offering. Ah! Being the most powerful witch in the Boiling Isles has its perks." Eda smiles.
Pulling back the blanket King saw a little bat baby demon creature sleeping.
"Mmm fresh meat." King smiles.
That got him a bonk over the head by Kazuo.
"Witches eating babies is so 1693. What is this?" Eda asks when King noticed a note.
"There's a note. Take care of my child till morning. Yi Yi." King read.
"Nope. Babies are awful. Not happening." Eda said.
"You will be handsomely rewarded. X-O-X-O-X-O-X. Bat Queen." King read.
"Bat Queen?" Eda asks when King pulls out some coins. "Reward?" Eda smiles.
"Who's the Bat Queen?" Luz asks.
"She's the wealthiest demon on the Boiling Isles. Get in with her and you're set for life. So, we keep this thing alive for a few hours and we get paid. Easy." Eda smiles.
"Our greatest adventure yet! Learning about love and life through a child's eyes." Luz smiles.
"Not you. You two have to return the books I checked out from the library." Eda said making a magic circle and tons of books dropped into their arms.
"Whoa!" Luz and Kazuo said trying to balance them.
"I don't want them getting a cut of the loot." Eda whispers to King.
"Good thinking." King smiles.
"Now, let's take a look at this little darling." Eda pulls back the blanket and almost immediately the Bat Baby let out a loud shriek causing them to cover their ears in pain. "On second thought maybe we could use your help!"
"Sorry we're going to the library!" Luz calls out.
"Good luck!" Kazuo yells as they walked out the door.
"We got this right?" Eda asks when the Bat Baby flew out and knocked her to the ground.
Later
Luz and Kazuo look in awe at the giant library.
"Whoa." Kazuo and Luz said in awe.
"It's big." Kazuo said as they entered and almost immediately the Librarian used magic to bring all their books over.
"Late. Late." He said before examining one. "Coffee, grass and bloodstains? These are Eda's, aren't they?"
"That was a crazy night." Luz said causing him to sigh.
"I'll put them on her tab. By the way, we're closing early for the Wailing Star meteor shower." He said.
"What's that?" Kazuo was confused.
"You're in a library. Read a book." He said gesturing to the bookcases around them.
"I am in a library. I will read a book." Luz said excited before she was shushed.
Walking around Luz noticed a demon decimal system.
Bending down she pulls out a piece of candy to feed it and it ended up burping tons of decimal cards on her.
Walking around they saw multiple floating books above them. Smiling Luz reached out to grab one but ended up getting pulled up.
"Kazuo! The books have me!" Luz screams.
Kazuo grabs on to her legs but got dragged too.
"Shush!" Someone said.
"Sorry." They both said.
After finding an area to let go they saw people watching videos on Crystal Balls in the Reference section.
"This place is amazing." Luz said.
"Yeah." Kazuo nodded
"What are you doing here?" A familiar voice said startling them.
They heard laughing making them confused as Kazuo goes foward with Luz following him, they enter the kids area to see Amity reading a book to little kids.
"We're you're friends and we wanna help,' said the Tin Boy with a yelp. Otabin smiled and paced the floor. I've never had real friends before." Amity read.
"Amity, reading to kids?" Luz said peeking out.
Slowly the two of them snuck in and hid behind the graphic novels.
"Then we'll be your first,' the Chicken Witch clucked. Otabin couldn't believe his luck. So, Bookmaker Otabin surrounded by friends, bound a book of friendship and that's the end." Amity said closing the book causing the kids to cheer.
"Huh, she can be really nice." Kazuo smiles.
"Maybe we can befriend her like Azura befriended her rival." Luz said.
"She's coming!" Kazuo said as they ducked to hide before the kids ran past them.
"Thank you so much." One kid said when a red demon kid hugged.
"Good‐bye, Miss Amity. Thank you." It said in a deep voice.
"Thank you, Braxus. See you next time." Amity smiles as Braxus ran off only to see Luz and Kazuo nearby. "Ugh it's you two."
"Hey Amity, I didn't know you read to kids." Kazuo said.
"Looks like this sour lemon drop has a hidden sweet center." Luz teases.
"It's for extra credit. Don't get your leggings in a bunch." Amity said putting the book back.
"Hey we can help you read to the kids too." Kazuo said.
"Hey do you see me going to the Owl Shack and bugging you while you... fry up owls?" Amity asked.
"We don't do that." Kazuo said.
"Okay, I don't really know what you do there, but every time you two come near me, I get in trouble. Just leave me alone." Amity said.
"Okay we'll go. I just had to call my friends here." Kazuo said.
"Friends?" Amity said.
"Us." Freddy appeared behind shocking Amity as the others of Kazuo's friends appeared around in different positions.
"Wow!" Luz got amazed seeing them all.
Amity got stunned. "Are some of them even human?"
"Let's go guys." Kazuo said as they went away.
"So much for that." Luz sighs.
"Hey don't let her get to you." Looking over they saw two older teens, a boy and a girl with green hair and light blue sleeves. These were Edric and Emira.
"Who are you?" Luz asks.
"Well-wishers on a mission." Edric said.
"A noble quest." Emira smiles.
"Watch this. Hey Mittens!" Edric calls out causing Amity to turn red embarrassed. "Mom says to stop forgetting your lunch." He said holding up a lunch box as Amity walks. "And stop being a jerk to your friends."
"They're not my friends." Amity said.
"Yeah makes sense. I mean no way you could ever hang out with people this cool." Emira said.
"We're cool?" Luz said.
"Yeah, your friend managed to defeat Amity like it was nothing." Edric making Amity mad.
"You can leave now. All of you." Amity said taking her lunch and walking away.
"So, you're the humans we've heard so much about." Edric said.
"I'm Emira. And this is Edric. We're Amity's older siblings. We heard how you embarrassed her at the school and at the witch covention last week. No wonder she hates you two." Emira said.
"Yeah I thought we were as cool as cucumbers. But we're as sour as pickles." Luz said.
"I tried to go easy on her, but her teacher cheated on the match." Kazuo said.
"Yeah, which made her look worse. Let's show you some fun things." Edric said.
First Edric wiped off the Non on the Non-Fiction sign as a librarian walks over.
"And here we go towards our nonfiction section." He gasps seeing the sign "Fiction? Fiction? Is our world but fiction? Then what in my life is real anymore?" He sobs.
Next one Librarian was reading while he was stacking books but he didn't know Emira was putting the same book he stacked back into the cart.
Adding more insult to injury she had him switch places with the one from earlier.
"Huh? No fiction! Not again!" He sobs causing them to chuckle.
Finally in front of the demon decimal system, Edric blew dust onto all the cabinets causing the demons to sneeze cards all over causing them to laugh.
"Hey!" Looking over they saw Amity and the Librarian glaring at them.
"Wait where's Gary?" He asks.
"Coming." The other Librarian said running in. "Noo!" He sobs again.
Grabbing them the four of them were tossed out.
"You've made reading far too fun. Now, stay out." He said closing the door on them causing them laugh.
"Amity's even madder at us than before. I didn't think that was possible." Luz said.
"No when Mittens is mad she looks like this." Edric holds his breath turning red with anger before catching his breath. "Woah, I almost passed out."
"You two are pretty fun." Emira said before she and Edric nod. "So, hey, we're coming back tonight. There's a certain book we forgot to check out."
"And bonus, rumor has it the Wailing star's supposed to unlock some rare magical event. You in, friend?" Edric asks.
Kazuo looks at his friends and they shrug. "Sure why not."
"Great. Meet back here at midnight. See you later." Edric said as they walked away.
"Amity's siblings are interesting." He said.
"This is great. First, we befriend the siblings then we befriend the Amity." Luz said.
They walked away to get they're stuff.
Nearby Amity had heard the whole thing causing her to growl and hold her breath until her face turned red before gasping. "Whoo. Almost passed out."
Back at the Owl House
The Bat Baby was still crying while Eda and King were trying to cover their ears.
"It's been hours. How can it keep screaming?" King asks.
"Oh. I hate it too, pip‐squeak. But think about the money." Eda said when the screams got louder causing various glass objects.
"No amount of snails is worth this torture! Make it stop!" King whines causing Eda to sigh.
"I can't believe I'm about to do this." Eda said picking up the baby and started rocking it back and forth. "Rock, rock. Maternal gesture."
As Eda rocks the baby back and forth it stops crying when the door opens revealing Luz and Kazuo.
"We just had the best day. Cool teens like us." Luz smiles.
Eda then saw the rest of Kazuo's friends. "Hey who are these guys?"
"My friends." Kazuo said.
"Call us library books because we were checked out." Luz smiles when they noticed Eda.
"Wow Eda you look so motherly." Luz smiles.
"Say that again and I steal your tongue." Eda said.
Kazuo takes Luz away as they went to do they're own things.
Later that night
Luz and Kazuo were in front of the library waiting for Edric and Emira.
"Okay just act cool…cool…cool." Luz said trying to make cool poses.
"I don't know." Kazuo said.
"Why not? I say keep going." Emira said startling them.
Across from them they saw Emira and Edric smiling and giggling at them.
"How long we're you there?" Kazuo asked.
"Long enough." They smile as they walk to the door.
"You guys ready to bring this whole whatever you're doing inside?" Edric asks as they both nod. "It says no trespassing but I'm allergic to the rules."
"And dairy." Emira adds.
"Wow, okay. Just expose me." Edric said causing them to laugh as Emira puts a scroll to the lock and it ends up opening it.
"Cool." Luz said.
"Cool." Kazuo said as he followed them.
"Standing in a dimly lit lobby. You guys know how to party." Luz said looking around.
"Look the Wailing Star!" Edric points as they look to the window to see a sobbing star fly past the stained glass window.
"Nothing happened." Kazuo said.
"Wait look." Luz points to show all the books on the shelves were glowing green. "The books are all glowy." Luz opens one and from the book, multiple birds flew out.
"Wow the Wailing Star Magicked the books to life." Edric said when Luz closed the book making them disappear.
"And when you close the book whatever you released goes back into it." Kazuo said.
Kazuo's friends sensed that and Trica said: "Hope he can do it fast, I have to go back soon."
"Oh yeah your going to try a new school." Tony said.
Chica looks inside to see the group.
Leading them further into the library they stopped at the romance section.
"Oh, wow. Boiling Isles romance. That's totally lame. I mean, unless you guys are into it?" Luz asks.
"I think I'm into this one." Edric moves a book and the shelf moves revealing a secret clubhouse filled with books and other types.
"Your clubhouse is like my ultimate secret hideaway." Luz said causing both of them to laugh.
"We don't hang out in the library. Uh, teacher, I'm in love with a dictionary." Edric mocks.
"I'm studying the dork arts. This is Amity's secret hideaway." Emira said surprising them.
"Amity?" Kazuo said.
"Mittens has gotten too full of herself. She keeps tattling on us when we cut class." Edric said.
"She needs to learn not to mess with people like that. So, we're going to find her diary." Emira said.
"And then post the pages all around school for everyone to see." Edric said as they both laughed shocking them.
"But…she'd be humiliated." Kazuo said.
"Isn't that taking it a bit too far?" Luz asks.
"No. See, we're her family. It's tough love. She needs to learn to lighten up." Emira explains.
Kazuo frowns at them and he has a glare.
Amity was nearby but then they heard a roar, everyone saw many book characters coming out as vicious monsters.
"Uh guys." Luz saw them coming towards them.
"Run!" Edric said.
They ran away from them as the monsters came after them.
Kazuo heard a scream and saw Amity being held by a duck monster.
"Amity!" Luz saw her.
Kazuo teleported to the monster kicking it back as he takes Amity.
"What's going on?!" Amity said.
"I don't know." He said.
His friends came and they started to fight off the monsters.
"I also saw what you were trying to do, you were going to help them take my diary!" She said.
"No!" Kazuo yells surprising her. "I wasn't, in fact they're just big bullies!"
Amity got stunned hearing those words and Luz was stunned.
"I have a brother and sister too and we don't fight like that, we care about each other." Kazuo said.
"Kazuo." Luz said.
Amity was speechless to hear that.
They saw many of the monsters coming and Kazuo thinks of something before a idea came.
"Of course!" He said.
"What's the idea?" Luz asked.
Kazuo summons a book. "A friend of mine told me that this happened before so he decided to use the power against it."
"How?" Amity said.
Kazuo opens the book making someone come out, they got surprised to see the hero Put Back.
"This is Put Back the hero to go against all fictional characters." Kazuo said.
"All of them!" They said.
Put Back then starts to destroy each of the characters that came close and they returned back to they're books.
Put Back kept going taking them down one by one as the spell started to break.
He then stops since they were now all gone and poses before vanishing.
"Wow." Amity said.
Kazuo came with her diary and gave it back to her. "This belongs to you."
"Oh thanks." She takes it. "I guess you are just trying to help."
"Yeah we just want to be your friends." Luz said
"Also I didn't know you had "Good Witch Azura books 1-4." He shows the books.
Luz gasps and Amity blushes. "Whatever."
"We should totally read them together." Luz said.
"Another time. Also... Thanks." Amity smiles at Kazuo before walking away.
"I wonder what Eda is doing?" Kazuo said.
Eda was sleeping with the baby as they were peaceful.
"What happened to her siblings?" Luz said.
Amity's siblings were being held by they're underwear from a rooftop.
"How did this happen?" They said.
Wonderweiss and Hikone laugh at a corner.
Note: Here's the Lost in Language ep and Kazuo knows about a certain stand user so he used Put Back do deal with the characters.
