"Morning Tegan." Ace brightly tells her friend.
"It's only bright to you because you got to sleep in the arms of the one you love. All I can do is dream of mine." Graham, sensing a girl talk leaves the room and starts breakfast.
"Did you have another dream of the Mara last night?"
"No, at least I think not. This time it was just her. She kissed me trying to prove it was her."
"Oh Tegan," Ace wraps her arms around her friend as she starts to cry, Graham pokes his head and Ace shoos him back into the kitchen. "I know I have said this before, but I will stop at nothing until we find Nyssa. Now come on, I have a feeling you haven't had any food in days."
"Ace, I'm not hungry."
A voice from the kitchen, "no one leaves this house in the morning or any day without food in their stomach."
"Two against one, come on." Ace drags her friend to go eat. Tegan walks in and her mouth drops.
"These are my favorite breakfast items."
"When Ace called me telling me she was going to Australia, I asked for your favorite foods. Here we are." Graham gestures to the food on the table.
"Thank you Graham."
"I know from experience one way to heal after anything major, not that I know what is going on with you is food. Especially someone's favorite foods." He looks to Ace who is heading to the pantry knowing there wasn't any vegan foods. "Dear, I made some for you too."
"You must really like cooking Graham."
"I do."
"He's great at it too. I don't think there has ever been a time in my life I have been this well fed."
"Not even when you traveled with the Doctor; you were just a kid."
"Oi, I was a teenager that had been on my own for months before the Doctor and Mel showed up." Tegan laughs and Graham just smiles at her. Ace shakes her head at Graham and is glad to hear Tegan laugh.
"Sounds like you need to eat also Ace." Tegan tells her friend.
"I do. We have a busy day today."
"What do you mean, I thought we could just spend the day here."
"No matter what, you two are going to have lunch and have a home cooked meal for dinner," Graham tells them.
"Graham," Ace looks at him.
"Ace," he looks back, "the two of you deserve all the home cooked meals." Graham takes his last bite and washes his plate and leaves the two to talk in private.
"Tegan, if we don't go today, I will be keeping you busy in other ways. I thought you would want to get started today, that would mean we could find Nyssa sooner."
"Thank you for that, but I don't think I want to talk about it all again."
"Tegan, I don't want you to go through all that pain again, but you have to tell Kate what is going on. It has been 40 years since you last had experience with the Mara and you had the Doctor then."
"And Nyssa, who helped me get out of it. It was worse the second time around."
"Nyssa is a part of your soul." Ace reaches across the table, her ring catching the early morning light.
"Just like Graham is a part of yours, who seems to be a wonderful house husband."
"He is, but we are not talking about him. We are talking about you."
"Is there anywhere we can talk in private?"
"Are you comfortable in my bomb shelter? Everything is put away."
"Why?"
"I have been busy with A Charitable Earth, UNIT and Wedding Planning to make bombs. Though Graham did suggest I make some more." Tegan's mouth goes wide.
"He doesn't mind you being a pyromaniac?"
"No, did Nyssa call you anything that would be considered cutesy?"
"No."
"That will happen."
"If we get her back," there is a knock on the entryway and both turn, "I am going to head out for a few hours to be with Ryan."
"Have fun, give him my love," Graham holds his heart. "You already have mine, you idiot, now go."
"Love you to my Firestarter." Graham leaves.
"My god you two are sickening."
"That will happen right after we find her."
"How can you be so optimistic about finding her?"
"I can be an optimistic person, you know."
"Can you give some to me?" Ace gets up from her chair and does jazz hands all over her body then shoots it Tegan's way.
"What the fuck was that?"
"Giving you some of my optimism."
"It didn't work, I still feel lonely and like there is no chance of ever getting Nyssa back."
"Well then believe in this," she whistles, and a metal dog comes out.
"Mistress?"
"Hello K9, is there a way to contact alien worlds?"
"With slight difficulty."
"How about tomorrow you come to UNIT with Tegan, Graham and I."
"Affirmative."
Ace gets down on the ground, "who's a good boy, you're a good boy."
"He's a metal dog."
"I am not a dog, Mistress Tegan."
"You know who I am."
"Mistress Ace talks about you, about the same amount she."
"Not now K9, Tegan doesn't need to know that."
"I agree if your reaction is anything to go by," Tegan looks at her friend. "Your cheeks are turning pink."
"Let's change the subject. I will help you tell Kate about what is going on with your dreams, from what you have told me."
"Thank you."
"Anything for my best friend. While I am doing this if you don't want to be in with me, and I don't think I can see you cry again unless it's tears of joy when you have Nyssa in your arms. I will be screaming at the top of my lungs when that happens.
"What if it turns into a reunion you don't want to see?"
"Then I will take Graham by the hand and drag him away and thank him for being so patient for putting planning on hold."
"What? No, I don't want that to happen. Plan your wedding to the one who has your heart."
"Not until your heart is fixed Tegan. This was Graham's idea. In his words, "Bride's best friend is happy, so is Bride."
"You two don't have to do that."
"But we do, I think the both of us want Nyssa there too. So we have a couple waiting to get married until she is returned, we will have Kate and more too. We are surrounded by hopeless romantics," Ace gets a smile.
"What are you thinking?"
"Oh I think Jo is going to be there tomorrow." Tegan's eyes go wide thinking of the older woman and how she loves and treats everyone.
"My sides are already hurting from the hug." Ace smiles at her. What they don't know is that Graham has a surprise for Tegan.
