Tegan jumps up in her sleep, "NYSSA!" Her heart is beating fast. She hears some indistinct chatter from the room next door. Instead of trying to fall back asleep, she gets up and goes downstairs to make herself some tea. First she heads to the mirror, "if you are still messing with me, there will be hell to pay."
She makes her way down the steps. As she turns around and leans against the counter she nearly screams. "Jesus K9, do you often give people a fright?"
"Affirmative."
"I am going to tell you something K9." The Metal Dog continues to look at her. "You are going to be the only one that won't be worried about me because of my dreams. Most nights lately I have been dreaming of Nyssa. I know I used to dream about her often. But now I see her as, well you know, fully grown and perfectly filled out."
"Mistress must know about this. Mistress is human."
"I know that K9. I just don't want to worry her."
While Tegan was making the tea. "Graham, I think you should talk to Tegan," Ace has her head on his chest to feel and hear his heartbeat as it calms her.
"You think I would be the best. You know how I mince my words a lot."
"Only when you're nervous my love. Just speak from your heart and tell her about your dreams with Grace."
"Are you upset that I told you about them?"
"Not at all, it shows how big of a heart you have. It made me fall deeper for you."
"I haven't had a dream or vision of her since you accepted my proposal."
"I wouldn't mind if you dream of her again. She was your life."
"Now it's you and Ryan."
"Go, talk to Tegan. I think I heard her get up." Graham looks down at her.
"Ok." Graham gets up.
"Just put on some trousers. I don't mind seeing you only in your pants, and less," she adds with a wink, "Tegan might not want to see all the spatulas.
"And I tell her that her best friend got them for me for Christmas."
"Just don't add that we spent most of the day with nothing on."
"After Ryan and Yaz left of course."
"Of course," Ace laughs, "now go."
As Graham approaches the kitchen he hears Tegan talking to K9."
"K9 is right, you know."
"Graham?" He motions to the table for both of them to sit down at the table.
"Yeah, um look. I know how it feels to see someone you lost."
"Nyssa isn't dead."
"I know, and you have no idea how glad I am that she is. Look, I am not good with my words. When I Iost Grace and until I asked Ace to marry me; I would see Grace every so often. This was when I was awake."
"How does Ace feel about that?"
"She told me it made her love me more."
"Well Ace is a good person and loves you deeply."
"And I love her deeply. I am going to help you also."
"You already did, you called my son."
"I know being around Ryan helped me a bit, and he's my grandson. JN is your son."
"JN?"
"He asked me to call him that, he's a good boy."
"I know," Tegan adds with a large smile.
"Back on the topic, I am not going to tell you to try and stop seeing Nyssa in your dreams. What I am going to tell you when you wake up and feel like crying, cause it will happen, come find Ace or I. If not, think about the good times with Nyssa. For example when the two of you first met."
"Most would tell me to try and not to see her or think of her."
"You can't control your dreams, and I know how helpful it could be seeing the one you loved and lost in certain moments."
"Do you believe we can find her?"
"I do. I believe the two of you are meant to be."
"You do, you've never even met her."
"And until recently I have never met you or Ace, nor have I heard of you two. Look at me now, engaged to Ace and looking forward to the day I can call her my wife."
"Why did you suggest putting off your wedding then?"
"I want her to be happy and worry free when we get married and if Nyssa isn't here with you; making you have and the Mara defeated again. Ace won't be like that."
"Her happiness is that important to you?"
"It is and so is yours." Graham looks down and her cup, "want me to make you a new cuppa, yours seems to have grown cold?"
"I'm fine, go back to bed."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah." He pats her shoulder as he heads back to bed.
Tegan waits for a few minutes to make sure Graham is fully upstairs and leaves the house.
"How is she doing?"
"Ok, I told her it was ok to dream of a lost love and also remember the good times."
"I need to."
"Ace, lay back down."
"No, I need to see if she's ok."
"Dorothy," that stops her as she looks at him. "She needs time to process everything, plus I called in a favor. Well, it's not really a favor. The Doctor now has the trick that can help with the Mara. After the Mara is gone, Tegan will no for sure if she's dreaming of Nyssa."
"You've never called me Dorothy before, except when you asked me to marry you."
"I'm not mad, we just have been mothering Tegan too much."
"I'm worried and she's my best friend."
"I know that, but she has to do some things herself. The reason I called you Dorothy, is because I knew that would get your attention." Ace leans back against Graham as he has gotten back into bed.
"I just have never seen her like this, you know. She has seen me, after a bad break up of course. Though I did have my charity to throw myself into."
"She has many that love and care for her and we will be spending most of our free time if not all trying to get Nyssa home."
"What am I going to do, if I need to give Tegan some space?"
"We can work on fighting to get Nyssa back, and when we are not at work; entertaining Tegan, well." Graham kisses her slightly.
After the kiss is done, "don't you want to spend time with Ryan?"
"He's going away again, since we are putting off the wedding."
"I'm sorry. Why didn't you tell me that?"
Graham puts his hand over her heart, "your heart was already worried enough for someone."
"You're my partner Graham, I am always worried for you, I love you."
"I love you too," they cuddle closer to each other. Graham falls asleep as Ace stays awake worried for her two people. Best friend and the man she loves.
