Mickey and Martha took the house Johnny Davies had himself thrown out of, Ianto wanting the one in the middle of the cul-de-sac instead. Jack's family took the one to the left, Rhiannon's to the right despite Ianto wanting her with him… but he understood why. When she dies, the kids will have nothing. They can then sell one of the houses, of course she was making sense. Soon they were all settled in with the huge extended Blumanchu family settling in the large house at the back that had been built as servant quarters for all the rich pricks they thought the houses would go to. Shame on them.

Now the large dormitory was perfect for this breed that prefer to live like that, communal. There were about five families that Ianto could decipher, but it did not matter, they all share. Five adults and eight lively kids. Ianto knew this was risky, the people here were already treating them like lepers, adding the Blumanchu was really risky but what the hell, they were soldiers once too. They deserve their green pastures too.

Warren had also asked if they wanted jobs, knowing that Ten Credit Sollys are not that welcome at jobsites, are accused of taking the jobs of the locals… even though no one wanted to do them in the first place… they were all surprised to find jobs were available after all. It was after things had died down a bit and it was just Warren, Ianto and Rhiannon that she finally found out what was really going on. She sat and listened to the conversation between the two men, the old one actually so young compared to the younger looking one who patted the man's hand as a parent might do.

Her father had not only received medals and commendations for his long vicious service, he had also reached bonuses. Money. He called it blood money, had refused to accent it so it remained in the account untouched all these years…. Gods, some of it for longer than she had been alive.

Her Taddy had purchased all these houses, had pulled strings she didn't know even existed to make sure everyone not only got the houses thy had been promised, but also the jobs hastily arranged about the place. The Blumanchu had been more problematic. He had worked on that, things were going to be OK. These natural botanists now cared for the gardens and lawns. Her Taddy, her lovely and strong, and dangerous father had secured her future. The future she had argued with him for, had bullied him into and the world she had now forced him to live in as well. Gods, if she couldn't feel any worse. She will die and leave him so much hassle.

She wished Johnny' dick might rot and fall off.

Ianto wasn't sure about Rhys' wife. She was still rubbing him the wrong way and she seemed to enjoy doing it. She had been placed in the house next to them on the left, it was sooo annoying the way she would walked through their backyard with a stick swinging as she stomped her away about like she owned the entire place. He knew Rhys had served recognized him and had been happy to offer him a spot but her… well. Apparently she was ex-military police, which said it all really. He never did like authority.

He was still adjusting to being here, in this strange place. Like being back at war again, different place, different time, same shit. Only this time it was different. This time he had rights, they had rights. Promises had been made and by the Gods, they would be kept.

They had poked the wrong Dragon this time.

"Hey"

"Owen."

Owen plonked himself on a chair next to Ianto, Jack already sitting with his family as they waited for the meeting to start. Gwen was up front waiting to speak and Owen groaned, rolling his eyes and flopping back theatrically in the chair as he bemoaned the fact he was sick of her reading out the rule and regs when they all knew them now.

"Yeah but she doesn't get much else to do" came the hushed reply from Rhys, reaching out from behind to slap Owen's head and they all sniggered. Andy sitting next to him poked out his tongue and Owen blinked with surprise. Where did he come from?

"So, any more jobs materializing for the ones still looking?" Jack asked softly while ignoring the safety brief. I mean really… they all know by now that some of the wildlife here can kill you. Duh.

"I am still working on it, the Brigadier is an old war friend and I am tweaking several areas, as I see an opening where it would be more efficient for another few bodies in security so I am casually working that angle. So far several of the first and second wave of imports are now employed after being here quite some time." Ianto replied.

"Well, our daughters need something too. My girl is an adept secretary so hopefully something can come along there too."

"Mine too. Yeah, I am working on that. Once I know we are solid I can relax. So many positions I find have to be offered to the locals first though, it is so fucking annoying. They don't want them, come to the interviews and scoff at the wage like we are insulting them when they are the ones wanting the be there."

"Not."

"Exactly, it's this whole perception of us taking their jobs. They all yell afterwards if they don't get it but I make a point of offering it to every one of them, saying congratulations you passed and record them giving excuses for why they don't want it." Ianto hissed and Jack snorted with mirth at the cunning plan. Of course, no doubt once the position is filled the wage increase happens within the first month so… winner, winner chicken dinner. This Kat is so dammed fast in that brain box. Jack knew he was doing a good job but wondered if he might have a word there too, he has his own connections after all.

Alice needed a job.
