Cynthia Shirona to Professor Oak
I realize that my previous message only came quite recently, but I thought I should make you aware of a recent development.
I mentioned in the past the way that historical research can be a lot like looking for a needle that might not be there in a very large haystack, and that the information you are looking for may not be available – or, if it is available, you may not know it. As it turns out, however, this is one of those cases where going out and looking may not have been the appropriate course of action at all.
Recently, I found something significant among the collected papers and effects of an ancestor of mine. I looked into them in the past, of course, as you might expect, but the main thing I determined about them was that they were a member of the Gingko Guild of merchants that were active hundreds of years ago in the area we now call Sinnoh, and that they were the earliest I could trace my ancestry directly in the Sinnoh region.
While looking for something else entirely, however, I came across a formal outfit in their effects. I last saw it some years ago, but had completely forgotten it, and on examining it I realized that the outfit appears deliberately designed to resemble an Arceus.
This isn't conclusive, but it's close, and also among their effects I found a ciphered journal. On checking it with other Gingko Guild materials, it's clearly not in the standard guild cipher, and consequently I suspect that the contents of the journal include something unusual.
Based partly on this, but also out of general interest, I'd like to suggest that Ash might visit Sinnoh in future. Much of my time is occupied by my duties at the moment, but I anticipate having much of the following year free, and while I would normally spend it doing research into my hobbies… based on what I've already heard about Ash I think that journeying with him would be better research than anything else I can think of.
Though, of course, the decision is up to him. I'd share anything I found out regardless.
