A Guardian named Ghost floated over to a statue and drew purple light from it. Sonic jumped off the platform he was on and went up a pully, grinded off a rail, bounced off a spring and jumped from wall through loops to reach the statue and draw a Cyloop. The statue disintegrated and purple light flew into the Ghost. It made a loud screech before blowing up. Sonic jumped and caught the Gear before descending to the ground. "Alrighty. Next stop…"

Date took a step into what she thought was Shinjuku. But something seemed off. "What in the world…?" She looked around. "This… this looks like Shinjuku… back when everything went crazy…"

"Makiko." Behind the detective was a tall rabbit creature wearing red eyes purple pants with brown and white fur stood close by. "I don't think this is your world."

"Huh? What do you mean Antylamon?"

"Something feels off… I feel a vast digital presence around us. Even greater than the Digital Shift. Could this be part of that "Cyber Space" Sage brought up after she restored your memories of me?"

Date put a hand on her hip. "Huh… Is this the place kid? …Kid?" Date looked around. "Where the heck did that twerp go?! Matayoshi's gone too! Oh, I swear if that brat just dumped us in the middle of nowhere to kidnap Matayoshi I am gonna arrest her and throw away the key!"

"I don't think she would do that after bringing us back together." Antylamon said. "We must have gotten separated."

"Fantastic." Date huffed. "Well… at least I'm not alone." She smiled at Antylamon. "I still can't believe I could ever forget about you buddy."

"Don't feel bad Makiko. It was a result of the world transforming."

"And according to Sage that was because of something Nokia, Takumi and their friends did while I was helping Ryuji save his sister, right?"

"Magnamon told me that five humans saved our worlds by defeating the Eaters. But I had no idea the detective the nice lady who helped Tokomon and the leader of the Rebels were among them."

"Hmm. I guess I'll ask Nokia for more details later. If she really is here like Sage said, we'll surely run into her. First things first though…" Date looked around. "I gotta figure out what I'm supposed to do here."

"Let's look around for clues!" Antylamon said. "Er, that's what detectives do, right?"

Date grinned. "You got that right partner! Nothing good will come from standing around. So, let's do some searching!"

Sonic ran up towards another Cyber Space Portal. "Huh. So far whenever I'm not going inside one of these things at the same time as one of Takumi's pals, I end up running into somebody from his world." He put the gear in and activated the gate. "I wonder who I'll bump into this time…" He put his hand on it and was transported to Cyber Space.

Date and Antylamon proceeded their walk through the replicated city. The detective came to a stop in front of the subway entrance. "Ugh…"

Antylamon tilted his head. "Makiko? What's wrong?"

"It was here. Matayoshi and I were attacked by one of those creepy tentacle monsters."

"You mean the Eaters? How awful! Were you okay?"

"Yeah. That Takumi kid came in the nick of time to save our hides."

"You got that right."

Hearing a voice made Date jolt and turn around. "W-w-who's there?!"

Out from a corner a woman with brown hair in a police uniform. "He really did save you. Even with how rude you always were to him."

Antylamon gapped. "M…Makiko?!"

The detective paled at the sight of a duplicate of herself. "What… how…?!"

"But I guess he shouldn't take it personally. Who aren't you obnoxiously rude to?"

"What's going on here?!" Antylamon asked. "Why does this person look just like you Makiko?!"

"Are you ripping off my look?!" the detective glared. "I'll arrest you for identity theft!"

The copy scoffed. "Of course. Always your answer to everything. Whenever you see someone, you look for an excuse to peg them as a bad guy."

"Excuse me?!"

"Am I wrong? Look back at all the people you've ever threatened with violence or jail. How many of them were actually guilty of something?"

"Uh…"

"Poor Takumi took the worst of it you know. I mean you've been hounding the guy ever since you met him. He was suffering from a strange phenomenon and what did you do the moment you set eyes on him? You threatened to arrest him with no explanation whatsoever."

"I-I couldn't help it okay?! His was glowing blue, how could I not freak out at the sight of it!?"

"And you felt that was a reason to arrest him instead of maybe helping him? You fear what you don't understand and do away with what you fear. How sad. You joined the police force because you wanted to change from the troublemaker you once were, but name one thing about you that has changed since you joined aside from you having a gun and a badge to threaten people with?"

Date fell silent. "I… I…"

"What are you talking about?!" Antylamon stepped forward. "Makiko helped me when I was lost and alone in this world! She had no reason to do that, but she did anyway! It was because of her help that I came to trust humans!"

"Uh huh, and how much of the help came from her and how much of it was from Takumi and Nokia?"

"The detective and his friend may have helped me find Tokomon, but it was Mikoko who helped me! I won't forgive you for making fun of her!"

Date smiled. "Antylamon…"

The copy snorted. "Wow. You're just surrounded by people who will fight your battles for you huh? Takumi, Keisuke, Matayoshi, Ryuji, and now him."

"Hey, don't think you can look down on me just because you're ripping off my look witch!"

"That's not the only one I can "rip off"." The copy smirked and her eyes glowed red. A flash of red light swallowed her, and she transformed into a second Antylamon with slightly lighter fur.

"Oh, how original." Date scoffed.

Antylamon stepped up. "Makiko! I'm gonna teach this copycat a lesson!"

"Yeah, let's get her!" Date cracked her knuckles.

The evil Antylamon cackled. "Just try."

The two Antylamon stood ready to fight. They both dashed towards each other and locked hands as they grappled, pushing at each other. They were at a standstill until the evil Antylamon headbutted Date's Digimon then kicked him in the torso knocking him back. After sliding back, Date's Antylamon dodged a punch then grabbed his evil twin's arm and started spinning him around before he threw him into a building. The evil one landed against the wall on his feet and sprung back at Antylamon and tackled him to the ground. The good Antylamon moved his head out of the way of two punches from the copy on top of him then pushed him off with his feet. "Nice!" Date grinned.

"We got this Mikoto!" Antylamon grinned. "Bunny Blades!" His hands morphed into two axes.

The copy got up and did the same. "Treasure Axe!" They both ran at each other, and their weapons clashed with a loud clang.

They growled at each other before they both jumped away. "Asipatravana!" They both started spinning like tops and bounced off each other repeatedly as they circled around each other. They started to pick up speed with their spins before they rammed into each other resulting in a hurricane that nearly blew Date away. The evil Antylamon then ducked under his enemy's axes and got a swipe on him before drop kicking him.

Sonic bounced off a spring with a propeller repeatedly ascending into the air before reaching a series of rainbow loops that flung him to a path taking him to his goal.

The evil Antylamon reeled back his fist. "Arm Bomber!" Despite guarding Date's Antylamon was hit with enough force to knock her onto the ground.

"Antylamon!" Date ran over to him. "You okay?! Say something!"

"I'm alright…" Antylamon sat up. "For a knock off, he's tough. What should I do?"

"Well…" Mikoto thought for a moment. "Okay, he knows all of your moves, so try to avoid doing anything obvious I guess."

"That's…" Antylamon blinked. "Wait… are you saying I should change my tactics?"

"Suuuuure?"

"Wait… he has the same moves as me…" Antylamon smiled. "That's it! Mikoto, you're a genius!"

"I am?"

Antylamon sprung to his feet and rushed at his opponent again. "Bunny Blades!" He started spinning.

"Haven't we danced this waltz before?" the copy laughed. "Alright then… Treasure Axe!" He started spinning towards his opponent again. Just as they approached each other, Antylamon ducked under his copy's axes instead of clashing with them and swept his leg tripping his foe. "Hey!" The good Antylamon then slashed upward blowing his copy into the air. He then jumped after it and slammed his axes down on the replica hammering him to the ground.

The copy got up and started jumping around Antylamon rapidly. "Ugh, I can't keep track of him, he's too fast!" Date growled.

"Not to worry." Antylamon said. He whirled around. "Arm Bomber!" His fist smashed into the copy's face and slammed him into the ground.

"How…?" the copy weakly moaned.

"I simply asked myself what I would do. Thanks for the tip, Makiko."

"Of course! I AM a detective I'll have you know!"

The evil Antylamon laughed. "You? A detective?" He slowly stood up. "You do not fully grasp the concept."

"What do you mean?!"

"A detective acts not only on simple impulse, but works with facts and evidence. All you do is threaten to arrest anybody you don't happen to like."

"Excuse me?! I graduated from the police academy! I'm a full-fledged detective I'll have you know!"

"Then answer this: Why did you need to force Takumi Aiba to help you with that missing persons case?"

"I… Uh…"

"Was it not because you were simply incapable of solving it yourself? So instead, you threw your problems onto some kid who in the end did what you clearly could not!"

"That was a one-time thing I had to do, okay?!"

"Was it? Then what about that time you needed Keisuke's help with getting past a security program?"

"W-well…"

"Do you see? Your incompetence was what made you drag others into your problems, forcing them onto them. Takumi is more of a detective than you ever were despite being younger. You wanted to change who you were. But in the end, you're still the same hotheaded coward who threatens others and causes trouble!"

"That's...!"

"Perhaps that's why you can't help but lash out at him. Because he's everything you're not. Your jealousy clouds your judgment. Much like your foolish temper."

"Enough!" Antylamon brought out his Bunny Blades again. He jumped at the copy ready to finish it off. The evil Antylamin smirked as his eyes went from red to yellow before a black orb swallowed him. Antylamon's axes clanged against the substance not even scratching it. "What?!" He backed away.

"What's that thing doing?!" Date asked.

"I dunno!"

"Antylamon Digivolve to...!" The black sphere shattered and out came a dark purple and blue goliath with long ears yellow eyes and a wicked grin. "Cherubimon!"

"GYAAAAH!" Date screamed. "What is that thing?!"

"It digivolved!" Antylamon replied.

"You mean like what you did?"

The evil Digimon cackled. "Oh, this is nothing like your puny power boost Date. Unlike you I obtained my power through a clarity in vision you lack. Allow me to demonstrate." It held up its hand and a javelin of red lightning formed in his hand. "Lightning Spear!"

Antylamon ducked under the attack. He and Date looked behind them and watched it explode in red light behind them in the distance. "...Huh..." Date murmured. "Uh oh."

Antylamon turned back at Cherubimon and ran at it. He jumped and swung his bladed arms only for the target to disappear. "Where'd it go?"

Date watched it reappear. "Behind you!" Antylamon turned around and was flicked in the face by Cherubimon and flung into the air. Cherubimon then appeared above him as he rocketed towards him and slapped him downward. After cratering into the ground Antylamon tried to stand up, but Cherubimon slammed down on top of him. "Antylamon!" Cherubimon laughed as he stomped on Antylamon repeatedly. Then he punted him over to Date. "This is bad! Can't you digivolve too?!"

"It's not something I can just do at will..."

"Digvolution requires a strong will and a clear vision. Both of which you lack." Cherubimon laughed.

Antylamon stood up. "Don't you... make fun of Makiko!" He ran at the monster again.

Cherubimon held up his hand. "Storm of Judgment!" Red lightning came down striking Antylamon. She screamed before collapsing.

"Antylamon!" Date ran over to her Digimon.

Cherubimon laughed. "As I thought! Your weak will and pathetic judgment are incapable of giving that runt the power to match me!"

Date dropped to her knees. "Is this... is this really all I can do? I tried so hard… I thought I could make myself a better person..."

"Ha! You always have and always will be the pathetic fool who causes trouble! Just look at that Digimon! He was dragged here and beaten as a result of your incompetence! You're no Cyber Sleuth. You're no Hudie hacker. And you're certainly no Shinjuku Matagi. You're just a corrupt cop using her power to push people around like a playground bully."

Date just stared at the floor. "Has... nothing truly changed? Am I still no different from who I was before...?"

Cherubimon held up his hand. "Look on the bright side. At least nobody will mourn you." He grinned wickedly. "Storm of-

"Ha!" Sonic came flying in with a Wild Rush smacking him in the side of the face. He followed up with Sonic Boom. Cherubimon took most of the hits before he started blocking and then grabbed Sonic and tossed him to the floor. He rolled on the ground for a bit before getting back up and looking at Date. "Oh. Hello."

"Who... who is that Makiko?" Antylamon asked.

"I have no idea..." Date replied. "Never met him before."

"Oh I'm just a guy who's been hanging out with that kid you love to harass. ...One of them."

Cherubimon wiped its face. "I don't know who you are and frankly I don't care. If you get in the way of me delivering justice, you will regret it."

"Justice" huh?" Sonic asked. "Is that what you call beating on a cop and her friend here?"

"Is it not justice to destroy evil?"

"Please, there's more to justice than just hurting people. Beating on others just because of what they did in the past is just being petty."

"Please! I'm no less petty than that fake cop over there!"

Date tucked her knees into her chest. "…It's true. Who was I kidding? I haven't changed at all."

"What are you talking about?" Sonic asked.

"I joined the force thinking I could be like Matayoshi. Someone who solves problems instead of creating them. Yet all I've done is use my position to harass everyone around me. I thought I was paying him back. I just proved to be even more of a headache."

"If you regret what you were before, then you can change yourself."

"Were you even listening to me?! I DID try to change myself and nothing happened!"

"Then you try again!" Sonic said. "Nobody gets everything right on the first go! And they don't change overnight either! Learn from your mistakes and strive to do better next time! Making blunders is all part of the process! And the fact that you realized them is a big step! Are you really just going to throw your goals away after they're finally within your sight?"

"Easier said than done. Takumi and Keisuke grew up far more a lot sooner than I did."

"Yeah. And do you know why? Because they also made their share of mistakes! I saw them myself! Nobody in this world is perfect!"

"He's right Makiko…"

Date looked at her Digimon. "Antylamon…?"

"You didn't drag me into this. I wasn't threatened into it either. I chose to come here to help you. After you helped me."

"But…"

"Magnamon once said anyone can change if they try. Look at me. I'm Antylamon now because of the courage you gave me."

"Lopmon..."

"I'm not half the Digimon Magnamon is. And maybe you're not half the person Matayoshi is. But together we can be something even greater."

"Even greater...?"

"Exactly!" Sonic smiled. "Takumi is who he is now because he has his Digimon! His family! Lopmon's gentle attitude, your brash attitude, I think both of you will grow a lot if you take time to learn from each other!"

"And even if you're not perfect..." Antylamon smiled. "You're my partner. And I wouldn't take any other."

Date stood up and smiled. "...Antylamon... you're a better partner then I could ask for." The moment she stroked his fur the Digimon glowed gold. "Ah! Did I do something wrong?!"

"No Makiko... Your kindness is giving me power...!" A golden light swallowed Antylamon up. "Antylamon Digivolve to..." The golden orb expanded then exploded with holy light. "Cherubimon!" Date's Digimon turned into another Cherubimon that was pink and white with less sinister eyes.

The evil Cherubimon stared at him. "...Now who's the copycat?"

"Antylamon... you did that Digivolve thing again!"

"That's right." the good Cherubimon nodded. "Neither Lopmon nor Makiko can do this on their own. But with our hearts together we can get through this with the true power of Cherubimon!"

The evil Cherubimon laughed. "You think that power can match mine? I am the true Cherubimon! You're just as much of a hallow impersonation of me as that woman is of a detective!"

"Yeah. I am a lousy detective." Date admitted. "I struggle with cases and accuse innocent people. But that doesn't mean I can't change! I'll continue to learn and grow! Together with Cherubimon!"

Sonic smirked. "Well then, what say we take another go at this detectives? The big case is waiting!"

"Yeah!" the pink Cherubimon cheered.

"I'll shut all of your mouths permanently!" The evil Cherubimon roared and red lightning flashed behind it. Sonic moved in first with a Homing Attack. Evil Cherubimon blocked it with his fist then flicked him. He opened his mouth and black substance flew at him. Sonic jumped back away from it. The good Cherubimon flew in and swung his arm down. The copy blocked it with one hand then rammed its palm into him with the other. Sonic then drew a Cyloop around the copy stunning it. Date's Cherubimon flew in and knocked it into the air. He and Sonic nodded to each other. Sonic jumped into his palm, and he tossed him into the sky. He rammed into the enemy and used a Spin Slash. He then got a combo before using Stomp to knock it to the ground. It banged its fists onto the ground as it got back up. "Storm of Judgment!"

Sonic and Cherubimon started dodging crimson lightning. When he noticed one striking close to Date, Cherubimon flew in and grabbed her before she could get hit. "Thanks."

"Not a problem partner!" Cherubimon held up his free hand. "Heaven's Judgment!" Gold lighting started raining down. Two large bolts struck the evil Cherubimon halting its attack. Sonic started a Phantom Rush on the copy. When it tried to swing at him, he parried then retaliated with a Grand Slam.

Evil Cherubimon stumbled back. "Thousand Spears!" It spread its arms and multiple red spikes flew towards its targets. Cherubimon held up his free hand forming a barrier to protect him and Date. Sonic dodged each and every one as he got close. Once he ran past the copy he started circling around it with Cross Slash knocking it out of its attack. It whirled around and smacked Sonic across the street. The Hedgehog grabbed a street pole and swung on it before propelling himself back at the enemy who was grabbing Cherubimon by his right hand and face. Date climbed up her partner's other arm and jumped off to punch the copy in the face. Sonic then rammed it from behind with Wild Rush. The good Cherubimon now with two free hands grabbed his twin and threw it across the street. The copy got up and snarled at them. "Lightning Blast!"

"Remember!" Date said. "Its powers are the same as yours!"

"Got it!" Her Cherubimon held his hands forward and caught the giant red lightning bolt. It turned gold in his hands before he pushed it back into his opponent knocking it over as it was zapped.

"Nice!"

Cherubimon grinned at his foe. "Now what was that you were saying about Mikiko not being capable of thinking things through?"

On the ground the copy hissed. "Don't you mock me!" He got back up.

"Time to wrap this up!" Date said.

Both Cherubimon held up a hand. A gold bolt came into the holy Cherubimon's hand. A red bolt into the vile one. "Lightning… Spear!" They charged at each other ready to stab. But once they were close to each other Sonic hit the copy with a Homing Attack knocking it off balance. Good Cherubimon then went in for the kill piercing his evil twin with his spear. The copy howled as its mouth and eyes spewed golden light before exploding in a holy flash.

"That takes care of that." Sonic smirked dusting off his hands.

"Alright!" Date ran over and grabbed Cherubimon's hand. "You were awesome big guy!"

"No, we were awesome!" Cherubimon replied. "You and I together Makiko!"

"Uh, yeah, I helped too." Sonic muttered.

"Oh, right, thanks spiky Veemon!"

"It's Sonic."

"Huh. And here I thought all Digimon ended with "mon"." Date said.

"That's because I'm a hedgehog!"

"Pfft! Okay buddy sure, you're a hedgehog. And I'm a 1980s air pilot."

"Wait, really?!" Cherubimon asked looking gleefully at Date. "That sounds amazing!"

"Uh, no, I was being...GAH!"

"What's with you?" Sonic asked the shaking detective.

"G-g-ghost!"

Sonic looked where she was pointing. "That's not a ghost... That's part of Takumi's data!"

"What?" Date squinted for a better look. "Wait, it is him! What's going on with him, why is he glowing like that?!"

"Long story." Sonic walked over and tapped the fragment. It glowed as Takumi's memories came pouring out.

Takumi, Arata, Nokia, Yuuko, Yuugo, Alphamon and their Digimon stood in the Digital World now restored to its natural beauty. "This takes me back." Arata smiled.

Nokia nodded. "Yeah! It's the Digital World as we saw it way back when!"

Takumi noticed something above them. "Hey, look!" Everyone stared at the sky. Multiple blue lights flew above them.

"It's so beautiful." Yuuko said.

"What's that?" Yuugo asked.

"It's the Mental Data preserved within the Eaters' network." Alphamon explained.

"All of that is?" Yuuko asked.

"Yes. King Drasil is sending it back to your world."

"And that will heal EDEN Syndrome, right?" Arata asked.

"Heal… that's not quite the word, really, but something similar to that will likely occur, yes. A phenomenon you humans would call miraculous."

"I don't quite get it. But Takumi and Yuugo will wake up?!" Nokia asked.

"Hmph. And therein lies the miracle."

Everyone turned to Yuugo and Takumi. "…! My… My brother!"

"That… That's excellent!" Nokia teared up. Yuugo and Takumi smiled at each other.

Then a bright orb of digitalized light flew by everyone surprising them. "Aaah!" Yuuko gasped.

"What is that?!" Arata asked.

Nokia looked at it. "Wait, what's going on?! This is too adores!"

"This sphere is the Eater's original form." Alphamon explained.

"What?" Nokia's smile faded and they all backed away. "Yeeeesh!" Alphamon proceeded to explain a very complex theory only for Nokia to scream. Alphamon then said she wanted to give one last info dump before King Drasil sent the four humans back to their world. Nokia sadly looked at Agumon and Gabumon. "Does this mean we'll have never met each other? That we're all gonna forget each other?"

"Perhaps." Agumon frowned.

"That's… that's…"

Takumi looked at his Digimon. "No… I… I didn't want it to end like this…"

"But in that case, we can just meet again!" Gabumon said.

"I'm certain everything will work out!" Agumon added.

"Yeah… right?" Nokia smiled. "Everything will work out, one way or another! What I mean is, we'll make it work out!" She hugged the two Digimon.

Takumi sadly looked down. "Takumi…" Rapidmon Armor asked. "Is this how you want us to see you off? With such an unhappy look?"

Rosemon Burst Mode kneeled down to him. "Takumi… King Drasil can try all he wants. But there is nothing he can do that will make us forget about you."

"Or are you concerned that you will forget about us?" Craniamon asked.

"What?! No! I would never forget you!"

"Then don't worry." Rapidmon Armor said. "You guys came over to our world eight years ago. And since then, you have made the impossible possible on many occasions. I know someday you will find a way to bring humans and Digimon together again!"

Tears came down Takumi's eyes. "Everyone…"

"We will continue to look for a means to safely bring humans and Digimon together." Craniamon said. "How long it takes is irrelevant. We will find our way back to you."

"So please…" Rosemon Burt Mode smiled. "Dry those tears. Let us see our big brother off with a smile on his face. The smile that encouraged us time and time again."

Takumi rubbed his tears away with his arm. He took a deep breath and smiled. "You're right. I know this story is far from over. There has to be a solution to how to bring humans and Digimon together peacefully again. And I will find it."

"There's that smile!"

Craniamon looked at Takumi's friends. "Takumi… you are not alone. You never will be. Even if we are not there with you physically, the strong feelings we have installed into each other will remain. Hold onto those feelings and we will never truly be apart."

"Remember what Mirei said?" Rapidmon Armor asked. "You have the power to make your own destiny. So just make one where we will meet again."

"And we will meet again." Rosemon Burst Mode said. "Because we're not just friends. We're also family."

Takumi smiled to his Digimon. "…Alright. Whatever it takes."

"Well, it seems it's almost time." Alphamon said. "We'll send you back and recall the Digimon. The door that has been opened will be closed." Everyone nodded. "Farewell, human children! The worlds will return to the way they should be. A wide, accepting, and yet chaotic place…That's the world we live in. And the crazy, beautiful, loveable world that raised all of you, our friends… I hope the day comes when your children and us, the Digimon, can become friends once again."

"This isn't goodbye forever." Takumi said. "Our worlds will always be connected. And so will we. So, I'm not going to say goodbye. …Because I know we will meet again."

Alphamon kneeled to Takumi. She gently patted his head. It was odd. Kyoko did that a lot with Takumi. At first it annoyed him because it felt like she was treating him like a kid. But over time he got used to it. Now it made him feel warm. "And now this case is finally closed." Takumi smiled as he and the knight nodded. A green orb encased Takumi Arata, Nokia, Yuuko and Yuugo and started to ascend them.

"Agumon! Gabumon! Thanks to you, we grew stronger!" Nokia shouted. She and Takumi waved. "Thank you! Bye-bye!"

"We will most assuredly meet again!" Gabumon shouted.

"Buh bye, everybody!" Agumon yelled.

"Takumi! Be strong!" Rapidmon Armor yelled.

"We'll never forget you!" Rosemon Burst Mode cried.

"We will meet again!" Craniamon added. "Sometime! Somewhere!"

Takumi watched the Digimon leave his sight. "Terriermon… Palmon… Hagurumon… I love you all."

The five children flowed through a void of light. They passed by numerous Digimon. Including the remaining Royal Knights. Magnamon turned back and waved with Nokia waving them off. She then sadly looked down. "Everyone's going home…"

"Does this mean that Digimon are going to be leaving our world?" Arata asked.

"If so, things are going to get awfully lonely." Yuuko said.

Takumi sighed. "Yeah…"

Yuugo started to drift away. "Yuugo?!" Yuuko gasped.

"It's okay, Yuuko. My cyber form is returning to my physical body."

Yuuko smiled. "Th-then that means…!"

"Yes. I'll have a real body, after eight years… It will feel very heavy and confining."

"Don't worry." Arata smiled. "I'll be there to help you with your rehabilitation!"

Yuugo laughed. "Just go easy on me. Okay then, see you soon!" He became a blue light and flew ahead.

Arata and Yuuko watched him leave before turning to Takumi and Nokia. "We made it!" Arata grinned.

"Let's go home…" Yuuko smiled. "Our world is waiting!"

"Yeah!" Nokia nodded. She turned to Takumi and offered her hand. "Let's go home! All of us, together!"

Takumi smiled to his friends and nodded. "Alright." He reached out to Nokia's hand. "Together."

The moment he held Nokia's hand everything went black.

Everyone was silent as the vision faded. "…What the heck was that?" Date asked. "Where'd all that go?"

"And where did the detective go?" Cherubimon asked.

"That was a fragment of Takumi's mental data." Sonic replied.

"A fragment?" Date asked.

A portal appeared. "Let's get out of here before something else comes out to attack. I'll update you two back in the island."

"Island?" Date watched Sonic walk into the portal. "Hey, wait!" She and Cherubimon ran after him.

"…So yeah, that's it in a nutshell."

Date and Cherubimon blinked as they stood in front of the gate with Sonic. "…I'd question your sanity on that story if it didn't fit with the rest of the crazy stuff going on." Date said.

"So, I'm guessing Sage brought you here as well?"

"Me and Matayoshi. Wait, "as well"?"

"Sage seems to have been recruiting a number of people from your world."

Sage appeared. "There you are."

"You!" Date glared. "Thanks for dumping us off in the middle of Cyber Space alone! We nearly bit it back there! And where's Matayoshi?"

"Somewhere else in Cyber Space. I tried looking around, but I can't find him." She looked down. "I'm sorry. Traveling between our worlds has proven more difficult after Crusadermon started drawing them towards each other. And the damage is increasing. I don't think I will be able to get any more help."

"Don't worry about it, Sage we got enough hands to deal with this now thanks to you." Sonic said. "And from what I saw in Takumi and Keisuke's memories, the old dude's tougher than he looks. And if he's still in Cyber Space, we'll find him."

Date exhaled. "It's true. Matayoshi's been through worse. He can take care of himself. By the way, what's with all the weird… huts around us? Was this a village?"

"Once the Ancients landed on this world they cultivated islands to be their home." Sage said. "This place in particular was meant for prayer and reflection. They hoped to live in peace."

"So, what, it's basically a church? But if they came from a planet far away, did they have anyone here to pray to? Or were they just that scared?"

"When they learned their enemy had followed them here, they prepared to defend this world. The walls, cannons, towers – all for a desperate last stand."

"That explains all the stuff Takumi and I've seen on the run." Sonic said. "We wondered if they were preparing for a fight. Now I know."

"This is where the Ancients gathered to simply be together. To cherish those who were left."

Cherubimon frowned. "They must have known their time was running out…"

"That is why they recorded everything." Sage replied gesturing to the Cyber Space portal. "Their history, their aspirations, their hopes, their dreams… so they would never be truly gone."

"We had places like this back in the Digital World back when the Eaters attacked. Magnamon would shelter me and Tokomon there. Every time we got to a new one there are less Digimon around… I bet the Ancients felt as scared as we were… I feel so sorry for them Makiko…"

Date sighed. "Me too… It's a tragedy."

"Oh, look who it is." Fei aproached them.

"Oh. It's you." Date scowled.

"Sup Fei." Sonic said. "Any luck finding Crusadermon?"

"None so far. That gutless coward's good at hiding if nothing else."

"We still do not know what the rest of her plan is." Sage said. "I hope we find her before she can proceed with it."

"No way!" Nokia ran towards them. "Heeeey!"

Date turned around. "Nokia!"

"Date, is that you?!" the girl gleamed. "Oh, and we got Fei as a bonus."

"What do you mean "a bonus"?" Fei scowled.

"Are you hurt at all Nokia?!" Date asked. "I heard what happened!"

"I'm all good! Thanks to my handy partner here! I see you got a Digimon with you too!"

"Yup. It's the Lopmon you guys were sheltering all grown up."

"Wow, look at you Lopmon! Hard to believe you grew up so- Nokia paused when something occurred to her. "Wait…. Date, you also remember everything that happened before with Digimon?!"

"Yup. And I got my old Digimon buddy back too." Date looked at Cherubimon. "Still hard to believe you grew up so fast. Feels like yesterday when I found you as Lopmon. Heh… I have mixed feelings about this. I mean this new form is awesome, but I kinda miss cute little Lopmon too."

"Heh, heh. I know the feeling." Nokia giggled looking at Omnimon Alter-S. "But they weren't going to stay their cutsie little selves forever. They're like kids, they gotta grow up at some point."

"Yeah, I guess. Heh. Now I'm thinking about how my parents broke into tears when they saw me graduate. I wonder if this is how they felt…"

Sonic looked back and forth between Date and Nokia. "So, you ladies seem to know each other pretty well."

"Of course, we do!" Nokia smiled. "Date's my cousin!"

Fei flinched. "…You know what? That adds up."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Date glared.

"Wow!" Cherubimon looked at Omnimon Alter-S. "Omnimon, you look different!"

"Look who's talking." the Royal Knight chuckled. "Magnamon's little companion grew up. What I would give to have him see you now."

Fei looked at Date while pointing her thumb at Sage. "So, I take it the weird kid brought you over and put your memories back too?"

"Hey, Sage isn't weird!" Nokia protested. "She's just a bit socially awkward."

"I dunno, a kid that floats around, jumps between worlds and acts to situations the way she does tends to make me a tad unnerved."

"Forget about it, Fei." Sonic said. "Imagine how it feels for me and Takumi after all the times she attacked us."

"Whatever. I'm grateful she brought me here and helped me remember what's important to me." Fei said. "Though why she'd bother doing so for this annoying cop is beyond me."

"You wanna start something punk?" Date glared.

Sonic stepped in between them. "Alright you two, save your hostility for the spooky sky voice and Crusadermon. Right now, we need to work together to stop these monsters."

"Then let's get out there and stomp these clowns already!" Date said.

"You make it sound easy." Sage said. "But neither the Ancients' enemy nor Crusadermon will back down from an empty arrest threat like the ones you childishly used on Keisuke and Takumi."

"Dosen't mean I can't- Date then glared at Sage. "Wait a sec, what do you mean "empty arrest threat"?!"

"You accused them of things without an arrest warrant, a proper case, or evidence. Therefore, they would have been released almost immediately after you took them in resulting in your permanent record being damaged and your reputation being forever stained. Therefore, your constant threats were empty."

"Why you little…! How about I turn you in and then we'll see how "empty" my "threats" are!"

"Do you have evidence or a warrant?"

Fei laughed. "Okay, I change my mind, this kid's an absolute delight!"

Date groaned. "That stupid Takumi is still giving me a headache and he's not even here!"

"Come on cousin, I mean Takumi may be a handful sometimes, but he did help a lot of people and did the whole world a favor, can't we just help him out in return?" Nokia asked.

Date sighed. "Yeah, fine, I mean if nothing else I guess I still kinda owe him one for helping me with that missing persons case…"

"Don't forget the time he saved you and Matayoshi from that Eater in Shinjuku." Sonic pointed out.

"Additionally, there's the time you sent him to destroy the Eater in Asakusa." Sage added.

"Okay, okay, I get it!" Date growled. "Yeah… I was kind of a colossal pain for the kid, so I guess it's time for me to step up. To be the detective I wanted to be."

"That's the spirit!" Nokia cheered. "So Sage, who else did you bring to this world?"

"Aside from Yuugo and Matayoshi who have yet to be located in Cyber Space…"

"Yuugo is here too?!"

"Affirmative. As is Yu Nogi, Chitose Imai, and Ryuji Mishima."

"What?!" Date shouted and ran right up to Sage. "Ryuji is here?! Where is he?!"

"He and Chitose went to search form Keisuke and Erika to help them find Crusadermon."

"Say something sooner next time! Come on Cherubimon, we got a Crusadermon to hunt!"

"Roger!" Cherubimon flew after Date.

"Be careful!" Omnimon Alter-S warned as they left. "Crusadermon is both powerful and clever!"

Fei groaned. "Come on TigerVespamon, we better go after them."

"Are you sure?"

"I hate to say it but we're not having much luck finding Crusadermon on our own. If she's gonna to do the same, we might as well work together."

"Understood."

"Thanks Fei!" Nokia smiled as the hacker got on her Digimon. "Keep Date safe!"

"Relax, would you?" Fei asked. "Like you she may be a total dunce, but she's at least tough where it counts." TigerVespamon flew off with her.

"Let's leave this to them." Sonic said before he noticed a turquoise light shining upward in the distance. "Looks like I got another Emerald to grab. Catch you guys later!" He then took off.

"See you around Sonic!" Nokia waved. She then looked to Sage. "Hey Sage, can you let Arata and Yuuko know that Yuugo and Detective Matayoshi are in Cyber Space so they know to keep an eye out for them?"

"Understood. I will locate and inform them immediately."

"Thanks Sage, you're a true-blue friend!"

"Friend? I never-

"Come on Omnimon, time to get back to it!"

"Of course." The knight and his Tamer took off.

Sage floated there quietly. "…A friend…"

As Sage said, this is the last of the surprises she'll be bringing in from Cyber Sleuth. Next chapter we see how an old detective handles Cyber Space.
