Percy and Lou stood besides one another, staring ahead at the snakewood tree. He had a grin on his face and rubbed his arm as he glared over at Lou. "What was that for?" He complained.
"You weren't listening to me!" Lou complained. Her face was etched in annoyance, "I don't have any gut feeling about this year." She declared.
He looked confused, "What do you mean? You always have one."
Lou shrugged, "Maybe it just isn't my year." She countered, "Do you have a gut feeling?"
"I just think that this'll be a good year." Percy shrugged.
She rolled her eyes, "Always the optimistic one." Her eyes glanced over at the main entrance of the school. "Mom is calling us over." She said and dragged Percy with her.
Percy just walked along as he looked over at the tree. "Don't you get a weird feeling from the tree?" He questioned. The daughter of Hecate just looked confused and shook her head.
The two walked up onto the balcony and looked down into the entrance hall, the Gordian knot was still there and he watched as his mother stood in the middle, with a smile on her face, she looked up at them and winked before looking at the opening doors where the new students walked into.
Loudly he cheered whenever a student chose the Wampus statue, another addition to their house. Besides him, Lou would celebrate whenever one of them would choose to be a Thunderbird. None of the new students were chosen by all four, or three. Some have been chosen for two houses but most were chosen by one.
It seriously made Percy think about how they were chosen by many houses. Then at last he frowned and squinted at the face that appeared. "What the fuck?" He questioned under his breath and Lou nodded as well.
There stood the beautiful witch that he could recognize from anywhere, tall and slender and silvery blonde hair down to her waist. "Fleur?" His mind was racing, what was she doing here, how did she get here and when did she get here.
Then to his greatest surprise, three houses moved, showing that they want her in their houses. She pointed at the roaring wampus and Percy blinked before clapping slowly. It must've been an illusion, maybe it was a distant cousin that looked exactly like her.
Then every student from the balcony began to get their move on, Percy was being dragged away from the circular window where everyone was looking from and into the dinner hall where he stood before the table and looked at the new students. His mind was racing.
"Perseus?"
He turned around and there she was in all of her glowing glory, "Fleur." He said breathlessly and the girl quickly threw her arms over his shoulders. "What are you doing here?" He asked as he wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her closer.
"Going to school." She whispered and they pulled away from one another, he had a big smile on his face. "Have you heard of the treaty?" She asked.
"Only whispers." He answered and guided her to sit down besides him at the Wampus table. All of his friends were talking with one another, but he noticed their subtle stares and looks that they were giving him.
"Mon père works at the french ministry of magic, they introduced an exchange programme." She said excitedly, "The treaty made this an opportunity." Her eyes then averted to the space around them. "I could see when you said that Beauxbaton is more beautiful."
He laughed and shook his head, "Easily." He said and nodded, "But this is home." He gave her a small smile. Which Fleur reciprocated. "Why choose Wampus?"
"Who doesn't like bravery and determination?" She smiled at him.
Percy let out an amused breath and nodded, "Right." He said. "I'm glad you're here." He leant over and whispered to her.
"Me too." She replied and smiled at him. The tension buzzed between them and he had to tear his eyes away from her when he recognized the boy from the Horned Serpent stand before them, Anthony.
"Fleur!" He said, his eyes were slightly glazed over. "I've missed you. Want to try again for a lunch date?"
Percy sent her an amused look as he ate the pie in front of him. He remembers when Anthony had tried when they were back in France.
"No, sorry." She replied and smiled at him.
The boy deflated a bit and nodded, "Next time?" He asked and glared at Percy, as if he was interrupting their conversation.
Fleur raised her eyebrows at him, "No." She shook her head, "I'm not interested in you."
Percy cringed and it reminded him of when people would ask Silena out in front of him and eventually blame him for her saying 'no'. Which confused him like crazy, being that he was just laying down on the grass.
"Fine." The Serpent student said and glared at Percy one more time before moving back to his table. The son of Poseidon just raised his eyebrow at him and snorted.
"Always having it out for me." He muttered. "Excited for class tomorrow?"
"Very." Fleur said and smiled at him before dropping a fork with pie in her mouth. Percy followed the movement very closely as she licked her lips and he swallowed before focussing on his plate, keeping the small talk minimal.

September passed and October began, Fleur was getting into their routine more and more and Percy was just glad that she stuck with him and his friends. Mostly him and Lou though, since Mick had an unhealthy habit of dropping his stuff whenever she's around just to flirt with her. Dolly didn't really like what she was seeing whenever that happened.
Lou told him that it is because she liked Mick. But that there was history since she liked Percy when in their first year, so seeing him hang out with Fleur constantly was something that annoyed her to no end. Now that she saw it happen with Mick, it just made her jealous.
Dolly avoided them a lot lately. Percy was sad to see it happen.
The teachers were glad to see the talent that Fleur had. Their Defense against dark arts teacher who had started a dueling club at the beginning of September, had just handed her reins over to the two dueling champions.
That's when Percy realized that he really likes teaching, he does it every now and then at Camp Half-Blood but whenever magic came into play, he really liked explaining the etymology behind the spell and what made them.
Slowly, he got closer to Fleur as well, which he didn't believe was possible. Constantly they were seen together and never apart. Then came the annual ball, the celebration of the school and the tree as it stood there, growing alongside everyone.
As a son of one of the Professors, naturally he had to help. With his wand held out, he brought down the plates around the tree and set them together to make the ballroom floor. He stepped on them and smiled as he nodded at his mother, "They're very stable." He said.
"Still," She called back, "Add some balancing charms on them, or carve the runes in!"
Percy nodded and held his wand out, carving the runes on every individual tile would take all the time that he has for the rest of the day. Most were at the quidditch match, it was Horned Serpent against Thunderbird.
Some teachers were refereeing the match while most were outside setting the ball up. He bewitched the tiles to be balanced and not slippery, he knows that some people have two left feet, including him, sometimes. He hadn't danced in a while.
After bewitching the floors he and his mother bewitched the floating candles that floated up by the tree, of course, not close enough to start a fire. It was still light outside and defused, but the moment it was going to be dark, he knew that he loved to see the floating candles.
Then in the corner of his eyes he saw the person he grew to always be around with. Slowly he walked up and sat beside her, giving her a bright smile. "Hey." He said quietly. The girl looked up from her book and smiled as well.
"Hey blue." She whispered back and looked at the space around the tree that had been transformed into a sort of open air ballroom. "I wish for my wedding to be like that, outside." She shivered slightly, "Just not in autumn time, maybe spring."
Percy smiled and saw himself agreeing with her. "Spring warmth is what is missing here." He replied and took his robe off before wrapping it around her shoulders. "I wish for my wedding to be by a beach." He whispered and looked at the hiding sun behind the clouds.
Just the thought of having a wedding halted his heart. For a wizard, he knows that his life will be shorter than most. Under the pressure of being a great wizard also came the pressure of living up to his name, the son of Poseidon. He also knows that demigods like him, who live out in the wild, don't survive that long.
It was wishful thinking if he even thought about having a wedding. He looked over at Fleur to see her already looking at him. "We haven't danced together since our first year." She whispered, "Want to dance again, as my date for the ball?" She asked.
Percy raised his eyebrow at her and smiled. "Of course." He answered, "I would love to be your date for the ball."
Fleur smiled and leaned over to kiss his cheek, she then whispered by his ear, "We'll be wearing something red, maybe lipstick red." She said and pulled away. She smiled at his dazed expression before walking off.
"She's quite endearing." A voice said and Percy jumped, turning around to see his grinning mother. "Looks like we're going to get a new dress robe for you." She said and laughed slightly. "Oh Lou is going to love this."
Percy gaped at her, "No don't tell Lou! She'll never let go of this!"
"No need. I saw everything!" His sister appeared next to his mother, holding an omniocular in her hand. "I can replay your expression every time whenever I feel like it." She laughed gleefully before walking off.
With a look of betrayal he looked over to his mother and raised his eyebrows at her. "That was your birthday gift." He said.
His mother laughed, "I know right!"

They eventually went for a muggle suit. Percy liked the way they looked and so did Lou, Atticus happily took him to his favorite suit tailor. His older brother lectured him on how to woo a girl and make her happy. He tried to get Percy to dance with him in the store but the Son of Poseidon refused to, and stated that he already knew how to dance.
He was being teased, quite a lot.
When Mick first heard, he was happy for him. The boy had already asked Dolly out, which the girl happily agreed to.
Anthony threw a fit when he heard that Percy was going to the ball with Fleur. He had some weird obsession with her and he didn't think it was because of her veela attributes anymore. The boy had tried to hex Percy behind his back, but living on the constant edge as a demigod certainly made him more aware of his surroundings.
At the end, Anthony wasn't allowed to go to the ball anymore.
By the morning of the ball, they all tiredly stood up and sat down for breakfast in the great hall. Dolly sat with Fleur, casting looks at the boys. Imagine Percy's surprise when he saw Lou sit down with an older boy from Wampus. The boy, who is known to be Nicolas. Had asked her out very publicly at the dinner yesterday evening.
Percy threw her teasing looks and Lou just waved her hand at him, his plate of cereal was thrown into his face. He wiped his eyes as the rest of the milk drooped down his face. Mick was laughing and Fleur was as well, but she was the only one that reached out with a handkerchief to wipe his face.
His breath hitched when her fingers lingered by his lips a bit. He could see Lou at a distance cringe at the moment that she had unintentionally created. Then his cup of water was thrown into his face by a passing Anthony.
"Are you kidding me?" He exclaimed as he gave Anthony the middle finger. Professor King, who had supervision over breakfast, snorted and looked the other way, thoroughly entertained with their interaction.
—
"Oh wow." Percy whispered out in awe as he saw Fleur approach him in her dress. It went down to her knees and the dress showed off her collarbones perfectly. He suddenly felt underdressed as he tugged at his collar.
The black shirt he wore under his red blazer really showed off the colors. The tie he decided to forgo since he didn't like his neck being restricted. His black pants and shoes didn't stand out as much as his red blazer.
He held his hand out for her and smiled, "You look gorgeous." He whispered. He was unbothered by everyone staring at them, Fleur looked unbothered by their audience as well. She smiled at him and nodded.
"You're looking quite handsome as well." She whispered back. On the heels that she was wearing, she reached his height and the eye contact he could make without having to crane his neck at her was quite handy.
"Shall we?" He grinned at her and she smiled back with her pearly white teeth. "Let's." She nodded.
Together they walked from the Wampus dorm down to the ballroom and along the way, everyone would turn their heads. He knew that it had to be because of her veela powers, but Percy didn't care. He was the one with her hand in his.
The ball was already in full swing as people were dancing and being twirled around by their dates and Percy grinned at her and leant in, "Care for a dance?"
"Just like the old times?" She whispered back.
"Just like the old times." He confirmed and smiled when he pulled her onto the dancefloor. He was correct when he said that the floating candles really finished the whole ball atmosphere. Down by the seats, people were talking and laughing. The live orchestra was played by magic as they were bewitched.
He put a hand on her waist and slowly pulled her closer as he held up their intertwined hand, her hand on his shoulder squeezed the muscle as they were face to face now. He smiled at her and together they took a step and started to waltz around, like they did by the fountain.
They swayed gracefully across the dancefloor, as they fell into a synchronized rhythm, their bodies moving as if they had never stopped dancing ever since they did by the fountain. The waltz music filled the air and the captivating melody enhanced the atmosphere around them. He felt a spark of electricity with each step they took as the tension in the air around them intensified.
Green and dark blue eyes were locked in a heated gaze as their chemistry exploded between them, the warmth of his hand on her waist sent shivers down her spine, and the tension in his muscles under her hand as she held closer to him.
Time quickly passed as they found themselves close to one another, bodies pressed together. The Delacour's heart was racing as she thought of the dance as an exchange of unspoken desires and hidden passion. She could see that Percy was thinking the same thing as his eyes showed a storm inside of them.
The flickering candlelight was the only light on them, when the dance reached its climax, Fleur and Percy were in a close embrace, bodies pressed together and their breath mingling. They knew that they were treading dangerous territory as the tension thickened between them.
He smiled at her and his eyes flickered down to her lips as they were a mere inches apart. The temptation was enough for Percy to act on his feelings as he leant down and kissed her. The reaction was immediate as she pulled him closer by putting a hand on the back of his head.
When they pulled away, a blushing Perseus cleared his throat. His attention was taken away when the orchestra started to play again, as if she could read his mind, they once again fell into step as they were lost in the melody of the waltz.
