Soft rays of burnt orange and pinks floated against her eyelids as Ellawyn stirred the following morning. Eyes remaining closed, she began to come to her senses. Her knees were pulled to her chest under a thin, yet extremely soft blanket. She leaned heavily against something on her left, her cheek pressed against firm, soft velvet. Opening her eyes she remembered the events of the day before. However before her mind could become troubled once more with the revelation, soft dark hair tickling her jaw reminded her that she still lay tucked against one of her brothers. Very slowly so as not to disturb the ellon that held her, she tilted her chin to look at him. His head was thrown back in a rather uncomfortable looking way against the top of the chaise, eyes glazed and lips slightly parted. He slouched greatly into the seat, his legs spread apart with his boots still planted on the floor in front of them. The weight of an arm still lay around her back, his hand laying limply in her lap. She could not deny that it was quite a funny sight and she bit her lip, denying a giggle from escaping her lips. She felt her heart swell at the fact that he had undoubtedly slept poorly in order to remain a comfortable place for her to rest. Deciding that she was not ready to be rid of the comfort he was providing her, she pulled her eyes from the twin's face, snuggling closer to him and closing her eyes once more.
Just as Ellawyn felt sleep pulling at her mind once more, she felt the hand in her lap twitch as her pillow stirred above her. Sluggishly raising her head to search his face again, her eyes met his already watching her with a warm smile. He had lifted his head from the back of the seat and was staring fondly down at her.
"Good morning," she whispered, returning his smile before beginning to rise so as to allow him movement. Quicker than she, his arm tightened around her and gently lowered her head once more to his chest.
"No." It was a quiet, content whisper that was met with Ellawyn's delighted giggle. He heaved a great sigh before he said peacefully, "good morning, sister." Giving into his entrapment of her, she craned her head back to look at him a third time in an attempt to decipher which brother of hers she was with. Deciding it was hopeless, seeing as they truly were so alike in every way and she had not been bothered to pay attention the night before, she asked him.
"Which one are you?" For the smallest of moments her brother looked at her in confusion before a massive grin broke out on his face and his head tipped back. She felt his chuckle before she heard it as it rumbled up though his chest, causing her grin to grow twice in size as well. Narrowing her eyes at him she focused on the time she had spent with Elrohir. She still did not know his brother terribly well, as they had only spoken upon her arrival and when they had trained the day before. Even then though, she had been sparring with, therefore facing, Elrohir most of the time. Figuring that without the other one here to compare him with, she simply would not be able to work out which twin held her. She threw out a guess after he did not offer her an answer immediately after his laughter had subsided.
"Very well it matters not, I know you are Elrohir." She said over confidently, pulling another roar of laughter from the ellon beside her.
"You certainly have our brother's hubris," he said between chuckles."Nay, I am not Elrohir." She sighed in defeat though her grin never faltered.
"Elladan."
"Indeed," he confirmed.
Stretching his free hand above his head to run it through his hair, Elladan's face grew slightly more serious.
"What do you say we rouse our brother? I believe we have much to catch up on today." She nodded, straightening her spine and leaning onto her back against the cushions. No longer pinned, Elladan stood, stretching tall. He groaned through a chuckle, seemingly a bit sore from their night on the balcony, before meeting her eyes again. "How much do you weigh!?" Despite the mocking gleam in his grey eyes and mischievous smirk, Ellawyn's mouth fell open at his accusation. Following him to her feet a placing a jestful, yet firm, smack on his shoulder.
"How dare you! If I recall correctly you were the one holding me prisoner!" Tilting his chin upwards and turning his back to her to walk inside the chambers, he simply responded, "I do not recall."
They had gotten Elrohir out of his bed with minimal complaints from the younger twin before they had separated to change into fresh clothing for the day. Once again clad in the tunic and leggings that had been provided for her, Ellawyn combed her fingers through her hair, leaving it loose to sway by her waist. As she opened the door to find the twins to break their fast together, she was met with the very two she sought. Elladan and Elrohir stood in her hallway, one of them leaned against the wall across from her while the other had his fist raised as if he had just been about to knock. Studying them, her eyes flicked between the two identical faces. Before she had parted from them to wash up in her own chambers, she had studied their faces individually, hoping to find any difference. Eyes landing on the face of the one who stood across from the door, she evaluated his brow. Yes, this was Elladan. She had noticed the tiniest of lines cutting through the arch of his eyebrow at an angle, nearly unnoticeable. A scar, she assumed, or perhaps a strange birthmark. Making eye contact with him, she casually nodded.
"Hello Elladan," turning to the other twin to her right, "Elrohir." She hid the pride she felt blossoming in her chest at his confirmation that she had indeed been correct. She watched in amusement as he stepped in front of his twin, standing nearly nose to nose and studied his mirror image. He nodded, apparently satisfied with what he found in his brother's face as Elladan simply regarded him warily.
"Just as ugly as always. I was beginning to worry when she could not tell us apart." Elrohir moved away from his brother, picking an invisible piece of lint from his tunic before pulling on it to straighten it. Ellawyn bursted out in barely-controlled laughter at the toxic glare he was ignoring from the eldest. Ever so slowly pulling his glare from Elrohir, who was still fussing over himself, he offered her an arm and a smile. Accepting it, he led the way to the dining hall for their morning meal.
