"That was amazing!"

"I know right?"

"The food was so delicious!"

"Silly Wubble, always thinking about your tummy!"

The pups giggled as they arrived at the lookout, on entering they found a certain police pup sitting with his back towards them

"Hey Chase!" said an eager looking Zuma, but recieved no reply from the other pup

"Chase you missed out on so much, the carnival was pawesome!" Skye said, performing a backflip

"Chase... is something wrong..?" Marshall asked, at this point, worried about his best friend not replying

"Yeah you haven't said a wurd since we came in" Zuma said, losing his initially high spirit

"Chase..?" Rubble said, starting to feela little intimidated

Marshall started walking towards Chase, but he almost immediately wished he hadn't-

"Chase what's wrong?! Why are you crying?!"

The rest of the pups let out a huge gasp, never in their lives had they ever seen their leader cry

"Looks like you finally noticed..."

Chase finally spoke up, still having a staring contest with the floor

"Wh- what do you mean?"

"You finally noticed I never went along with you to the carnival..."

"Well we actually noticed when we got th-"

"SHUT UP SKYE!"

The other pups were taken aback, especially Skye who just stood there with a scared look on her face like she'd just witnessed a murder of some sort...

"Chase, what's wrong!? What's gotten into yo-"

"OH I'LL TELL YOU WHAT'S WRONG! THE FACT THAT ALL OF YOU LEFT ME HERE TO ENJOY YOURSELVES WITHOUT EVEN BOTHERING ABOUT HOW I WAS FEELING!"

Chase yelled, now looking directly at all the other pups, pups whom he called his 'friends'

"Wh- wh- what do you mean?" A scared Rubble managed to squeak

"Oh right..." He laughed emotionlessely "I forgot that you all were too busy playing and having fun THAT YOU WERE OBLIVIOUS TO MY STATE!"

By now, all of them were too scared to say anything to the German shepherd, who was still boiling with anger.

"NONE OF YOU BOTHERED INSISITING ME TO COME! ALL OF YOU JUST LEFT AND I KEPT WISHING THAT ATLEAST ONE OF YOU WOULD TURN AROUND AND TRY TO CONVINCE ME TO COME WITH YOU!"

By now the rest of the pups had huddled together in a corner, shivering, with some of them even looking like they were about to cry.

"I KNOW IT DOESN'T SEEM LIKE A BIG ENOUGH DEAL BUT IT IS TO ME! IT HURT ME SO MUCH THINKING NONE OF YOU CARED ABOUR ME! THAT I DIDN'T MATTER! THAT I PROBABLY SHOULD'VE-"

He stopped to catch his breath, and then paused, realizing what he was saying.

Slowly he started to acknowledge his surroundings as his anger left him. He tried gaining his composure as he stood there, breathing heavily, horrified at everything he had ended up saying. He saw his friends'- or rather, the pups who were his friends' expressions, because he knew that after this, he wouldn't be able to call them his "friends" anymore. He saw the look in their eyes, fear, an emotion he wished so badly he would never had to see in the eyes of the pups that looked up to him.

He let the reality sink in, he had bottled up his feelings so much, they all came out at once, they were no longer under his control anymore as tears started streaming down his face. Again.

Before he could say anything worse, he made a run for it, ignoring the voices of the other pups, he exited the the lookout, got on his pup- mobile and drove away, as far away as he could, without daring to look back, incase he ended up looking at the heart broken expressions of his friends again.

"CHASE!" Marshall screamed as Chase abruptly left the scene.

Realizing that he was too far away now to catch up with, he sunk right there, just outside the lookout, trying to reflect on what just happened.

Chase, he was the strongest and probably the most emotionally stable pup he knew, why then did he suddenly break down on as simple as a matter of not attending a fair..?

Was it really just that though..?

Marshall had sensed something wrong with Chase a while ago, but, assuming that it was just his imagination, he shrugged it off, but just because someone looks and acts tough doesn't mean they really are, then if he already knew that something was wrong with the shepherd, why didn't he at least make an effort to help him? Why didn't he ask him if he was feeling okay? If he was alright?

His eyes started to tear up, the dally had been Chase's best friend ever since they were young, how could he have failed to find out what was troubling his best friend? How could he even call himself that when he just witnessed his brother tear down like a little kid?

By now his tears had turned into rivers as he started bawling and blaming himself for being the worst friend, or rather, the worst brother, out there...

The rest of the pups were still in the lookout, none of them dared saying anything, there was pin drop silence as well as an occasional sniff from one of the pups.

Now it was Skye's turn to have a staring contest with the ground... It was Skye's idea after all, to attend the carnival, how, in her excitement, had she failed to see one of her best friends, emotionally shaken.

Her and Chase didn't have the romantic kind of relationship most people thought they did, in fact, Skye saw herself as the youngest sister of the group, she loved all of them to bits, but now she doubted it...

Chase and Marshall were the first pups who were ever once there for her, if she hadn't found them, she wouldn't be where she was now...

She started to reflect on what Chase had just said... she desperately wanted to tell herself he was wrong about her not caring to insit him to , after all, she considered that, but she disnt want to force him, and for some reason, deep down, she felt he was right... how could she have not seen the signs?

Loss of interest in things he earlier enjoyed; he loved playing with the other pups, the real reason they had even come up with the whole idea of making him happy...

Confined to a certain place; In this case his pup house, unless called for a mission otherwise...

Insomnia; she was pretty sure she had often heard him turning around in his pup house, or going to the lookout for a late night drink, not to mention the occasional bags under his eyes in the morning...

and it all happened right under her nose, now it was her turn to cry, cry about being the worst friend and the worst sister to a pup who cared so much about her...

There he was, driving away to pup-knows-where, he couldn't stay there after what he had just said to his friends... and on top of that, he knew what he said could never be forgiven...

And in the distance, away from everyone's view, was something that had just witnessed all this. It retreated back into the darkness as Chase drove away, a smirk making it's way on to its face.

A/N: Awe man, I almost feel bad for Chase... almost

Anyways, yes I know, it's a bit surprising to see me publish two chapters at once, also wow, 3 chapters in a month!? Dang, its a miracle, but thing is, when I started plotting this fanfic, this was initially going to be the last chapter, I don't know why but for some reason, THIS was the first chapter I had written for the fanfic. The reason it's not the last chapter now is because I realized that the ending was too long to be one chapter and that the story wouldn't have made any sense had I ended it the way I had thought. So don't worry, there's still a few more chapters left!

Rest assured, I will try my best to complete this fanfic sooner or later, though I must warn you, don't get your hopes up too high for an immediate update. I've uploaded 3 chapters this month, so you might have to wait a while for the next update.

Also, a huge thanks to everyone who has come so far on this journey with me, I appreciate each and every one of you and you are the reason I'm still doing this.

Also, thank you to everyone who leave reviews for this story, I make sure to read all of your messages and I really appreciate your thoughts about the story.

Anyways, that's it, until next time

Lydian out!
