Lex sits in the court room. The trial has come to an end. The judge prepares to read the verdict.
"Alexander Joseph Luthor. Do you have anything left to say before I read this verdict?" She asks.
Lex stands up from his seat.
"Superman made me do it. What you don't understand, what none of you understand is that we are at a paradigm shift. For the rest of human history, there will only ever be before Superman and after Superman." Lex says.
"Lex Luthor, the jury of this court finds you guilty on all charges. You will be sentenced to thirty-one consecutive life sentences." The judge declares as she slams down her hammer.
Lex gets cuffed and is taken out of the court room. Lex's running mate, Eddie Lightner, also gets sentenced to prison time.
"But, but I had nothing to do with this. I didn't know about Lex's plans." Eddie pleads as they take him away.
Superman watches on outside the building as Lex is marched away with Kara by his side. Lex is shackled with armed guards taking him away. He is loaded into a prison transport vehicle. Lex doesn't put up much of a fight.
"Good riddance." Kara says.
"Justice was finally served to him." Superman says.
"So what happens now?" Kara asks.
"Actually I've been thinking about that, Come with me." Superman says as he flies off.
Kara follows him. Superman and Kara fly to the island of Themescarya. They hover above the island.
"What are we doing here?" Kara asks.
"Superman, hello." Wonder Woman says as she comes up to greet them.
"Diana." Superman says.
Kara looks away, a little shy about her fight with Wonder Woman when she was under Lex's control.
"Please, do not turn away from me." Wonder Woman says to Kara.
"I- I'm sorry." Kara says.
"It was Lex, not you." Wonder Woman says.
"What are we doing here?" Kara asks.
"You have a lot of strength, a lot of power. The amazons can help train you." Superman says.
"And they'll just welcome me?" Kara asks.
"I would be honored to have you join my sisterhood." Wonder Woman says.
"Well, I um, thank you." Kara says.
"Excellent!" Wonder Woman exclaims.
"Come with me." Wonder Woman says.
"Aren't you coming?" Kara asks as she looks over at Superman.
"I'm not exactly welcome on the island." Superman says.
"Give me a minute." Kara says to Wonder Woman.
"I'll see you when the Justice League meets later." Wonder Woman says to Superman.
Wonder Woman flies down to the island as Superman and Kara float there for a moment.
"You okay?" Superman asks.
"It's just been a lot to process. Losing my world. Waking up on this one. Being Lex's puppet and now this." Kara says.
"You said your full name is Kara Zor-El, Zor-El was your father?" Superman asks.
Kara nods.
"My father was Jor-El, my Kryptonian name is Kal-El." Superman says.
"Kal-El?! Then, you really are my cousin?" Kara asks.
"I am. All these years I thought I was alone. I ran in to one or two Kryptonians over the years, but to know I have actual family, it means so much." Superman says.
"It means a lot to me too." Kara says.
The two hug.
"Don't be sad, we can meet up whenever you want. It's a perk of being able to fly at super speed." Superman says.
"Every week." Kara says, tears of joy in her eyes.
"You bet." Superman says.
Kara flies down to the island as Superman flies off.
Superman has many people he needs to meet with. His next stop was Chicago. He went to J'onn's apartment.
"J'onn, hello, how are you feeling?" Superman asks.
"I am better. M'gaan's powers impressed me. She was able to reconstruct my mind. And the two of us shared some memories of our home world as well." J'onn says.
"That's great!" Superman says.
"Have you come for Conner?" J'onn asks.
"Where is he?" Superman asks.
J'onn takes Superman to his living room. Conner just sits there, mopping on the couch.
"Superboy." Superman says.
"No need to call me that." Conner says.
"He really did it then?" Superman asks
Conner nods.
"How?" Superman asks.
Conner slides out a metal briefcase from under the couch.
"With this. Inside is a crown Lex crafted made of gold kryptonite. It stripped me of my powers. Don't worry, its lead lined." Conner says as he hands the case to Superman.
Superman couldn't believe what he was holding. All the years as a kid he wanted to wish away his powers and here was a way to do it. But things had changed since his teenage days. Now he knew how important his powers were, and how he had to use them.
"I saw you took down Lex. Good job, sorry I couldn't help." Conner says.
"Actually I know a place you could be very helpful." Superman says.
Superman changes into his civilian clothes and the two go for a drive. Clark figured this would give them a chance to talk, get to know each other. Conner had no idea where they were going as things out the window continued to get more rural. In the eight-hour drive, the two discuss everything. Clark's childhood, discovering his powers, how he learned to control them, even their shared disdain for Lex. Eventually they pull up to a farm house.
"Where are we?" Conner asks.
"Home." Clark says.
The door opens up and Martha comes running out. She gives Clark a great big bear hug.
"My boy has returned." She exclaims.
"I've missed you Ma." Clark says.
"Don't go running off like that again." Martha says.
"I'll try not to." Clark says.
"And who is this?" Martha asks.
"Ma, this is Conner." Clark says.
Martha takes a look at him.
"You are the spitting image of Clark at your age." Martha says.
"I'm two." Conner says.
"I thought this might be a good place for you to settle down." Clark says.
"You want me to work on a farm?" Conner asks.
"Ma needs help. There's too much to do around here, and her other help has been dwindling." Clark says.
"Or my help goes flying off into space." Martha says.
"Ma." Clark whines.
Conner looks out at the fields. He looks at the barn and the tractor equipment.
"This is great!" Conner exclaims.
He feels something here that he has never felt before. A sense of belonging.
"Now come inside, I just baked a pie." Martha says.
"You'll love Ma's home baked apple pies, best in the whole world, trust me I know." Clark says.
Mary Marvel walks through the streets of Philadelphia. She was upset, crying. Billy and Freddy were mad at her, at the fact she killed Dr. Sivana. She didn't mean to, but she did it to protect them. She bumps into an old lady on the street.
"Oop, I'm sorry." Mary says, still crying.
"It's just that I got in a huge fight with my brothers, and and-
The woman stops her, and hugs her.
"There there my child, Granny's got you." The woman says.
Superman's next stop was meeting up with Livewire. She had been sent back to her prison block on Striker's Island.
"So I help you out and just end up back in here." Livewire says.
"I have something." Superman says, as he takes out a syringe.
"What is that?" Livewire asks.
"I've been going through Lex's files, turns out that not only did he setup the accident that turned you into this, but he created a cure years ago." Superman says.
"And you would give me this cure, even after everything I've done to you over the years?" Livewire asks.
"I believe in second chances Miss Willis." Superman says.
Livewire holds out her arm. Superman injects her with the antidote. She grunts as it makes its way through her system. Then, her pale blue skin begins to change back. Her spiky blue hair falls and returns to its natural look. Livewire was Leslie Willis once more.
"I- I can't believe it." Leslie says.
"I've arranged for your release as well." Superman says.
"You what?" Leslie exclaims.
"You will be free to live your life, Leslie." Superman says.
Leslie approaches Superman and hugs him.
After that, Superman goes to Lex's space station. He is joined here by other members of the League: Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, and The Flash, Batman was healing, but declined to join.
"I'm going to miss Mount Justice." The Flash says.
"Were we really calling it that?" Aquaman asks.
"I was." The Flash says.
"The way I see it, Lex owes us a base of operation." Superman says.
"So we're going to take his space station? Are we sure there are no traps?" Wonder Woman asks.
"I have Brainiac scanning through all the systems. If there is anything to worry about, he'll find it." Superman says.
Martian Manhunter looks out the window, in the direction of Mars. He sees something else out there. A glowing light.
"What is that?" Martian Manhunter calls out.
The team comes over to look. They see not one, but two glowing green lights.
"John!" Wonder Woman says.
It was the Green Lantern, John Stewart, along with another Green Lantern as well. Superman flies out to greet them and welcomes them into the hangar.
"John, it's great to see you." The Flash says.
"Thanks, Sinestro almost had me. If it wasn't for him." John says as he points to another man in a Green Lantern suit. This one was a white man with short brown hair. He wore a green mask on his face.
"And who might this be?" The Aquaman asks.
"Green Lantern Hal Jordan of Earth. When Sinestro betrayed the Lantern Corps, I was directed to his sector. Leaving Earth's sector vulnerable. The guardians decided that Earth needed a second Green Lantern, ala John." Hal explains.
"I have other business to tend to here as well." Hal continues.
"What kind of business?" Superman asks.
"The ones you call the Titans. Their friend Starfire has been imprisoned as her sister Blackfire attempts a world takeover." Hal says.
"It never ends with this world takeover stuff, does it?" Superman asks.
"It would seem not; I need them to come with me to Tameran. It's in my jurisdiction." Hal says.
"We'll get the message to them." John says.
The Justice League looks on at the world they vow to protect.
The prison truck drives up to a new super max prison in Louisiana; Bell Reve. It had just been constructed to deal with the escalating number of super criminals. It was said to be impenetrable. Mr. Miracle had even helped design it to make sure that escape was impossible. Lex Luthor was to be the first inmate sentenced here.
Lex was taken off the truck and lead to the warden, Amanda Waller.
"Luthor." Waller says.
"You're the prison warden, ha and they say I'm corrupt." Lex says.
"Take him away." Waller says.
Lex is taken to his cell.
"Luthor, you have a visitor." The guard says.
Lex turns around and sees Superman standing there.
"Come here to gloat?" Lex asks.
"You have time now. All the things you said you would do to benefit humanity, why don't you prove it?" Superman says.
Lex says nothing. Superman turns and begins to walk away.
"I promise you two things Superman." Lex says.
Superman stops and turns back around. The two men look each other straight in the eye.
"I'm going to save the world, and I'm going to kill you." Lex says.
Superman walks off. As he leaves a prison guard brings Lex his laundry. Lex looks at the guard. It's his former head of security from LexCorp, Otis Burg. Otis nods at Lex. Lex takes the laundry and feels something in the orange shirt pocket. It was a small jewelry box. Lex opens it up and sees his kryptonite ring. He clutches it in his hand.
Brainiac continues his scan of the Justice League's new watchtower. His search sends out waves on an intergalactic level. Far away in another galaxy, those waves are picked up. A ship that looks like a skull with tentacles protruding from the bottom floats there. On a screen inside has three dots on it. The same three dots Brainiac displays.
"Found you." The robotic voice of Brainiac says from inside the ship.
Clark had one more stop to make. He heads to Lois's apartment. Lois was crying, looking at pictures of her father.
"Lois, I-
"Clark, its just, we fought a lot, but I loved him. He made me as strong as I am." Lois says.
"And you in turn gave me strength." Clark says.
"But you, you're the strongest person in the world." Lois says.
"Only because of you. I can't tell you how many times I was out in space and my energy was drained. And the only thing that kept me going was you. The thought of getting to see you just one more time." Clark says.
"Oh Clark." Lois says as she rushes forward and the two hug.
"Plus, I still have this very sexy parka for you." Clark says.
"Clark." Lois says.
"Put it on." Clark says.
Lois had been unsure of what the story behind this parka was for two years. But now was when she was going to find out. Clark lifts her up and flies above the city. Lois looks down. She covers her eyes for a second. She was never going to get used to flying with Superman. The two head north.
"Where are we going?" Lois asks.
"You'll see." Clark says.
Superman takes Lois to his fortress. This was the first time she has ever been here.
"This, is where you live?" Lois says in awe.
"Well um kind of, I have another place in the country." Clark says.
Lois looks around at some of the trophy's Superman has on display from his battles over the years.
"It's beautiful." Lois says.
Lois walks to the entrance and looks out. The sun was setting creating a beautiful array of orange and yellow mixed in with the blue night sky. Lois turns around and gasps. She sees Clark down on one knee holding a ring.
"Lois will you-
"Yes!" Lois blurts out.
Clark smiles, he rises to his feet and hands her the ring. The diamond dances in the light.
"I've never seen anything like it." Lois says.
I found it on New Krypton. It's called quarillium. There's nothing like it on Earth. I used my heat vision to shape it." Clark explains.
"That might be the strangest sentence I've ever heard but this is absolutely beautiful." Lois says.
As the sun sets in the background, the two embrace with a kiss.
