A/N: Thank you for your continued support. It means a lot. Sorry I didn't update last night. I have my nieces over, so I was entertaining them. I'm able to update now. This chapter is Sonny/Jason centric, and they discuss Sam/Elizabeth. Enjoy.
Title: Rewrite the Stars
Chapter 14
(Sonny and Jason have a meeting at his office. While Sonny is talking, he can tell that Jason's mind is elsewhere. That Jason is in his own little world. Sonny waves his hand in front of Jason's face, causing the mob enforcer to blink a few times and look at Sonny in confusion)
Jason: "Huh?"
Sonny: "What's wrong, Jayse?"
Jason: (sighs deeply) "I don't want to drag you into my problems."
Sonny: "Don't you get it? You've always been like a brother to me."
(Sonny touches Jason's shoulder and nods)
Sonny: "Talk to me."
Jason: (sighs) "It's about me and Sam. We broke up the other night." (moves his head in a circle) "Well, I broke up with her. It wasn't working out. Sam blames Delores, her parole officer and, of course, Elizabeth. I wish that Sam would admit fault, but she refuses to."
Sonny: "Okay, I'm going to ask you a question. I want you to answer it honestly. Do you love Sam anymore?"
(Jason stares at Sonny before looking down and turns away, sliding his hands through his spiked hair, and then faces Sonny)
Jason: "No. I stopped loving Sam a long time ago."
Sonny: (nods) "Okay. Another question for you. Same thing. Answer honestly. Does Elizabeth have anything to do with it?"
Jason: "I fell in love with Elizabeth long before I fell in love with Sam. But, things never worked out with Elizabeth because of the business."
(Sonny raises his eyebrows and speaks in a serious tone)
Sonny: "That's a crock of shit and you know it. Elizabeth always made it clear that she could handle the business and the guards just fine. It was YOU who decided it was too dangerous."
(Jason nodded in reply and whispered that he knew that)
Jason: "Despite all the years with Sam, all these years in the business, I never stopped loving Elizabeth. I was sometimes pissed at her for whatever reason or with Sam or whatever reason. But, Elizabeth was always in my heart."
Sonny: (shrugs) "Then I don't get it, Jayse. Why were you with Sam if you loved Elizabeth?"
(Jason looks to the ceiling and sighs deeply as he tried to answer as honestly as he could. He faces his friend)
Jason: "I truly thought that I loved Sam all these years, but I was wrong. Sam could handle the danger, so I told myself that she was the one. When in reality, she wasn't."
(Sonny folds his arms over his chest as he spoke)
Sonny: "Yeah, truth be told, I could tell that Sam wasn't the one because you two had fights about stupid things. Sam also couldn't deal with the fact that Jake was your son with Elizabeth even though you have a son with Sam, too."
(Jason nods in response. Sonny sits on the edge of his desk as he continued)
Sonny: "You may not agree with me, but I think you should tell Elizabeth the truth."
(Jason quickly shakes his head at his boss as well as friend)
Jason: "No. Absolutely not. Because she's married to Franco. No matter how I feel about Franco, I WON'T break up Elizabeth's marriage to tell her how I truly feel…that my heart has always belonged to her."
(Sonny gets off the edge of his desk and goes to his friend and pats him on the shoulder)
Sonny: "You are in a bad spot, my friend."
Jason: (shakes his head) "Franco doesn't deserve Elizabeth. However, it's not my call."
