OC Dimensional Journeys: World of Pokémon Chapter 6: The Bugs, Beedrills and Samurai
Disclaimer: I do not own anything besides my OC and my ideas as Pokémon is owned by Nintendo & Game Freak and I do not want to be sued for copyright over this.
FYI: Decided to do the next chapter for this one because the 25th Anniversary of Pokémon started on the 27th of February just this year, so depending on when this chapter is done I wish you all a belated Happy Pokémon Day; sorry for the super lateness of the chapter.
P.S.: I know I said I would do more chapters right after the last one but Covid and the like have kind of killed a lot of my enthusiasm and ideas for writing for the last year or so and Pokemon Day having passed us by helped a bit in making me write up this chapter.

Last Time
I look at Team Rocket as their vision appears to be clear enough to look at me and then Blissey, who is just about to start her attack, but back to me as I mockingly say to them with fervour.
"Pleasant Dreams Team Rocket, when you wake up next it'll be in a jail cell and I hope you'll stay there for the rest of your days; night-night.
I finish with a gleam of sadism and malice shining in my eyes towards them as they just begin to realise what is going on.
But it is too late for them to react as Blissey is already singing her attack as they each begin to drop off and go to sleep one by one.
As soon as they are unconscious I turn to Nurse Joy and say with a casual air.
"So how about we call Officer Jenny now and we can all return everything to normal with you and Blissey seeing to your patients once this is all over and us having our Pokémon treated once the main power is back on of course."
Now, Viridian Forest - David's POV
It's been a couple of days since we left Viridian City after the debacle with Team Rocket, of whom the dumbasses known as Jessie, James and Meowth were soon arrested by Officer Jenny and to my hope would be no longer a problem for Ash, myself and Misty.
Misty had decided to join us on our journey as well to which I had no objection; Ash was a little reluctant at first until I persuaded him by saying it would be safer with more numbers travelling together if one of us were in trouble.
Once that was cleared up we headed into Viridian Forest proper with me sticking close to Misty as I knew she would freak out about the Bug Type Pokémon, Eevee was also up and about since he was given a clean bill of health; he was leisurely walking beside me just enjoying the.
My Gyarados was given a similar approval by Nurse Joy. The large aquatic monster was somewhat amicable with me when I released it from its Great Ball in a nearby small lake just outside the city and it was big enough for me to talk with the Pokémon better.
It turns out he was originally from the ocean as I suspected, having been pulled by a rather strong and unusual current that dragged him down to the rivers from the ocean where he was resting from trying to fight them to get back to his original home, which was right when he was snagged and caught by Misty; which of course lead to the whole encounter with a pissed off Pokémon fighting back.
That was probably why it was easier to fight him and win since he was already half tired when Ash, Misty and I encountered him with our Pokémon.
The Gyarados did allow me to scan him with my Poké Dex which of course read to my surprise and joy yet with a little bit of nervousness at the info:
Gyarados, The Atrocious Pokémon
Although it obeys its instinctive drive to destroy everything within its reach, it will respond to orders from a Trainer it truly trusts.
As I did with Eevee's info I clicked the (+) button for more info that soon gave it out which read out as:
This Gyarados is Male (As identified by the colour of its barbels on the side of its face and jaws).
This Gyarados has the Ability known as Moxie, A Rare Ability that allows the Pokémon to raise its attack stats by one when it defeats or knocks out an opponent
Current Nature: Serious
Its Current Move List is:
Waterfall
Crunch
Twister
Hyper Beam
Hydro Pump
Dragon Dance
Hurricane
No Egg Moves are shown or documented for this species of Pokémon ever.
Its current height is 21 feet and 4 inches and Weighs exactly 235 kg.
Its current level is 52, a very high level for a Pokémon.
"I guess Pokémon aren't limited to four moves at a time like in the games," I think to myself as I re-examine the data from my Poké Dex (with the sound switched off on it so I don't have to listen to the voice of the machine repeatedly) while walking slowly with Ash, Misty and our Pokémon.
The level the Pokémon was at made sense since Gyarados do usually learn Hyper Beam at about that particular level, though since this world seems to take more from the Anime than the games I assume it could be just the current world's way of looking cool if this were shown on TV.
The problem was with me just starting out and with no badges yet I was worried that I would end up in a Charmeleon/Charizard situation like Ash did later in his journey since I had no proof I was worthy to work and train with such a powerful Pokémon.
The excitement came from the fact that my Gyarados had a hidden ability which would be very useful since a Gyarados by itself was intimidating enough to other weaker Pokémon without its standard ability then which would work to my advantage since it could get very strong with its Moxie Ability working in tandem with that.
The egg move thing was still a minor disappointment since I had hoped that this world would fix that oversite that always plagued the Magikarp/Gyarados line. Still, it was an okay thing to ignore since that would possibly be overkill for him to have one with him being very strong, nearly elite level in power.
"I'll have to make up a strategy and training regime for Gyarados, also need to think of a good nickname for him too; Eevee as well as a matter of fact."
I am brought out of my introspection over my Pokémon by the sound of shrieks from Misty and the awed surprise of Ash.
"Aah, a Bug; Make it go away."
"Awe a Pokémon."
I look and spy the form of a Caterpie, no doubt that Ash will catch it very soon and evolve up to Butterfree of course, but then releases it sometime after to be with its chosen mate.
"I wonder if I could catch that Pink Butterfree so it wouldn't have to leave with Ash's one during the migration." I thought to myself as I knew that Butterfree was a very useful and strong Pokémon when he was used by Ash as a battler.
Anyway, I watch as Ash gets ready as he grabs and unshrinks a Poké Ball from his pocket or belt, I can't see clearly which since I am standing behind him with Misty now latched onto me in fright at the Bug Type Pokémon.
"Caterpie, your mine!" Ash calls out as he throws his Poké Ball at the Pokémon, clonking it on the head as it tilts back a bit from the blow crying out.
Its body is then turned into reddish energy that is then absorbed by the open then closed Poké Ball, the ball then falls to the ground as a tense silence fills the area we all stand in as the ball soon wiggles back and forth a bit with the button of the ball glowing a faint red.
Soon the ball stops wiggling and glowing and then a sound, which I recognise as the sound of a successfully captured Pokémon, echoes from the ball.
Ash soon celebrates with a cheer and excitement as he rushed to pick up his new and first caught Pokémon with both gloved hands, cupping it gently.
"Haha, I did; I caught my very first Pokémon, Caterpie!"
Ash thrusts the ball in the air with excitement as he announces this for the whole first to hear.
Ash seems to dance about in joy and exhilaration as he makes announcements of his desire and drive to become the number one Pokémon Master.
"I've always wondered what that exactly detailed?", I think to myself as I see Ash starting to wind down from his excitement from what seems like a sugar high five-year-old to a grinning loon.
I am startled by Ash shoving the Poké Ball containing Caterpie into my face; nearly stepping on poor Eevee, who jumped back just in time to avoid being flattened.
I can just hear Eevee bark back in annoyance at Ash, which I can translate in my head.
"Eve, eevee eve eve eve, evee!/Hey, Watch what where you step, Idiot!"
I can see Ash is too caught up in his excitement to notice or hear My Pokémon's feelings on the matter of almost being stepped on.
I can also just spy over Ash's shoulder that Pikachu is just watching this with an inquisitive yet disbelieving expression on the electric mouse's face.
I agree with Pikachu over his expression as while it is a momentous occasion for a Pokémon Trainer to catch their first Pokémon, I think Ash should tone it down a bit before he does something even more stupid.
I lightly shove Ash away from me and give him a look of annoyance with a raised eyebrow as I watch the boy stumble back.
Ash looks at me in confusion and then minor irritation as he says to me, "Hey why'd you push me like that?"
I raise my eyebrow further as I ask in slight disbelief, "Really, you're asking why?" "Well let me elaborate for you; most people don't like getting someone shoving something into their face like that and if you did it to the wrong person who is touchy about personal space then you're likely to end up brained in the head with a black eye and broken jaw in for the bargain as well."
This stuns Ash and with a quick look at Misty who has backed off a bit from her former grip on my back, understandable for her since she would likely not want to be near a Poké Ball with a Bug Type anywhere in her vicinity, has a look of respect and approval at my words and effect they've made on Ash.
I further speak to Ash, "Just be careful next time as I know you're happy at catching that Caterpie but don't force that exuberance on others who are either watching or are simply strangers nearby and don't know you also watch where you step as you nearly kicked and flattened my Eevee when you moved like that."
Ash seems to get my words and meaning after a few tense silent moments as his stunned expression turns sheepish as he bows his head a bit as he speaks to Misty and then finally to Eevee.
"I'm sorry about that, and I'm sorry Eevee for almost stepping on you."
I nod in acceptance of his apology while Misty appears to have moved to stand beside me as she says to Ash, "Apology Accepted."
Eevee appears to grudgingly accept it too although he does make a few quick movements as he has climbed my body and settled on my shoulder, possibly to reduce the risk of being stepped on.
I speak up again as I readjust my bag, "Now; we may wanna get a move on before It gets dark so Ash, you can release your Caterpie when we make camp later and Misty will be able to have some distance away from the Bug Type that she is scared of."
I can see Misty's surprised and suspicious expression as she asks me; when we restart walking back down the route that I can guess will lead to Pewter City and my own and Ash's Gym Battle.
"How did you know I hate and am afraid of Bug Types?"
I shrug and answer back easily, "I noticed how you reacted to the Caterpie and I know only one other person who reacts like that when afraid of something; My sister."
Misty appears to blink in befuddlement and a little bit of amazement as she asks me soon after with Ash also looking interested in my words.
"Why, what is she afraid of?"
I answer back after a moment of how to phrase it well enough, "She has a fear of Bug Type Pokémon Too; however, her fear is attributed to specific kinds of Bug Type Pokémon."
"Like what?" Ash asks me with curiosity showing in his voice.
"Her fear is of the more arachnid-styled species of Bug Type Pokémon; like Spinarak, Ariados which is the Pokémon it evolves into, Joltik, Galvantula which that Pokémon evolves into, Dewpider and finally Araquanid which that Pokémon evolves into as well."
I took my Poké Dex out as I spoke and showed the Pokémon I was talking about to Ash, Misty, and a curious Eevee and Pikachu; of whom the mouse-like Pokémon hopped up till he was standing on Ash's shoulder.
Misty's reaction was as expected, a look of surprise and a terror-like fearful state as she froze up at the mere photos of these Bug Types, however, the last two make her unfreeze and have a look of constipated surprise on her face as she asks me with total befuddlement with the undercurrent of fear still traceable in her tone.
"Wait a minute, are those last Two Bug Type's also Water Type Pokémon?"
I can feel a bit of satisfaction at having introduced one of the most sought things to happen to Misty that I have no doubt many Pokémon fans wanted to be shown to the girl, her reaction to a Water and Bug Type Pokémon.
"Yep, and the funny thing is those two aren't the only Water/Bug Types out there as well."
I can just see or just imagine Misty's brain short circuit at this info, before it is kickstarted by Ash's amazed exclamation, "Wow; now that is awesome."
Misty exclaims with a mixture of utter confusion and astonishment, "No it's not!"
I look at Misty with a somewhat stern look as I ask her, "So what would you do if a Water/Bug Type Pokémon wanted to join your team and become a companion on our Journey?" "Would you insult and treat it as if it is nothing or worthless as you hide behind your fear while said Pokémon ends up broken and possibly suicidal at being rejected by the one human who it wishes to grow strong, be loved and raised by?" "What if it was a Pokémon Egg that you owned and it hatched only for it to be one of the 5 known Water/Bug Types, 3 of which can be hatched?
Ash's reaction to my serious question towards Misty appears to catch him off-guard as it does Pikachu and Eevee, who jumped off my shoulder, as they watch from the sidelines now as they all backed up; I noticed this for a split second as Misty's denial made them jump back, startled, at the words from her mouth.
Misty answered with a now unsure and lost expression, "I don't know?"
I sigh and close my eyes and calm down before I open them and say, "Think about it some more will you as I will say to you that just because it's a Bug Type does not mean you can treat it like it can't have emotions like Human's do and be not harmed by words and actions alone; I mean what if Ash's Caterpie ends up liking you more than Ash?"
"That's just a theory Ash so don't get angry at me for making a point," I say to him quickly before he can get an angry word in.
"Let's just go, we've stayed here long enough and it is getting dark soon."
Ash and the other 3 all are quiet for the rest of the walk as it appears that my words have at least affected the Humans of the group, I do feel a small nudge from Eevee who has resettled on my shoulders and is looking at me with a look of respect in his eyes.
"Looks like I just helped Eevee decide if I am even more worthy of being his Trainer," I think as I look on ahead while the back of my mind is making plans and tactical scenarios for any trouble that may face us in this forest.
The Next Day, Viridian Forest - Misty's POV
My mind is still in a whirl of confusion and uncertainty over yesterday's events, walking a little behind the two boys and their Pokémon as we walk down the path towards hopefully Pewter City.
I had never considered the possibility of there being a Pokémon that was both Water and Bug Type; it felt just not possible that a combination of my most hated and feared Type would ever be paired with my most loved and favoured Type.
I shudder a bit at the thought of what some of those Pokémon look like from the pictures I saw on David's Pokédex; the largest looking was that Araquanid and it made me feel fear at possibly coming into contact with it since it possibly dwarfed my size by quite a bit.
Last night was uncomfortable at the noises and sounds of Pokémon calls echoing through the night.
I was still lucky to have my sleeping bag with me, before I left Cerulean, which while small was enough of a barrier between myself and possibly curious Pokémon, like Ash's Caterpie; when zipped up tight.
That bug did try to get close to me before I just ran to my tent and spent the night sleeping; as much as I could.
I still remember the disappointed and cross look that David sent me this morning when I woke up and was ready to go.
I hope I can make it up to them as what he said to me did make sense but my fear was still very real.
Same Time, Viridian Forest - David's POV
I try and enjoy the nice weather as I walk with Ash, Eevee and Pikachu running around and between our legs as they playfully chase one another.
I can remember seeing my Eevee with Pikachu and Caterpie being social and chatting with each other last night before I slept.
I didn't listen in since it appeared to be a private conversation but from what I remember of the anime and various fanfics I read back in my old world, it was mainly about Caterpie's ambition to evolve and eventually become a Butterfree.
I knew he would do it since I want to make the timeline somewhat the same so I have something to go off of, which meant we may be soon encountering Ash's next Pokémon and the first flying type he ever caught.
I was disappointed in Misty but I understood that it would take time for me to help her overcome her fear since I knew that nothing was done about it to help her at all in the Anime.
At least Caterpie kept his distance from Misty and slept with Ash instead last night so we didn't have to wake up to her screaming bloody murder; a small difference which I just attributed to some of the things that could be different in this particular world like Isis warned me.
A sudden warning from Eevee, "Eevee/Duck!" has me quickly ducking my head down just as something flies past where my head was.
I look up at what almost hit me and I see a sight that came about as expected, a Pidgeotto; Ash's next Pokémon if I'm not mistaken.
Ash's reaction is as expected and his actions afterwards are almost the same as in the Anime episode, except this time Ash uses Pikachu first to weaken Pidgeotto and Pikachu listens to Ash this time and doesn't ignore him when asked or ordered to use a move along with not getting snippy with Misty when she offers advice.
So now the Pidgeotto is up against Pikachu, it was a much shorter battle since The Bird Pokémon, while weak against Electric Attacks, did take some quick thinking to land a hit since the Pokémon was agile enough to dodge the first couple of attacks.
But with a single call of "Thunderbolt!" it's all over.
After a throw of Ash's own empty Poké Ball and Pidgeotto is now caught.
I watch the celebration Ash has at catching his second Pokémon ever with a hint of nostalgia behind my calm expression and a touch of humour.
"Good job Ash and nice battling Pikachu," I say to them both as they both come down from their high of winning a battle and Ash now getting another teammate.
"Thanks, David," Ash says back with Pikachu repeating it in pokéspeech that I easily translate with my special power from Isis.
Misty calls out her congratulations as well and with that we all head-on with our journey to the next town/Gym.
It also seems that James and Jessie along with Meowth are either gone for good from bothering Ash or just delayed for a while back in Viridian City cause of my actions in helping to capture them.
It's a shame that the small bounty for their capture was not a lot since I donated half of it to the Pokemon Center to pay for any damages that TR caused the Center; Nurse Joy was very thankful though so it worked out well.
I just have enough money left from the remaining Bounty payment to tide myself over for the next couple of towns if I want to splurge a little like an Evolution Stone if I am lucky in case Eevee wants to evolve later.
Anyway, it's about halfway till I think we can reach Pewter City when Misty freaks out at a Beedrill buzzing close by her; probably going back to its swarm or colony.
"We'll need to be careful around here as Beedrill are territorial for their homes in the Forest, and we don't wanna get attacked by a group of them; if one just passed by us then we must be near a swarm or it is a little deeper in the forest from where we currently are?" I explain in a hushed voice as I signal to Ash, Misty and our Pokemon to slow down and keep quiet.
Ash gives a confused but serious nod while Misty rapidly nods her head with a scared expression. Pikachu and Eevee give a simultaneous nod to show they understand how serious this is.
We all keep the noise to a minimum as we quietly walk forward and try not to make too sudden or loud noises that would attract a swarm of Beedrill to our location.
I have Isis give me momentary updates when she can as we walk along.
It took us about 20-40 minutes to make some distance from where we last were; when we all suddenly tensed up at the sound of some bushes rustling ahead of us.
I take a step next to Misty as I have an idea what this could be but I make sure to signal again for her to keep quiet as I certainly don't want to lead some angry flying bug Pokemon to our location from any screams of Misty's.
It seems my theory was correct but not in the way that I expected at all.
It's a Weedle but not the one I thought would show up for one simple but amazing reason, it's a Shiny Weedle.
I quickly stop Ash from taking out his Poke Dex as I know he hasn't muted it yet, I whisper to him how to mute it so the noise doesn't alert any other Pokemon nearby like the Beedrill that could show up.
Once a sheepish Ash does so his Pokedex gives out its usual spiel of info but in this instance, it notes the unique colouration of the Weedle.
I tell Ash my decision of catching it which we argue about for a few minutes before I say to him that he already caught two Pokemon already and I haven't caught any new ones in a while.
He gives up after that but whispers back that he will catch a better Pokemon next time.
"I have no doubt," I think to myself as I step up to the Weedle to battle and catch it; while being happy that one of my future Pokemon Teammates is a Shiny and incidentally the first kind that I ever got in the games back in my old life.
My approach seems to have caught the Weedle's attention as it faces me from where it was inspecting the ground for something; it raises its body as it balances on the lower half of its body as it seems to be getting ready for what it must realise is a battle.
I snap my fingers and point Eevee to the battle where he will challenge the Shiny Weedle; Eevee does so with a quick hop and runs to face his opponent.
Eevee seems to tense its body as his fur seems to bristle as a form of intimidation.
The Weedle seems to know some signal that the battle is starting as it rears back its head, tenses its lower body and flings itself forward with its large stinger on its head pointed straight for Eevee.
The stinger turns a slight purple tint as Weedle rushed to attack Eevee, I back up a bit to give some room and quickly call out to Eevee, "Evade that Poison Sting Eevee and fight back with Swift."
"Eevee/Right", Eevee calls back as it dashes away quickly from the attack by Weedle; causing the Bug/Poison Type to miss as it fumbles the landing of its attack which makes it a perfect moment for Eevee to call out as it launches the glowing stars of Swift at Weedle as each star hits the Pokemon, making a minor explosion at the end of it all.
The Weedle appears quite scuffed up and has taken a good amount of damage but I want to keep up the pressure, I call out to Eevee again as I say to him.
"Eevee; use Tail Whip then rush in with Tackle," I say Eevee quickly wags its tail in the direction of Weedle which causes blue light to travel down around Weedle who appears to be trying to shake off and move from that potent Swift attack.
I watch as Eevee rushed towards Weedle as white energy builds up behind him as Eevee moves.
With a full body hit from Eevee, my Pokemon managed to not hit the stingers on either end of the Weedle, the Bug/Poison Type is sent stumbling about from the attack and now appears on its last legs so to speak.
I aim my Poke Ball, it being brought out quickly during the battle, as I toss it at the now much weaker Weedle, the ball connects to the body of the Pokemon and with a flash of red light washing over Weedle before it is soon transported inside the red, white and black sphere of the Poke Ball.
I watch as it wiggles back and forth as the Weedle no doubt is struggling to not be captured but it appears to give up as the Poke Ball gives out its signature noise to signify it has captured the Pokemon.
Eevee appears happy as he walks back to me with pride literally oozing from him, while I pick up the Poke Ball quickly and scan about to see if our noise has startled any other Pokemon who could be nearby.
Hearing nothing and seeing no angry Beedrill about I relax and smile widely at my now captured Shiny Weedle, I make a fist pump and call out in a whispered excitement, "Yes!"
I turn to Ash and Misty, Eevee now beside me; panting a bit from his own short battle, as I say to them both.
"I know this is a great moment but we may need to get a move on if we want to get to Pewter City before dark as I bet more dangerous Pokemon will be about in this forest at that time of night."
I see Misty and Ash appear to mentally struggle over what I say before sighing as we set back on the trail towards Pewter City, I pick up Eevee of whom snuggles into my chest as he rests for a while.
It is about an hour later that we appear to be reaching a clearing of some kind as the trees shade our approach making the clearing ahead much brighter to our eyes.
When we reach it and enter said clearing I see someone at the other end of the clearing that makes me both inwardly curse and nostalgically cheer.
It is the one known as Samurai, who I remember from the Original Series, who notices us and calls out to us.
"Greetings fellow trainers, might you three be Trainers from the town of Pallet?"
That's it for this chapter, I would have added more but I felt that this was a good enough attempt at getting back into the swing of writing my fanfics again.
I will say that I am considering starting a few new fics that will help get my creativity back into the flow, as this fic and a couple of others just aren't coming out right each time I try and write them; Which seriously doesn't help my Writers Block.
I hope to make more chapters and stories later but I'll do my best to not leave it so long.
