So I just saw the ending to The Boy in the Striped Pajamas and I couldn't take it. So I decided to write an alternate ending this is a one-shot with an epilogue. What would have happened if Ralf made it to the gas chambers?

Sherlock is 16 - living in Italy during World War II - His father is a Nazi soldier, his brother is training to follow in his father's footsteps. Sherlock begins to grow curious of what is through the woods behind his new home after seeing smoke that gave off a horrible scent. When doing his own investigation, he meets John Watson - a boy in a concentration camp.
