Astronauts Virdon and Burke crash on a primordial world that seems to be stuck in the Stone Age. Their plan to return to their ship to send a signal home meets an unexpected difficulty when the tribe that saved them keeps them from leaving their territory - and when they finally manage to escape, they find themselves caught in an even deadlier trap...

Running from the Apes who seek to capture them and take them before the Gorilla leader Urko. Who wants nothing more than to have them all killed. Galen is injured, Virdon and Burke along with Galens one time servant and pet, Noni, find a quiet little farm and seek help for their injured friend. In payment, Virdon and Burke help the farmer to make his farm more profitable.
