Nine AM in the morning.
Crow floated gently, a few inches above the cold floor of his dark and dreary room. The bobbing calmed him and the chant "Azerath Metrion Zinthos" aided in this. It was calm. It was tranquil. It was about to be tragically interrupted.
A loud knock on the door broke the meditative peace like the asteroid into the shallow waters of the prehistoric Caribbean. Slightly muffled by the distortion of passing through the metal door, erupted the yell: "Crow, get the hell up and get some breakfast!". The voice was unmistakable-it was his teammate Gabriella Mark Logan, although her team had taken to simply calling her "Gabby" and her hero name was "Beast Girl".
Crow sighed and unraveled the Indian style position he had been floating in, then placed his feet gently on the ground.
He walked over to his door and opened it slightly. There stood Gabby, only 5'4 compared to Crow's 5'8 and very petit. She stood out, to put it mildly. For starters, she was green, very green. Her skin was lime green, her eyes emerald green, and her hair forest green. Beyond that, her ears were sharp and pointy like an elf's and she had a fang noticeably protruding from her mouth. When the team had been formed she had a much less revealing outfit-a gray mask, shoes and gloves and a black jumpsuit with a magenta bar down the middle. She had deliberately chosen to ditch the mask(not that it made much difference, she was green after all),remove the sleeves and remove the leggings of her outfit and create a large midriff on it. While aesthetically, what remained of her current outfit was identical to how it had been on the old one, there was one new, unique addition-a skirt, albeit that was a request from Robin since he didn't want her outfit to be too immodest. And last but certainly not least-she could morph into just about any organism under the sun, as long as she had seen it anyway.
Crow was a very stark contrast in appearance. There was the aforementioned height, and he was very bulky, being chiseled like a Greek god. He wore a blue, hooded cloak and a tight black jumpsuit underneath, plus his purple leather shoes. His skin was gray, his eyes and hair were violet and his forehead had a red gem embedded into it. All this would be quite the sight for someone unfamiliar with his heritage.
"Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?" Asked Crow. "And I'll have you know I ate breakfast at six this morning while you were still a stone slab in that pig sty you call a living space".
Gabby pouted and replied "Fine, how about some brunch then?"
Crow raised his eyebrow. "Brunch? It's only nine, it seems a bit early for that, and you don't eat breakfast and brunch on the same day anyway".
"Well whatever. Just come out of your creepy-ass room okay?"
Crow rolled his eyes and replied:"As you wish, and please refrain from your juvenile excessive swearing for at least one day".
Gabby's eyes lit up and she blurted out "Race ya!" and morphed into a cheetah, eliciting only an annoyed sigh from Crow.
He walked down the hall to the commons room and Beast Girl said to him:"Looks like I win" in a joking, arrogant tone. Crow responded with "I never accepted your 'race'". Beast Girl snickered and replied "That's just what a sore loser would say". Crow elected to ignore her teasing and began preparing his usual herbal tea.
It wasn't long before Robin, Starfire and Cyborg-the remainder of the Titans-entered the commons room. Cyborg just booted up the 360 and started playing some new game about killing aliens(Starfire didn't seem to mind though). Speaking of Starfire, she began to make her usual native "food". Robin just watched Cyborg play his game and was more than a little critical of his performance. Beast Girl loved video games but didn't seem too interested in Cyborg's particular choice of game. She also wouldn't be caught dead eating Starfire's meals, she wasn't even sure if a normal human digestive tract could handle Tamaranian grub, let alone her mutant one. That just left her one option-annoy Crow, again.
Gabby tapped Crow's shoulder, much to his annoyance and asked "watcha readin'?". Crow glared at her and simply replied "Red Mars".
"What's it about?"
Crow groaned and said "It's about a small group of colonists settling Mars".
Gabby chucked and asked "Why are you reading that when we've been to Mars, let alone plenty of other places in space".
Crow sighed:"How about to help me ever so briefly forget you exist?"
"You're just saying that" she replied with a slight giggle.
Crow just continued reading, attempting to ignore Beast Girl's continued irking. After half an hour of in vain attempts to break Crow's constitution, she simply gave up. She morphed into a Beagle and ran off into the city to search for any villain's to foil.
