AUTHOR'S NOTES
The writing of fanfic started in March of 2023. It is currently in the status of making. Updates are to be expected every week or so, unless I get caught up in something, which would be announced to you. While this story follows the canon ending of Star Vs. The Forces of Evil, discrepancies in the lore may appear. It should also be noted that the story may be subject to complete overhaul.
Rated M for disturbing scenes, frequent violence and references to suggestive material. Reader's discretion is advised.
It was an quiet and warm September night in what was remained of Echo Creek. Dusk settled and the breath-taking stars of Mewni and Earth had mostly appeared on the horizon. Along with its nature surrounding it, there wasn't any violance in the rubble. Seemingly the first time in these turbulent, chaotic months.
But someone was wake as day.
A dark-hooded armed figure was running in the woods. He had urgent business to be taken care of, keeping his pace as quick and quiet as possible to avoid getting noticed. But none of that really mattered, for now atleast. Worst case scenario, a creature of the Forest of Certain Death might cross him. It wouldn't be threatening for him, considering the things he had encountered.
As the shadowy figure stepped out of the densely grown wilderness to the abandoned ruins of the streets, his ultimate destination started to reveal itself before his eyes.
There were human houses where he walked, most of them reduced to rubble, burnt out or abandoned as the bombings and evacuations started. Passing the human areas, he got near a clearing where the road just ended abruptly at an abandonded military checkpoint, the crackled asphalt turning into grass. In the middle of the field, there was a wall behind overgrown corn plantations, sealing off a Mewman town worse in shape, but more alive than whatever was left standing outside.
The walls also protected a huge castle, towering well above in the sky. It was none other than the Butterfly Castle, former crown jewel of Mewni and central powerhouse of the kingdom.
The castle had seen better days. Some of its towers had holes on them, the central dome partially destroyed. The once bright colours of the building were beginning to fade into a dim shade of grey. In some parts, vines began overtaking.
But despite the clear damages, it was standing. And housing the claimant rulers of the realm. Unruly, fake, treasonous dissidents unworthy of the Butterfly name and power. Well, atleast someone.
To the vibrant coloured flags already standing, a ragged, makeshift dark flag was added, with a distinct red "S' letter in a white coat of arms patterned by lighning bolts, crossed tiltingly by Mina's infamous Solarian Sword.
On the ground, dozens of armored soldiers stationed at the wall, manning guard posts.Their equipment was strangely diverse, ranging from ordinary swords, bows, spears and armor to stolen off rifles, pistols, riot gear and camouflaged helmets left behind by the retreating National Guard and the decimated Echo Creek police.
All in all, it looked like infiltrating the place would be a suicide mission. That however didn't deter the shadowy person in the slightest.
It's not like he had any choice in that matter.
The world he knew was tearing itself apart. People are suffering because of him. And the worst part is that he didn't even mean any of this.
In fact, he and she fought for etarnal peace between Mewman and Monsterkind. It looked like they were about to achieve that goal, unfortunately resulting tearing them apart, seperately in their home dimensions.
But they just couldn't let go of like this. Their bond, unbeknownst to them, was so strong that it binded their worlds together.
She abruptly crash-landed into his life, changing him for the better. They would go on many adventures and endure many hardships with one another, not knowing that their friendship would inevitably blossom into something much more, even leading to their bond defying any laws of magic and nature, cleaving their dimensions together.
Definitely not for the good though.Turns out, bringing humans to the ancient Monster-Mewman struggle added fuel to the fire. Leading to the rise of Mewman nationalist sentiment, and war. A bitter and cruel war against all odds. Humans getting caught in the crossfire.
To make things even worse, she got captured. In order to be forced into someone she absolutely loathed, serving a system she fought so hard against.
All because of him.
After dwelling on past events while staring aimlessly at the bitter scenery, he let out a small tear, allowing it to slowly run down his right cheek.
He will make things right, the way its supposed to be. With the help of his best friend and soulmate.
Clenching his wrists, he murmured to himself.
"Just hang in there, Star. I'll get you out, no matter what it takes to stop this everlasting curse. I won't let you down."
After he finished, he took a last look at his tools: a sharp longsword, cutting tools and a rope to get inside.
Marco then resumed his journey to put an end to the madness that plagued his home and save the girl his life would never be whole without...
A truly daunting journey with loads of roadblocks, plagued by all universal forces seeking his demise.
