In the vast world of Remnant, many secrets lie hidden in plain sight.

Unaware of it, most humans do not know what hides amongst them or in the far reaches of the world.

Beasts and creatures of fantastical origin walk the planet while preying on humanity. From a Dragon to a Lindworm, a Troll or a Yeti, or even the feared Vampire, these things lurk just beyond a Twilight Veil that wanes in the restless hours of night.

The Humans in power do all they can to keep knowledge of this hidden world from the public, using Monster Hunters to fight against the denizens of night.

Now, in the year 1307 of Remnant, a young girl must learn how to survive and thrive as a new denizen of a hidden world where monsters commit unspeakable acts every passing day.

Will she remain blooming? Or will her stem be cut short?

Welcome to Petals Shorn, A Rose Lost to The Twilight Veil.

Night was creeping upon the cobblestone streets of Vale proper, long shadows twisting and writhing against the tall concrete buildings as the sun bled out its last rays of vibrant light before seemingly dying.

A biting chill wormed its way through the air as the world lost the blissful warmth of the sun. The cries of beady eyed Crows and Ravens sitting atop buildings and trees echoed evilly as moonlight soon washed over everything, bathing the world in an ethereal silver glow

Neon signs sitting in the windows of shops winked out as the owners shut everything down for the night. The lights inside most places down this stretch of Vale cutting out as the world suddenly seemed very empty, save for the random souls that lived solely in these twilight hours.

With small |Pop's!| the street lights hummed into life every ten or so yards, bathing the road below in an orange glow that barely lifted the veil of darkness that hung over everything The trees that stood alongside the roads seemed to take on a more ghastly appearance, their tall and large bodies moaning with the gentle breeze coursing over them.

The sky was a sharp jet black with clouds covering huge swaths of the endless domain, while the shattered moon appeared and disappeared behind the clouds swimming through the sky. Few stars were out this night, with only one or two full constellations visible to the naked eye.

Fog came rolling in onto the lonely streets, blanketing the floor with its eerie presence. Overall, the convergence of night brought the sense of danger, and one many knew well enough to heed. Yet there was one soul traveling across these streets while looking fairly panicked.

It was a young girl who was dressed in a strange attire. She had a tight black corset that was laced with bright red strings, a long black skirt accented with red frills on the hem fell from the corset and covered her lower body.

Black leggings led down to a pair of worn combat boots. Her face was smothered in shadows by the cowl of her cloak, which covered most of her body.

When she moved just enough, you could see some sort of weapon attached to her back through the swaying of her vivid red cloak. Clearly, she could fight if she had a weapon on her, and you tell she was trained to fight by the barely noticeable twitching of her fingers.

She was known as Ruby Rose, a girl who had spent the majority of her short life training to be a Hunter, a person who hunts the Grimm. The Grimm were a major threat to humanity in this world, always battering the defenses of the ten kingdoms.

All of Ruby's family were or are Hunter's, meaning she had started training at a fairly young age for her eventual career. After she had lost her mother, Ruby had delved herself into reading and learning as much as she could before she started her physical training.

She studied quite a bit in that time, easily making her become the top of her class at the civilian elementary school she had gone to. Hunter academies had an age limit on when you could join, usually being around nine years of age. That way, the Childs body can handle the rigorous demands of the training regiment.

Once Ruby had turned seven years old, her father, Taiyang Xiao Long, had unlocked her aura to begin his own regiment for her. There was no law saying that a certified hunter couldn't unlock their kids' aura since they are certified, which means there is a very small chance of mishap during unlocking or training.

Eventually, Ruby had entered Signal Academy in Vale, one of the Hunter academies for younger Hunters. It was the step below going to a graduate school like the famous Beacon Academy. Ruby ended up crafting her weapon there called Crescent Rose, a sniper-scythe hybrid. Her uncle Qrow, a very famous hunter, had taught her how to use her weapon without killing herself.

Scythes are well-known for being very dangerous to use and even trickier to master. Besides her uncle and herself, Ruby could count the people who used Scythe's in combat on one hand. With her current training, Ruby had killed many Grimm, the worst being a fairly small-sized Deathstalker.

The Grimm had nearly caused humanities extinction several times before, and Ruby had lost her own mother to the creatures of darkness. Ruby had been five when her mother had died, so there were fewer remaining memories in her mind of her mother than she would've liked.

One of the ones she could still remember quite clearly was a rather simple one. It had been a chilly winter day with a small amount of snow falling onto the trees outside her home. Ruby and her older half-sister Yang had been playing in the snow outside.

Flashback:

Her father had been sitting on the porch watching them play with a cup of hot coco in his hands, while her mother was inside baking a special treat that she had refused to tell Ruby about.

"Come on, Yang! You haven't hit me once yet!" A young four year old Ruby had giggled quite loudly while dodging a snowball that had been thrown at her.

A smirk had grown on Yang's face before she chucked a snowballed underhanded at Ruby, who giggled and dodged it before getting hit in the side by a second snowball Ruby looked stunned before her face turned into an adorable pout. She was slightly upset that she had failed to notice Yang's simple plan.

Yang had burst into laughter after seeing Ruby's pout, while her father was also chuckling slightly up on the porch. Ruby's little pout only grew more before she launched herself at Yang, sending them both tumbling into the cold and damp snow.

Her older sister had let out a sharp "Oof!" When Ruby collided with her stomach before snorting while rolling over and pushing Ruby into the snow under her.

The younger girl had let out a short squeak when the cold snow coated her body. Yang giggled again before getting up and helping Ruby to her feet. The two girls looked at each for a few seconds before busting out giggling like madmen at their little playfight.

Summer had come outside to see her daughters playing and laughing, a smile on her face before she called out to the two to come inside.

"Ruby! Yang! Come inside if you want some cookies!" Summer had yelled to her two little girls, who immediately came running over like little gremlins.

They rushed inside, pushing past their mother, heading straight to the kitchen where delicious treats awaited them. Rolling her eyes while her husband laughed loudly, Summer went back inside to see her two daughters gobbling down the cookies at a hurried pace.

Flashback end:

It was such a simple memory, yet it meant all of the world to Ruby. Her mother had been the greatest mother ever in her opinion, a baker of cookies and slayer of monsters. She did want to be a hero and slay the Grimm like her mother, but not all of her motivations of becoming a Hunter were as pure.

Ruby had noticed when her mother had been laid to rest that some of her mother's wounds were NOT caused by any known Grimm. The Grimm were known for their savagery and brutality in killing its prey, yet some of the wounds upon her mother's body were far too clean to be done by Grimm.

One of the most important requirements of being a Hunter is knowing first aid and medical knowledge. Since Ruby couldn't train her body to fight until she was eight, she instead honed her mind to know as much as she could understand about what is needed to be a Huntress.

Those clean wounds had been made by something similar to a claw. The way the entry wound was short before it slid deeper into the flesh and then came out indicated a hook or claw shaped weapon.

Besides being somebody who could help everyone she could, Ruby wanted to find out the full story of what had happened to her beloved mother. It had been ten years since her mother, Summer Rose, had died, but Ruby still felt the need to know what had happened and get the closure she wanted.

Tonight, she had traveled into Vale Proper to get some Dust to craft the ammunition for her weapon Crescent Rose, a sniper-scythe hybrid that was extremely deadly in her hands. Her walking pace was brisk and fast, but not enough to have someone without training, noticing she was on edge.

So far, she had found only snippets of information about what had happened. The stuff she had found was...confusing, to say the least. There had been several reports of some pretty grisly murders in the town her mother had last been in.

Ruby had gagged when she had first seen the images of the scene of each crime. There had been little left of the body's after whatever had killed them was finished. Severed limbs, torn chests, slashed throats, skin piercing broken bones, and many other horrible sights had appeared in the photos.

What was more worrying according to the documents Ruby had found was that the bodies had been devoid of all and any blood. Beside the blood on the ground, there hadn't been a single drop of blood left in any of the victims.

Then, the final document Ruby had found in her quest had made her blood boil. The town had requested a Hunter to come and investigate while providing little detail on what had already happened.

Her mother had been the one to respond to the call, and after that last document, Ruby's trail of evidence to the event had run cold. She hoped someday she could pick up the trail again to get the closure she wanted so desperately.

There was an eerie feeling in the air of Vale between the fog and cloudy night sky tonight. It felt like something major might happen in these twilight hours, at least it did to the young girl. She had already gotten the dust she needed to craft her custom-made ammunition at home using her bullet press.

The dust was tucked safely into a pouch that hung on her belt, locked into an air-tight container. It was hard for Ruby to see in the low light of the street, with the only bright lights being the orange street lamps that stood about thirty feet apart.

Her body was drenched in slick sweat from her instincts screaming something was wrong around her, yet she didn't have a clue as to why her mind felt this way. She couldn't sense anyone's aura around her like she was trained to do, which should mean there wasn't a threat she couldn't handle near her.

Yet the feeling never faded, instead only getting stronger with every soft footfall upon the cobblestone paved road. Ruby's fingers kept twitched very quickly, her left hand unconsciously reaching for the weapon stored on her back.

Covered in sweat and her breathing quickening, she pushed her pace to be a bit faster than before. Wind rustled the trees that ran alongside the road, the moaning of the tree's becoming louder and more warped.

Nights like this one were the ones she hated the most. You could always tell that nights like these were the nights that something bad happened. Ruby reached into her skirts pocket and pulled out her scroll, a device used for communication in Remnant.

Biting her lip in nervousness and a slight bit of fear, she pressed the contact labeled "Dad." A ringtone sounded every few seconds before it stopped. It seemed her father either couldn't hear her calling or was doing something that demanded most of his attention.

That made her even more afraid as she walked down the street so dimly lit. She wanted to have something to comfort herself from this fear flooding her body for some reason, the fear so sharp and clear that was cutting her like a knife.

The moon was uncovered from the dark clouds for a brief second that sent moonlight onto Ruby's hidden face, shining upon eyes of the same color as the shattered moon sitting high above in the heavens.

Ruby jerked as the cry of a Raven atop the nearby streetlight blasted into the chilly silent night air. Swearing slightly under her breath, Ruby was about to burst into a run to get over to the airstrip and head to her home on the island of Patch.

Walking past a dark alleyway, Ruby's eyes glanced inside for a split second. Nothing seemed out of place until her nose caught the faint scent of iron. That worried her more than a little bit. The smell of iron was never a good sign in the work of being a Huntress.

The scent of iron meant one thing, blood. Blood meant something or...someone was hurt. Ruby's body tensed as she looked around the area, her honed instincts now shrieking like a Banshee in full alarm at whatever threat it had found.

With a short electric |Pop!|, the street lamp above Ruby went out, bathing her in the darkness of the night. Her entire body was tensed to the point she was hardly breathing, the fear of whatever was out there flooding her body like a twisted stream of ichor.

Waiting with a baited breath, Ruby strained her ears to hear whatever was doing this to her. Her heartbeat was hammering like a drum inside her ears, almost drowning out any other noises she was trying to hear.

Blood pumped furiously through her heart, which beat with a nearly uneven tempo, the fear viciously kicking in her fight or flight response. Silver eyes shone with unhealthy amounts of terror, the corners of her eyes wet and moist.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!" Without warning, an extremely loud female scream pierced the chilly night air, making Ruby nearly pass out from shock.

Th...tha...that kind of scream was only made when one was in complete agony and was scared beyond measure. The woman who was screaming was almost certainly dying in some horrible way.

Fear flooded Ruby's being from the fading notes of the wail of agony she just heard, the thing that had her on edge since the sun fell would almost certainly be what caused that woman to scream like that.

Yet, Ruby could not simply ignore such a blatant cry for help. She was training to be a Hunter, someone who must always help those in need if they can. Gulping slightly while trying her best to shove down the terror flooding her body, Ruby latched her left arm onto her right arm as both were shaking violently.

This was no time to back down. Someone out there needed help and fast. Ruby might be the only Hunter level person around this area of the city, so she had to do this! Her left hands nails dug deep into her right arm, the pain helping her to regain some of her shattered focus.

Blood dripped from her arm with the crimson droplets hitting the ground in a quiet splash, then when the droplets had stilled on the ground, the scarlet liquid reflected the shattered moon sitting high in the heavens.

Ruby's teeth gnashed violently together while her whole body trembled, her will clashing against her instincts in a battle to decide what she would do. Letting out a deep hiss of breathed that turned into mist in the foggy night air as her will finally won, Ruby slammed her left foot forward into a puddle of water and slowly started to take off.

At first, it was a fast walk, then it rushed into a brisk jog, then it was a full-on sprint to where she guessed the scream to have originated from. Her semblance was nearly on the edge of activating, vibrant red rose petals flowing off of her cloak and feet.

Coming closer to where she had guessed the scream to have come from, Ruby could now fully smell the heavy scent of iron that hung like a mist in the air. It was getting stronger and stronger with every alleyway she sprinted down, the sheer amount of metallic scent flooding her nose, making her worried that she was not going to make it in time.

Silver eyes shone like headlamps within the shadows of the cowl of her cloak, her breath coming out as mist from how fast she was running and the chill of the night. Sliding as she turned around another alleyway corner, Ruby could faintly hear the sound of heavy pained gargles coming up in the dimly lit abandoned warehouse just in front of her.

Pulling her weapon Crescent Rose off of her back, she heard the inner gears and cranks groan as the weapon shifted into its full scythe form that stood taller than her. Seeing a fast way in, Ruby launched herself through one of the dirty glass windows into the warehouse.

The sound of glass shattering filled the air as Ruby slammed through the window to see the sight before her...

There were some many fucking bodies! There had to at least be around twenty laying in a pile to her immediate left, but her eyes were mainly trained on the two figures on front of her.

A admittedly handsome male figure was hunched over a young voluptuous woman, his long veined teeth sinking straight into her neck while he lapped up the blood that was now barely dribbling out of the wound.

She was already dead. The man lapped the last drop of blood that came from the deceased woman's neck into his mouth, before his piercing blue eyes snapped up to where Ruby stood.

"Well, well, well! I was not expecting such a young girl to try to and play Hero, since I'm guessing you heard this whore's scream before I could shut her up." The man...was it actually a man? Ruby didn't think she had ever seen a man with such a inhuman nature to him.

Her every instincts were now screaming at her to run, run as far away from this thing in front of her. She had thought the fear she had felt before was bad, it was a thousand fucking times worse being near what caused it.

"That weapon you have...a Hunter in training I am guessing, right little human?" The way he said that, it was as if he considered being human as a pitiful thing.

Ruby's mind was racing, trying to figure out what she had gotten herself into with this. She had read a lot of legends growing up as bit of a pastime, and she was growing even more worried with what she thought this man was.

There was a legend of a nearly immortal being, a being with fangs that most people hoped didn't exist, a being that instilled terror even in media. Long veined canine teeth that could rend flesh, tipped pointed ears, and a need to drink blood to survive.

Sweat poured down Ruby's face as she realized what stood before her, an actual fucking vampire! As if he could sense her fear, the man stood up to his full height and grinned at Ruby with his entire mouth covered in vast amounts of blood.

"It seems you have figured out what I am, which is more than can be said for any of them." The Vampire chuckled darkly as he waved his arm towards all of the bodies that filled the warehouse.

"So what will you do now little Hunter? Will you try to fight me and die? Will you try to run away before I catch you? Will you just give up and die? Will you impale yourself on your weapon to not become like them?" The Vampire howled with evil laughter as Ruby raked her eyes over the bodies that littered the warehouse.

Each and every single body had been brutally butchered in some way. One man was missing his eyes and tongue, another woman had her feet hacked off, and...there was even the limbless body of a little girl with a blood soaked teddy bear laying on her crimson coated chest.

Rage, hateful rage and righteous fury burned within Ruby's chest as she looked into the lifeless eyes of the little girl who had died even younger than her. Taken from the world too soon by a monster Ruby had always thought was mere fantasy!

Clenching her teeth together as her grip on Crescent Rose tightened, Ruby embraced the darker feelings she now had burning within her and directed them at their creator.

"How many have you killed?" Ruby's voice was no more than a whisper, yet carried such a frigid fury to it.

"How many steaks have you eaten? I stopped counting less than a year after being turned." The vampire responded with a blood covered toothy grin.

Ruby's silver eyes flashed from under her hood with a maelstrom of emotions within their depths, making the Vampire frown for a few seconds before he grinned maliciously again.

'So some of them are still alive! Now such a young one has been dropped into my lair...I don't typically turn people like this, but this time I'm making an exception.' The vampire thought before bursting at Ruby with a speed she could barely react to.

Ruby leaned as far back as she could do while the Vampires hand passed mere inches over her face, twisting her body, Ruby lashed out with a kick to the Vampires gut. The blow connected and did...nothing at all.

Swearing heavily in her mind, Ruby vaulted backwards into the air after pushing herself up with her right hand. Crescent Rose was held in her left hand as Ruby tried to reorient herself, but was then hit with a dropkick that slammed into her unguarded stomach.

Spit and blood flew from her mouth from the sheer kinetic force of the blow, and she was sent tumbling head over ass into a set of empty wooden crates. Crescent Rose had flown out of her hand when the cannonball of a kick had sent her flying.

Her crimson aura flickered as she internally gauged to have lost twenty percent of her aura in that single blow. This...might have been the decision that would put her in an early grave. If she was going to die, she would go out screaming and covered in blood if she could.

Shaking her head, Ruby's eyes widened when she saw the vampire lunging at her. Tapping into her semblance, Ruby burst into a cloud of rose petals while the vampire passed through her. Reforming above the vampire, Ruby flipped upside down to deliver a reverse axe kick to the vampires skull.

Pain shot up her foot and leg when her kick connected, while the Vampire let out an annoyed hiss. Hitting the vampires skull was like kicking a damn boulder! Ruby used her semblance again when the vampire tried to rip her face off with his fingers becoming long dagger-like claws.

Reappearing near where she had guessed her weapon had landed, Ruby tried to catch her breath while the vampire was shaking his head in irritation.

"Your more annoying than I thought you would be! I'm done playing with my food!" The vampire seemingly disappeared into thin air, making Ruby go instantly on alert.

Loud footsteps came rushing at her in her left side, she swung around to face where she thought the vampire was coming from, only to be sucker-punched in the same spot she had been dropkicked in minutes earlier from her left.

Blood spurted from her mouth in an even greater amount than before, her organs felt like they had nearly ruptured from the two immense blows to her stomach. She was sent flying again and slammed into a metal wall, the impact of her back on the metal nearly knocking her out from the pain.

Her aura had dropped another thirty percent from that blow! If she didn't get to Crescent Rose soon, she was going to die! A fire burned within her silver eyes as she forced herself to her feet, using even more of her aura to use her semblance.

Speeding through the air towards where the now broken wooden crates she had crashed into laid, Ruby saw the familiar glint of her weapons blade. Reappearing next to her beloved weapon, Ruby picked the weapon with her foot and tossed it up into her left hand, clenching her hand around the padded grip.

Once again hearing the sound of invisible footsteps, Ruby pulling on the trigger of her weapon and released a volley of .50 caliber fire Dust shells towards the sound of the footsteps. Smirking when she heard the sound of tearing flesh, Ruby then fell to her knees as a foreign sense of pure panic overwhelmed her mind.

Ruby started hyperventilating and crying as she heard the vampires cruel laughter echo through the warehouse.

"Ahhhh! What a wonderful thing vampire magic can be! Now you can't do anything until I release my hold over your mind." A large now visible bony hand grabbed Ruby's throat and squeezed it until she could barely breath, lifting her into the air with extreme ease.

"Do you even know why I deigned to fight you when I could have finished this as soon as it began? I wanted to see if the strength of a Silver Slayer was as great as I heard..." The vampires voice was right next to Ruby's ear, making the overwhelming panic she had even worse.

"You definitely are not anywhere near as great as the stories I have heard of them, nevertheless, I want to see what can happen if one of your kind is turned..." Ruby's tears flowed even faster as both the foreign panic he had induced in her and her own real panic started to meld together.

'NO! Nonononono! I don't want to be like him!" Ruby screamed in her mind as the male vampire smirked at her horrified tears, before he opened his mouth and sunk his veined canine teeth straight into her neck.

Immense pain shot through Ruby's body as the vampires teeth severed one of the arteries in her neck. She wanted to scream but could barely breath from the hand gripping her throat, and she felt herself growing weaker with every passing second as he drank her blood.

Black dots appeared in the center of her vision, while her heartbeat was slowing down with every soft beat in her chest. The black dots in her vision began to spread outward, engulfing her vision as she continued dying.

She tried to lift her arms to remove the hand crushing her throat in a vice grip, her fingers weakly scratching the vampires arm in futility. Then the numbness in her arms and legs set in with a growing chill, to where she could no longer move her limbs.

Her body felt so very cold, like she had dipped herself in the freezing waters of Atlas or Nordr Vegr. Even the panic from before was beginning to fade as the edges of her mind frayed.

'I...is...this...how...I...die?' Ruby thought in dwindling horror while she felt her mind fading with each word, until her mind disappeared into the void and the light of life in her eyes faded to lifeless glassy orbs.

Ruby Rose was dead. She died fighting a monster few knew existed in her world.

The male vampire smirked as he felt Ruby's lifeless body go limp in his hand, a cruel light shinning in his eyes as he had a malicious idea.

'After I turn her, I will leave her in a populated area. I don't care what happens after that since I have my own things to do and hunt before the sun rises.' He thought before biting down on his wrist, his dark scarlet blood falling out of the wound.

He put his bleeding wrist over Ruby's mouth and let the blood fall down past her lips. The cut on the vampires arm healed soon after he had let a pint of his blood fall into Ruby's mouth. Not too soon after, Ruby's corpse's left index finger twitched, while the sound of flesh tearing and ripping filled the air.

A evil grin adorned the male vampires face as he picked Ruby's body up in his arms. By the time Ruby awoke, she would be in a blood thirst and attack any human in sight, and that would be what would scar her forever.

To be a vampire was to have some sort of evil or darkness inside you, and killing the people she was supposed to protect would plant that darkness inside the silver eyed girl. She may try to come kill him for what he did to her, but he didn't care in the slightest.

Taking off in a inhuman sprint, the vampire raced across the town to a secluded park where some teenage couples hung out after a date. It would be the perfect place for this newly turned Vampire to have her first drink of blood.

Wind whipped around the male vampires body as he jumped from rooftop to rooftop while completely invisible. Intense and violent spasms were rocking Ruby's body as it was transforming itself from the male vampires blood.

The sound of bone snapping came from Ruby's mouth where her canine teeth were shaking and growing, a small blue vein wormed its way across each of the two teeth. Her ears were twitching while they grew to have a tapered tip like an Alf's or what she was becoming with each passing second.

Finally reaching the park, the male vampire set Ruby down against a hedge bush as he became visible for a brief moment. Giving one last demented smile at Ruby, his body then seemed to slowly fade into thin air, the sadistic smirk on his face the last thing to fade against the stone wall that stood behind him.

Ruby's body continued to shake and spasm as it was being changed. Her muscles became much stronger, her senses keener, her skeleton denser, yet her body was completely dead still. There was no heartbeat in her chest, her body was cold to the touch, and no air escaped past her lips.

She was dead, yet she was coming back to life in an unnatural way. A barely audible growl came from Ruby's lips as her completely black eyes fluttered open with a sharp snap, her face set in a hungry look. Her throat burned and felt as dry as the desert, her body craved the forbidden nectar it now needed.

There was no intelligence in her eyes, just a ravenous hunger and a completely instinctual need to drink. This was not Ruby anymore, simply a beast that needed to drink its fill, to sate the hunger gnawing away at its being.

"Do you love me?" A young female voice echoed in the beasts ears with a twin pair of heartbeats sounding in it's now enhanced ears, its head snapping to where it knew the voice was coming from.

The beast could smell the scent of a young male and female sitting at a bench no less than twenty feet to it's left. They could provide it with the blood it needed! Launching to it's feet, it instinctually used it's new predatory nature to plan her route over to them without drawing any attention to it while doing so.

Quiet deliberate footsteps made their way over to where the teen couple sat on the bench kissing with passion. It was so damn thirsty! These people were it's prey! They would die to feed it!

The beast snuck up beside the young female, it could hear the frantic excited beating of the girls heart, the beast smiled before grabbing the male's throat with its hand and biting into the girl's neck with its veined canine teeth.

Blood spurting like a small fountain from the young girl's neck while both her and the boy screamed in shock, pain, and horror. The beast didn't care, though, it simply kept drinking the blood now coming into its mouth from the girl's neck.

The beast's clothes were becoming soaked in the blood of the young girl, not that it cared in the slightest, the girl was prey to drink from after all.

It's throat bobbed up and down as tongue lapped up the metallic liquid with a beastly fervor, the woman weakly tried to get away, but soon died as all of the blood in her body was gone.

"Violet!" The boy roared as his hands tried to break the Beast's grip and kept failing, watching his girlfriend hang limply from the jaws of whatever had attacked them.

He could see the outline of a young girl's image through the blood soaking her face. Her shadow cloaked teeth were stained with the blood of his lover, giving this...thing an incredibly sinister and inhuman appearance.

It dropped his lover's body from its mouth, the blood still on it's fangs falling down and pooling on the ground below it. Panic and overwhelming fear flooded the boy's mind from the horrific events that had happened so suddenly on what had been the best night of his life!

He yelled and screamed while trying to break the thing's grip, only to see its blood covered invisible face coming next to his neck. Pain shot through his body as the thing bit down onto his neck and started draining the blood from his body.

The boy shrieked in pain as the thing's fangs severed an artery in his neck, he could feel his life slipping away faster and faster. The beast kept drinking even as the boy tried his best to fight back, only stopping when the boy finally fell limp in her jaws.

It wasn't thirsty anymore...it could feel its mind coming back slowly.

Ruby came to as she felt...different than she used to. She felt...stronger? Her senses finally came back fully, to where she could taste something metallic and the air smelled strongly of iron. She could feel something dribbling off of her chin, and her clothes were soaked in something warm...

Then all of what happened in the warehouse came crashing down into her mind. Hearing the woman's screams, finding the vampire and trying to fight it, being utterly decimated by the vampire, then she...died.

Looking down at her hands, Ruby's silver eyes went wide and her arms start to shake uncontrollably at what covers her arms in a sheen of vivid paint. Fresh blood dripped from her face and arms as she felt the need to throw up.

'No! No! No! No! NO! Nononono! NOOOO!' Ruby's started to break down as she stared at the two corpse's laying at her feet, people SHE had killed!

She had killed someone! She had killed two innocent people! She had gone against the one rule she had made for herself before starting her training as a Hunter! SHE WAS A MONSTER NOW! JUST LIKE THAT VAMPIRE!

Ruby tried to throw up as her body didn't respond to what she wanted to do! She couldn't feel her heartbeat in her chest, she wasn't even breathing right now!

Falling to her knees as she felt her mind become a storm of emotions; Hate, fear, sorrow, pain, misery, loss, anger, and so many other things swirled through her entire being as she stared at the two lifeless bodies SHE HAD MURDERED HERSELF!

Tears fell like a waterfall from her eyes as Ruby started screaming and sobbing from what she had done. Her mind repeating the words [YOU KILLED THEM YOU MONSTER!] over and over again without any mercy.

Clutching her chest where her heart sat completely still in her chest, Ruby bent over and hugged her knees while sobbing like a scared little girl. She hated this! She hated herself for doing something she had told herself she would never do! She hated that vampire for turning her into a monster like him!

Screaming once again, Ruby slammed her fist into the ground, in which the concrete ground shattered under the power of her physical strength. Looking at her undamaged fist with tear filled eyes, Ruby sobbed even more while clutching her fist to where her non-beating heart was.

She curled up into a ball even as the blood of her victims pooled around her body, making a small halo ring of red around her. She would be like this forever! Having to kill people to survive every single day!

That bubbling hate for herself came rushing back into her mind like a black tide, soaking and bleeding her innocence dry. She hated this...she hated herself...what would her family say?

Would Yang be horrified and try to kill her? Would her father burn her alive with his semblance? Would her Uncle Qrow split her in half with Harbinger? How could they love what she had become and after what she had just did?

Raising her right hand, Ruby yanked down the hood of her cape over her face, smothering her blood soaked face in black shadows. She didn't want anyone to see her face anymore, the face of a monster...

She couldn't even think of using Crescent Rose again too, even if she did get it back from that Warehouse. Crescent Rose was supposed to be in the hands of a Hero, not the in her sullied hands!

The sounds of rushing footsteps and heavy breathing reverberated in Ruby's ears. She lifted her cloaked head to see a woman with blonde hair and green eyes rushing at her with a riding crop in hand.

Fury and anger filled the woman's eyes when she saw the lifeless bodies Ruby had murdered. Lifting her riding crop, Ruby felt an invisible force hit her and sent her flying.

"FUCKING VAMPIRE! ARE YOU PROUD OF KILLING TWO CHILDREN?! CHILDREN WHO HAD THEIR ENTIRE LIFE AHEAD OF THEM?!" The woman roared with the force and heat of a bomb blast, Ruby just curled up into a even tighter ball as she continued crying loudly.

'I know that! I know what I did to them! I know I am a monster now!' Ruby screamed into her mind, she could still taste their metallic blood on her tongue.

"ANSWER ME YOU BASTARD!" The woman yelled as she rushed Ruby and kicked her with an aura coated heel.

Two kicks, three kicks, four kicks to Ruby's body. The woman pulled out a silver knife from her belt and raised it to stab it into Ruby's head. She plunged the knife down only to falter an inch from Ruby's skull, why wasn't the vampire fighting back?

That was when she heard Ruby's muffled crying. The woman stepped back but kept a firm grip on her silver knife, looking at Ruby with confused and apprehensive eyes. Getting a good look at Ruby, the woman finally noticed how young Ruby looked, a teenager at most.

"You...didn't want to do this, did you?" The woman asked with sorrow while Ruby only curled up tighter into a ball while still sobbing.

"You were forced to become a Vampire, weren't you?" Ruby meekly nodded her head at the question, though the woman saw a flash of Ruby's silver eyes, making her breath hitch.

The woman pulled out her scroll and dialed a number while staying about ten feet back from Ruby. Ruby kept sobbing as she felt her heart ache emotionally from how turbulent her mind was.

All she could focus on was the two bodies that laid before her, the hate she felt for herself from killing them. She felt her heart growing colder as the world turned a bit more grey around her, her emotions slowly warping and twisting in so many different ways.

"Understood, sir." The woman said after talking to someone over the scroll, but Ruby had tuned everything out.

Ruby felt arms wrapping around her body, pulling her close to the woman's chest, a hand kept rubbing her head softly like her mother used to do. Ruby pulled herself into the woman's body, trying to seek any comfort she could get at the moment.

The woman looked down at Ruby as the teenage girl latched onto her. This wasn't the first time she had heard of someone becoming a Vampire against their will, and it probably wouldn't be the last before she died...

Most that are turned against their will, find a way to commit suicide since they cannot handle the guilt and sorrow inside themselves. The woman made her way across town by using alleyways and less traveled areas with Ruby in her arms.

By the time the woman had gotten them both to a small park just beyond Beacon gates, Ruby had fallen completely silent in her arms. The little glimpses of Ruby's eyes that she had seen since Ruby had fell quiet made the woman shiver slightly, they seemed a lot more...ominous than before.

Coming to a stop inside the hidden park, the woman stood with Ruby in her arms before a statue of a man wielding a giant two-handed sword. The woman set Ruby onto her feet beside her, she shuddered when she noticed the vibe around Ruby had changed.

Ruby lifted her head and sniffed the air before looking at the statue in front of them, her face still shadowed by the hood of her cloak.

"I know your there..." Ruby spoke with a voice much different than she had before what happened to her, this one being much more cold and sinister in tone.

The sound of something hitting the ground echoed across the plaza, before a silver haired man with yellow eyes came walking around the corner with a black cane tapping the ground in his left hand.

Ruby's breath hitched when she saw the man, her body had started breathing again out of habit, though it did nothing for her other than make others think she was still human.

"I see you know who I am." The man stated as he came walking up to Ruby while tapping his cane on the ground still.

"Ruby Rose...I've come to make you a deal." Ruby froze when she heard her name leave his lips, that was not something she expected to hear at all.

"All three of us know what you are now, a Vampire. In order to survive, you need blood at least a day to keep yourself from going feral. You've already killed two young people, and how many more may follow?" The man asked Ruby while she felt her emotions warp again, this time much more violently than before.

"You don't think I know that?!" Ruby hissed in fury as she clenched her fist until they bled.

"You don't think I don't hate myself for what I am and what I did to them?!" Ruby spat as she lifted her hood just enough to let her silver eyes that shone with barely restrained madness look at him.

"I can still taste their blood on my tongue!" Ruby yelled in anger as she stared the man in the eyes.

"That is why I am giving this deal to you. I know your sister is coming to Beacon this year, and you can come too if you accept this deal." The man stated as Ruby froze again, the words repeating in her head as the man spoke again.

"I am the headmaster Ozpin Veridian, and I can certainly accept anyone I like into my school. In order for you to join, I want you as my personal Monster Hunter. Humans struggle against things like Vampires, and vampires are only one of the most common of the supernatural." Ozpin explained while Ruby's silver eyes flashed again with intense emotions.

"There are...more than just vampires?" Ruby asked through clenched teeth as she thought of how helpless she was against a single vampire.

If there were more than vampires, that meant there were things even stronger than vampires...and not even a top-class Hunter could stand a chance against something like that.

"Far more than most would ever know. Upon each of the ten continents and kingdoms of our planet, things lurk and prey upon humans every day. If you accept, you will be sent on missions to exterminate supernatural threats across the world." Ozpin elucidated while Ruby thought about the bodies she had seen in the warehouse and the corpses of the two people she had already killed.

If she did this, she could prevent people from dying in such gruesome ways or becoming like her.

"What about my need for blood?" Ruby questioned while looking down at her still blood soaked clothes.

"Beacon will provide you with two fresh blood bags per night. You are a vampire, you will turn to ash if you go outside during the day. So you and your team, yes you will have a team, will have classes at Beacon during the night and rest during the day." Ozpin expounded while Ruby thought over the deal he had proposed.

It was an amazing deal truth be told, one that made sure she doesn't kill people like she had again. On missions he gave her, she could drink from people since she shouldn't lose her reason unless she purposely starved herself.

She would also have a team...which could be a good bad thing. It could be very bad if they tried to kill her in fear, which then she would fight back. If she were to die again, she wanted to die in a honorable way like saving someone from another monster. That way she can at least have a chance at redemption.

"I accept." Ruby replied while Ozpin smirked at her acceptance of his deal.

"Good. If you didn't, I would have killed you where you stood. Now, I believe your family is already on their way, but I would recommend keeping your...undeath a secret from them." Ozpin said before walking out of plaza inside the park they were in.

The blonde woman gave Ruby a said smile before walking after Ozpin, while reached her right hand up to her neck where two holes were drilled into her flesh. She gnashed her teeth while clenching her left hand into a fist.

'I am going to kill any monster like me that harms humans! I can't let another person become a monster like me!" Ruby yelled with venom in her mind, her mind already thinking of the carnage that would await her.

Her enhanced hearing picked up the sound of rushing feet heading her way, and her enhanced night vision eyes saw bright gold hair coming from around a nearby hedge.

'I can't let them know, not now or ever...' Ruby said in her head before her sister Yang slammed into her.

They can't know...
