CHAPTER 1: RETURN TO THE PAST

The factory was shaking, falling into pieces. The Lyoko warriors ran to the alternate entrance to the lab, being careful to not get hit by any piece of metal. They were almost there, Aelita and Jeremy were climbing the ladder when something fell from the sky behind them. A giant robot stood between the ones in the ladder and the rest of the group.

- Run! -cried Ulrich while grabbing a stick to try to defend himself.

Jeremy and Aelita didn't hesitate and climbed the rest of the ladder as fast as they could to get to the lab, but the robot took a grip of Aelita's foot.

- Get off me!

A stone hit the robot's eye, distracting it and giving the pink-haired the opportunity to escape. The robot turned to the direction of the stone and saw Odd holding another one in one hand and on the other a round metal piece as a shield.

Odd threw the rock that he had directly at the robot's head, but it easily stopped it with its arm. Nevertheless, it didn't expect the flat piece that was going to strike it in the head and almost knock it down to the floor.

Yumi was prepared to throw another piece, but was surprised by a metallic hand grabbing her arm and lifting her. It was another of XANA's robots. But before it could do anything to the Japanese, it was struck by a giant piece of metal on its head, knocking it temporarily to the ground.

A now 18-year-old William stood bravely, unaware of the danger behind him. Luckily, Ulrich managed to block the other robot:

- What took you so long? -said Ulrich.

- You know, just the usual chaos around the city.

The robot broke Ulrich's stick, so he had no other choice that to recede. Suddenly, the 4 Lyoko warriors view themselves in extreme danger.

In the lab, Jeremy was typing as fast as his fingers could move, filling the screen with dozens of lines of incomprehensible numbers and signs, even for Aelita:

- Jeremy, what are you trying to do? What are you even writing? That looks like… the return to the past program.

- Because it is. I'm launching a return to the past… to a past where XANA was not yet created. That way, you can prevent your father from creating it.

- Jeremy he's dead!

- He won't be! -Jeremy said with terrifying and devilled eyes- At least for some time. Since the supercomputer stops recording the data when someone dies, he'll be alive just until the exact moment that he died in this timeline, and so will the people that XANA has killed.

- Bu-but, but what about you? What about Odd, Ulrich, Yumi? You will be babies; you won't remember everything -said Aelita while sobbing.

- We won't. You'll be the only one old enough to remember everything. Aelita, - Jeremy grabbed her by the shoulders and made her look at him- the world depends on you. Go back to the past, prevent Waldo from creating XANA, thus Thyron will never be able to reprogram him.

- Jeremy, I don't want to lose all of you.

- You won't. I'm sure you'll find us again, you'll see. I trust you. Good luck, Aelita.

Jeremy pressed the intro key on the computer.

- Return to the past.

A white glow emerged from the supercomputer and absorbed everything, expanding rapidly through the factory, the city, the country, the world, even the whole universe.

6 June 1994

A 13-year-old Aelita standed at the lab in the factory, confused and dizzy, grabbing her head as if she just had gone down from a rough flight. Everything was blurry, she just saw the green of the walls, until she caught a stain of white.

Aelita, is that you?

Dad?
