It was a weekend at the Savannah City zoo house, and with time off from their daily jobs, Trunks and Tora were both filling the time. "Oh, I see you've decided to familiarise yourself with the local texts.", Trunks noted as he saw Tora reading a book. "What's caught your fancy?"

"Oh, it's a story about a girl who lives with her step-family, who treat her horribly.", Tora explained excitedly. "But then she learns of a ball where she can woo a prince and change her fortune." She then noticed that Trunks was looking at her with dismay. "What? It was either that, or The Lovely Bones, and Lenny didn't make that seem appealing."

"So you went for a children's story?", Trunks asked, sighing. "Of course you did."

It was then that Marina walked in, also reading a book. "Well if it makes you feel better, then I'm reading a story where a boy and a girl from opposing families meet, fall in love and get married. It's not very realistic, but I'm intrigued."

Trunks facepalmed. "Why does everyone around here seem more interested in stories? Is no-one interested in learning about the real world?"

"Hey, sometimes people like to find escapism in these stories.", Tora said in response. "After all, we can see the real world for ourselves every day. Why do you think we all got jobs elsewhere?"

"Not Lenny though.", Marina pointed out. "He just decided to hang out at the zoo and help out there."

"Speaking of helping out, it's my turn to search for clues as to the disappearance of Johnny's brother.", Trunks stated as he headed for the door. "I'll be at the library, searching for anything to do with that creature."

Onboard the Arrowhead, a creature with a head that resembled the frontal lobes of a brain, with a singular eye for a face, dressed in academic robes with a motorboard that bore a pair of red eyes walked in, where Keldor was waiting to greet him. "Ah, Professor Nozu. A pleasure to make the acquaintance of such an esteemed academic of evil such as yourself."

"I was expecting Miss Ignoblia to greet me upon my arrival.", the Professor said with a deep, but cultured sounding voice. "Or failing that, the esteemed hunter Archris."

"Neither of them are available currently.", Cuborg said as he stepped forward. "Archris is still in stasis, recovering from damage to his body, while Ignoblia is taking care of other business right now. Thus, it falls to us to discuss your plan with."

"Well I did discuss the matter with Miss Ignoblia over the communications network, but I suppose the two of you could be humoured with an explanation.", Nozu decided. "I am the smartest being in 5 galaxies precisely because I drain the knowledge of any beings that could potentially surpass me. Miss Ignoblia suggested that I use this ability to drain the knowledge of every being on this pitiful planet named 'Eerth'."

"That's 'Earth'.", Keldor corrected him. "And for that matter, what good would draining knowledge from the people be?"

"Because, without knowledge, the local populace will need a purpose to guide them.", Professor Nozu laughed. "Namely, the purpose of searching far and wide for the Cubezords, to offer them up to Archris."

"An admirable plan.", Cuborg noted. "And the Power Rangers?"

"Oh, those interlopers.", Nozu noted. "Leave that with me. They won't be an issue."

At the library, Trunks had arrived, and was perusing through the different sections. "Alright, to learn more on the legends, I'll have to first find out about the local history. So I'll have to start there."

He went over to the desk, and asked if they had anything on the Savannah City woods. "Why yes, we have a book about that under the 'local' category. The lady running the desk informed him. "But you may have to wait a few minutes, someone else already checked it out. Some lady."

"Well, I'm sure I can discuss it with her.", Trunks decided, heading over there. But he got a good look at the woman reading it - middle-aged, dark hair worn in a business style, prominent glasses - and recognised her near instantly. "You!" The woman took one look at him in response to the shout, and then turned and ran off. "Hey, wait!", Trunks called out as he ran after her. Eventually, he saw her duck in between a pair of bookshelves, and moved to turn in the same direction. "Found you."

But instead of the woman he was chasing, he saw an elderly Chinese woman, wearing a cheongsam, with her hair tied up in twin buns. Trunks knew that the latter detail meant that she was married. "Oh, I'm sorry Ma'am. I was just looking for a book. About local history."

"Well, you're in the wrong section.", the woman scolded him. While her English was perfect, Trunks noted that her accent was very thick. "This is the international cuisine section."

"I knew that.", Trunks responded. "I was also sure I saw Florence Primavera, you know, the lady who was on the news recently. I wanted to know what she was doing here, reading a book in the history section."

"Oh, I know who you're talking about.", the woman said. "Don't worry. If I see her, I'll be the first to let you know."

It was then that an alarm sounded, with a voice over a speaker blaring "Red alert! Red alert! Monster attack in progress. Please retreat to a safe distance until the Power Rangers have dealt with the crisis."

"I'd better go.", Trunks said to the woman, as he turned and ran away. "Be sure to pass on my message to Dr. Primavera." As he ran, he took out his Morpher, and opened the phone function. "Guys, we have a monster attack near the University library. Get over here quickly."

In town, Professor Nozu walked down the street as the citizens fled in terror. "You're all very smart, for bipeds.", he commented. "I'll have to do something about that." He went after a random man in a leather jacket, who ended up cornered. "Starting with this fellow." He touched the man with a staff resembling a calligraphy pen, draining all of his knowledge and memories from his brain. "Good. Now to move on."

"Hey!" As Nozu moved to turn away, he spun around to see 4 of the 5 Rangers - Red, Blue, Yellow and White, like the flag of Malaysia - run forward, drawing their swords as the approached the man. "Leave this guy alone.", Johnny called out.

"My, you're interesting specimens.", the Professor commented as he tapped his staff to his head.

"Get to safety.", Marina said to the man, who Lenny helped to usher off.

Johnny then ran in to slash at Nozu with his Primal Saber, before the other three launched their own sword attacks, that caused his hat to wobble. The onslaught of sword attacks continued, until Johnny decided to switch things up. "Primal Blaster!" He fired point blank at the chest, knocking Professor Nozu to his knees. "That's it."

"My, you are powerful.", the Professor commented, a grovelling tone in his voice. But then the holes in his chest healed in an instant. "This body of mine may not be powerful, but it does have a healing factor." He then leapt back to his feet.

"He can…", Johnny commented.

"Heal…", Lenny continued.

"His body?", Tora concluded.

"Ah, it's not my body per se.", Professor Nozu answered her. "It's just a poor unfortunate I use to get around. But it has its uses."

"You're open." Trunks leapt in, firing at the enemy, and knocking his hat off. He then ran forward and pushed the Professor's main body into the wall. "Alright, what are you up to?"

"Don't hurt me, Mister.", the alien pleaded, now speaking without the accent and with a much simpler manner of speaking. "I'm not that smart guy. He was just using me to move around. Thanks for freeing me by the way."

"Wait.", Trunks realised. "So if this guy isn't the bad guy then he's…?"

"The hat?" Everyone turned to see Tora, now reverted to her Animan form, now wearing the motorboard and a set of blue graduation robes, her voice now possessing the same cadence and accent the alien had just been speaking with. "I think I've changed my mind. Your species isn't as bright as I thought it was."

"Oh no.", Lenny realised. "That evil hat thing possessed Tora."

"And I'm about to quash your hopes of recovering her for the moment.", the Professor-in-Tora chuckled, as he threw down a set of Bacteri coins, which materialised. "I'll leave these fellows to play with you." With that said, she teleported away.

The Rangers were thus faced with no choice but to engage in battle. "It's been a while since we've had to fight these things.", Marina noted as she delivered a cross chop to one of the Bacteri. She then leapt forward to kick another. "And they're no less annoying."

"But we're no less powerful.", Lenny pointed out as he smacked the heads of two of the Bacteri together. "We can get through these guys like a knife through butter."

"I've also picked up a few tricks since then.", Johnny added. "Primal Change: Gorilla!" He transformed into the Gorilla Ranger, pounding his fist into the ground. This created a fissure that sent the Bacteri flying. "Trunks, if you please."

Trunsk was shaken out of his funk by these words. "Right." He pointed at the airborne Bacteri with his Primal Blaster, shooting and destroying all of them. "Sorry about that. If I hadn't rushed in, then Tora wouldn't be in danger."

"We'll get her back.", Marina assured him. "For now, we need to figure out what to do with him." She pointed to the alien, who was in the midst of breaking a mirror off a car and playing with it like an aeroplane. "We can't leave him here."

"Well we can't take him back with us either.", Johnny insisted, before noticing that everyone was staring at him, even the alien. "Why's everyone looking at me?"

Back onboard the Arrowhead, Ignoblia returned to see Professor Nozu's new form. "So, I've heard that there were several individuals throughout the universe called 'Professor Nozu'.", she commented. "It seems that they were all one and the same."

"Of course.", the Professor nodded. "I latch into bodies, drain them dry of all their knowledge and then move onto a stronger body to carry on. Each body is normally stronger than the last, but I had to take this one over in a hurry. And unfortunately, the bulk of her knowledge is the plot of children's stories. And merging my DNA with hers has prevented me from using the Morpher to transform." They slammed their fist down on the throne. "It's worthless."

"Not quite.", Keldor pointed out. "The Power Rangers will give us anything we want to get her back unharmed. Even their Cubezords."

"Or indeed, my previous vessel.", Nozu laughed. "Perhaps even a more powerful one."

Elsewhere, at the zoo-house, everyone was observing the alien, who had taken to playing with model planes. Johnny was the first to try talking to him. "So, Mr -? What is your name?"

"Oh, that I do know.", the alien giggled. "My mommy and daddy called me Medullum. That's one thing the hat guy didn't take."

"This hat guy.", Marina took over. "What exactly did he take from you, Medullum?"

"Well the guy got hooked up with the thing in my head and said he was gonna suck everything out of it while he was controlling my body. He hen proceeded to suck the stuff out of everyone else on my planet.", Medullum answered.

"So this guy goes about sucking everything from people's brains.", Lenny surmised. "Leaving nothing but these gibbering morons. Uh, no offence Medullum."

"No off fences taken.", Medullum assured him. "Because the hat guy didn't take everything. He left those things that happened, but didn't really happen, but other people told us they happened."

"You mean 'stories'.", Trunks realised. "The Professor may not see them as worthwhile, just like I don't."

"Well I'd say he's wrong.", Marina spoke up. "Stories can give us hope for the future, inspire us to take a path in life, a stance on important matters. More importantly, they give us ways to express ourselves in ways we can't by talking."

Trunks was taken aback by this. "When I was a few days old, I never wanted to go to sleep. There was so much I wanted to crawl about on that I couldn't during the day. But then my mother came in one night and told me a tale about a shrew who refused to go to sleep. He spent so much time awake that he became incredibly tired. And then Centitrax the Destroyer, returned from the depths of space, stumbled upon him one night. The shrew was too tired to make his escape, and ended up being put to sleep with no chance of ever waking up, because he didn't use the choice when he had it. I'm not sure whether the story was true or not, but it had an effect on me, and I always made sure to spend time sleeping."

Medullum was confused, surprisingly for a being that currently had a literally empty head. "Wait, you remember when you were a baby?"

"I am an elephant.", Trunks pointed out.

Suddenly, Marina saw her Morpher ringing. "Who could possibly have my number?", she asked, before answering it. "Hello?"

The voice on the other end was the possessed Tora. "I figured out how to use your little toy's communicator function. Don't worry, I haven't stripped any knowledge from your friend's head, the fact that much of it is useless notwithstanding. So I'm willing to give her back to you unharmed, if you return Medullum to my control. You have 1 hour to comply." The call then ended.

Medullum continued to play innocently. "We can't just hand that guy over.", Johnny pointed out. "Even to save Tora."

"Right.", Lenny nodded. "But we can't just show up with nothing. He'll notice."

Marina then thought of something. "You don't have to be a genius to see the big picture here."

This just confused Medullum. "I think you do. I'm just confused."

"No wait, she's right.", Trunks realised. "Big picture. That's what we need."

Sometime later, the 4 Rangers were stood in a field. "Hey, Hat Guy.", Lenny called out. "What are you waiting for? Come on down, and we'll make our switch."

It was the that Professor Nozu teleported down. "Well, since you're making such a scene of it. Where is Medullum?"

"He's over there.", Johnny answered, pointing at the Professor's former body, stood out in the open.

"If you want to take him over, then release our friend and go over to him.", Marina continued.

"Very well then.", the Professor nodded before he detached from Tora's body, restoring her clothes to normal in the process, before floating off.

"What?", Tora asked. "Where am I?"

"No time to explain.", Trunks answered her. "Just know that it's Morphin' Time!"

"Right.", Tora nodded as she took out her Morpher. "'Primal Instincts, Awaken', right?"

Nearby, the true form of Professor Nozu floated over to Medullum, who still hadn't moved. But when he movies to retake the body, the Professor discovered that it was actually a cardboard cutout. "Made you look." Nozu turned around to see Johnny hit him with the Chain Saber, sending him flying. "Now then, since we managed to fool you, we'll let you know who you were outsmarted by. Souring through the skies, Wild Fury Eagle Ranger!"

"Terror of the Deep Seas, Wild Fury Shark Ranger!"

"Ruler of the Jungle, Wild Fury Lion Ranger!"

"Sage of the Plains, Wild Fury Elephant Ranger!"

"Wanderer of the Mountains, Wild Fury Tiger Ranger!"

"Call of the Wild, Power Rangers Wild Fury!"

But in the confusion, Nozu merely flew over and latched onto Johnny's head, taking him over. "If I can't have my old body back, then I'll take this one." He then extended his Chain Saber, using it to knock everyone else back. "And that's but a taste of the power afforded by this body. Primal Mode Unleash!" He then generated the Eagle Ranger's wings.

"We have that power too, you know.", Marina pointed out. "Primal Mode, Unleash! Tidal Impact!" She tried spinning towards the possessed Johnny, but Nozu used his wings to generate a whirlwind that knocked her back, before leaping forward to slash her with both of his swords.

"We can't hurt him, or even touch him.", Lenny pointed out. "Not when he has Johnny's body and all of his powers."

"'All of…' That's it.", Trunks realised. "Hey. You do realise that you're not using Johnny's powers at the fullest. You need to transform into the Gorilla Ranger to do that."

"Trunks, what are you doing?", Tora asked. "Do you want him to win?"

"Trust me.", Trunks whispered. "I have a plan."

"Oh, so I have yet more power, do I?", Nozu asked. "How do I access it?"

"Oh that's simple.", Trunks explained. "You simply place your hand to your chin, push it up and then say 'Primal Change: Gorilla' and you'll be transformed."

"Well if it's that simple." Nozu did the gesture. "Primal Change: Gorilla!" But in doing this, he launched himself off the body and into the air.

"This is my chance. Primal Mode, Unleash!" Trunks transformed and leapt into the air. "Rock Quaker!" He stepped down on the hat-like alien, slamming it into the ground, where it exploded. "School's out."

Johnny then recovered from the possession. "I can only assume you took care of that guy while I was out."

"Pretty much.", Lenny answered him. "Thought it was mostly Trunks."

In all the celebration, Ignoblia appeared. "Looks like all of you are due for a detention.", she commented, inserting the gold medal into Nozu's remains. "Now let's see if I can make the largest mind in the universe any larger."

The Rangers saw Nozu, now a giant, floating above the city. "Let's take this guy to school.", Johnny stated. "Cubezords, enlarge!"

The two Megazords formed in their usual formations. "Jungle Megazord, ready!"

"Beast Force Megazord, ready!"

The two Megazords pointed the Giraffe Zooka and Mole Drill Blaster at Professor Nozu. "This might be our easiest battle ever.", Lenny stated, as Marina placed her Morpher into her control weapon.

But the shots they fired missed entirely, with Nozu moving to latch himself onto the Beast Force Megazord, taking control of it, with tendrils appearing in the cockpit that took control of Marina's body while Lenny was restrained. "You were saying?", she asked.

"That doesn't look good.", Tora said as the Beast Force's eyes turned from blue to purple.

"We're right in his sights.", Trunks realised as the Nozu-Megazord fired the Giraffe Zooka, hitting and buffeting the Jungle Megazord.

"We just need to aim for the hat.", Johnny stated. "Let's jump up." The Jungle leapt into the air, throwing the Mole Drill Balster into Nozu's real body, knocking it off.

Without the monster controlling it, the Megazord's eyes returned to normal. "Thanks guys. Now let's do some fly-swatting.", Marina radioed them.

"Right.", Johnny nodded. "Megazords, combine!" The two robots came together as one once more. "Jungle Beast Megazord, ready!"

"Jungle Beast Stampeding Strike!" The Jungle Beast unleashed its ultimate attack, obliterating the body of Professor Nozu once more. "Top of the food chain!"

Back on the Arrowhead, Ignoblia returned. "So I see that my decision to entrust Professor Nozu with the destruction of the Rangers and the retrieval of the Zords was another abject failure."

"Not entirely.", Keldor informed her. "Thanks to his brief possession of Tora, and therefore her Morpher, we were able to scan the energy signatures of the Cubezords and the inner workings of their Morphers. So we can not only detect Cubezords and find their locations…"

"But we can also create our own Morpher and our own Ranger.", Ignoblia realised. "Oh, I think I've worked out a plan to secure our victory."

Back at the zoo-house, Medullum was in the process of walking to a spaceship that had appeared. "So, what are you going to do now?", Marina asked. "You've got your intelligence back, and presumably so does your planet."

"Well with my smarts back, I thought I'd try and apply to become a teacher.", Medullum answered her. "Because knowledge should be shared, not hoarded like Nozu did."

"Speaking of 'knowledge', where's Trunks?", Lenny asked.

"He said he was meeting someone at the library.", was Johnny's answer. "But he didn't say who."

And at the Library, Trunks met up with who he was expecting to meet. "Dr. Primavera. So you got my message."

"Yes, Mrs. Leung passed it right onto me.", was Dr. Primavera's answer. "What was it you wanted to talk to me about?"

"Your discovery of that new seed.", Trunks said in response. "Where did it come from?"

"It was a project I worked on with a friend and colleague.", was Dr. Primavera's answer. "We both thought that rapid industrialisation would eventually result in everything, plants and animals alike, dying off. This seed was created to find a way of ensuring that the planet could survive and evade the threat of complete industrialisation. But my friend died, so I thought I'd press on with ensuring this was distributed where it could do some good."

"Well, thanks for your interesting lecture, Doctor.", Trunks said as he turned to leave. "And I hope you succeed in your endeavour."

As he left, Dr. Primavera removed a DNA cloak from her mouth and replaced it with another, transforming into Ignoblia. "So do I, Green Ranger. As do I." She then teleported away.
