From Episode 1 Season 1
The Danger Zone Logo fades to Show Justinius at the desk as normal for the opening and ending segments.
"High everyone," he says in a subdued tone.
"It's been fun introducing you all to my family and telling you a bit about us. You might have noticed I haven't talked about one thing, however. How I got my powers.
"While I am the child of two Novas and that means I was sure to carry the Nova genes. That doesn't always mean they find expression. Like with my brother Jon. When they do activate it can be rough, all Novas still have to go through an event that pushes them to feel they need the power that Eruption brings.
"For most of us, it's something traumatic and I am no exception. It wasn't nearly as bad as some and I don't belittle their eruptions in the slightest. Most Novas don't like talking about such a personal event save in any but the most generic terms. I feel like not telling you would be a bit of a cop-out.
"We didn't live where we are now. We had moved here to Detroit but we lived in the exurbs. We moved here because of the job offer from Hightower. Mom and Dad figured as they'd been retired from being superheroes for years with no issue we were off the radar. Truth is it's different living in the boonies of Tennesse near grandpa and living in the city."
Justinus pulls the goggles from his head and lays them on the counter. He looks about a bit then wets his lips and continues the tale.
"We had a yard and stuff and I was out playing with my siblings and our dog Buddy. We had sent Ghost away to live with Aunt Bonnie and them but Buddy was a smart dog and well-behaved we thought he'd adapt to the move. He never got the chance. Some men in a truck attempted to ram the house. Later we found out the truck was full of explosives. They were Anti-Nova extremists who hoped to kill us.
"I wasn't paying any attention to all of that because when the truck came barrelling toward the house Buddy knocked me over. It made me roll out of the way of the wheels but poor Buddy was crushed from just below the ribcage back. I held him as he died. I desperately wished I could save him, That I could do something anything. That is when I erupted.
"I had a marble, a shooter in my hand, a cool clear one. A wealth of information flooded into my mind and I knew what it was. It was the very essence of Buddy. I pushed that essence into the only thing I had on me that might store it the marble"
Justinius stands up and walks over to a complex techno-sculpture of a canine. He stops in front of it and holds up a clear marble with a smoky cloud in the center.
"This is that very marble and when I put it into here." He says while lifting the top of the canine head revealing an inverted cup that matches its inverse in the base of the skull. Dropping the marble in carefully he pushes down the top of the skull and with it the other half of the cup down to make a seal. As the top clicks into place, the canine eyes blink and the ears move.
Now mobile the robot looks over and tilts its head looking a the boy's now tear-stained eyes
"It's not really Buddy. But in a way, a little of Buddy lives on. Sort of like he's Buddy's puppy. My first super invention.
"Not long after the police of Detroit needed an edge to fight criminals who were hyped up on weird drugs that gave people superpowers my first idea was police dogs like Buddy.
"Other inventions I've made might have made bigger waves but this is the first one. The one I'm most proud of. I think Buddy would be happy to know that just like how he saved my life, more lives are being saved. So if you ever see the police with a Buddy K-10 robot remember it's there to serve and protect not to scare and hurt"
He stands up and walks back to the desk to pick up his goggles as the robotic dog follows.
"Catch you all next time when we'll have even more exciting adventures learning about our fascinating world and amazing things in it and till then remember..."
He puts the goggles on and pulls them into place
"Goggles down when it's time for DANGER!"
Credits roll...
