Back in the dark hallway, Burchard kneels a dozen or so feet down the hall from the window where he tapes a flashbang to one of the hallway columns and carefully ties one end of a piece of wire to the pin then runs it to the other side of the hallway and tape it there. He gently plucks at the wire like a guitar string while thinking to himself, "this should buy me some time."
-
He quietly walks back to the window where he had the rope tied and ready. After tying himself to the end, he pulls his rifle from his back and takes a deep breath in while saying, "here goes nothing."
-
SMASH!!!
-
He breaks open the window which like the last time lets sunlight into the hall and after raising his night vision, he climbs out the window but as he gets clear of any remaining broken glass, he starts to hear someone sprinting towards him with a chain dragging along with it. He stays calm as he starts to lower himself down the wall while paying close attention to how far away the sprinting figure was from him and as it gets close, he starts to grin while saying, "just a little closer."
-
BANG!!!
-
A brief flash of light is seen shining out of the window while he hears whoever was running towards him stumbling around and trying to get their balance back and not wanting to let this advantage go to waste, he quickly climbs down the rope but as he passes by another window, to his dread he feels the rope above being pulled back up which causes him to look up while saying, "damn it! How'd they recovered that fast!!!"
-
with himself now being dragged up the wall and running out of ideas, he sees the window he had past, and without hesitation, he pushes off the wall with both feet while shouting, "hope this works!!!"
-
SMASH!!!
-
He crashes through the window and luckily enough, the rope gets cut by a stray piece of broken glass which sends him tumbling to the floor with a loud THUD!!!
-
Burchard now lies sprawled out on the floor with pieces of broken glass covering him and groans in discomfort but realizing he had escaped his attacker causes him to sigh in relief then mutters to himself, "thank god I got away from them."
-
"Uh? Who are you?"
-
Freezing at the sound of the unfamiliar voice, he gets to his knees and slowly looks over while putting a hand on his pistol but to his surprise he sees a boy around his age with spikey dark brown hair and brown eyes sitting up in a bed and looking back at him. They have an oddly uncomfortable staring contest while Burchard thinks to himself, "great…. another wierdo."
-
Burchard continues to kneel there while brushing off pieces of glass and saying, "sorry for just dropping by."
-
He scratches the back of his helmet while trying to think of a plausible excuse then finally says with an innocent smile, "I went through the wrong window by mistake."
-
Burchard continues to smile innocently at the strange boy while thinking to himself, "dear god that sounds suspicious as hell."
-
A bead of sweat starts running down his temple while the boy continues to look back at him with a mix of intrigue and confusion until he finally asks, "your not from here are you?"
-
Burchard continues to smile back at him innocently while replying, "is it that obvious?"
-
The boy nods his head then with his arms crossed grins slyly while saying, "the guns kind of give you away."
-
Suddenly the boys eyes go wide as if coming to a sudden realization while blurting out, "hang on! Your not from this world either!"
-
Burchard blinks back at him a few times then finally realizing what he just said, he asks, "either?"
-
Suddenly the doorknob starts turning which causes Burchard to start to panic while whispering, "shit!!! Someone's coming!"
-
He starts frantically looking around for a place to hide but gets thrown off when the boy says, "their early."
-
He looks at him with confusion but before he could ask, the door starts to open which causes him to once again panic while the boy lies back down in bed while whispering, "quick! Get under the bed!"
-
Without thinking, Burchard quickly dives under the bed just as the door fully opens. He remains as silent as humanly possible when he hears two pairs of footsteps walking into the room. From his position, he is able to look out from under the bed and see two pairs of stocking and black shoe wearing feet stopping a few inches from his face in front of the bed then hears an unfortunately familiar voice saying, "sister sister, it appears that our guest is still sleeping."
-
Confused by the label, Burchard thinks to himself, "wait? so he's the guest I kept hearing about?"
-
He wasn't able to think about this for long when he hears an even more unfortunately familiar voice responding, "rem rem, it appears that our guest is quite lazy since he is still sound asleep even with someone crashing through his window."
-
One pair of feet walks over to the broken window and says, "you were right Ram, it appears our other guest did come through here."
-
The other pair of feet stays in place while saying, "this is the only window below the one he went out of, but where could he have gone?"
-
Burchard gets covered in a cold sweat while trying desperately to stay as motionless as humanly possible when he hears Rem saying, "we were in the hallway before he could have snuck out that way, and it appears that he did not go back through the window, therefore he must not have gone far."
-
Silence fills the room as the two maids seem to ponder where he could have gone then he sees the pair of feet in front of him walk over to the closet while Ram says, "hmm, maybe he tried hiding in here?"
-
She opens the door but seeing nothing, she sighs in annoyance than turns back to her sister while stating, "he isn't in there."
-
The pair of feet start walking back to the bed while Rem asks, "should we check under the bed?"
-
Burchard feels his heart drop as he looks at the pair of feet in front of him while he covers his mouth in an attempt to muffle his now panicked breathing but to his relief he hears Ram saying, "I don't think there's a point? Only an absolute fool would hide in such an obvious hiding place."
-
A feeling of relief starts to come over him as he hears Rem say, "as always you are right dear sister, It would be a waste to check such an obvious place."
-
Burchard sighs in relief though that quickly dissipates as he feels someone grab hold of his foot and in one swift motion drags him out from under the bed while he panickly claws at the floor in a futile attempt to stay concerned. Now in the open but still face down, Burchard lies there frozen in place while he hears a voice above him saying, "your intuition was correct sister, he was foolish enough to hide under the bed."
-
Realizing that he was as exposed as he could be, a brilliant idea comes to mind as he gets to his feet and brushes off any excess broken pieces of glass while saying with as innocent of a smile as humanly possible, "hey you two? I'm surprised to see you here?"
-
He looks between the two maids who glare back at him though rams glare seems to be more obvious then rems but non the less he continues to look innocently between the two while asking, "geez why so angry?"
-
He starts looking around and ignores the boy, who continues to pretend to be asleep, but fixates on the broken window and glass at his feet which causes him to chuckle guiltily then say, "your probably mad about the mess? Well I would be too and since it was my fault I'll happily clean it up!"
-
He starts walking towards the door and passes Ram while continuing, "you two stay here and make sure no one cuts themselves on any of the broken glass while I go find a broom. Be back in a sec!"
-
He pauses however when he feels a hand firmly grip his shoulder with enough force for him to feel each of their individual finger tips through the few layers he was wearing but isn't able to focus on the pain for long when he hears Rams overly forced calm voice saying, "where do you think you're going?"
-
He continues to smile innocently while replying sheepishly, "I thought I was clear? I'm grabbing a broom."
-
Unfazed by his response, she continues to dig her nails into his shoulder while asking, "do you honestly believe me or Rem would be foolish enough to believe that?"
-
He intern laughs guiltily then replies, "I was hoping?"
-
For whatever reason, his response is met with her grip on his shoulder growing in force to the point it felt like she was trying to rip off a chunk of meat while saying coldly, "saying such foolish things is not helping you."
-
With the pain becoming almost unbearable, he fights to stay on his feet but decides it was best to respond in a laboured tone, "yah know. This deep tissue massage your giving me is doing wonders for my bad shoulder but if you could move your pinky a little to the left, that would be great."
-
Annoyed by the comment she snaps, "why you….
-
"What's going on?"
-
She pauses her sentence but doesn't release her grip as she turns around towards the bed and is surprised to see the boy sitting up in bed while looking back at them though before Ram could say anything, Rem elegantly bows to him while saying, "forgive us for waking you dear guest. We are in the process of removing an unwanted guest from your room."
-
The boy looks back at her with a raised eyebrow and attempts to fane ignorance while asking, "unwanted guest?"
-
He looks back over at Burchard and Ram just as she says, "yes, this foolish individual broke into your room and we have come here to escort him away so you can get back to enjoying your lazy morning."
-
He continues to look back at her confused but to the surprise of everyone he points at Burchard while saying, "but he's not an unwanted guest?"
-
Now equally as confused both Burchard and Ram look back at him with a raised eyebrow while she asks, "what do you mean?"
-
He starts to smile cheekily back at her while replying, "well he is my personal bodyguard of course!"
-
The room falls silent until as if on cue, the other three occupants of the room all look over at the boy and let out a collective, "huh?"
