"Owl, a big blue owl appeared next to me. Her eyes, glowing white, looked at me like a victim. I have met her before and I know that this meeting does not bode well. I need to run. Run as hard as I can. Seir needs to be returned to the Tree, and life on this island will once again sparkle with its former colors. But everything turned out to be a little different, I did not expect such an outcome. It was hard for me to accept my difficult fate. The Light no longer belonged to the Tree, a new era had come. I went to all this for her — my beloved owl.
I lost my sworn sister in a forest unknown to me. Away from home. I don't know how long I've been running around looking for Ku, but fatigue won't stop me from moving on. A loud howl was heard behind me, and, turning around, I only had time to appeal to the higher powers of light to give me the strength to escape from a big toothy monster ready to tear me apart. I had a lot of enemies. All of them were the product of evil, their essence is a thick and impenetrable darkness. One of them was a scary creature that looked like a mass of slime with teeth and tentacles that grabbed me. It made it impossible for me to move, and I was seized with fear. Then my friend, Ofer, came to the rescue. Perhaps due to the fact that he belonged to the ape-like species, he deftly managed to move around the room with the help of many hanging vines and various mechanisms. He jumped on the tentacle of the slug holding me and hit it next to me. I was free, but an enraged monster with a stream of water forced me to run, again… Kwolok… Mora, a big spider... a huge sandworm in the temple of the Gorleks... and a Shriek. Eternal running around. I'm tired, dead tired. Ku, I'm sorry. I will be strong, for you, moki, Ofer, Tokk and the rest. I crawled with the last of my strength, suffering from pain after the battle with the Shriek. I knew that no one else could save this world except me. The path to the wounded flame was endless for me, I remembered my friends and relatives. How I blamed myself for not being able to save those who sacrificed themselves so that I could now, overcoming the pain, crawl to this terrible unknown. I won't let anyone repeat my fate. Seir. I accept your light. My soul will revive this tormented land and give a new life."
"Nori-i-i".
A bright flash lit up my consciousness, and when I heard my name, I woke up abruptly. Drops of sweat trickled down my fur. I couldn't bring myself to get up from my cozy bed. At night I fell asleep curled up with my hind legs tucked up to me, and woke up lying on my back with my paws outstretched. The sleep was sound and deep. All my muscles were tense, and my mind was loaded from the flow of information from dreams. "And what did I dream? I remember... different shots... from memories. Escape from a big blue owl, and more than once, from a stream of water and something similar to water, only red and dark red, it was very hot. I remembered the loss of a friend in the air and the escape from a huge predator... and much more." And then I woke up. "It's not the first time I've heard my name, and every time I have a question: who is it? Who's calling me? A big beautiful tree with lights on the branches. Glowing leaves falling from a tree. All of this may be related to each other. Still constant running from danger. Is it really the meaning of someone like me?"
My ears picked up the singing of birds outside my house and the rapid dashes of unfamiliar creatures. My appendages, which grew just above the nose, began to move. At that moment, my nose managed to feel various smells. The smells of flowers covered with morning dew, sweet fruits, the abundance of which turned out to be quite large. Smells of trees, moss and resin. "It's all so nice to feel, but how do I know all this?" Another question haunted me in the morning. I had to leave my cozy bed, my house, which had become my own, for the sake of finding answers to my questions and for the sake of food.
I managed to find a tree with fruits not far from my house. The fruits turned out to be the same, one of which was brought to me by a small animal. During the meal, I heard heavy approaching footsteps with periodic sounds of small falling trees and stones. Before I could fully turn to the source of the noise, out of the corner of my eye I saw a creature approaching me. I had to jump aside to avoid being crushed by the beast's paws. He tore down the tree next to which I was standing, and left only a broken trunk from it.
While the clumsy creature was turning around, I managed to see it. He moved with the help of four short thick paws. He had a wide, sharp horn on his nose, and his body was covered with dark armor. Despite the large body size, armor and short legs, he developed decent speed. I remembered my dream and the truth at the moment. I need to run and hide. Climb a tree, somehow escape from the enraged creature.
I maneuvered between trees, bushes and jumped over various obstacles in an attempt to escape from the pursuer. His speed was faster than mine, and from time to time, I had to jump aside to avoid being hit in the back with a bone horn. I tried to find shelter by looking around the area, but I was out of luck. After another dodge, I tried to climb a thick tree. My paws were sliding on the bark, and I couldn't get to the nearest branch.
The creature that was chasing me crashed into a tree at full speed, and I flew down. It didn't seem to like my landing on the creature's back, and it tried to throw me off in various ways. My grip on the shell turned out to be weak, and after another blow against a tree, I ended up on his head. We looked into each other's eyes, in which I saw nothing but hatred. I turned around at the moment when we flew into another tree, breaking it. Splinters of splintered wood slashed across my body, leaving deep cuts and splinters. I felt a strong blow in the back. Then there was the ease of falling. We fell off the cliff and flew down into the water.
The beast took a strong blow on the surface of the water, but I was just blown away by a sharp stream of water from his head. I couldn't breathe. Water got into the nose and flowed down the throat. Panic seized me. Moving all my paws, I tried to get to the surface of the water. It was scary. For the first time, I wasn't lucky enough to feel what it was like to be without air. After I got to the surface, I had no choice but to paddle with my paws to stay on the surface and move towards the shore. When I got to the shore, I started coughing up the water that got into my body. My heart was beating at a high speed, not wanting to calm down, and my thoughts could not come back to normal. All these events turned out to be very difficult for me, and I just wanted to flatten out on the grass. But the pain in the whole body did not give rest. The wounds bled and hurt. There was weakness in the body and internal pains in different places.
Suddenly I remembered the creature with whom I fell into the water, and something inside me caused concern for him. I crawled to the water and looked down. At the bottom lay the very beast that tried to harm me, and for some reason I felt sorry for him.
My inner state was gripped by sadness, and my mind kept trying to dissuade my heart from jumping into the water and trying to pull it out. I overcame these desires, considering them insane. My condition would not allow me to do anything for him. "I didn't mean it, I'm sorry... I'm sorry. Why did I deserve this?" A few tears fell from my eyes.
After looking around, I slowly headed towards the trees. My light was getting weaker and weaker, and I myself was getting worse. My vitality was leaving me. "I'm tired. I was very tired of all this." A strange green plant attracted my attention, and immediately a memory surfaced in my head with the same creature named Ori. "He, all wounded, jumped on such a plant and was able to get some green balls out of it. One of them Ori absorbed into his body, and the wounds quickly healed. He continued on his way."
I didn't have the strength to jump, and I climbed this plant with an effort. "What... what should I do? I got down on my knees and closed my eyes, ready to give up. Humility with my fate penetrated deeper and deeper into my consciousness, but the strength of my spirit reminded me of itself. I gathered all my remaining will into a fist and, raising my paw, hit the top of the flower. The flower that was under me evaporated, and my body ended up on the ground. A certain emptiness that haunted my consciousness was filled with something strange and familiar. In the secret vault of my mind, I felt those spheres that I saw in the memory. My last strength was running out, and I needed to try to use one of the spheres. I put my paw in front of me with the palm open up and imagined this green ball. A small green sphere with a faint green glow and inner wreaths of a lighter shade than itself appeared in my palm. I did the same thing Ori did. The green glow went all over my body, tightening all the wounds and relieving me of pain. I felt a surge of strength. My glow shone with a bright white light again, but the sadness of what happened remained in my soul. I sighed and looked towards the pond with a sad look.
"What's that over there?" My attention was attracted by a strange gate located in the wall next to the pond. It merge well with the facade of the wall, which hides it from a cursory glance. Coming closer and removing vegetation from the gate, I was able to see its structure in detail. Two doors connected to each other with various patterns and four openings of an interesting shape. They seem to lack parts of these gates. I tried to push the doors apart, find a lever, at least something that could open them. Then I put my paw to one of the doors. "Looks like it's not the time for me to get there."
I heard the cries of birds and looked up. A flock of birds flew past me, and I wanted to follow them. The birds flew freely over the forest, and I had to run without slowing down, jumping over various obstacles and sometimes looking up to not miss them. So a couple of times I almost hit the branches and stumbled over large stones and logs lying on the ground. The sound of sea waves reached my ears, and my sensitive nose smelled the smell of wet sand. "A sea wave... how do I know what it is? And the smell of sand?" I slowed down. I was visited by memories again:
"Ori, along with a large black and blue creature named Naru, came to the shore, where the wind was driving small waves out of the ocean. Ori was happy. He grabbed Naru by the paw and pulled her towards the ocean, pointing at it.
— It's called the "ocean", and the sea waves run through it, — her voice was happy and pleasant. Ori ran close to the water. Waves swept over his hooves, completely hiding under the water. The glowing animal took wet sand in its paws and, moving away from the water, sat down on the sandy shore. When he lost interest in the wet sand, he put it down and looked at Naru with a questioning sweet look. — And this is all sand, my dear, — Ori lowered his head, and at that moment the wind blew. Fine grains of sand got into the nose, causing irritation. Ori sneezed."
I sneezed too, and it saved me from the tree I almost ran into. Behind it was a beautiful, clean sandy beach with large boulders and grass growing in places. The birds had already flown away towards the ocean, towards the island that was visible in the distance.
I sat down on a boulder, which was in the shade of the branches of a tree, and watched the birds fly away. "I wish I could fly away and find at least someone like me."
The island in the distance beckoned with its view. My attention was attracted by a tall tree with a bright blue light on its top. The idea of trying to swim across the ocean began to visit me, and I decided to take a chance.
A wave of cold water doused me from head to paws. My instinct began to worry me, forcing me to return to the shore, but curiosity and the desire to be near that tall tree were stronger. I swam, paddling with my paws in an effort to stay on the surface of the water. The waves hindered my progress, throwing me closer to the shore. Soon I began to run out of breath, and I was thrown back to shore by a particularly large wave. The water that got into my body caused a long cough that lasted until the excess water came out. "It turned out to be harder than I thought."
Walking along the sandy shore, looking towards the distant island, I came across a ridge of boulders in the form of a ring with a small passage. I got curious, and I climbed into a small space between two boulders. There was nothing interesting inside. Just as I was about to leave, my attention was attracted by an unusually shaped stone lying in the ground, Holf hidden by sand. Something pulled me to him, and I took him in my paws. "Hmm, it looks like..." — and then I remembered the gate in the wall with notches. Their shape is similar to this stone, and I couldn't wait to check my guess. I ran out from behind a ridge of boulders and headed for the ill-fated pond.
When I reached the mysterious gate, I looked again at the stone I had found and at the recesses in the doors. The stone perfectly entered one of the recesses, and the light went through all the gates, but nothing else happened. "It looks like we need three more of the same stones..."
I spent the rest of the day searching for the missing stones, but apart from a couple of troubles with local predators and fatigue, I couldn't find anything else.
It had been dark for a long time, and my strength was running out. I was sleepy, but then my stomach rumbled in the demand to find food. Not far from my house, I managed to find a couple of trees with delicious fruits, which I ate with pleasure. Full, tired and saddened by today's events, I lay down in my bed with the hope of a successful day tomorrow. "I want to see more memories. I want to see those happy animals that I dreamed about. And I want to find out who I am." I closed my eyes and fell asleep peacefully.
