Chapter Three Hundred and Seventy
Happy Birthday Baby, Part Ten
"I think we should wait at least two years before we do that." -Gabby Casey
Matt was absolutely surprised when it came to the fact that his wife thought that they should wait TWO YEARS before they go ahead and create a new headquarters, here in their new hometown. I mean, does she expect him to work here in his home from now on? Wait, is that what she wants him to do instead? To just work from home, rather than go into the office? Well, he guesses that he can do that; but he just isn't sure just what in the world that means for the rest of his staff. Does that mean that they're going to work from home? Those are all questions that they would need to talk about, if this is what they're thinking. If they're thinking to wait another two years before they open another office here in Chicagoland (that's the term that people use to refer to the Greater Chicago Area). So, he guesses that he just needs to talk to Gabby about that when it comes to what exactly she's thinking right now.
What she's thinking about when it comes to the reason why she wants to wait two years before they do that, before they start building a new office. Or is she just talking about before they move into a new office? Well, that most certainly is something that he needs to ask his wife about first; what exactly she means by two years. "Ok. What are you talking about when it comes to two years? Are you talking before we move in? Or construction?" Gabby took a breath as Matt asked her that question, as it was the later timeline. "I think it would be two years before we start building. Matt, we already have a lot of resources tied up. Between salaries, the current offices that we have, and the projects that we have on the go right now; that would just be a lot of work. And it would easy stretch us thin, and then add a bunch of stress onto our lives immediately." Matt thought about it, before letting out a sigh as that was true.
Especially when they already have enough on their minds: their marriage, their four beautiful children, their health, Matt's mental health (PTSD), etc. And that's just to name a few, due to the fact that there are a lot of other things that are on the go at the moment as they are also worried for their employees and how they are. But right now, they are not thinking about their staff right now; rather they are thinking about each other and what they're going to do right now. And that would be just talking to each other about what they want to do in the future, something that they want to do right now. "So, we're talking about two years to open a big office." Gabby sighed, as she agreed with her husband as he said that. "Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I want to just wait until we have more resources available to use here in Chicago." Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, not that they really need to worry about it.
They do have money, and they shouldn't be worried when it comes to how they are going to do with money. They're going to be fine, and that's nothing that Matt and Gabby are going to have to worry about right now. And at this moment, Matt doesn't want to add to her stress, which most certainly is exactly what this pandemic is already doing to her. But right now, they are just going to breathe and relax right now. "How about we take a breath then?" Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that, as that most certainly is what they need to do right now. They need to take a breath, as they relax and hold each other close. "I think that's perfect." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, smiling as he leaned in and kissed the woman he loves softly. "I love you." Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that, as she loves him too. "I love you, and how we can be honest with each other." Matt agreed, smirking at her.
After which, he proceeded to move his arm across her body; meanwhile, Gabby got close to him and wrapped her arms around his neck. While at the same time, she slipped her legs in between his as they cuddled up to each other here in bed, which truly is perfect. "God, I am so glad that this is what we're doing right now." Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, as he felt the same way. He felt comfortable, and extremely happy over the fact that he was currently holding the love of his life in his arms at the moment. "And I love the fact that I'm currently holding you in my arms right now." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case. "And I think that we both know that you will always love holding me in your arms." Matt agreed with Gabby, as he leaned in and proceeded to kiss the man she loves once more. "Okay, back to what we were talking about." Gabby agreed with her husband.
"So, we were saying that we want to move everything here. What does that mean for our staff in Hawaii?"
Matt sighed as Gabby asked him what it meant for their staff in Hawaii, which is something that he's always debating in his mind. What it means for their staff in Hawaii. "I was thinking that we could keep that office, but maybe reduce the number of floors that we use since we already own the building." Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that, as that most certainly is something that they can do. "And then you think that we can rent out some of the space?" Matt agreed with his wife as she said that. "And maybe we can also do something else. And this is where the reason I cancelled the Hawaii academy." Gabby agreed with her husband. "We can just find a space where we can build a garage, where we can keep our practice vehicles. But we can use some of the floors in our offices as the classrooms. We'd have to build walls in some of the floors, but I'm not sure yet." Gabby agreed with her husband, liking that idea.
But there was something else that he may want to do. "I was also thinking that there's a way that we can do to relieve the number of costs that we need to pay for ourselves." Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that, though she was a bit confused as she heard Matt say that. "OK. I'm not sure where you're going with this, but I am willing to listen." Matt agreed with Gabby, before smiling at Gabby. "Well, you do know that there is another fire academy in Chicago." Gabby laughed. "Do I ever, because we got engaged there." Matt smirked as he heard Gabby say that, while also leaning in and kissing the woman he loves. "One of the best nights of my life." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case. "Now, what's this about that academy?" Matt agreed. "Well, I will say this. It's the same one that I attended before I started my career at the CFD." Gabby was surprised as Matt said that.
"Really? It's that old, that we both attended the SAME fire academy?"
Matt agreed with Gabby. "Which is why I am thinking about something. Since it's starting to get old, I was thinking that maybe I can work out a deal with the CFD where we can pay for half of it; while they pay for the other half." Gabby agreed with Matt, as she thought that was something that they could do. "Well, I'm not going to say that I don't like that idea. Means that we aren't risking as much, and we can train them on our vehicles." Matt agreed, smiling at the woman he loves. "And it also means that we have staff that are already trained by the CFD, and that just work there without us having to pay them salaries; those can continue to be paid by the CFD, and maybe they can even pay us to use it. Our academy just replaces it." Gabby thought about it, and that most certainly is something that she can get behind as it was less risky. "OK. I think that's something as I can get behind." Matt agreed, smiling.
With the two of them now in agreement when it came to what they're going to do for the training facility here in Chicago, Gabby took a breath as there are some other questions as to what happens when it comes to their headquarters. "So, are we going to make the deal contingent on the fact that we can have our headquarters on the piece of land as well?" Matt agreed with Gabby, as that was something that they were thinking. "Maybe that's something we can do in the future. I know you said that you were worried about all those costs, and I think that's something that I need to slow down on. We already moved here quite quickly, so that means that we need to take things slow when it comes to moving the office here to Chicago." Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that. "But are you going to keep staff there in Hawaii?" Matt agreed with his wife, as that was something that he was going to do.
However, he may downsize a bit due to the fact that they aren't going to need all of the space. "Well, maybe I might bring some over so that we can reduce the number of floors that we use inside the building; then we can rent out the space that we have used up in the building, which means that building can also become something else for us." Looking up, Gabby was confused as she heard Matt say that. "And what would that be?" Matt smiled. "It can be income property, so that we can rent out some of the office space that we have there. We can keep the upper floors, as they are close to the homes that we have for our executives; but we can turn the other floors to rental space, or something like that." Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that, as that most certainly is something that she can get behind. "It could be used to fund this new expansion you want to do." Matt agreed. "So, are you in." Gabby bit her lip.
After all, she loved the idea; but she has a condition. "I am in favor of the idea, but I have a condition that needs to be met before I can go along with the idea that we're going to rent out space in the office." Matt agreed with his wife, well aware that he needs to negotiate with his wife as she is his partner in this venture. "And what would that be?" Taking a breath, Gabby looked at her husband before telling him what her condition is. "Only if you agree to not touch the CA floors, as I am going to still want to use that for my work from here. We can have them work there, as they make clothes for us; heck, I can even make the uniforms for the academies there if you want CA to." Matt snickered as he heard Gabby say that, as that most certainly was something that he was thinking about.
"Well, I do know the owner of CA; and I think that I could get a pretty sweet deal when it comes to getting a discount on uniforms."
Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case. "Yeah, that's what I was thinking to." Matt smirked as he heard Gabby say that, before leaning in and kissing the love of his life once more; the woman of his dreams who he loves more than anything in the entire world. "God, this is perfect." Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that, well aware that was the case. However, she also knew that he was saying it due to the fact that he wanted her. "Don't you dare thinking that flirting with me will get you anything with me. I want you to calm down, and just take it easy for a while mister." Matt agreed with Gabby, as that most certainly is exactly what he plans on doing. He plans on relaxing, as he holds the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world here in his arms. Plus, she's quite sexy. "I mean, what's sexier than me holding the love of my life in bed like this as we wear our sweats?"
Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, while also cuddling up to him once more; at the same time, she wrapped her arms around his, as they both held each other close and just cuddled up to each other right now. I mean, what woman wouldn't want to do this right now anyways? It's exactly what they both want to do, as they hold each other close here in bed with each other today.
They ended up laying down with each other in quiet for a moment, just all cuddled up to each other as they held each other close; something that Matt and Gabby always love doing when they get a chance to be alone with each other in bed. But that doesn't mean that Gabby was entirely relaxed, due to the fact that she was thinking about something that they said earlier; and that was something that they briefly spoke about on their walk. And now that they're alone, she wonders whether they should talk about it. But first, Matt went ahead and pressed his lips against his wife's forehead while he ran his hand up and down her arm (which was wrapped around his back as they cuddled up to each other under the covers); after which, he turned his head and looked down at his beautiful wife. "You're quite quiet right now." Turning her head, Gabby looked up at Matt. "Just thinking right now." Matt agreed with Gabby.
After which, he pressed his lips to her forehead softly. "Do you want to talk to me about what's on your mind?" Gabby agreed with her husband. "You already know what this is about, so it's not going to be a complete shock when I talk to you about it." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, starting to realize just what his wife was talking about. "You're talking about the investigations that you did." Gabby agreed with her husband, as that was exactly what she was talking about at the moment; she was talking about how she went on those investigations with Severide rather than her husband. "Is it wrong for me to want to talk about it, after you brought it up?" Matt shook his head, as it most certainly isn't wrong that she wants to talk to him about it as they can always talk to each other about everything and anything. "Hey, you know that we can always talk to each other about anything." Gabby agreed with her husband.
"I know, and I am quite happy that we already agreed that's the case."
Matt smiled as he heard Gabby say that, before moving his hand to the back of her head and bending down so that he could kiss her softly. "Ok. Now we need to talk about that some more. The investigations thing. I know it's something that we already spoke about during the road trip, but I feel like…" Looking at his wife, Matt shook his head. "Hey, look at me." Gabby agreed with Matt as she looked up at the man she loves. "We can always talk to each other about anything and everything, regardless of whether or not we already spoke about it. So, take a breath, and just relax for me babe." Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that, well aware that was what she needed to do. "So, where were we? Right, the investigation. I think we both know you might be a bit more tempted now." Gabby snickered. "Because we're back here in Chicago, or Chicago adjacent." Matt agreed with his wife, loving that fact.
"I think I like the fact that we live an hour away from Chicago, means that we're out of the City."
Gabby nodded as she heard Matt say that. "I promise you thought, I am not going to do the investigations without you, especially during the pandemic." Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, as that most certainly is something that she needs to worry about, the pandemic and the health and safety of their children. "Yeah, that's exactly what we need to do for the sake of our children." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, really happy that they are currently being safe for the sake of their children. She then proceeded to lean in and kissed the man she loves, due to the fact that he truly is the love of her life. But right now, they are both just all relaxed with each other. And now, they are going to just take it easy. "So, are we going to negotiate that with the city?" Matt laughed, as he knew that Gabby didn't want to talk about the topic that they started to talk about. "Babe…" Gabby agreed with Matt.
She then looked up into his eyes and just smiled due to the fact that they are really happy right now. "So, what are we going to talk about now?" Matt smirked as he looked at the woman he loves, as he most certainly has an idea as to what they can do. "Well, we can do something related to my birthday." Gabby shook her head as she heard Matt say that, as that was not what she wanted to do. She wanted to snuggle up to her man and just hold him close. "Maybe we can watch a movie instead, as I don't want sex." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, before kissing her again. "Then let's do just that." Gabby smirked. "Sorry I shut down your craving for sex, on your birthday." Matt shook his head. "Hey, you have every right to say no. And we're going to do it later." Gabby smirked, as they most certainly will. "Well, I think that most certainly is something that we're going to do." Matt agreed with Gabby.
At the same time, Gabby leaned her forehead against his as they both held each other close right now. "Do you mind if we take a nap? I am still tired at times when it comes to the stress." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, well aware that stress makes her tired. "I know that stress makes you tired. So, if you need to take a nap; then I will join you for a nap." Gabby smiled. "Well, I am braless though. So that might mean that I need to put something on." Matt agreed with his wife as she said that. "Then go ahead." Gabby agreed with Matt, before leaning in and kissing the man she loves; she then proceeded to get up so that she can go get changed. Meanwhile, Matt did the same so that they can take a nice nap with each other; a nap that Gabby needs to take right now.
Folding up his clothes after getting undressed, Matt smiled as he set them down on the bench that he and Gabby had at the end of their bed before looking down at Andy; bending down, he smiled as he rubbed the top of his head. "Hey boy, we're going to take a nap, okay?" Andy agreed with Matt as he laid his head down on the ground, meanwhile his patient walked away so that he could make his way into the bathroom where Gabby was currently getting changed to take a nap. And let's just say that Matt absolutely loves what he's currently look at right now, as she was wearing some absolutely sexy lingerie for him. "Now this is something that I love the sight up." Looking up in the mirror, Gabby snickered as she knew that Matt loved the sight of her in lingerie. "Can I get some help?" Matt agreed with Gabby, as she most certainly can get some help with that nice outfit that she was wearing for him right now.
"What do you think?"
Gabby snickered as she heard Matt say that, before minding her loving husband that he was doing up her lingerie, rather than undoing it so that they can enjoy each other in bed. "May I remind you that you're doing up my lingerie, not taking it off?" Matt smiled as Gabby said that, before walking right up behind her and grabbing the ropes that need to be done up this afternoon; while at the same time he whispered in her eat as he did up the lingerie for her. "No, that's later." Gabby then felt shivers run down her body, while Matt bent down and kissed her shoulder softly as a way to tease her. "Now that most certainly was a nice tease." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, well aware that was the case as he proceeded to do up the lingerie for his wife. "Tell me if it's too tight?" Gabby shook her head, as it isn't too tight. "I love the feeling of it being tight." Matt agreed with his beautiful wife, doing up her lingerie for her.
After which, he made sure to tie it up in a bow for her. A bow that was still easy to undo if she changed her mind and decided to want him sooner than she originally said; not that he can't wait for her. Waiting is something that he can do, as it'll make the sex even better due to the fact that it'll be something that he's waited for a while. "I'm so glad that you decided to put this on for me." Gabby agreed with Matt as he put his hands on her hips, before turning around and stepping close to him. She then put her hands on his chest and smiled as she was quite happy to be here with the man she loves more than anything in the entire world; something that she showed him by kissing him softly. Meanwhile, Matt picked her up in his arms and set her down on her vanity. And god, now if that wasn't something sexy that Gabby enjoyed. "Oh, now I loved that." Matt agreed with Gabby as he leaned in and kissed her softly.
"And I love you."
Gabby agreed with Matt as she leaned her forehead against his, before leaning in and kissing the man she loves again; however, it wasn't long before Matt bent down and kissed her neck rather than her lips. And boy did Gabby love that, as she moved her hand to the back of his head and tried to resist the urge to moan; but unfortunately, she wasn't able to do that and proceeded to moan for her birthday boy husband. "Matt…" Smirking as he heard Gabby moan, Matt turned his head and then leaned in to kiss her softly while she ran her fingers through his hair and took things nice and slow with her dreamy husband. "Now, this is perfect." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, before picking the woman he loves up in his arms, which then led to Gabby wrapping her arms and legs around his neck as a way to ensure that she isn't dropped by the man she loves, not that Matt would ever drop her as he carried her.
That was something that she already knew, due to the fact that Matt would never hurt her. He could never do it, due to the fact that it isn't in his nature to hurt anybody; that is unless they are hurting his family. She always remembers the way he took care of Nate Isaacs for her, and that most certainly is something that makes her love her husband even more. The fact that he loves to be that sexy, protective husband for her. But right now, he isn't going to be sexy with her; but he's instead going to hold her in bed as they took it easy and took a nap with each other, which is precisely what she needs to do. She feels like she needs to take a nap with her loving husband. "No funny business, okay Matt?" Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, while smiling as he carried her out to bed.
Climbing into bed with the woman he loves shortly after laying her down, Matt smiled as he looked at her as she was getting comfortable under the covers. "So, are we laying down side-by-side? Or are you going to want to sleep on my chest?" Gabby smiled as she thinks that she may want to actually sleep on his chest. "Would you be okay if I slept on your chest?" Matt snickered as Gabby asked him whether he'd be okay if she sleeps on his chest, as there was nowhere else that she'd rather sleep. "That's the only place that I ever want you to sleep on my chest." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, smiling as she cuddled up to the man of her dreams. "If you want to go be with the kids, you know you can do that." Matt shook his head, as he wasn't going anywhere. "I'm not going anywhere." Gabby agreed with Matt, as that was exactly what she wanted. She wanted him to stay. "Then take a nap."
Matt agreed with Gabby, as that was exactly what he was thinking of doing as well; he was going to join her in taking a nap. "I will, just like you're going to keep this lingerie on for me…until I take it off later." Snickering, Gabby agreed with Matt as she felt him wrap his legs around hers; and boy was that comfortable due to the fact that it was exactly what she wanted. She wanted her loving husband to hold her like this every single time she takes a nap.
