Moonlight shined through the window as he finally set his scroll down. Neo was now hanging off of his bed upside down still fiddling around with her game she'd been playing for the past hour. Miltia had fallen asleep at her desk. Melanie was brushing her hair.
"So who wants to share first?" Whitley asked as he saw Neo glance at him. Melanie turned with her brush still going through the strands of her hair. He looked back at Neo and nudged her then pointed at Miltia. Neo then promptly threw her scroll at Miltia which woke her up.
"Wh- who? What?" Miltia snapped awake rubbing the back of her head looking around.
"Ah good. Miltia. Happy to see you're eager to talk about what you and your sister are known for first." Whitley smiled with a tease before Miltia scoffed and sighed.
"Do I like, really have to?" She looked at her sister with a look that seemed to beg for a save. A sigh came from Melanie before she looked at him.
"We're trained assassins." Melanie said as Miltia looked at him with a nervous expression. He figured that would make sense. Not what he fully expected them to be criminals of but he figured they weren't prostitutes like Yang made them out to be
"Ok so that explains the training. Where did you get it from?" He asked, eying Melanie's face looking for any signs of her lying. He'd catch it if he could
"Lady Browning's Preparatory Academy For Girls. Well, before it got shut down thanks to a news reporter." She stated simply. "All three of us went there. Though we met Neo there and that's how she met her boss who works for Lil' Miss and now we work for him. Who works together with a club in Vale."
That was a lot to take in as he lifted his hand to his chin thinking. "This school was just a front for teaching assassins?" He asked, looking at her carefully.
"Yup. It was like totally boring though but at least we're bad asses now though." Miltia smiled, lifting up her arm proudly giving her fingers a wiggle. "Though we still need to get payback to that Blonde Bimbo. Trashed Junior's club and sexually assaulted the man among a lot of other bull crap."
He looked at her really concerned on how far she would go to get payback. "Well as long as you don't do anything that would get the team in trouble or suspended. Just try to beat her in a fight next time." He spoke before looking at Neo. She was typing on her scroll fast. A lot of text could be seen.
"So I suppose you all should hear about me then." He rolled Neo to the end of his bed as he stood up and began to unbutton his school shirt and then reached into his dresser and grabbed a normal t-shirt sliding it on. "Well no need to keep cooped up in here. Let's go for a walk after I get changed." He stated as his cravat came off and set on his dresser. He pulled out a pair of Jeans and then grumbled knowing he wouldn't get privacy. He slid the school trousers off and then quickly pulled his jeans on. Making sure to sip up his pants.
'PING'
A sound from his scroll as he looked at the long message Neo sent. It was enough for him to know that at least all three of their stories seemed to match up. Which made him smile. "At least you three are being honest." He looked at them.
"Yo- You're not gonna report us?" Miltia asked with a look of confusion.
"Do you think the SDC is free of committing crimes? Or that crime work is something I detest?" He asked, looking at them. "Sure it's not always pretty but typically you don't send three assassins after someone if they are a good person. Most are morally gray areas I presume." He said as he began fixing his hair.
"Besides, as long as you do not help with the robbery of SDC products and don't harm people that are innocent I won't get in your way. At that point it'd be pointless violence." He was satisfied with his hair. "Now towards other criminals that just means that it's just simple business." A smirk on his face as he opened the door. He couldn't approve of all crimes. "So while you are on my Team, ladies, you will not help with the selling of drugs, harming innocent people, or stealing from the SDC."
"Why?" Melanie was the one asking. "Drugs, innocent people sure I get. But why not the SDC?"
A scowl formed on his face. "For one it's my company. Father may not realize it yet but he's just holding onto it for me. I'd hate to have to adjust the criminal underworld when I'm in control of the SDC. Might get messy trying to stop robberies." He explained. "Plus who's to say you won't be working for or with me one day if you prove valuable." A smirk formed on his lips. "That would just hurt a long term investment." He stated simply as he waved for them to follow.
Miltia looked at him a bit stunned. Melanie gave a knowing smile. Neo had a smirk on her face as she skipped into a slow walk. The twins, walking and catching up. Eventually they reached the end of the hall towards the exit of the building walking outside into the night sky covered world.

Miltia expected many things when talking to Whitley about their criminal dealings. This was not one of them. He had a sense of purpose with those words he spoke. No freezing up, it was like he was dealing a business transaction with every word that came out. He was confident. As they were walking through Beacon's courtyard she could see his confidence waiver as he looked to the sky. She looked up as well.
"My father… married my mother for the SDC. There was no love…" Whitley spoke with a forlorn voice. A sadness coming from him. Showing a sense of vulnerability to the team. "... The children they had. My sisters and I… we were treated as future property for him to control and influence to do what he wanted." His hand came to a closed fist. She watched as his aura glowed and strained as his fingernails dug into his palms.
"He didn't love us. When Winter… left for the Military he got stricter on us. I told him I'd take the full burden of running the SDC and to let Weiss go and live her life." He looked at the three before he walked along the sidewalks over to a bench.
"I took that responsibility and in turn had to take around thirty classes every week, Maybe even more. Economics, social studies, foreign languages, dust sciences, machinery, technology, programming, business, business law, ethics, financial management…" the list of classes went on for a while. Mostly business related others were science and math related. "... and Marketing. The only fighting class was a self defense class, which is where I learned how to disarm fighters and had my aura unlocked."
"Damn… and I thought like school life at the Prep Academy was bad." Miltia felt sorry for the young heir looking at him. Neo just sat next to him, patting his back. Melanie didn't say anything, just turning away from the group.
"Still I had my own personal ambitions. Father wasn't realizing it but he wasn't educating a pawn…" A smile worn across his face. "... he was making an heir to the throne he didn't even properly own."
"So how are you gonna get your throne Whitley?" Melanie asked, still not looking at the group. Miltia wondered herself. How was he gonna get back what he believed to be rightfully his? Especially with him still in school.
"Hmm to be honest I could probably strip it from him any time. For now I'm focusing on a personal ambition of mine." He looked at Neo who was hugging him now. A red tint on his face forming that Miltia found herself giggling at. "Er- it's… helping people." He cleared his throat. "Not like how brutish huntsmen or brain dead clueless and manipulated soldiers. As a real hero. Though the title of Huntsman is one my grandfather wore proudly and I will as well once I show not all Huntsman are brutes." He said those words with purpose and it was clear he looked up to his grandfather.
"Alright then." Melanie began as she turned and faced the group. Miltia saw a strong desire in her twin's eyes. Like a goal had been laid out. "First thing's first then to get you closer to your goals then and we're gonna help." Melanie looked at her and then to Neo. "We need to get you involved in the criminal underworld." Melanie said with a stern look. Whitley looked flabbergasted.
"Sis, are you like sure?" Miltia asked a bit hesitant to rush the idea of him getting involved with their jobs.
"Well it's either we keep waiting till he's supposedly ready only for him to fail. Or we just jump into the deep end and he learns, adapts and overcomes." Her sister was quite firm with her words as she stared at the heir. "Think you can handle that?" A teasing look on her face. Miltia saw what she was doing and smiled as well.
"Heh, you think Whitley Schnee can't handle a few lowlifes and take over criminals at the flick of his wrist?" He challenged her back. A smile on the whole team's face. "I can handle any obstacles and make them problems for others. Just watch, Mel."
A blush formed on her sister's face and Neo snickered. Miltia just gave a smile that was curious. This was the first time Whitley had used a nickname. She was wondering when her sister and him had gotten so close.
"Well, like we got a job this weekend. Basic job of killing a small upstart gang trying to wedge themselves in on Junior's territory. Are you like up for it?" Miltia asked. Neo was already nodding her head yes for the Schnee boy.
"Seems my partner has already answered that for me. I should have my prototype weapon done and ready for field testing by then." He spoke standing up. Neo, forced to let go with a pout. "Ready to get a good night's rest ladies?" He asked, walking ahead full of confidence to the dorm building. The three girls looked amongst each other. Melanie still with a tinge of red on her face. "Let's go." The twins spoke at the same time as Neo just nodded a skip and a flip as they went to go and sleep.

Neo had just finished getting dressed in her pajamas as she saw Whitley finally climbing into his bed himself. On his scroll still with his stylus out as he sketched away on the blueprint she presumed would be his new weapon.
Neo grabbed her pillow from the bed she had yet to sleep a full night in and jumped into Whitley's bed snuggling up to him. A puzzled look on his face as she just stuck her tongue out at him. She could hear Melanie scoff and Miltia just go 'oooo'. She didn't care. This boy was interesting to her and she would make sure that she made life interesting every day with him.
"You know you have your own bed." He spoke looking back at his scroll. She took a look at the blueprint and saw a pair of gloves with discs that had spools of very thin wiring. The discs looked like they were meant to be launched somehow. "Guess that's a no to sleeping alone in my bed tonight." A sigh came from his mouth as he looked defeated. Neo just nodded with a smile on her face as she pulled out her own scroll and typed on it before showing it to him.
'Not as comfy when I have a living body pillow.' A smirk on her face as she snuggled close to him. He was warm. Her cheeks went flush.
"I'll be getting up early so if you don't want to be awoken by me I'd suggest not clinging to me too hard." He explained as he was flipping over to a new blue print. It looked like a scroll with multiple projected screens on it. Her face looked intrigued by the design. She just nodded to him and leaned over, turning off the bedside lamp. She grabbed his scroll and put it on the nightstand. "Neo… I wasn't done working yet." He stated with a glare. She just waggled her finger at him then put her hands together and under her head as if to say 'go to sleep'.
It was already one AM and they needed to get proper rest. They both needed it and the twins were already passed out.
"Fine…" A hushed whisper as he pulled the covers over himself and laid on his side back to her. A scoff came from her and she closed her eyes going off to the land of sleep.
[/]
Melanie was shook awake. Her eyes glaring at the culprit. A growl coming from her lips. "What. time. Is. It?" She grumbled at him. Once she was awake she was up. She didn't fall back asleep easily.
"Six AM. We need to work on our weapons before classes." He spoke with a whisper.
She grumbled as she didn't like not getting a full night's sleep and this was the second night in a row she didn't get it. She flipped up from her bed and noticed he was already dressed. She looked at him and then motioned for him to turn around as she walked towards her dresser. If she didn't get a show neither did he. She looked at the other two of their team that were still asleep with jealousy.
"We need to get these finished before the weekend." Whitley stated with his back towards her as she began to button up her school blouse before pulling out the blazer and putting it on. "So that way we can get practice with them before the job."
"I get that…" She grumbled. She still didn't like being up with little sleep. Just cause Whitley was a workaholic didn't mean she was or wanted to be. "... I'm going to bed at a decent time tonight."
"That's fine." He said as he waited for permission to turn around as she finished putting on her skirt and then began applying her make-up.
"I'm done getting dressed" Words came from her as her blue eyeshadow was applied. She was quick at applying it all since she had a certain style she upheld. Only fifteen minutes from the time she got dressed to the time she finished putting down her brush and putting her flower hair clip in. She stood up and turned to him waiting at the door.
"Ready to go Mel?" Whitley asked. Her face was blushing as she nodded her head. She didn't typically let people call her a nickname. Not even her sister. So it was odd she didn't get mad when he started using that one with her.
"Alright. Elegance and finesse." He stated as he walked out the door with her following as she grabbed her bladed combat heel boots.
Author's Note:
It's a short chapter but I hope I conveyed how the Team was feeling towards each other still mostly well. My biggest concern is how all three of them view Whitley and how he views each of them.
This chapter was hard on me to write which is why you didn't get it yesterday. I just want to say I'm flabbergasted with how much love and support this has gotten. I posted the cover image on r/fnki and it got 1k upvotes and still is growing. The fanfic itself has gathered almost 3k views and over 1k visitors now. Not to mention over 50 followers and 30 favorites. It really means a lot to me. I read every review you guys post and I'm trying to get better with the spacing on things so that way it's not hard to read.
Now to respond to some reviews.
Thank you to the guest who said that they liked Whitley's fighting style. I wanted to make sure I made him feel different from any other huntsman or huntress when he fights as Whitley is not a fighter in a conventional sense. He's not gonna hammer his problems or use most fighting solutions. He's an out of the box thinker. So I'm happy a lot of you like his style. Though I have to wonder who you all think his rival will be? Jaune? Weiss? Pyrrha? Yang? Ruby? So many options for his first rival for the first arc of the story.
DeadmanWalking I'm happy you are enjoying the story still and like what I'm gonna be doing with Whitley's weapon. The first prototype is gonna have the spool of wire act like a throwing disk that's attached to the glove that he can pull back. Though he's gonna find that to have issues and Nico will point out attaching the spool of wire to one glove and using his aura and semblance to manipulate it (aura manipulation is a thing after all for weapons. Look at the food fight. Those don't break cause they are using their aura to strengthen them and I have a feeling that aura manipulation is used with Blake's ribbon on her weapon.) So eventually one glove will have and hold the wires he uses. The other glove will be used to hold the dust that he uses and applies to the wires. Letting him make traps, set glyphs from a much further distance than his sisters. He'll be able to set up shop pull out a banjo and no one bother him as he commands his team on brilliant strategies.
EXCUBITORE - I do hope I fixed the sentence spacing this chapter. If you know of how I can improve on it please let me know so I can do better! Thank you 3
To everyone who came from reddit… Thank you so much again. As for the romance route for Whitley. I will be doing harem. I decided on that in chapter five due to how his chemistry with every girl on the team feels different enough to me that it works. But romance is a long ways away. It'll be mostly flirting/teasing but no one acting. At least for the majority of arc 1. Maybe in arc 2?
Side note this will be the only week of Beacon that I do one day equals a chapter. After the weekend of their first job I'll be going through the weeks and shifting focus on the important bits. I'll be labeling it as 'Week 2 thursday' whenever a chapter starts and will do that again in the chapter if it changes days in between. Etc.
I hope you all still enjoyed this story and I'll see you all with the next one 'soon™'
