Mira's POV:
This was impossible, I couldn't beat him at all. Jacob Lessio had attacked the guildhall when I was in the North, he had almost wiped out the whole guild there and took the Fairy Heart but Natsu had managed to beat him. He had his eyes closed trying to avoid looking at me and was still winning, he was an assassin and I fear I'm going to be the next person on his list of kills.
My body was aching from before, when Irene was torturing me. August tried to deal the final blow to me but I was saved by Brandish, I still wasn't sure why she had saved me. If it hadn't been for her I'd have been laying dead on the beach. Alas I might still end up dead, at the hands of the assassin.
I stepped backwards, I had used my Seliah form and it did almost nothing. He dodged everything I threw at him and he attacked at the worst possible moments. It seemed like he was toying with me, which didn't make sense. If he was an assassin, shouldn't he just be going for the kill? Why would he keep this battle up when he doesn't need to?
Jacob stepped forward calmly, his demeanor was unchanged and he was as cool as he was before the fight. He hadn't even broken a sweat. "Now my lovely, there is something I need from you before I send you on your way to the underworld" He spoke in a tranquil tone. He was facing towards me, his eyes still closed.
I looked towards him puzzled, I didn't know what he could possibly ask. Would it have been about the Fairy Heart? "And what would that be?" I muttered barely able to catch my breath, but glad I at least had some time to rest while we talked.
Jacob had an indiscernible look on his face, I couldn't even read his eyes or body language. Everything he did was so methodical and practical, he was an expert in assassinations so I guess it makes sense that he can keep a straight face.
"When we came to Ishgar, we had a clear and concise plan. I went through Bosco to attack Magnolia from the East, while the Vanguard secured the town. This should've been done easily, Ajeel could be rash but he is strong alongside Wall and Brandish. There was a hitch though, Aisha Alyamani. Aisha has been a member of the Twelve for a few years and has always been loyal to the Empire, doing whatever was asked of her. That was until now, why did she betray the Empire?"
I felt my hands shake, he didn't know anything. She had given information to them and came alongside them but he couldn't understand why this had happened. "Aisha knew this was a mistake, she said it herself. The Empire shouldn't be fighting us, they should've helped us fight Acnologia from the start." I tried to make it sound like that was the absolute truth but my voice cracked, I couldn't keep myself together when it came to her.
"That's not the only reason, is it? Aisha didn't want war and did state that she thought that we should help Ishgar fight Acnologia, but so did August yet he didn't side with our enemies. Be truthful darling, there's no use lying to me." He took another step forward and I almost jumped out of my skin, I was trying to stall him. In the hope that someone or something would swoop down and save me.
"She didn't want to fight the guild, she was accepted into Fairy Tail and she loved being here. She was at her happiest when she was here with us, with me." I looked at the assassin in horror as I realised what I had just said. I had said too much already.
"With you?" He let out a small smile and I felt chills rack my body, he knew too much now. "I see now, so she fell in love with you. That makes more sense, Aisha wouldn't have betrayed us because she thought this was a bad idea. She betrayed us because of you, if she hadn't fallen in love with you then she'd have come to Magnolia and buried it underneath a mountain of sand."
Was this really true? Aisha had a strong relationship with the Master and she had made friends in the guild. I doubt I was the only thing stopping her from fighting us. Aisha had flown into a rage whilst we were in the North. Whilst we were saving the mages, she fought the entire army by herself. It was horrifying, she let out her full power for the first time since I've known her. Her magic must've killed hundreds if not thousands in the North. When I finally made my way to the battlefield after encountering some of the Twelve I watched as she flew down by herself and fought them. I needed to speak to her, and to do that I needed to beat Jacob.
I raised my fist not saying a word before lunging towards Jacob, before he could dodge something unexplainable occurred. I felt a golden glow come over the battlefield and I, I felt bolstered by the glow and I watched as Jacob fell to his knees and I connected with a direct hit to his face sending him flying backwards.
I looked quickly to the enclave and I realised what had happened, the Master had used Fairy Law. He was too old to be doing this, that spell could have seriously hurt him. I just hope he was okay, he has sacrificed so much already for all of us.
I looked over at Jacob, and he was still struggling. The magic power that he possessed was still there, but he was damaged. Fairy Law could kill weaker mages but for stronger ones all it could do was weaken them but that might've been more than enough for me. Thank you Makarov, for everything.
I flew forward to him but this time he moved out of the way and connected with a bit below my chin which sent me into the air and he jumped up trying to catch me with another hit, I flew slightly out of his reach and hit him with a kick to his abdomen. It clearly affected him as I watched him cough up a dash of blood, before charging up an evil explosion and hit him in the chest.
He fell downwards and crashed into the ground with a thunderous bang, I charged up another attack and quickly summoned a demon blast and launched it towards him. A magnificent purple light emerged and struck downwards hitting Jacob, I prepared to go in with what I assumed was going to be the finishing blow. Before I had the chance however, I saw the same red light as before. It luminated the whole battlefield, I felt the ground shift beneath me.
In a matter of moments I found myself back in Magnolia, it looked untouched. It was the same as it was before the invasion had taken place, I could hear the faint sounds of fighting still happening around the city. I turned around and I couldn't find Jacob, he wasn't here. I was in the graveyard near the Cathedral, the same place where I visited every year to mourn the death of Lisanna. I walked around the plot aimlessly looking for anyone, but nothing.
I vaulted the fence and prepared to walk down the street but I heard a very quiet noise next to me and dodged, I watched as a fist appeared from behind me and I had somehow managed to dodge the first. I noticed the glove and saw it was still Jacob, he was here with me.
I used my Seliah form to fly into the air and formed an evil orb above the street, trying to make it big enough to the point where he couldn't dodge it. I launched it downwards and covered the whole street in a purple glow. It smashed into the street sending debris and rubble everywhere, I stayed up in the air trying to stay out of reach.
As the cloud of dust began to dissipate I couldn't see Jacob, I stayed in the air not wanting to risk going back down to the street. I scanned the crater for any sign of him and I couldn't see anything, he had completely disappeared for the second time. I felt the swooshing as something passed by me then I felt a massive crash onto my back, I came tumbling towards the street and hit it.
I looked up and watched as Jacob came down from above, and prepared to strike me in the head. I moved my head and brought an elbow to his ribs, before swinging my head forward and connecting with his jaw, sending him tumbling down the street. I quickly summoned a Satanic Blast which enveloped him as it detonated.
Jacob fell to the ground defeated, not having the strength to stand back up. I got to my feet gingerly and stretched, trying to shake off some of the pain. If it wasn't for the adrenaline in my body I would've been in a similar position to him. I walked towards him, stopping just before him. For the first time during our fight he opened his eyes once again and looked into mine. I could tell with his eyes that he was finally done. Jacob was defeated as was most of the Twelve.
"I didn't think you could win, that was arrogance on my part." Jacob coughed as he tried to speak, managing to turn onto his back looking up at me with an exhausted stare. His eyes are trying to look into mine to avoid looking at my semi-exposed body.
"Well I have won, and don't worry I'm not going to kill you. Where is Aisha now?" I looked down at him with almost pity, I didn't want to kill anyone here. I haven't killed anyone so far and I don't plan to now.
"I have no idea, since she managed to stop our tracking we have been chasing ghosts. She was in the North, that's where she fought Saadiya. Then on the battlefield here, she fought and killed Neinhart. Now I have no clue where she is." He coughed up more blood, wiping it off of his mouth with a gentle flick of the back of his wrist.
"It doesn't matter, I will find her." I turned to leave and heard a shout.
"Mira!" I looked ahead and saw as Elfman and Lisanna ran towards me, I dropped to my knees and cried. I opened my arms and hugged them both as they approached.
"Elfman! Lisanna! I'm so glad you're okay, where have you been?" I smiled towards them, my tears running down my cheek as I held onto them for dear life.
"We ran into one of the Twelve, Aisha's brother Ajeel. We fought him and we managed to beat him, he was beaten up badly by Fairy Law and the fight with Erza earlier." Elfman didn't smile as he spoke, he had a stern look on his face.
"I'm glad you're here talking to me now though, did you see Aisha anywhere? I need to find her." I smiled up at him but it slowly slipped away as I watched the colour drain from their faces.
"We did, after we beat Ajeel their Grandfather approached us. He begged us not to kill him but we weren't going to. Then Aisha appeared but.." Lisanna trailed off, looking at me not wanting to finish her sentence.
"But what?!" I felt the tears flow more than before, I couldn't lose her for a second time. I don't care if she betrayed us once, what she has done has more than made up for it.
"She is badly injured, she's bleeding badly and has lost an eye. She told us to find you and she went with her family to find someone to help her. They were heading towards the lake." Lisanna swallowed the lump in her throat and I saw the welling of tears in her eyes.
"We need to find them, now!" I stood up, and began to run towards the lakefront. I just hope that there is someone there that can save her. I will do anything to save her now.
