Chapter 1: He Isn't Just Unlucky

Adam never really thought about luck. It was all too far-fetched to be something for him to take into consideration on a daily basis, unless he had to rely on RNG in a game of some sort. But even then, usually the thing he needed or was doing was statistically possible, and in the end, either it happened or it didn't.

For the first time in his life however, he felt like he was just unlucky. If there was another word that describes having the worst luck possible he would use it. Because that… is how he currently felt.

Is this really the only uniform they have?

Here he was, standing in a stranger's house, in a stranger's room, about to wear a stranger's maid uniform and skirt. It was apparently the only uniform they had in his size, and he was required to wear it.

"We had tried to prepare for your arrival, but upon it being such short notice, this is the only uniform we had left that was the size given to us by Chief Hogan. Unfortunately we won't be getting any more for another month."

A month?!

The Lycanroc stared down at the mini skirt and frilly top. He had gone along with everything until now, because he had no choice. At this point, however, he couldn't help but contemplate how he ended up here.

It all started a few weeks ago. Adam Stonehide, the midnight Lycanroc, was living a peaceful life. He was dating a Boltund named Ethan Bolter, he worked at the front desk at his gym, and went to school at the local university. He couldn't be happier.

At least he would've said that if he hadn't begun to be suspicious of his boyfriend.

He and Ethan had decided part way through their relationship that they'd go half on renting an apartment rather than staying in the dorms of Mauville Campus the next semester. It was a good way to save money since the dorms and accommodations were very expensive, and they had more control over their space in a place of their own.

Adam had no reason not to trust Ethan, he lived a life like he did, he worked a full time job during the day, and took night classes at their college.

But that semester, an acquaintance of theirs had decided to switch to night classes so she could work as well. Not many people took the night classes, so they held them all in the same building on campus during the same times. And she apparently never saw Ethan anywhere in the building.

She had even looked for him specifically, at Adam's request, but didn't see hide nor hair of him on any of the days he claimed to be going to the night classes.

This was when Adam had begun to worry. It could mean anything after all. Was he cheating on him? Did he live a secret second life? Where could he possibly be going if he wasn't attending his night classes? Whatever it was, he had to know why his boyfriend was leaving at night.

One day, he decided to follow him. Adam was usually winding down after his own classes or work when Ethan left at night. That day, he told Ethan that he was asked to cover an evening shift at work, and wouldn't be getting home until Ethan was already gone.

But really he had planned to wait in his car, hidden by their apartment complex, until Ethan left. He was going to follow him and finally see what was going on.

Once the Boltund left their room, he began his pursuit. After he exited the complex, he waited for a while, until another car pulled up. He watched as Ethan got in the dark car, and carefully started his engine as they pulled off. He had to be cautious.

He followed them from a distance with his lights off, driving through the residential areas of Mauville City until the car he was following stopped. He watched Ethan get out, and start walking, and he did the same, avoiding getting the attention of the driver of the black car, who had kept driving. He followed Ethan easily, his superior night vision making it easy to keep tabs on the Boltund, even from far away.

Adam kept a safe distance, stealthily following for about 15 minutes as Ethan jumped fences and snuck through yards. Finally, they reached a house he'd never seen before, and he followed Ethan into the backyard. Adam felt his heart sink a little.

Whose house is this? Could he really be cheating on me? Or worse?

Adam followed him into the backyard, fully ready to confront his boyfriend. Even if he was completely wrong about everything, he at least wanted to know why he lied to him about taking night classes. When he reached the backyard, he found Ethan fidgeting with the lock on a basement window. He stays in the path to the backyard and whispers.

"Ethan? Ethan, that's you isn't it?"

The Boltund nearly falls over, and stays crouched. He whispers back, clearly shocked.

"Adam?! What are you doing here?"

Adam clenches his chest, which had begun to feel heavy at the sight.

"I followed you. Is this what you've been doing this entire time? Sneaking around and lying to me?"

Ethan stood up, and put his paws out in an attempt to calm the distressed Lycanroc. He looked up, having taken notice of the red and blue lights that had appeared above the house they were behind.

"Adam lower your voice…We need to-"

Their conversation was cut short by a bright light shining onto Adam, who was standing alone on the path to the backyard. Both of their pupils shrunk, and Ethan sunk into the shadows.

"There he is! He's the one who's been lurking through this neighborhood at night for the last few days!"

The police officer holding the flashlight stepped forward.

"You're under arrest under suspicion of burglary! Get down!"

Adam backed away, holding up his paws in defense.

"What? No! I-"

"Detain him immediately!"

Another officer, a Breloom, jumped forward and used Spore, making Adam become uncontrollably drowsy. As he sank to the ground, he looked off to the side, only to see Ethan, the person he was meant to love and trust, jumping a fence and getting away, unseen by everyone but himself.

His heart filled with regret as he fell into a deep slumber.

When he awoke, he was wearing inhibitor handcuffs to stop him from using Pokemon moves and was muzzled so he couldn't bare his fangs. The officers walked by, ignoring him completely. He shuffled over to the bars of his cell and tried calling to them as they walked by, but the muzzle made it so he could only let out whimpers and cries, which again, they ignored.

He started to cry and gave up hope, finally resting against the wall behind him.

How am I supposed to convince them I'm innocent when they won't even let me speak?

He decided to lie there in silence. He had no idea how long he stayed there, and had kept to himself. He wanted to keep a level head and not make any more trouble for himself before his trial. Surely there'd be one right? There's always supposed to be one… right?

As he laid there, suddenly convinced that everything would work out for him, a new pair of officers walked by his cell. A Glaceon in a trench coat, and a Persian wearing the usual police uniform. He sat back up as the Glaceon approached his cell.

"Duper, why's this one so bound? Usually it takes a lot for you guys to break out the inhibitor cuffs and the muzzle for the same felon. What's the story?"

Officer Duper adjusted his hat and pointed at Adam, who had made eye contact with the Glaceon. He fixed his glasses as he mentally questioned him.

"Well this one's a special case Detective. Name's Adam Stonehide, he's the one we caught a few days ago, and is the one who'd been behind the string of robberies and burglaries, and one murder, that we've been trying to catch for years now."

Upon hearing murder, Adam's heart stopped. There's no way Ethan actually killed someone. If those were his circumstances he could be in a lot more trouble than he thought.

"I see. When's the trial?"

The Persian shook his head.

"No trial date set. He's going straight to Hoenn Prison until further notice."

The Glaceon gives the officer a grim look, and Adam's heart rate suddenly picks up. His situation was much worse than he thought, and he pressed his forehead against the bars, trying to prevent the tears from falling from his face.

"What?! Why?"

The tan feline looked away from Adam.

"We already conducted an investigation while you were out of town. Found loads of evidence. Stolen goods, money, a loaded firearm, lockpicking tools, etc. We also gathered testimonials from his neighbors who said he often leaves at night in hooded dark clothing, and that he always has an attitude when speaking to them and has been generally unpleasant when they interacted with him."

Adam felt tears start to fall from his face, unable to stop them. Who was this person he'd been dating for the past year or so? He thought Ethan was sweet and wonderful, only to learn that it was all a facade, not one that involved him cheating, but one of crime and being horrible to their neighbors. And now he's paying the price for it.

The Glaceon crossed his arms.

"That doesn't sound like much of an investigation. What does Chief Hogan have to say about it?"

Officer Duper starts to walk away.

"As far as he's concerned the case is closed. I suggest you talk to him about it."

The Detective approaches the sobbing Lycanroc, feeling as though something was off. No trial? The suspect is crying? He wouldn't be able to sleep at night if he didn't investigate himself and find out the truth. He kneels down in front of the cell of the distressed prisoner, and hands him a cloth.

"Listen, I don't think I can do anything to get you out of here, but they can't take you to Hoenn Prison for another few days. I'll do what I can while you're here, but after that, all I can ask you to do is hang on tight. Okay?"

Adam nods and takes the cloth to wipe his face.

"Just be careful, I promise I'm gonna look further into this. My name's Detective Vega, Victor Vega. It's nice to meet you Adam."

Adam tries to say thank you but can only mumble because of the muzzle.

"I'll see if they can at least take that muzzle off of you."

Adam tears up once more, and grips the bars, feeling hopeful again since he woke up. He only nods and watches as the Detective walks away.

Victor couldn't bring himself to believe that someone like that had committed a string of burglaries and a murder. When they made eye contact, he felt as though the Lycanroc was innocent. As a detective, he had to trust his instincts. And in that moment, his instincts wanted to help someone in need, alongside catching the true criminal.

He didn't want to leave the Lycan in that cell, but he had to. He had a job to do.

(A few days later)

It was the day that all the prisoners in Mauville local jail would be transported to Hoenn Prison, and Adam would be there serving his sentence. He didn't know how long it would be, and assumed it wouldn't be a light one since the crime "he" committed was a 2 year long string of burglaries, armed robbery, and a murder.

He had been hopeful because of Detective Vega, but he had no idea what he was in for. He'd never even imagined he'd be sent to prison, how would he survive there?

He was completely anxious, thinking about when they would leave. He wasn't sure exactly what time it was, but he knew it was sometime in the afternoon, unless his sleep schedule changed at some point in the last few days.

He was too busy thinking to notice that the police officer from a few days ago, Officer Duper, had come and opened his cell.

"Follow me Stonehide. Keep a level head and things will go smoothly for you."

Adam did as he was told, assuming that they were finally transporting him and the other inmates to the Hoenn Prison. His shoulders slumped and he couldn't help but drag his feet as they walked.

But as they moved along, he noticed something peculiar. The other inmates weren't being taken out of their cells alongside him. Surely they wouldn't be taking them out one at a time right?

He is led to a room with nothing but a double sided mirror and a table in it.

"Sit there, and wait one moment."

Adam sits still and watches as the officer walks out, leaving him alone in the room. He's seen rooms like this before. This is where suspects are interrogated on camera.

His ears perked up at the thought. Is he finally getting a real questioning? Are they ready to hear his side of the story? He couldn't take the anticipation. Not only was he ready to tell them everything he knew, he was ready to lay into them for conducting his arrest in this manner. They didn't let him speak, and he was fed by an automated system that only opened up his muzzle enough to let him take in the food, it was very uncomfortable. Not to mention when he had to use the restroom.

Suddenly the door flung open. A Swampert in a police uniform and an Articuno in a suit walk in, and they both take their seats across from him. The Swampert speaks up first.

"Hmph. Stonehide. I've read your file, and I can say that we've spent a long time trying to catch you. Normally I'd be happy to ship someone like you straight to prison, but I suppose this is your lucky day. This is Warden Vardenfell, the warden of Hoenn Prison."

The Articuno nods.

"Adam Stonehide. After the stories I heard about you, and how difficult you were to finally detain, I had to meet you myself. I must say, you aren't what I expected. There's almost an air of naivety to you, that doesn't fit the description of the ruthless and calculating Pokemon I was given. Regardless, I suppose it's your lucky day. I came here to oversee the transport of new inmates to my prison. And I will, but I must deal with your case first."

Adam tilts his head to the side. Is his situation really about to get worse? Surely not.

"What do I mean? Well, I'll be frank. Your outstanding bail of two hundred thousand was paid in full yesterday. Alongside that, came a certain request. The son of an associate of mine asked me to let you serve community service by working under him."

Vardenfell stands, and begins to circle the table, glaring as she eyes the astounded Lycan.

"Seeing as his father is the one who owns the company that manufactures our inhibitor handcuffs, and several other utilities, it's in our best interest to maintain a close relationship with him. You understand? You will go and be put to work for him. You will be on your best behavior. If you step even a single hair out of line, you'll be sent right to Hoenn prison. All he needs to do is make the call. Have I made myself clear?"

Adam nods eagerly. Not only was he not going to prison, but he only had to work for some rich guy? He could more than handle that.

Vardenfell walks back toward the door.

"I'm going to oversee prison transport. He's in your hands now Hogan."

Vardenfell exits, and Hogan walks over to Adam, and stands him up.

"Come on. He asked that we bring you over immediately."

What? Right now? I mean…alright?

The two of them exit the room, and Adam is elated. He would be more than happy to put in some work in exchange for not going to prison. He had worked many hard jobs as a kid. Despite only being 21, he'd already worked 2 different jobs since he was 15. Putting up with some spoiled rich guy would be easy, especially if it meant he didn't need to be living in a cell for the next however long.

During the ride there, Chief Hogan explained that Adam would be working as a live-in servant for someone named Seth Zenabrin, son of Clark Zenabrin, who owned the business that manufactured inhibitor cuffs, and other power restricting utilities and accessories. They sold them to police and security guards, alongside other jobs that needed them. He later learned that it was strictly meant for defensive measures and is meant to help and/or restrain those who have potentially dangerous or cataclysmic abilities. They could either be held safely in a government facility, or live a normal life without being a danger to others. Any signs of abuse using their product was met with a cut off. They're a legitimate business. And Adam had absolutely zero idea of who they were.

"And if you do anything to mess this up, Warden Vardenfell is probably gonna make your life hell in Hoenn Prison. Take it from me, you don't wanna get on that woman's bad side."

They reached a large manor on the outskirts of Mauville City. Adam couldn't believe he'd never seen it before, it wasn't too far from the city itself after all.

The manor was down a solitary road that led into dense forest, you wouldn't even be able to tell it was there if there wasn't a large gate that closed it off from the street.

As they pulled into the driveway, Adam stared at the manor in awe. He'd never even seen one before, and now he was going to be living there for….for…

Wait, how long did they say I had to work here?

Adam didn't have time to think about it before Chief Hogan yanked him out of the car. Together they walked to the front door, and the large Swampert rang the doorbell.

Moments later, a Drifblim with a monocle opened the door.

"Chief Hogan, welcome. This must be Mr. Stonehide. Please come in. Master Seth is waiting."

He steps aside and Adam enters. Chief Hogan, however, stays outside.

"Actually, I was only meant to drop him off. I have to hurry back to make sure the prison transfer happens smoothly. You can take it from here Klaus."

Klaus nods silently before closing the door. He turns to face Adam with glowing red eyes.

"Perfect. Now we can get down to business."

(A few moments later)

Adam wasn't one to let his nerves get the better of him. He had never had stage fright, and he wasn't easily scared. Even when this Drifblim dragged him to a room in the servant's quarters, he wasn't very afraid. But he had no idea what he was in for.

In fact, the first thing the Blimp Pokemon did was remove his handcuffs and muzzle. Yes, he was muzzled that entire time. Klaus, who was apparently the Head Servant, removed them the instant they arrived in the room. It made him feel much better, and he relaxed a little. He was also told to take a shower.

Adam hadn't had a shower in days at that point. He could tell he wasn't the freshest, so he was more than happy to accept.

When he was done, he dried himself off and threw on the t-shirt and shorts that were left for him to wear momentarily. Klaus returned in a few moments to check on him.

"Have you finished?"

Adam nodded and answered quickly.

"Yeah! You can come in!"

Klaus floats in and takes Adam's towel.

"I take it you enjoyed that?"

Adam nods once more.

"Yep! I haven't had a shower in what feels like forever."

Klaus chuckled and floated over to the wardrobe.

"Wonderful! Allow me to just grab your uniform really quickly."

Adam smiled, feeling slightly content for the first time after everything that's happened to him recently.

They're being so hospitable… A nice room, they already took off my handcuffs, I got to shower. It's a little strange considering I'm a criminal in their eyes but…I think I might even enjoy it here.

Adam had kept that train of thought…until the Drifblim reached into his wardrobe and pulled out a frilly maid dress.

Yeah that makes sense.

"We had tried to prepare for your arrival, but upon it being such short notice, this is the only uniform we had left that was the size given to us by Chief Hogan. Unfortunately we won't be getting any more for another month."

And here he was. Those are all the events leading up to this moment. While not exactly the most ideal, surely you see why this maid uniform is the unlucky icing on the "Worst case scenario" cake.

Adam's eye twitched. There was no chance they expected him to wear that. But when Klaus floated closer with a serious demeanor, Adam knew he was in for an interesting time.

By this point I bet you're wondering- Adam, why aren't you kicking and screaming and fighting about being innocent? You don't deserve any of this! You should tell them the truth! If I didn't have some semblance of hope that the truth would be revealed, I would have, but I know I'm innocent. I know the truth will be discovered one day, and I won't make any more problems for myself until that happens. Better safe than sorry.

After his uniform was on, the Lycanroc stood in front of the long mirror in the wardrobe to examine himself. Not only had the Drifblim styled his hair a little, he also inspected the uniform for dust and stray hairs. If Adam had seen himself for the first time, even he would've thought he was a girl.

"Now then. Are you ready to meet Master Seth? I'm sure he's grown impatient by now."

Adam gulped. At first he thought these people might be nice, but what kind of person only has one uniform ready?

I thought these kinds of things only happened on television or in fanfiction! Why are the rich ones always crazy?

Klaus leads Adam through the house and into the backyard. Despite being embarrassed about being in a maid dress, he momentarily put that aside to gaze in awe upon their outstanding backyard.

There were hedges surrounding the right side area, with a large flower garden residing inside it. To top it all off, a fountain was placed perfectly in the center of it all. On the left, behind the hedges, were many activity areas. A pool, a tennis court, what looked to be a miniature golf course, and a few others.

If I wasn't here to work I'd be excited to try this stuff. Most people can only dream of living in a place like this…

The pair walked toward the center of the flower garden, where a red and white Zoroark in a black suit was waiting for them. He perked up when he saw them, and eyed Adam carefully.

"You must be Adam. My name is Seth Zenabrin, the owner of this manor. Over the next 10 years, you'll be working here as my servant. I'll start by apologizing for the lack of male uniforms at the moment. Those are all we have. But from the looks of it, it fits you perfectly. So there should be no complaints."

Adam only smiles and nods, keeping his polite posture while the Zoroark continues.

Could've just let me wear normal clothes until they got some…but I won't press on about it. And wait…did he say 10 years?

"Great. Now then, since it's your first day, all I'm going to have Klaus do is give you a tour of the grounds. I don't have many rules, and either myself or Klaus will usually tell you what needs to be done as the day begins. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be served at 8 am, 1 pm, and 7 pm respectively. Howie, the chef will ring the bell around those times to let us know when the meals are ready. If you wish for anything in between those times just let him know. Speaking of, have you eaten today?"

Adam shakes his head, he hadn't thought about it, and still doesn't even know what time it is.

"Er, no. But I'm not hungr- *grumble*".

Seth raises a brow, and Adam looks down shyly.

"I see. Klaus, have Howie make him a light meal. Dinner isn't for another few hours. Afterwards, give him the tour. That's all I have to say for now. You may leave."

He turns around, and Klaus puts an arm on his shoulder, and the two begin walking back into the house.

"Is there anything you'd like to eat?"

Adam shakes his head once more, and follows the Drifblim inside.

"I'm not sure. I haven't had anything except gross sandwiches and water the last few days. Something small would be nice, like um…Mr. Seth…said."

Klaus leads Adam down the hall, and they reach the dining room. There's a large table with several chairs, placed by it. Adam wonders how often the table is actually full of guests. Klaus pulls a seat out.

"Have a seat, I'll have Howard whip you something up."

Adam looks at the chair in confusion.

"Really? Here?"

Klaus shares his confusion, then looks at the chair before looking back at Adam.

"Er, where else would one eat meals?"

Adam points to himself.

"But…I'm a servant- Do servants normally eat at the Master's table?"

Klaus chuckles and floats around Adam before nudging him into the seat.

"Nonsense. During meal time you may choose to eat alone in your room, or at the table. There is no dedicated place of eating just for servants. Now please, relax. I will return shortly."

He floats into the kitchen, leaving Adam alone at the table. He found himself able to breathe once more. His new boss seems somewhat stiff and serious, but he still went out of his way to extend his hospitality.

He isn't sure what to make of this place yet, but seeing as it's only his first day, he decides not to make any assumptions. He couldn't help but wonder what kind of tasks he'll be given. This is his community service, he had no doubt he'd be given more difficult jobs.

But he would do his best to endure it. Detective Vega surely started his investigation already. He would be out of here in no time.

Moments later, a Sneasel enters the dining room, with Klaus following. Klaus floats behind Adam, and adjusts his monocle.

"Once you finish eating, I'll give you a tour of the grounds as I was instructed."

Howie puts a platter on the table in front of Adam, and removes the top to reveal the most extravagant looking burger he'd ever seen.

"Here you are, a mini salisbury burger and a side of fries. You're the new guy right? Call me Howie. I don't care what you've done, long as you stay out of my kitchen we'll get along just fine. Enjoy your meal."

Howie goes back into the kitchen, leaving the Lycan alone. Adam felt himself drool a little at the sight of it. He hadn't really been in the mood to eat, but having such a delectable looking meal in front of him turned his hunger up to ten, and he eagerly took the first bite.

It was so delicious, he almost felt like crying. He hadn't eaten anything but scraps and bread in the last week or so, and he had barely adjusted to still being hungry after eating.

He savored every bite of his meal, even the perfectly crisp fries. Once he was finished, he met Klaus in the hallway again. They began walking to the foyer.

"Perfect. Let us begin. First is the foyer, which you've seen before. Those stairs lead to the second floor where-"

He was interrupted by a knock at the door.

"Hm. One moment please."

The Drifblim floated over to the front door, and opened it to reveal Detective Vega. Klaus adjusted his monocle.

"Hello. May I help you?"

Victor shows him his badge.

"Hi, yes, I'm Detective Vega of the Mauville Police Department. I had been informed that Adam Stonehide was here? I wanted to ask him some que-"

Having looked past the Blimp Pokemon, he made eye contact with Adam who, in case this was forgotten, was still wearing the frilly maid uniform. Victor turned visibly red, and Klaus moved aside.

"Yes of course. He's right here. I'll give you two a moment."

Adam kept his face down, completely embarrassed

You cannot be fucking serious.

Victor pulled a card out of his coat pocket and handed it to him.

"Er… I see you're settling in. Um… here's my card. It has my number so we can keep in touch. If you need to call me that is… um… this wasn't my doing… I was busy getting the go ahead from the Chief to investigate your case further, but he was preoccupied helping organize the prison transfer this morning. I should be able to get a word in with him after they finish today. But umm… at least you're not joining them right? Er- sorry."

Adam was utterly and horribly exasperated. He was grateful for the Detective offering to help him, but why did their first time actually meeting and being able to speak without him being muzzled have to be soiled by them not even wanting to make eye contact with each other? He took the card and put it in his pocket.

"Th-thank you Detective. I'm not sure how I'll be able to reach you, since I never got my phone back, but I'll see if they have one I could use."

The Glaceon nods silently, and leaves quickly. He isn't sure why, but he suddenly felt as though he should work much more swiftly.

Adam closes the door in a hurry. He was fine putting on the maid outfit before because as it turns out, no one would see him besides Mr. Seth, Howie and Klaus. But the fact that his first real interaction with Detective Vega was…what it just was, left him mortified.

Klaus floated over and pushed the shocked Lycan along. He could hear a slight chuckle as he spoke.

"Let's continue the tour, shall we?"

Adam had to admit that the manor was impressive. He hadn't seen much of it when he arrived, but getting an in-depth tour made him completely forget his encounter with the detective. On the first floor was the kitchen, the dining room, the living room with a 90 inch flat screen television, a room that had a pool table in it, the servants quarters, which took up a majority of the floor, and the doors that led to the backyard.

In the backyard, aside from what he'd seen already, was a lotus pond, with lotuses gifted straight from the family of Ludicolo who owned the land before Seth's father purchased it, a gazebo that was right next to the golf course, and a garden shed that was somewhat hidden in the hedge garden.

On the second floor was Mr. Seth's room, which was gigantic, the balcony that overlooked the backyard garden, a study, a library, and finally…

"Your room."

Klaus opened the door at the end of the hall to reveal a fairly large room, though not as large as Seth's, with a queen size bed, and a desk. This was the peak of Adam's confusion.

"Wait what? My room? I thought I was staying in the servant's quarters?"

Klaus shakes his head, and softly nudges Adam inside.

"No. Initially this was the guest room, but Master Seth had arranged for you to stay in here shortly after he paid your bail."

Adam couldn't take anymore.

"Sorry to be so frank but what is going on?"

Klaus slowly blinked in confusion.

"What do you mean?"

Adam ran his paws through his hair in frustration.

"I don't get you guys at all! You're being weirdly hospitable for having basically bought a prisoner. On top of that how could you possibly only have a female uniform left? And don't think I didn't notice that we're the only ones here! Please Klaus, I just need to know why I'm here and what's going on."

Klaus merely looks to the side.

"I see. My apologies."

He takes off his monocle and cleans it while floating past Adam.

"While I myself cannot say why Master Seth has paid your bail and asked for your service in exchange, he did not "buy" you. Your services here are required by law, though you are permitted to submit yourself back to prison if you so wish. Just as he can send you back if he so wishes."

Adam gulped, hoping he didn't speak too far out of turn.

"As for why it's so empty here, well you see

Master Seth has a personality trait that most new employees have found unbearable, which made them quit shortly after being hired. And that would be-"

"Knock knock."

Adam quickly turned to see Seth standing in the doorway.

"I see you guys finished the tour. Did you enjoy it? How do you like your new room?"

Adam stood straight and nodded politely. He really hoped his new employer didn't hear his little outburst.

"U-um yes. It's very nice, thank you for letting me use it."

The Zoroark smirked as he sat on the bed behind him.

"No problem! Have you checked out your wardrobe? It really ties the room together. You oughta have a peek inside."

Adam grew more nervous by the moment, and slowly inched closer to the wardrobe.

"A-alright."

What was Klaus going to say? What's his horrible personality trait that made everyone leave? This is it isn't it? I'm gonna find a corpse or something here, and then I'm gonna be next! Oh no oh no oh no oh-

But upon opening the wardrobe he didn't find a corpse. Or anything scary or horrendous. If anything, it just made the Lycanroc extremely frustrated. He pulled out the garment, and stared at it. Inside were several male servant uniforms exactly his size. They consisted of a black vest, white button up shirts, and black pants. Adam turned around, completely stone faced. Klaus floated over and whispered in his ear.

"He's an insatiable prankster."

Seth burst out laughing and nearly fell off of the bed.

"I told you his reaction would be priceless Klaus! I told you! Hahahaha!"

Klaus nodded in agreement.

"Yes sir, you did."

Adam's ears drooped as he stared at the uniform. Seth got up and hooked an arm around his shoulders.

"I got you! You really thought we'd only have one uniform? Ha! Man if you could see the look on your face! I bet you even thought I was some pompous douchebag! Hahaha!"

Adam was speechless. He couldn't even speak as the Zoroark laughed so hard he cried, and only continued to stare down at the black suit in his paws.

What the hell have I gotten myself into… 10 years? 10 years of this? You gotta be kidding…

(End Chapter)
