Rose Long sat in a quiet corner of Central Park. Everyone knew finding a quiet spot in the Park was next to impossible. Yet she'd found a small area by some hook or crook without anyone else. The beautiful blond young woman reached into her new colorful backpack to get her latest book out to read. She hadn't opened it yet when her long-sought-out peace was shattered.
She turned to see a middle-aged lady approach her. Instantly, Rose started to tense up. The lady then asked the question Rose had been dreading. The lady asked if she was her twin sister, Lily. Rose hated how many times people asked if she was her twin. She'd gone out of her way to make herself look as different then her as possible. The young actress also hated how thousands of people still couldn't remember twins weren't the same person. But each an individual!
As expected, the lady, who called herself Kelly, explained she used to live in the same building as Lily. Whenever she tried to be friendly and say hello to Lily, she rudely ignored her and did not even say hi back. She also recounted how she'd witnessed Rose's twin storming out of her apartment several times to verbally abuse mothers and their children about being unable to hear her TV.
Rose cringed at having to hear of her twin's abusive actions again. Rose again explained how she and her sister weren't the same people and that Rose wasn't like that. Both she and Kelly agreed that everyone could misbehave at times. But it's not an excuse to do it repeatedly. The fact Lily never learned or accepted her actions were abusive always bothered Rose, which is why she'd gone no contact with her twin. She didn't even allow Lily to see her children. Rose and her husband Jake didn't want either Julia or Carter near someone so abusive and toxic.
Kelly and Rose chatted more with Kelly, thanking her for the conversation. She even said she could see Rose wasn't like her sister. Feeling better, the two women said goodbye. Rose stayed at the park to read until she couldn't take the heat. Then, she headed home feeling relieved that she wasn't the only one who saw her twin as abusive.
