"Well, are you girls excited for your first day at Lawndale High?" asked a woman as she sat with her family eating breakfast.

"I can't wait, I heard there's a fashion club so I want to join them," said a brunette teen girl wearing a pink shirt with a yellow smiley face and blue jeans.

"That's great Quinn, and what about you, Daria?" asked the husband.

"It's just another day at a prison for kids," said Daria, who was a brunette wearing thick black frame glasses, a green jacket over an orange shirt, black skirt, and military style boots.

"What is there to look forward to?" she asked while standing.

"How about making new friends?" asked her mother.

"That's just a waste of time and energy," said Daria before grabbing her bag and leaving the house.

"She'll never be popular with an attitude like that," said Quinn.

"How did we raise two kids who are so different?" asked the mother. Her husband just shrugged and went back to eating. Meanwhile, Daria was walking to school while reading a book.

"Can't believe they actually expect me to be happy, how did I get such a crazy family?" asked Daria.

"Hey watch out!" called someone who pulled on Daria's hood, stopping her from hitting a light pole.

"Sorry about that, I just didn't want you walking into the pole," said the voice which belonged to a girl with black hair wearing a black shirt with a white v-shaped neck, red jacket, gray shorts over black stockings and military boots.

"Well I have to thank you for that at least, name's Daria Morgendorffer," said Dari.

"Jane Lane," said Jane.

"So, is today your first at Lawndale, I don't remember seeing you in the halls before," she said.

"Yeah, is it going to be as bad as I think it is?" asked Daria while the two began to walk toward the bus stop.

"Probably worse, Lawndale does not take it easy on kids who are different from the stereotypical normal," said Jane.

"Great," said Daria with an eye roll.
