(A/N) : I don't own Avatar
"Fire Lord Ozai, you and your forefathers have devastated the balance of this world, and now you shall pay the ultimate price!"
Aang, under control of his past lives, combines all four elements together for his final attack, he thought he could control himself, his anger towards the firelord, what the firenation did to his people, what they did to the watertribes, what they did to the earth kingdom, they upset the balance of the world, that's something that cannot be forgiven, says the former avatars, and so Aang had no choice but to abide their collective decision.
The attack collided with its destination and so it was all over. Firelord Ozai was no more.
Aang jolted awake from his nightmare, he had a sense of slight relief and hope that it might have only been a nightmare, but a couple of seconds later, memories came rushing back to his head, he did indeed finish off Firelord Ozai, and at this particular moment, he was on a ship back to the firenation capital, the sense of devastation came back to him, tears came pouring out of his tired eyes, as he was sleeping in a cabin, and the corpse of the dead firelord was in the cabin next to him, he knows so as he carried it there himself to present it to Zuko and the rest of the firenation, and with that he would announce that the hundred year war is finally over.
The airship finally made it to the firenation, and Aang was met with the intense hug of Katara.
"I was so worried!" Katara said, as she held the young avatar tight, but Aang couldn't return the hug, it was the sense of guilt that weighed over his tired shoulders, he couldn't move his arms up to return Katara's hug, The waterbender was surprised by this, she broke the hug and looked at him, only to see his lifeless eyes fixated on the road ahead.
Zuko noticed it too, "What's wrong, Aang?" He asked.
Aang broke out of his daze and looked at the new firelord, "I did what you asked of me." Aang answered, as he looked at both Zuko and Katara.
Zuko's expression changed to that of shock, he knew exactly what Aang was talking about, "You killed him?"
At this, the young avatar almost broke to tears, but he held himself tight and spared them another look, "I hope that makes you happy."
Zuko looked at him with eyes that pitied him, he knew how hard it was for the airbender, "I told you before, Aang. I'm never happy."
Aang wanted to lash out at them, nothing was on his mind at the moment but their conversation on Ember Island.
But instead, he just chose to speak calmly, "Soon, you'll understand why it would have been better to have left your father alive." The Avatar said, and without looking at either Zuko nor Katara, he just walked ahead.
"Where are you going?" Katara asked.
Aang looked at her, the pain in his eyes made Katara's eyes water, "I'm going to have some rest. I think I deserve it." Aang responded.
"Don't you need some medical attention?" The waterbender asked.
"No. Perhaps Tomorrow, after I have some rest. But thanks anyways." Aang responded and proceeded to walk away.
"Okay.." Katara merely responded before he walked away.
The waterbender knew exactly what he was thinking about, she just couldn't believe that Aang would think something like that, his words indicate that he blames them for his decision to finish off Firelord Ozai, he blames their lack of support, Katara looked at Zuko to find him doing the same, apparently they were thinking the same thing.
They just looked at the departing airbender with eyes that were filled with guilt.
The next morning, Katara came to Aang's room to have their planned healing session, only to find no one in his room and a letter on the bed.
Katara's heart was crushed as soon as she read the letter.
The Avatar has run away once more.
Two years later
The Firenation Capital
The back ally looked as if it were haunted, the darkness made it even more unpleasant and the smell, God it smells like rotten dead cat-owls.
Shun pinched his nose to block the smell, but to no avail.
"Do we really need to meet here? I feel like we could have met him in a pub." Shun voiced out to his partner and master beside him who seemed unbothered at all.
"We can't meet in a pub, it's too risky." His master replied.
"But, Master Ukano… This place, and this fuckin' smell! if he lives here then that guy isn't normal, why would we ask help from such a guy?" Shun asked with concern, Master Ukano halted the march and so Shun stopped walking.
Master Ukano turned to Shun and said, "We are asking help from such a guy because this particular mission requires someone that is not normal... he is going to murder the most traitorous person in our city, a guy that's been a pain in our asses for two years, who helped that coward of an avatar murder our beloved Firelord, not only that, but he's going to free the true successor to Firelord Ozai from her imprisonment. So, he's going to murder a Firelord, and free a prisoner. obviously, it's not a mission for an ordinary person, otherwise we wouldn't have traveled this many miles to get here... so, I would like to know whether I have your support on this or not, because once we ask this guy for help... there is no going back." Master Ukano finished with determination in his eyes, the look of the same soldier that fought in the hundred-year war back on his face, Shun wished he would never see that look on Master Ukano's face again, but since the problem is THAT dangerous, he thought it no affliction.
Shun eventually took a deep breath and nodded to Master Ukano, "You always have my support, Master Ukano. Let's go."
Master Ukano nodded back and the pair proceeded walking to their destination, with Shun still having problems with the smell, and Ukano scanning the place with his eyes, but seemingly unfearful at all, or perhaps it was a façade of bravado, Shun never dwelled on that thought though, as it was comforting to see that at least one of them was confident.
Finally, they reached their destination, fortunately the smell seemed to recede as they got closer and closer to the rendezvous, and that was much too pleasant for Shun.
"the flames of hope can withstand the winds of terror." Master Ukano said quite suddenly, Shun turned to him to inquire but before he could speak, there was a voice that answered Master Ukano.
"But the winds stand no chance against the wrath of fire." Suddenly, a man jumped from above to the floor beside Shun and Ukano, giving Shun quite a scare that he screamed loudly, as soon as he looked at the man though, he sighed heavily and put his hand on his chest.
"Do you have to be so mysterious?" Shun asked loudly and fearfully as he stood behind Ukano.
The Man looked atrocious to say the least, his brown face filled with scars, he had a lazy eye that looked at him funny, he had two swords tied to his back, which Shun predicted were his fighting weapons, his hair styled in a ponytail, and though Shun liked ponytails, it granted the man no favors, his face still looked atrocious, exactly what you would expect of a criminal, maybe Shun knew of the man from afar, but it was the first time he actually saw his face.
"Hello, Berserker." Ukano greeted.
"Hello, Master Ukano... I thought you were coming alone, not in the company of a wimp."
"HEY!" Shun protested.
"My apologies, Berserker... I know I told you I was coming alone, but Shun here is my loyal servant, I don't go anywhere without him." Master Ukano replied, and Shun had a look of pride on his face, The Berserker turned his face away from Ukano and regarded Shun, He came face to face with the servant, he got even closer, Shun found it uncomfortable to be this close to such a heinous criminal, but he stood his ground nonetheless.
"I can't believe you replaced me with this idiot."
Shun was offended at first, but then he realized what Berserker had said, "replaced you?"
"Shall we start talking business now?" Master Ukano asked impatiently.
The Berserker chuckled, his laugh was so menacing it made Shun shiver, "Still as cranky as ever, old man." The Berserker came face to face with Ukano again, "Let's talk business."
Ukano started, "this time, we are not dealing with an ordinary threat or even an ordinary person here… this time we are sending you to murder firelord Zuko and free the rightful firelord Azula from her prison."
The look on The Berserker's face changed to that of slight worry for a second, "What?"
"It's time we rid this nation of this traitor, who helped murder his own father and imprisoned his sister to seize the throne to himself, the new ozai society have finally gathered their forces, we are finally ready to fight off this traitor and support the rightful firelord Azula to her throne."
Shun could swear he saw a look of fear on the berserker's face for a mere second before it faded away, "What does that have to do with me?"
"You'd help us restore the firenation to its former glory… and if that's not enough, you'd earn a thousand gold pieces to make up for your troubles."
Both berserker and Shun had eyes as wide as large plates, "A thousand?" Berserker asked, sounding astonished.
"What do you say?"
Berserker was silent for a couple of seconds, before he asked the most important question, "I can take care of Zuko no problem. it's just-" Berserker stopped.
But Ukano knew exactly what he was about to say, "nobody has seen Avatar Aang in two years. I seriously doubt he would come back now."
Berserker was angry by this, "I don't care for the avatar. I'm not afraid of him, if I ever had to face him, I would make another arrow on his forehead with my swords… It's not the avatar I'm worried about. It's just… Azula…"
Ukano remembered, "Oh yeah. I remember you telling me that you've had a thing for her."
The ruthless Berserker turned his face away in embarrassment, something Shun never thought he would see, that this heinous criminal would have a heart.
"How's she doing anyways?" Berserker asked.
"Not good at all. They are torturing her. She needs your help." Ukano responded.
The Berserker got even angrier, "I'll do it." He said without hesitation.
"Excellent. We are sending you the details of our plan soon, just meet us in a better place next time, this back ally of yours really smells." Ukano said.
Shun was satisfied by this, the master said what he's been wanting to say ever since he came here.
Ukano then left the place with Shun right behind him.
Berserker was still angry he brought out his swords and used them to shoot fire in the air above him, he was so angry by what Ukano informed him, particularly the way they are treating Azula.
"I'm coming after you, Zuko. Beware." He said calmly, before he vanished away completely like a ghost.
