That Monday, Daria and Jane were in study hall talking since they had finished their work early.
"So, what did you do with the painting after you got it home the other day?" asked Jane.
"I hung it up, can't just put it in my closet and hide it, the thing is too well made to hide," said Daria.
"Well thanks for that, and the next time I give you one it'll be something different," said Jane with that same smile Daria was starting to hate and like at the same time.
"By the way, do you know if there are any gay kids at this school?" asked Daria in a lower tone so no one could hear. She was also blushing a little as she leaned in to be a little closer.
"There's a few but they keep quiet because of how dumb people are around here," said Jane also in a low tone.
"But why are you asking all of a sudden?" she asked.
"I knew a few back at my old school, they were able to be out back there, so I was just curious if there were any here," said Daria.
"So, you're not against them?" asked Jane.
"Not at all, in fact I am gay actually myself which I just recently realized," said Daria who was obviously nervous as she spoke.
"Hey, no need to be so nervous," said Jane as she grabbed Daria's hand.
"I'm bisexual so your secret is safe with me," she said while giving the other girl another smile which pulled on Daria's heart strings.
"Really?" asked Daria.
"Yeah, but let's talk more about this later," said Jane as the bell rang.
"Sure, want to come over to my place after school?" asked Daria while standing at the sound of the bell ringing for them to change classes.
"That's fine with me," said Jane.
