That evening in Daria's room, she and Jane were sitting around talking.
"So, you really realized just recently that you like girls?" asked Jane who was sitting in Daria's desk chair facing the bed where Daria was sitting.
"I had never really thought about it until now, and then my aunt helped to point out some things," said Daria. It was at this point Quinn walked by the cracked door and stopped to listen.
"So, does that mean there's someone you like at Lawndale?" asked Jane.
"Daria likes someone?" thought a shocked Quinn.
"There is, but I'm not sure how they'll feel back and it actually worries me," said Daria while rubbing the back of her neck with a concerned expression. This shocked Quinn even more as her sister was showing emotions rather than her normal stoic expression.
"Wow, Daria is serious about this," thought Quinn, shock written all over her face.
"But this is my chance to…," she thought while shock gave way to excitement at the idea of being able to help Daria with her love troubles. However, she stopped short of opening the door when Jane spoke again.
"Alright, but the only way to find out how this girl feels is to confess to her," said Jane.
"Who even is the lucky girl that snuck her way into Daria Morgendorffer anyway?" she asked with a teasing grin.
"Wait… Daria's gay?" thought Quinn who was once again stunned by what she had overheard.
"Promise me that you won't freak out," said Daria.
"Oh God, it's not one of those Barbie idiots, right?" asked Jane.
"Grose, I'd rather gouge out my eyes with a rusty spoon," said Daria while making a retching noise.
"Alright, I'm sorry," said Jane who couldn't help but laugh.
"It's you," said Daria, getting the artist to stop her laughter and look at her with a stunned expression.
"You're the one I like," she said while looking right at Jane with a bright red face.
