Mitzy Baxter smiled as she watched her son's RV drive off. She had made sure to send some homemade sweets with Buster. Her son would soon be back in college. Starting his Junior Year. Buster was soon parked in the Elwood City College RV court. In his favorite parking spot. After having dumped the sewage tank and filling the potable water tank. Buster connected up to an electrical power cable. Buster sure was glad the College offered such amenities at very affordable rates.
The court also offered a bit of security. The College grounds were patrolled by a Student Security Patrol. They may only be students and not professionals. However, they had stopped fights and even thwarted an attempted sexual assault. One of the patrolling students had even taken a glancing blow on the head from a thrown Beer bottle. For which he got praise from the two Females he was helping.
The school grounds also had another source of security. One that was literally out of this World. Xanapanda Mu is an Ursan. As is her sister, Nadine Flumberghast. Thanks to Arthur Read's sister, DW Read, two Alien females had found Love on their adopted Home Planet. Xanapanda seldom uses the last parts of her long name. It makes things less confusing for the few Humans who know her.
Ursans are slightly more mentally advanced than Humans. They have psychic abilities beyond our own. They are much more advanced in Space Travel. They can also travel Inter-dimensionally for short distances. If a furry creature which slightly resembles a Bear suddenly appears right in front of you, it is most likely an Ursan.
There are two types of Ursans. For they have Racial differences. As do Humans. One Race is short. They are the ones most likely to visit Earth. The other Race is of a size larger than our Polar Bears. Due to their size they find Earth's gravity a bit of a hindrance. Which is why they seldom visit our world.
Ursans like Xanapanda Mu refer to the others as Ursini. Ursinis are most likely to come to Earth to when studying our Star System. Although much scarier looking than Ursans the larger Ursinis would never harm a Human. They are gentle giants. In fact, they may even come to your aid if you are ever threatened by Aliens such as The Grays. For whom all Ursans have a disdain for. Ursans will however tolerate Cylons.
The robotic Cylons have learned the hard way not to tangle with Ursans. By treaty Cylons must now steer clear of Ursan space craft. It is amazing that robots can feel fear in the presence of certain Beings. Especially Beings who to us Humans kind of resemble cute Bears. Thus Buster Baxter is one person who well protected from Other Worldly mayhem.
In his younger days and wildest dreams Buster could never have imagined his friendship with Arthur Read would lead to meeting Aliens for real. Or that DW Read's imaginary friend was no figment of her imagination. Ironically, that friend would affect the lives of others much more than that of DW.
Kate, Arthur's classmate Allen, and Buster would all be affected by meeting Nadine. Ladonna's brother, Bud, would also be drawn into the drama. Eventually Nadine's sibling became aware of what her sister was up to. Xanapanda Mu just had to see what all the fuss was about. While spying on Arthur's acquaintances Xanapanda found herself fascinated with Buster. Annoyed at first by his paintings of Alien Life Forms, Xanapanda wanted to set him strait. Instead she fell in Love with him. In turn Buster became smitten with her.
Nadine Flumberghast had thus affected Humanity more than her original Ursan mandated mission had intended. Fate would soon lead to other consequences. For Nadine and Xanapanda had decided to co-operate in documenting their contacts with Humanity. Also their contacts with other intelligent Life Forms. They decided to add a bit of flair to make it all the more interesting in case it was ever published or read by others. No matter what Planet the reader was from or on.
The adult females decided the guide should be useful and intelligible for all but the youngest of readers. Since the aging process varies greatly across the Cosmos this was an important detail. Besides text; photos, illustrations and holographic images were planned to be included. It was quite an undertaking for the amateur writing duo to undertake. Luckily, the two Sisters could be just as determined and stubborn as DW Read herself. DW in turn would have been bemused if she knew how her stories of Nadine had once turned Arthur s world upside down.
Then a few years later Kate would be drawn into an ever growing drama. DW had always been known as a disruptive person to all who knew her. So DW probably would have been proud if she had learned how the story of Nadine was affecting others. The story was evolving into a Saga.
DW would also have been astonished to know Nadine had a Sibling. A Sibling who had turned Buster's world upside down. Xanapanda is Nadine's younger sister. Arthur had often thought of DW as being a bit of a spoiled brat at times. Nadine had similar thoughts about Xanapanda. The one thing the two sisters could agree on was how fascinating Human males could be.
Anatomically Human boys are similar to Ursan males "down there ". However, the Flumberghast sisters had liked how our teenaged boys acted compared to Ursan males of a comparable maturity. As Buster and Arthur reached their early twenties it fascinated their Ursan admirers even more.
Buster and Arthur were just as fascinated by their out of this World Girl Friends. Nadine and Xanapanda Mu's bodies changed little with the passage of time. Other than getting just a few inches taller they seemed ageless. The only visible signs of their maturity were their chests. Their fur is thin under their armpits, over their breasts (yes they have them) and "down there". Which is why Arthur and Buster both had a hard time not to stare when having first met Ursan females.
What looked like skirts to Arthur and Buster were really the female Ursan equivalent of Pressure Suits. Which the female Ursans only had to wear until their bodies adjusted to Earth's gravity and atmosphere. Other than that the females only wore the skirts so as not to appear as being Nudists. Also, so the Human males they encountered did not get distracted. However, at times Nadine and Xanapanda removed their skirts for comfort. Also to see what reaction it would have with the Boys.
Boys like Arthur and Buster had taken notice. Luckily for the Human males the Ursan females felt flattered by the male's roving eyes. That would eventually lead to roving Human hands. Likewise to roving Ursan hand paws. Boys will be Boys and Girls will be Girls. No matter the Planet they are from.
Kissing varies a bit by custom, culture and creature. Just like Arthur and Nadine, Buster and Xanapanda use both lip to lip kisses and nose rubbing to show affection. Sometimes such actions can go a little too far. Which is why two Ursan sisters have Human mates. College life was really hectic for Buster. He loved the life he was leading. Amazingly, he managed to get good Grade Point Averages. He excelled in Art classes, of course.
Leading a chaotic life had come natural to Arthur and Buster. Both had to roll with the punches as children. Mitzy Baxter's divorce had led to an oft absent Father for Buster. Mother and Son had learned to deal with that. Mitzy was known as being a bit eccentric. Like Mother like Son.
Arthur had to put up living with two sisters. Kate was usually easy to deal with. Dora, aka DW, was not. At first Nadine had always sided with DW in spats between her and Arthur. Then Nadine accidentally revealed herself to Kate. Thanks in part to Pal's ability to detect Nadine's presence. Even as Nadine hovered between Dimensions.
Eventually Nadine had gained sympathy and empathy for Arthur. Leading to the night Nadine had revealed herself to Arthur. An epic and life changing event for what would become an interplanetary odd couple.
Likewise Xanapanda's revealing herself to Buster led to a life shattering moment for him. The ever affable Buster had quickly recovered. Soon his paintings of possible Alien Life Forms began to garnish attention. Purchasers would have been astonished to know there was a bit of realism in those paintings.
Nadine was proud when Arthur's former grade school classmate Allen, aka Brains, purchased one of Buster's paintings. Titled "Alien Number Nine" it was based on Buster's first glimpse of Nadine. Buster claimed no real knowledge of such an entity to Allen. However, Allen had also glimpsed Nadine. He had just got done talking to DW. Who took off on her bike.
Brains had an odd feeling as if being watched by someone. Then he caught sight of something odd. He had been fascinated to see Nadine seemingly suspended a few feet off the ground. Her unique feet dangling in front of his wide eyes. Her exposed fur glistening in the daylight.
Allen had just stared in awe. He could tell Nadine was a female. "Whatever that creature is she is a beautiful specimen" the Boy Genius had thought to himself. Later, when Allen had seen Buster's painting, he guessed the truth. Before hanging it on the wall Allen had kissed the painting. It is now a beloved possession of his.
Allen often has dreams of meeting such a Being. Who knows? Maybe someday his dreams will come true. He is currently working on constructing his own mini Radio Telescope. Hoping to establish Deep Space communication with other Life Forms. Perhaps to find Interstellar Love.
Nadine and Xanapanda struggled at first with their joint project. In no time at all their writing and publishing skills improved greatly. One problem was getting permission for some quotes they wanted to include. Try tracking down a Blob and then speaking with it.
Sometimes Cylons will speak through a miniature universal translating device. Other times they will refuse. If so all a Human would hear would be something akin to the dial up tone of older Computers. Nadine and Xanapanda learned to cope with the problems they encountered. The two Writers even made friends with some of the Aliens and Robots they interviewed. They were surprised to find out a Cylon could be a good Jokester. Not all Grays are evil. The Universe is full of unique intelligent Beings.
Slowly the Guide took shape. There finally came the evening when Nadine and Xanapanda had a finished product. They knew there would be different versions published. They decided to first see how an Earthly version would fare. The Publisher was hesitant at first. Asking if this was non-fiction or fiction.
The writing duo was stumped at first as how to reply. Then an editor had an idea. A foreword in the final edited version says it all. "Is this Fact or Fiction? You, dear Reader, decide for yourself." Soon many copies of The Flumberghast Guide to the Cosmos were flying off bookstore shelves.
Many others were packaged for mail order or online order shipping. Mail carriers and parcel shippers were soon handling many packages containing the Guide. Arthur and Buster soon had an important duty. They had been legally authorized to handle royalty payments on behalf of Flumberghast Enterprises. However, not all the dealings were in Dollars or Euros.
Readers on Ursa Minor Delta were next to purchase and receive copies. They had paid in Ursan Renacs. Copies of the publication were soon being transported around the Universe. Thanks to teleportation shipping techniques still unknown to mere Humans. Various forms of payment made Arthur's and Buster's task challenging. They reveled in the challenge. So did their Other Worldly lovers.
Royalty payments have slowed down a bit as the years have passed. However, they still help Arthur and Nadine pay for their dual lives on Earth and Ursa Minor Delta. Also for the costs of raising their hybrid youngsters. Their most expensive youngster's name sounds something like Deewah to human ears. Ironically her name was inspired by that of DW's. Arthur claims that is why Deewah acts like a furry DW. For she is one mischievous little female.
Royalty payments also help Buster and Xanapanda. Payments will be even more important soon. Xanapanda will soon give birth. An Ursan medic scan showed two fetuses. One female and one male. Mom and Dad to be are ecstatic over the prospect.
Nadine likes to tease Xanapanda a bit about what the youngsters will be like. Nadine recently told Xanapanda "I bet you will get a furry little Arthur and a furry little DW". The Read family and Baxter family sagas will affect the cosmos for many years to come. Both Earthly and Ursan years. Which is why 'The Flumberghast Guide to the Cosmos' is a useful bit of reading. So, try to get your hands or hand paws on one.
Epilogue: this story is not all fiction. The student security guard who took a beer bottle off the head is based on my Senior Year at UMPI. Luckily I have a hard head. Also myself and my security partner Cory did intervene when we heard two Girls screaming for help. We protected them after contacting the local Police. Two men were arrested and charged with Attempted Assault.
