As brief as it was for Star to see her father, Jadite always made sure he spent a meal or movie night with her twice every week. When Star was born, it had been Thera's job to teach her who her daddy was. As the tow-headed girl got older, she learned why he worked multiple jobs. She eventually accepted he was attempting to make enough to support their lifestyle.
Also, Star had to remember not to mention "Dark Kingdom" or "Thetis" to Thera. Even if she had no recollection of these things, it did not mean her memories could not be unlocked. When Star was younger, she pretended she was Sailor Moon. She had had Thera act as the villain in her little game, which she was good at and never caused any issues.
Star also viewed Thera as a mother figure but never told anyone that. Thera did feel immensely sorry that Star's mother had abandoned her family. Nevertheless, she didn't feel it was her right to bring up the possibility of Jadite dating or anything related.
However, Star did divulge to Thera she was Sailor Nova, as the secret was less crucial. As for Jadite? He did have strong feelings for Thera. However, most of it was the guilt of her losing memories to be reborn. However, the blonde gentleman booked a week-long family cruise for all three of them! Star was enthusiastic about the trip, but Thera, being as courteous as she was...
"Oh no, though I'm exceptionally grateful, Mr. Powers. I don't desire to intrude on your father-daughter time with young Miss Powers," Thera explained reasonably.
"Nonsense, Thera. You are like family to me, and I'm sure Star wouldn't mind, would you?" Jadite looked at his daughter, her blue eyes just like his.
Star embraced the housekeeper, "Please, come with us. It would be much nicer to have your company around, Thera."
"If you're sure?" Thera still felt uneasy about tagging along on this "family" cruise. Star nodded.
"I already paid for the tickets." Jadite flicked one of the tickets into Thera's hands.
"Very well, if you insist," Thera put the ticket in her skirt pocket.
On the appointed day, Thera was to meet up with Jadite and Star to board the cruise liner; the pair were shocked to see her wearing a sleeveless, short, light blue dress with a small slit at the bottom, white opera gloves and white high heels. Jadite and Star were unsettled at how much this looked like the outfit her Youma's human form used to wear.
"You look lovely," Jadite commented, trying to seem polite. Yet, he was hesitant about what Thera's response would be.
"Thanks. Sorry, I don't have many elegant outfits. This is the best I could do." Thera blushed, a little embarrassed.
"No problem. You look just as elegant as anyone else here. You blend in fine." Jadite made Thera blush even brighter.
"You're too kind, Mr. Powers." Thera smiled.
"We're next!" Star cheered to defuse this sappy, awkward moment. Thera looked up in awe at the lit, massive cruise liner. As she had no memory of being on a ship before, this was a thrilling experience for her!
"She's beautiful, huh?" Jadite asked, smiling at the adventurous glint in Thera's teal eyes.
"She's majestic, that's for sure," Thera commented, referring to the ship.
Throughout the first few days, Star couldn't help but detect her father and Thera exhibiting some developing romantic moments. They both had a complicated past, whether they remember it or not. While Star was remarkably close to Thera, she was insecure about having her as a mother. In all fairness, Star and her father knew they would have to tell Thera of her past life before they could be together. The big question was how she would react. Letting Thera enjoy the rest of the voyage was a fair thing, too, as there were so many fun games to partake in.
So, at dinner, on the last day, Jadite felt he should confess what happened to Thera's memory, but he did not know how to begin, so Star started. "Thera, do you recall a location named the Dark Kingdom?" Star questioned, holding her breath.
"Isn't that the name of the location where the original villains Sailor Moon fought in her manga came from?" Thera remembered reading some manga Star used to buy based on Sailor Moon's adventures.
"It's not just a story," Jadite divulged carefully.
"What do you mean?" Thera asked skeptically.
"You used to be a part of the real Dark Kingdom. You were one of Queen Beryl's personal Youma, a water elemental. You hatched a scheme to utilize a romantic cruise to steal energy, which I supported then. You were as determined an individual as you are now." Jadite tried to explain things gradually. But his plot, her idea long ago, came tumbling from his lips before he could stop it.
"Star, did you know any of this?" demanded the captivating lady. Thera's teal eyes showed she believed them as she remembered!
Regrettably, Star nodded, "I wasn't supposed to say anything because we didn't want to alarm you. After all, you seemed so content with your new life. Regardless, it wasn't fair you didn't know."
"That's...I need a moment!" Thera turned to run away.
"Thera, wait! Please, don't be angry." Jadite grabbed her arm.
"YOU KEPT THIS FROM ME!" She screamed at him in tears before everyone and stormed onto the deck!
Thank Queen Serenity (God), Thera couldn't return to her Youma self. Otherwise, she probably would've impaled Jadite with her glove spikes! Somehow, Star knew Thera just needed a moment to process all this. Once she cooled off, she would be back. Thera returned to the cabin as evening fell but looked just as miserable as before.
Jadite couldn't take it. The former villain fell to his knees, apologizing profusely, "I'm sorry! I'm so sorry, Thera! I never meant to hurt you!"
"Did you revive any other Youma?" Thera demanded coldly.
"I didn't, Thera. Sailor Moon might have given them the same treatment as you," Jadite replied, looking up at her.
"Get up." Thera snapped, and Jadite flinched at her harsh voice but jumped to his feet. "You know, I don't remember a lot of what happened. However, there is something I can do. I adore you and know that because I never think it went away. I suppressed it out of respect, but this past week has been...eye-opening, to say the least."
"That's an understatement. I don't condemn you for being resentful. We weren't the best people then." Jadite admitted shamefully.
"I wasn't even a person." Thera rolled her eyes irritably.
"I believe you were more human than most of the Youma. You had thoughts and feelings of your own." Jadite explained truthfully.
"Does being a Youma in your past life matter now anyway?" Star questioned. Both adults looked at her, bewildered. While Thera was so busy being pissed off and Jadite worried sick, neither realized their past lives had no bearing on how they lived today.
"I guess not. It just would have been less of a shock if I could have remembered," finally, Thera let herself relax.
"There's only one thing left to do." Jadite gave Thera a big hug, and she returned it.
"I forgive you, Mr. Pow- I mean, Jadite." Thera giggled. As Jadite and Thera gazed into each other's eyes and moved their faces closer, screams caught their ears!
"Now what?!" Jadite opened the door, and a few passengers ran past him, terrified.
Seeing as no one bothered to give him an answer, Jadite ran to where the passengers had come from. He stopped cold and was astonished to see a large, slimy thing climbing onto the ship! It has a beige skin color, spindly arms, large googly eyes, a large mouth, and no lower body. However, it did not seem interested in Jadite or Star, but when it saw Thera, it spoke!
"Thetis?" Opening its mouth, a dark liquid spilled out.
"Who are you? What are you?" Thera retched at the repulsive creature.
"My name is Kai Mei (in Kajin, it means Dark Sea). I WAS a simple sea slug, but someone wanted me to get rid of Sailor Nova. So, they sent me to destroy her." Judging from its voice, Mei was male.
"Who sent you?" Thera trembled.
"It doesn't matter! You're not touching my daughter!" Jadite yelled, shielding the girl.
"Out of my way, foolish human, or you'll get to know my deep and dark ocean home better than you want to!" Mei snarled.
"Don't threaten my dad! Sunburst!" Star attacked, hurling a small, silver, exploding star at the monster's face!
Mei screamed and toppled over from the blast but was not done yet as he just rolled back onto his gelatinous belly and commanded the water to wash Star overboard! Amazingly, Thera reached out, and a torrent of water aided her, redirecting Mei's to pass harmlessly overhead!
"Thera..." Jadite was just as amazed as Thera that she still had her powers!
Limited as they had been, Thera could still put up a fight! As Mei roared and attacked, the teal-haired woman kept teleporting around him, attacking! Sadly, hitting this sea-based animal with water did nothing to it except make it angrier! Finally, Star had an idea!
"Dad, can you get Thera out of the way?"
"Thera!" Jadite signaled her to move aside.
As she did, Star used her cryokinetic/fridiokenetic ability to freeze Mei. Jadite took to punching and kicking Mei so Star could have enough time to freeze such a ginormous target, which was distracted from her for the time being. Unfortunately, Mei swung one of his arms, bating Jadite away like a fly! So, Thera jumped back in, striking the eyes! After about 5 minutes, Star was able to freeze Mei fully!
"Thera, wash this trash away!" Star grinned as Thera happily did as her partner's daughter commanded, sliding the iced horror back into the sea.
Looking over the wrecked ship, Jadite had another bright idea, "Hey, Thera, what do you say we use our tricks for old time's sake?"
Thera smiled, knowing exactly what he meant. The young woman used her illusions to make the ship look like nothing happened. Next, Jadite convinced the captain to return to port. This was less serious than the time under the Dark Kingdom plot, as this ship could be repaired. As former Shitennou and water demon stood on the bow of the vessel...
"So much for a relaxing family trip..." Thera sighed.
"I got to enjoy spending time with Star and you. Thera, I have no one but my daughter and you. If I lost either of you, I'd lose my mind." Jadite held Thera's shoulders.
"You couldn't lose me then, and you haven't lost me now. I would give my own beating her if it meant saving Star's life." Thera smiled, and Jadite kissed her.
