FADE IN:
EXT. PANDORA – DAY
Parker Selfridge, the former head of the RDA mining company, returns to Pandora aboard a shuttle. He lands near the new station and is met by Colonel Quaritch, who is waiting for him.
QUARITCH:
Welcome back, Mr. Selfridge. I trust you're here to see what's been happening since your departure?
SELFRIDGE:
Yes, Colonel. I've heard rumors of skirmishes and clashes between the humans and the Na'vi. But I need to see it for myself.
QUARITCH:
Of course, Mr. Selfridge. You'll find that things have changed since you were last here. The Pandora we knew is no more.
SELFRIDGE:
I gathered as much. But why is Jake Sully not dead? He was supposed to be taken care of.
QUARITCH:
There were unforeseen circumstances, Mr. Selfridge. Sully managed to escape and has been hiding in the jungles with the help of the Na'vi alongside his misses Neytiri and his children.
SELFRIDGE:
(angrily)
Unforeseen circumstances? That's no excuse, Colonel. I expected results, not excuses.
QUARITCH:
(apologetically
I understand, Mr. Selfridge. But let me assure you, we are doing everything in our power to rectify the situation.
SELFRIDGE:
(sharply)
And how do you plan to do that, Colonel? Because if things don't improve soon, I'll have to terminate the Avatar recon program.
QUARITCH:
(urgently)
Please, Mr. Selfridge. Give me a chance to explain. I have a plan. A way to take down Sully and the new clan he's aligned with.
SELFRIDGE:
(coldly)
Go on.
QUARITCH:
(leaning in)
We'll hit him where it hurts the most. We'll take his child, the golden boy, Logan his adopted teenage son and of course the new clan favourite.
SELFRIDGE:
(shocked)
Kidnap a child? That's barbaric, Colonel a teen
QUARITCH:
(defensively)
All's fair in war, Mr. Selfridge. And besides, it's just a human child. Sully will be devastated, and he'll lose his motivation and focus make mistakes and or course we will kill him. We'll have the upper hand.
SELFRIDGE:
(considering)
I don't condone this, Colonel. But if it's the only way to stop Sully, then I'll allow it. Pull the trigger.
QUARITCH:
(smiling wickedly)
That's all the ammunition I need, Mr. Selfridge.
