Fire and Ice Ch. 01
The first thing Bloom registers is the massive headache. The fairy had gone out to be alone for a while the night before.
The second thing, she is not in her room. Not the one in Gardenia, Domino, nor the one at Alfea. The fairy spots a monogram on the drapes over the window, telling her that she is in some hotel.
The third, there is an arm draped around her. Bloom's first thought is that the arm belonged to Sky. But then the memories of recent events rushed through her head, and she knew that it could not be him.
Bloom is freaking out. She is in a random hotel room with a random person. She is just glad to be wearing a nightgown. The fairy gently lifts the arm, hoping to be out before they wake up and no one would have to know.
At the first touch, the fairy notices that the arm was smooth and cold. Getting up, Bloom could not help but see who is in the bed with her. She wished she hadn't as the girl recognizes the long white hair.
The fairy spent the night with Icy. Bloom really needs to get out of there. Just as the fairy takes a step away, she trips and falls over.
"Keep it down!" Icy mumbles as she rises out of the bed. "I actually want to sleep in for a change." She rises to look at who disturbed her sleep. They widen as she spots the fairy. The witch throws the covers off to reveal she is in a set of pajamas. "What are you doing here, fairy!?" she accuses with a raised hand with magic forming in it.
"I honestly have no idea," Bloom takes a stand, readying her own spell.
Without another word, Icy throws an ice shard at the fairy just as Bloom releases a fire spell. The shard cuts the fairy's arm as the fire hits the witch in the abdomen.
Bloom should be worried about the cut, instead she clutches her stomach. Opening her gown, she finds that she has a burn there. Looking up, the fairy spots a burn mark on Icy in the same spot the fire spell hit.
Icy barely nurses the burn as she has a cut on her arm in the spot that Bloom hit. The witch removes her hand to examine the blood. She then notices a band around her ring finger with an unfamiliar language etched on it. Icy then looks over at Bloom. Or specifically, her hand.
Looking at it for herself, Bloom finds the same kind of band around her finger.
A few minutes later.
"I can't believe this!" Icy shouts as she buttons her shirt.
"I'm not happy about this either!" Bloom shouts back ash she finishes putting her own shirt on. "How did this even happen?" she grabs a boot, only to realize that it's not hers. "I think this is yours?"
The witch said nothing as she just swipes it away from her. "The last thing I remember is being wasted and spotting you at the bar," she finds a tennis shoe. "Not my color. Must be yours," the witch throws it at the fairy's head. "Ow!" then finds herself nursing her head.
"That's what you get!" Bloom nurses a growing bump.
"What were you doing there anyway? I couldn't imagine that you would ever be in such a place. What would your beloved fiancé think?"
Bloom looks down. "We…called it off," she puts her shoes on. "It was becoming too difficult between his duties as king and my own as a Winx. We hardly see each other," a tear runs down her face. "Why am I telling you this anyway!?"
"Don't know, don't care!" Icy shrugs. "Might have something to do with these," she holds up the hand with the ring before trying to pull it off. "Must be enchanted or something, I can't get it off."
Bloom tries the same with her own but gets the same results as the witch. "This isn't real, is it?" the fairy looks over at the witch.
Icy scoffs. "Of course not. There would have been a certificate or something to verify it."
A knock came to the door. "Room service!"
The two glance at one another before Bloom gets up to open the door. "We didn't order anything."
A man wearing a fine suit with the hotel's monogram walks in pushing a cart. He chuckles. "You ordered this personally last night, Mrs. Peters. Don't you remember?" the man receives a head shake. "Well, you wanted to surprise your lovely partner with breakfast," he reaches into his coat. "You also left this at the front desk," and hands over an envelope. "Have a good morning, Mrs. Peters and Mrs. Peters." With that, he left the two.
Bloom stares at the envelope. "I really hope this isn't what I think it is. What are you doing!?" she turns to find Icy already eating some waffles.
"Eating of course," the witch shrugs. "I'm not going to let this go to waste," she continues stuffing her face.
Bloom walks up and grabs a plate of her own. "You act like you haven't eaten before."
"Me and my sisters have to eat whenever we can. The three of us are kinda on the run. Remember?"
"How do you get by?"
Icy shrugs. "Occasional odd job here and there. Not to mention the gullible guy that is easily distracted," she gives the fairy a suggestive smirk.
"So, you stole from them!?" Bloom accuses.
"No! At least not always," the with shrugs. "You'd be surprised how many humans will give a pretty girl a free meal just because they asked. Of course, there were plenty of times we did have to steal."
"Why? There are lots of ways to make an honest living."
"How? We are wanted criminals. Even if we were to apply for a job, in Magix our resumes would include wanted posters. And here on Earth? We kinda need papers for that. At least, for any descent job where the boss isn't a swine," she takes another bite and moans. "You sure know how to treat a girl."
"How do you know this was my money?" just then, a phone starts ringing and Bloom answers her cell. "Hello?...Mom?...I can explain…It will have to wait. There's something really important I have to do first," the fairy hangs up and slouches. "It was all paid with my parents' money."
"The King and Queen or your human parents?" Icy picks at the last of the waffles.
"Mike and Vanessa."
"Ouch!" the witch laughs. "At least your other parents would have easily afforded all this. Not too sure about the other two."
Bloom's face fell into her hands. "I have no idea what I'm going to tell them," she then glances at the envelop.
Icy notices. "Is that what I think it is?" she sets her plate down.
The fairy sighs. "One way to find out," redhead rips it open and pulls out a slip of paper. "Yep, we're married," she hands it over to the white-haired girl.
The witch lets out groan as she reads the certificate stating that she is now Mrs. Icy Peters and falls back onto the bed. "Just perfect!" then she takes another look at the slip and shrugs. "What's with this Peters part?"
"It's a last name. You don't have one?"
"Not really. Most people here in the magical dimension just go by what realm they're from. Besides! I wouldn't have one anyway. I'm an orphan just as Stormy and Darcy are. It's how we met. We ended up in the same group home before Griffin brought us to Cloud Tower."
Bloom finds herself hugging the witch. "I'm sorry to hear that," only to be pushed away.
"Why am I even telling you this!? I don't need sympathy from some loser fairy!"
Said fairy glares at her. "Even the same loser fairy that you married!"
"Watch it!" Icy starts gathering magic in her hand again. "Or I'll leave you with so much frostbite, a yeti will be jealous."
"Do it!" the fairy backs up with her arms open. "I dare you!" welcoming the attack.
Icy growls before she extinguishes her spell. Knowing that she would be harming herself as well. "What do you suggest we do?"
Bloom examines her ring and looks closely at the markings. "I'm not familiar with this kind of magic. You?" she receives a no from her partner. "Then, the only thing we can do is go to someone who might have knowledge of such magic."
"Well, where are we going to find someone like that?" Icy asks just before noting Bloom biting her lower lip as the fairy glances away. "No! No way! Not gonna happen!"
