Chapter Six
The next few days passed in relative peace, and Blake's mood was high. Yang was chatty, and liked to text almost incessantly. This didn't bother Blake; on the contrary, it was a comfortable distraction from her money problems.
Now that the weekend was here and Blake didn't have the distraction of work to occupy her mind, her thoughts were solely reserved for the wily blonde.
Setting a glass of water down on the coffee table, Blake let herself fall with reckless abandon onto the couch, bouncing a bit until she settled up against Weiss' shoulder. Heaving a contented sigh, she relaxed into her friend.
"Ohh, Weiss," Blake hummed softly. Weiss, for her part, quite used to Blake's affections, merely pulled her arm out from where it had been pinned between their bodies, and draped it loosely over Blake's shoulders. The faunus hummed again, a deep and throaty sound, pleased with the coddling.
"What's got you looking like you've hung the stars in your eyes?" Weiss asked, but with a tone that portrayed the fact that she suspected what the answer would be.
"Yang is so pretty, isn't she?" Blake asked. "And funny, and smart!"
Weiss glanced sideways at her, abandoning the drama unfolding on her television screen.
"Well, we can agree that she's at least one of those things," Weiss sought out a tactful way to disagree with her faunus friend.
Blake snickered at that, but said nothing, content to nuzzle into her friend.
"What are you two planning for this weekend?" Weiss asked, curiosity coloring her tone. "Anything interesting?"
Blake shrugged, inadvertently pushing her shoulder into Weiss' ribcage, and the silver-haired woman winced, gently slapping Blake's other shoulder. Immediately, Blake apologized, a chagrined expression taking over her face. "Oops, sorry Weiss."
"Take it easy on me, I'm fragile!" She scolded lightly, but her annoyance was a façade, and she immediately went back to sliding her fingertips up and down Blake's arm.
"I'm supposed to meet her at a friend's house later today, to see a cosplay shoot she's doing." Blake offered, once Weiss had settled down again. Nuzzling her head against Weiss' cheek in apology, her ear flicking against Weiss', she made sure not to put too much pressure against the thinly-framed woman.
"Oh? Did she mention what character she's doing?" Weiss asked, interest creeping into her voice even as her gaze remained fixed upon the television.
Blake shook her head. "Nah. Didn't say anything to me about who or what it was. Just an invite."
"I see."
Blake tilted her head back to glance up at Weiss, admiring her friend's beautiful profile.
"She said you were more than welcome to come too, you know."
Weiss tore her gaze away from the television long enough to glance down at the noirette leaning into her side, staring up at her like a forlorn lost kitten. Weiss met her gaze, breaking eye contact for only the barest of seconds as sky blue eyes flashed downward - to her lips? Her breasts? Blake could only speculate- before rising to meet playful, enticing gold.
"I would love to come," Weiss added softly a moment later, her gentle breaths tickling the skin on Blake's cheek.
"I'd really like it if you did," Blake added sheepishly. "A room full of strangers plus Yang sounds like a bit much for me to handle."
Weiss finally looked away, turning back to the television. Blake could see the tell-tale signs of a blush darkening the tips of Weiss' ears, but for what reason, she couldn't piece together. No part of the conversation had been flirtatious or sexual- quite the opposite, in fact, as Blake had voiced her insecurities about meeting people that were new to her.
"I'm not going to have to suffer through the spectacle of you fawning over Yang, am I?" Weiss asked, her tone seemingly artificially light to Blake's sensitive ears.
Blake frowned. "No more than you've already put up with, I suppose. Why?" Weiss said nothing, and Blake gently pushed herself up off her friend to get a better look at her.
"Weiss? Am I bothering you with how much I talk about her? I can stop, if it's annoying you."
Weiss had twisted around to face her once Blake had pulled away, and the television was firmly forgotten as Weiss gave Blake her full attention.
"No, you're not annoying me, Blake." Weiss held out her arms, invitingly. Blake hesitated, unguarded gold searching armored blue.
"Are you sure?"
Weiss huffed a sigh, making 'come here' motions with her hands. "I'm very sure," She said, pouting as she grew impatient with the distance between them.
"I only said that to tease you, I never thought you'd take it to heart." Weiss spoke softly. "Now please come back, you're very warm."
Blake almost acquiesced, leaning forward to resume her spot against Weiss. Pausing a moment, she studied the silver-haired girl closely, hesitating for only a moment as Weiss made an impatient sound in the back of her throat. Searching Weiss' eyes for any hint of deception, she relaxed when she found none that she could readily identify.
Satisfied that Weiss wasn't holding out on her, Blake opted instead to lay down, resting her head in Weiss' lap. This was a favourite cuddling position of Weiss', and the blue-eyed woman hummed happily as she rested her right hand on Blake's head. Lightly dragging her nails through Blake's hair, scratching pleasingly at Blake's scalp, they both fell into contented silence as Weiss returned her attention back to her show. Blake inhaled contentedly, holding her breath for a second before sighing softly.
For as interesting as this show was to Weiss, it was as equally uninteresting to Blake, and bolstered by the warmth and comfort of Weiss' thighs, her eyes slowly drifted closed, lulled into a stupor by Weiss' skilled nails cascading through her locks and grazing against her skull. Every once in a while her thumb would brush up against one of her cat ears, setting it off in a flurry of twitching that inevitably made Weiss giggle. The moments were few and far between though, and Blake heaved another contented sigh, inhaling deeply through her nose and exhaling through her mouth. Burrowing her head into Weiss' comfortable lap, the feeling of her soft leggings the only barrier separating skin from skin, Blake almost missed what Weiss said as she broke the silence.
"Is everything okay, Blake?" Weiss asked, her tone oddly timid. "Lots of deep inhales down there, am I- do I smell... unpleasant?"
"What?" Confusion colored her tone as she tried to organize her sleepy thoughts.
"Just... making sure that you're okay." Weiss was clearly struggling with what she wanted to say, with how she wanted to say it. "You keep breathing in deeply, and I've had a long day, and... " Her fingers stopped their ministrations in Blake's hair as she fought the words that she was too proper and too embarrassed to voice out loud.
"I'm sure I must smell like sweat." She finally spit out, and Blake was almost disappointed that she wasn't facing the demure girl, because she was certain that the fireworks display her ears were putting on would be spectacular.
"Not even close, Weiss." Blake nuzzled reassuringly into Weiss' lap, taking another deep breath that had Weiss pinching her shoulder lightly.
"I'm not sure what it is," Blake explained, the pinch barely registering in her mind, "but you have this... one perfume, I think it is, or maybe it's body butter, or moisturizer, or something, I have no idea, but you always smell faintly of cinnamon and it drives me wild."
Blake's voice inadvertently dropped when she uttered the word, 'wild', her voice dangerously close to a seductive, guttural growl that had Weiss shifting uncomfortably beneath the faunus' head.
"As long as I don't smell unpleasant... " Weiss trailed off, leaving Blake wondering if she had more to say. Blake didn't dwell on it for long, however, trusting her friend to speak up if she had something to say. Feeling the mid-morning drowsiness getting the best of her, Blake carefully rolled over until she was facing inward, her back to the television. Nuzzling her head into a more comfortable position in Weiss' lap, she took one more contented deep breath.
"Ohh, trust me," Blake murmured, closing her eyes, "You smell... delicious."
If Blake had been looking, she would have noticed the most fiery blush spreading across Weiss' face. As it was, the woman kept her embarrassment to herself, choosing instead to continue her ministrations along Blake's scalp and the back of her neck, trying valiantly yet failing to avoid thinking about just how close Blake's nose was to her nether regions now that she was facing inward.
Try as she might, Weiss was no longer able to focus on her show.
It was some time later when Weiss pulled up to a non-descript house fifteen minutes outside of town. With Blake in the passenger seat providing direction via a text from Yang, it didn't take the two of them very long to find the right place. Spotting a motorcycle and several cars parked in the oversized gravel driveway, Blake surmised that they had the right house. Assuming Yang had rode her motorcycle, and the cars all belonged to the numerous people involved in this shoot, and not the result of a vehicle hoarder, Blake felt confident in her assessment.
"This is it," Blake unbuckled her seatbelt as Weiss glided the car to a stop, setting her park brake before slipping the transmission into park.
"Don't." Weiss warned before Blake could even open her mouth to poke fun at her for using her park brake in an automatic on level ground, and the faunus wisely kept her mouth shut. Or she tried to, anyway, but she was an imperfect creature.
"I know that's what they taught you to do in driving school a million years ago, but you know it's totally unnecessary, right?" Blake finally spilled, already grasping for the door handle to let herself out as Weiss leaned over and lightly smacked her on the shoulder.
"I don't want to hear it, Belladonna!" Weiss flipped down her visor, finding her reflection in the mirror. Checking her very subtle rose lipstick for any imperfections, she found none. Next she checked her winged eyeliner; also perfect.
"You look great, what are you worried for?" Blake asked, gently popping the door handle and pushing the sturdy passenger door open as wide as she could reach.
Weiss glanced at her from the corner of her eye, raising a sharply trimmed eyebrow before returning to her reflection. Apparently satisfied, she flipped her visor back up.
"Some of us like to be presentable." Weiss offered, opening her own door smoothly. As they both exited the low-slung luxury car, Blake stood and stretched, reaching high into the air.
"Is that why you had to shower like a madwoman before we could come here?" Blake asked teasingly. "The one you had four hours before that wasn't good enough?"
Weiss' jaw tightened momentarily before she relaxed, reaching up to double-check the black ribbon she used to secure her hair in an off-center ponytail.
"I like to be presentable." Was all she repeated, stuffing her key fob into the front right pocket of her tight, faded blue jeans.
"Well, mission accomplished." Blake noted, taking a moment to scrutinize the Schnee once more.
Aside from the form-fitting jeans, Weiss' upper body was covered by a brilliant white sleeveless shirt that didn't quite make it to her waistline, revealing her taut, trim stomach. Over that was a white lightweight sweater, unzipped in the front with the sleeves pushed up to reveal her delicate forearms. The aforementioned matching black ribbon she used to secure her hair added the appropriate amount of contrast to her otherwise overwhelmingly white color scheme. The ribbon was actually borrowed from Blake, so it matched the faunus' hair color and almost perfectly reversed clothing color scheme.
Black skinny jeans adorned the faunus' lower body, accentuating her long, toned legs and highlighting some of her more round features. A black t-shirt on the slightly looser fitting side of things covered her upper body, the length sufficient to hide her midsection unlike her friend. Still, it wasn't overly long, and glimpses of a shiny white thin leather belt with a tasteful thin chrome buckle could be seen encircling her waist.
Three black ribbons, one on each wrist and one tying her hair back into a high center ponytail provided her the finishing touches, and she opted for black eyeliner and the barest hints of a dark purple eyeshadow.
It was a quick jaunt up the pathway that lead to the front door, and Blake knocked twice before reaching for the handle and giving it a twist. It was unlocked, and she pushed it open, letting herself in as she was directed by Yang earlier.
Instantly, soft electronic music reached her ears, low and steady. Yang had said that they'd be in the basement and unlikely to hear anyone knocking, hence why she'd been instructed to let herself in, but the music floating up from the basement definitely didn't help matters.
Blake and Weiss paused in the entrance, looking around as they took in their surroundings.
"Shoes on, or off, ya think?" Blake asked. Weiss glanced down, then over to a closed door to her left. Sliding it open, it confirmed her suspicions that it was the front closet, and she pointed to a pile of shoes, on the inside.
"Looks like off." Was her terse reply, already bending down to carefully undo the laces on her shoes.
Blake was a bit more carefree in that regard, and she simply stepped on the heel of each shoe, peeling her feet out and kicking them somewhat accurately into the closet.
"Better now than never." Blake spoke, inadvertently betraying her nerves as Weiss straightened, shutting the door to the shoe closet.
Weiss glanced up at her taller friend. "Are you going to make it?" She asked, laughter threatening to spill over the edges of her genuine concern.
Blake nodded. "Sure, I may absolutely despise crowds, noise, and people I don't know, but how bad could this be?"
"That's the spirit." Lightly grabbing Blake's elbow, Weiss steered them deeper into the unknown house, following their ears as the music slowly grew louder.
The staircase descending into the basement was obvious, and Blake couldn't help but knock timidly on the walls as she skulked down the stairs, followed by a much more confident and upright Weiss.
With everyone's backs to the pair coming down the stairs, it was actually Yang who spotted them first. The blonde perked up upon spotting them, a grin spreading across her face as she lifted a hand to wave at them from her spot on a small raised, well illuminated stage.
"Hey Blake! Hi Weiss! Glad you could make it!"
This caused everyone surrounding Yang to pause and turn around, and Blake was stopped in her tracks by all the eyes on her. Weiss bumped into her gently from behind, pausing for a second before putting her hand on Blake's hip and gently guiding her forward. Spurred into action by Weiss' touch, Blake forced herself to move, continuing down the stairs. Blake and Weiss stepped down off the last step and moved forward to where Yang was hastily getting up to greet them.
"Good to see you again!" Yang wrapped Blake in a tight hug, the girl too stunned to reciprocate until the blonde released her. Head spinning, Blake could barely take in the hasty introductions that followed.
"Blake, Weiss, meet Ren, Velvet, Nora and Ilia!" A wide sweeping gesture indicated each of the four, and Blake's eyes swept quickly across them, unwilling to meet and maintain eye contact.
Blake tried to keep track of everyone she was introduced to, but knew it was hopeless. Weiss was much better equipped to deal with things like this than she was, so Blake let Weiss take center stage, the silver-haired girl dutifully remembering first and last names, and which faces they belonged to.
Lie Ren was the easiest one; the only male in the group and seemingly just as quiet and withdrawn as Blake, the faunus was certain that she would have little trouble remembering him by virtue of him being the odd one out.
The others were a bit more fuzzy, though Blake remembered hearing the name 'Velvet' tossed around before in conversation in relation to how skilled she was as a photographer, so it was easy to remember that the shy faunus with a camera around her neck was Velvet.
Silently repeating Nora and Ilia's names to herself, Blake scrutinized them as she introduced herself, determined to not mix them up. Not that she was stupid, but being in the company of strangers tended to make her brain switch off, a thing that Weiss was well accustomed to.
Weiss immediately took the initiative, introducing herself and drawing the attention away from Blake, and the faunus huffed a silent sigh of relief as she stepped away, closer to Yang.
"I'm so glad you made it!" Yang pulled her into a one-armed hug once more, and this time Blake had the presence of mind to return the embrace, her faunus ears swiveling this way and that as she tried to track the multiple conversations happening at once.
"You look- amazing, incredible." Blake tripped over her words, hurriedly closing her mouth as she reached up to rub embarrassedly at her neck. Normally, with her hair unbound, she could hide her discomfort beneath the veil of her hair, but with it tucked up into a neat, tidy ponytail, tonight there was no hope.
Yang's eyebrows lifted as she grinned, taking a step back and indicating herself with both hands. "Don't I, though?"
"What character are you cosplaying as?" Blake asked, taking a moment to study the girl. The confusion was evident in her voice, as Yang's outfit was so skimpy that if it were a re-imagining of some popular girl, there was almost nothing left of it to identify the original from. Yang waved her off, however, putting a hand on her hip.
"This one isn't a cosplay of anyone in particular, but I did do some of that earlier. We are, however, wrapping up the evening with a sort of generic lingerie shoot. It'll be a part of next month's subscriber package."
Blake nodded, understanding dawning on her face. The lacy black bra and revealing panties were starting to make more sense now, Blake thought.
"Aren't you cold?" Blake asked, reaching up and running her hands through her bound ponytail in an attempt to burn off some nervous energy.
Yang laughed, shifting from one bare foot to the other. "Well, yeah, I kind of am now, but with all of those lights on you, it's warmer than you'd expect." Yang motioned behind her to where the stage sat, brilliantly illuminated by more lights than Blake thought strictly necessary.
"This is quite the setup," Blake commented, looking around. "So all of those photos on your social media were actually shot in a place like this?"
Yang nodded, her blonde curls bouncing about her face. "Uh huh! Oh, except for location shoots, and videos, those ones are obvious. But if it's a still image, chances are it was shot here and edited in post."
"That's... kind of cool." Blake admitted, thinking back to some of the photos she'd seen.
"Speaking of cool," The faunus continued, "Where'd you find this little number?" Reaching out, she gently plucked one strap of Yang's bra. As she was about to let it snap softly against Yang's skin, a brilliant flash lit up the room, startling them both.
"Sorry!" Velvet called out, lowering her camera. "I couldn't resist," She added sheepishly. "It was a fantastic candid moment, but don't worry, it won't be put up on the 'net." Moving closer, she glanced down at her camera, pressing though a few buttons. After a second she turned the camera around, showing Yang and Blake the photo she'd just taken.
Tall, bare legs of Yang dominated the photo, as did the mane of blonde hair. Yang's ever-present grin was frozen on her face, and a peculiar emotion that Blake couldn't -or wouldn't?- identify was on her own face, her head tilted down toward Yang's chest yet her eyes aimed only slightly above. Her body was shut in on itself, showing her discomfort with her environment as her shoulders were slightly lifted and drawn close to her body. Her left arm was stretched out toward Yang, her fingertips brushing against Yang's soft skin as she plucked the bra-strap from her body.
"That-it's an incredible camera," Blake breathed, not trusting herself to speak too much. Yang was a bit more enthusiastic, however, giving Velvet a big thumbs up.
"Good shot, Velv! That look on Blake's face is devious!"
Blake's cheeks darkened at that, and Velvet chuckled, her oversized rabbit ears dipping in appreciation to Yang's compliments.
"I'll send you the raw later, if you'd like." Velvet directed the comment toward Blake, but before the faunus could respond- out of haste? Or out of a desire to save Blake the embarrassment? The faunus couldn't tell- Velvet had turned to Yang once more, raising her camera conversationally.
"What do you think about finishing up?" Velvet asked lightly, "or do you need a few more minutes?"
Yang glanced at Blake, lightly scratching at her forearm. "Uh, yeah. Yeah, I'm ready to continue." There was an unasked question in Yang's tone of voice, and Blake waved her off.
"I'll be fine, I've got Weiss." Blake gestured over her shoulder to where her friend was still engaged in conversation.
Yang smiled at that, turning to Velvet. "Alright, let's finish up."
Blake watched in mild consternation as Yang moved away from her, chatting with Velvet and hands moving a mile a minute as she gestured this way and that. Ren seemed to snap into action as the two women approached, reaching out to adjust lights just so as Yang stepped back up onto the raised platform.
Feeling ill at ease with Yang away from her, and Weiss engaged in conversation, Blake took a few steps back, eyes flicking this way and that as she took in the sudden burst of activity that filled the basement. Velvet had her camera back in front of her face, and quickly thereafter a staccato rhythm of flashes filled the air. Ren was engaged in re-routing extension cords along the back wall, his long black hair falling over his right shoulder as he bent over.
The other faunus in the room, besides Velvet and Blake herself- Ilia, right?- seemed to be tidying up a small collection of supplies, folding extra clothes up and stashing them into a backpack. The quiet clacking of aluminum and metal tins spilled into the air as she collected various bits of makeup, organizing them into neat piles and snapping the lids onto anything not already closed. Her deft fingers snatched up brushes and combs, tossing them into a small container.
Wary gold eyes shifted from Ilia to Weiss, studying her friend as the last remaining stranger, Nora, talked Weiss' pretty little ears off. Flicking her ears forward, she tuned into the conversation, folding her arms across her chest as she leaned against the stairway handrail.
"-No real reason to be here, other than that." Nora was saying, sweeping an arm in the direction of Ren. Weiss was nodding slowly, the very picture of patient rapt attention.
"Well, I'm sure Yang appreciates just having you here for support." Weiss replied lightly, reaching up to tug at the black ribbon that secured her beautiful long silvery hair. Blake's eyes slid appreciatively up and down Weiss' slender forearms as the girl adjusted her ribbon, then returned her gaze to Nora as Weiss' arms fell back to her side.
"Of course she does!" Nora agreed proudly, puffing her chest out, "Not to brag or anything, but I make an amazing hype-lady."
Weiss chuckled at that, and a bit of tension bled from Blake's shoulders at the familiar sound. Relaxing her taut shoulders, she gently rolled them back and forth, intent on working the tightness and stress out as best she could.
Keeping her ears on Weiss and Nora's conversation as it moved from 'hype-lady' territory to a compliment on Weiss' clothing, Blake risked a glance toward Yang to see how she was doing.
The blonde was in her element, face alight with a grin as she struck different poses at the direction of Velvet. Blake watched unabashedly as Velvet paused, letting her digital camera hang from her neck for a moment as she pantomimed what she wanted Yang to do. Yang nodded, copying Velvet as she leaned forward slightly, legs spread wide, a grin on her face as she made a 'come hither' gesture with one hand, the other on her hip.
"Perfect!" Velvet quickly picked up her camera once more, taking a second to find her focus before snapping another half-dozen photos. After a moment, the faunus gave Yang a thumbs up, and the blonde relaxed, straightening up.
Velvet stepped up onto the stage to talk to Yang, letting her camera hang about her neck as she reached up to adjust the fit of Yang's bra. Almost against her will, Blake's sharp eyes tracked Velvet's slender fingers as they slipped along the outside edge of Yang's bra, pushing it slightly up before pointing to her own chest and making a push-up motion. Yang nodded in understanding at whatever it was Velvet had said; not that she spoke too quietly to be heard, but it was hard for Blake to focus on them when Nora was being so loud.
"Are you sure you don't want to join me, Blake?"
Blake's ears swiveled away from Nora and Weiss at the sound of Yang's voice speaking her name, and she blinked as she realized she'd been caught staring. A sudden flash made her blink again, and when the bright spots faded from her eyes, she realized that Velvet had snuck another photo of her. Uncertain how to feel about that, but choosing to believe the girl when she said that nothing would be put on the internet, she discarded that problem for a moment to focus on the more pressing issue.
"I'm not sure I want to be... " Trailing off, she gestured to Yang's current state of dress, or lack thereof.
Yang snickered, and reached out one hand invitingly. "Oh, come on now, you don't have to take off anything that you don't want to."
Face heating up as she realized that not only was Yang and Velvet's attention on her, but now Nora and Weiss were staring at her, a mild panic began to set in.
"Uh." Unsure of what to say, her voice sticking in her throat, Blake felt the panic rising in her chest at the sight of so many sets of eyes trained on her. Just when it felt like it was going to overwhelm her, Weiss stepped in, drawing the attention to herself and pulling it from Blake.
"We didn't really have time for that today, even if she wanted to," Weiss offered, glancing at Blake from the corner of her eye to judge the faunus' reaction to her words. "Not Blake's fault, of course. I have something to attend to this evening, so we had originally planned for our visit to be quite brief."
"Oh, that's too bad." Yang's voice reflected her obvious disappointment, but she didn't push the issue. "Maybe next time?"
Blake nodded, feeling the panic begin to subside now that there was no pressure for her to step into the spotlight.
"Yeah, maybe next time." She spoke quietly. Yang smiled at that, then set about getting dressed, accepting the clothes that Ilia handed to her as Velvet began to carefully dismantle her camera equipment, popping off lenses and placing caps on to protect their sensitive glass.
Ren was already flitting around the room, turning off lights and wrapping up cords. Alternating between watching him work and Yang getting dressed, Blake felt her heartbeat subside from her throat as the attention faded from her direction.
Weiss stepped up to her side just then, blue eyes flitting around the room curiously before landing on Blake.
"All good?" Was all Weiss asked, and Blake nodded in relief. "Yeah, thanks."
Weiss, never one to be competent at accepting genuine gratitude, said nothing as she looked away, busying herself with studying the basement more closely.
"You know, this is a hell of a setup." Weiss nodded, looking around. "I think we can make something out of this."
Blake tore her eyes away from the blonde, now fully clothed, and examined the rest of the basement. More equipment that she hadn't noticed before sat tucked away along one far wall, and there was enough empty space around the stage that Yang had occupied earlier to comfortably expand without feeling cramped.
"Think so?" Blake asked, curiosity seeping in. Weiss nodded slowly, training her icy gaze on Ilia as the girl confidently strutted around, gathering things up and tidying up her work space.
"I just realized that I'm not sure who even owns this house," Weiss admitted suddenly. Her eyes flitted around, taking in each individual in the room in a new light as she tried to ascertain who lived here.
Blake hummed quietly. "I think it's Ilia's." Blake carefully lifted a hand and gestured toward the faunus across the room, careful not to point rudely.
"Yeah?"
Blake nodded. "Smells like it. Her scent is everywhere."
"Good to know." Was all Weiss said, as she studied the faunus with renewed interest.
Blake opened her mouth to ask why, exactly, that was good to know, when Yang spoke up, stepping up to her side.
"Hey! We're all going out to get something to eat. You two want to join? I know you said you had something to do tonight, so we can try and make it quick."
Weiss glanced at Blake, an unspoken question in her eyes. Do you want to?
Blake hesitated a moment, then nodded at Weiss. Turning to Yang, she nodded slowly. "Sure, we could eat. We can't stick around for long, but, we appreciate the invite."
"Great!" The excitement was visible in bright lilac eyes, and Yang gestured to everyone else in the room. "I can't wait for you to get to know everyone!"
Blake's stomach did a little flip at that, but she steeled herself against her anxiety, and slapped a smile on her face.
"Me either."
In the moment, she couldn't tell if it was the truth, or an anxious lie.
