16 year old Lincoln Loud the lone male Loud family sibling still found it quite a challenge to have to make it through life in his house with his sisters and it could only get so much better with the 4 oldest daughters having moved out. In fact it wasn't so easy as while he would do his part in helping everyone get ready in the morning; despite 1 sister still older than him living in the house Lincoln was made the de-fact one in charge of the house and the siblings when the parents were out as they didn't quite trust Lynn Jr with the job.
But taking care of a house with 6 Loud sisters was still quite a challenge for Lincoln but it was always worth it in the end; despite all the chaos and irritation that it brought him, he loved them all and they did love him.
Came one day with Spring Break coming up at Royal Woods High School; and there was something a buzz at Royal Woods High School and Girl Jordan had explained it to Lincoln and his group of friends as they were discussing what to do for their Spring Break. Turns out that in Canada they were setting up a Reality TV competition for 16 year olds called Total Drama Island where the last one standing in the end would win ten thousand dollars and to be hosted by Canadian TV celebrity Chris McLean. There would be 15 slots for Canadian teenagers but they had 1 spot available for an American teenager and the students at the high school were putting together their applications and audition tapes for a chance to get that slot.
Lincoln's friends decided to try their luck at their own auditions for fun but Clyde laughed about how scared his dads would be at the idea of Clyde being on an island in Canada for the summer.
He told his parents about it and they let him put in his own audition; knowing the chances of actually being picked were a huge longshot but it would be fun to just give it a go. So the first weekend of the Spring Break; Lincoln filled out his application with the sisters at house insisting on helping out.
Not even those at the house; Luan had taken time away from her studies at comedy school and Leni from her job as a fashion designer to help out Lincoln with his audition video. Even Lori had driven all the way to Royal Woods to help out; living in Great Lakes City with her husband Bobby to give her assistance.
Lisa was helping to operate the camera as Lincoln coughed and got ready as the video was being filmed; "Hi; I'm Lincoln and I live in Royal Woods with my sisters. My house calls me 'the Man with the Plan' and I like comics, video games, I can do magic tricks and..." Lincoln said only to be hit on the head by a soccer ball being kicked by Lynn Jr. "Lynn; what was that?" Lincoln demanded.
"You shouldn't bore them Lincoln; show you can do whatever activities they will have you do on the show!" Lynn Jr shouted at him and Lincoln then covered his ears as there was Luna playing her guitar.
"A rocking soundtrack should help you out bro!" Luna explained as there was Luan tossing a rubber chicken at him.
"Tell a joke Lincoln; show what a stand up guy you are. Stand up guy, get it?" Luan said and laughed as Lincoln then had dirt thrown at his hair.
"Make them believe that you are an outdoor person!" Lana explained as there was Lori going into the shot with a comb and went to his hair.
"Lana! Lincoln can't be seen by them like that; now i have to make him presentable again to give him a chance on being picked!" Lori shouted as there was Leni running into the shot to have Lincoln put on a new scarf that she had designed; make him look more impressive for the cameras.
"Hello there; I'm Lola Loud and I'm something of a local pageant legend and I'm just destined for TV!" Lola said with a smile as she pushed her way to shove her face into the camera as Lisa moved the camera away only to jump as there was Lucy standing there as if she just appeared.
"What do you think Lisa?" Lily the youngest Loud asked Lisa concerned as Lisa had the camera on her.
"Well the video is to be at maximum 5 minutes and I have at most 18.4 seconds of Lincoln on his own." Lisa said as Lincoln managed to wrestle his way from the sisters and Lisa put the camera back on him.
"Sorry about that; only boy in a family with 10 sisters... They can be a little bit of a handful..." Lincoln said to the camera with as best a smile as he could muster.
The Loud parents had scolded the siblings for messing up Lincoln's audition tape and even Lori a now married woman felt like a teenager being scolded for traffic tickets again. Lincoln decided to just send in the video with the application anyway as he didn't have the energy to think of how to go about a do-over anyway.
A month after the deadline the students at his high school including his friends got their rejection messages and while most of the students were bummed out; their friends group knew that it was a long shot.
Lincoln ended up getting his email on a Saturday morning right after his friends had come over to play video games together. He opened it up and began reading it out loud and their eyes widening as he read on as it was an acceptance letter complete with a photograph attachment of the host Chris smiling while giving two thumbs up.
The sisters and parents found Lincoln on the couch frozen in shock with the phone in his hand and the friends had to explain it to them; Lola took the phone from him to read out the message to confirm and the excited family brought Lincoln into a group hug. The other sisters were informed and they came straight to the house to join in the celebration with Lori's parked car being surrounded by police officers who were chasing her for speeding.
The time came in the summer for Lincoln to leave for his first trip out of the country ever since the Louds visited their ancestral Scottish home; Lincoln's friends were there at the airport with his family to see him off. His 'Pop Pop' Albert and his wife Myrtle, Bobby was there with Lori and Lincoln felt himself hugged to death by his tear filled sisters before their parents managed to pry Lincoln away from them.
The goodbye wave seemed to go on forever as Lincoln had to go and board his flight.
He passed the time on the plane ride by watching a movie available and soon he was there and found a representative of the show waiting to collect him and take him to a hotel for the night and then he would be shown in the morning to the cruise boat that would take him to the Camp Wawanakwa island where the show/competition would be taking place.
On the ship he noticed the other differently dressed teenagers who would be the other contestants; he felt nervous wondering what to say since they would be competing against eachother but then remembered the advice his parents gave him:
"Don't be afraid to try and make friends with the other teenagers Lincoln; being too competitive causes too much backstabbing on these type of shows and just watch out for those wanting to win at all cost. They should be easy to spot but take a chance if you end up finding people to get along with and they could end up being your friends."
Lincoln looked around noticing what looked like a large jock boy doing one armed push ups and then a goth girl sitting by the corner drawing on a notebook. Lincoln held his breath as he went up to her saying "are you competing here as well? I'm Lincoln and are you a goth because one of my sisters is a goth and are you drawing? I fancy myself a bit of an artist myself..."
The girl sighed as she looked up to him with a bit of a frown saying "Lincoln is it? I'm Gwen and I appreciate it if you are trying to be nice but I'm not exactly a people person. I only signed up because of a dare from my brother." Lincoln gave a nod as he walked by standing in front of a blonde haired girl and a black girl haired subathing by deck chairs.
"Is the white haired kid in my Sun? Scram or else I will make sure that you're going home first!" said the black haired girl quite rudely and Lincoln sighed walking by thinking that he found at least one of the backstabbing drama queens who will be doing anything to win.
Lincoln now stood by the barrier at the edge of the boat when a smiling redhaired girl in pigtails came up to him. "Are you looking for friends? So am I as it gets kind of lonely where I am from. I'm Zoey!" the girl greeted with a smile taking Lincoln's hand to shake and Lincoln accepted it with a smile thinking he had found a friendly face.
"Nice to meet you Zoey, I'm Lincoln and if you want I would love to be your friend! Just because it's a competition, doesn't mean that we have to be at each other's throats!" Lincoln said and they both noticed a blonde haired girl sitting on the barrier in a lotus position.
"I bet Zoey will appreciate it; her auras says that she is very lonely as an only child. I'm Dawn." the girl greeted looking sympathetic with them both taken aback and looked at eachother and then at Dawn smiling at them weirdly with Zoey looking like she was creeped out. "Plus Lincoln; give Gwen some time to warm up as her aura reads that she was burned by people judging her before giving her a chance based on her appearance so she doesn't like to take chances trying to make friends anymore." Dawn said as Lincoln cleared his breath.
"Thanks Dawn but are you sure that's safe what you are doing? Sitting on the barrier like that?" Lincoln asked concerned as Dawn shook her head.
"I find this peaceful and I worry not about falling into the water as I have a special connection with mother Earth's animals including the sea life. They would be able to help me." Dawn said as they took this in.
"Plus it can't be any more dangerous than what that guy is doing." said a large boy with a goatee as they spotted at the back of the ship in the water a guy skiing in red sporting outfits.
"Wow if Lynn saw that, she would want to try it..." laughed Lincoln as Dawn looked Lincoln and gasped as she jumped back on deck and went up to him.
"I can't imagine what it must be like; being the only boy in a family of 10 sisters and helping everyone get ready in the morning and now being the one in charge of your siblings. You bare through it and don't let it get you down, your sisters are lucky to have you as a brother." Dawn told him and Lincoln was weirded out wondering how she could possibly know all this; did this 'aura' reading give her some sort of mind reading or people reading ability.
"Thanks Dawn; I appreciate that..." Lincoln said putting a smile on his face which Dawn smiled back at as he noticed the looks he was getting.
"Wait; is she right? Do you actually have 10 sisters?" the big boy asked as Lincoln gave a nod as he went through one of his suitcases and brought out a framed photo of him with his sisters and their parents and their eyes widening with others joining them as there was a brown haired boy trying to flirt with the girls subathing.
"What stamina your folks must have..." said the jock boy from before and Lincoln looked uncomfortable.
"Can only hope your sisters don't get into too much trouble with the brother there; must have been a lot of work having to look after all those girls. My dad said I had to look after the girls here when I get on the show aye with how inferior they are." said a short boy with a hat and there was a pause as he had gotten looks from everyone on board and the girls all glaring at him.
Lincoln took a step back glad that this any girl glares weren't on him for a change.
"What? It's true; guys are so much smarter, stronger and better at sports than girls are aye. Not your fault and you have me and the other guys to help you through it; want to help you all survive it all!" the boy continued unable to read the room or rather the deck in this case as the glares from the girls became harsher and they walked away from him.
Lincoln shook his head at him and said "nice going pal; you now all every girl in the contest out for your blood..." His words took the boy's notice as he looked at him with Lincoln looking his way and up at him.
"You called me pal? Are we pals as like friends? I don't get out of my farm much and I was home schooled my whole life aye so I never got a chance to make any human friends... So are we friends now?" the boy said with Lincoln quickly realising the boy's problem was that he was sheltered with little people skills and his gut telling him to turn him down gently but he ended up nodding. "Thanks aye! I'm Ezekiel and wait until I tell my folks that I made my first friend!" Ezekiel said embracing Lincoln and letting go.
"Your welcome Ezekiel; I'm Lincoln..." Lincoln introduced back wondering if he had made a mistake as he got him off.
"Rather nice of you Lincoln; I wouldn't have been too quick to agree but still nice all the same..." Dawn said from behind Lincoln as Ezekiel was running in circle excited about having a friend while the jock was angrily chasing a large obtuse boy for eating all the food as the jock was shouting that he needed to be well fed for his energy.
"Still; it's good for to make as much friends as possible!" Zoey said with a smile even though it was clear that she was still upset at Ezekiel.
"Not the wisest decision; for your chances in the competition I think you should choose your friends more carefully. I'm Courtney: certified CIT and winner of my school's student body president!" greeted a girl walking up to Lincoln and smiled. "So nice to meet you Lincoln and I think that you are going to regret taking him on as a friend." Courtney said taking Lincoln's hand to shake.
"Thanks Courtney but if you think I am going to regret taking Ezekiel on as a friend then the joke's on you... I already regret it!" Lincoln replied with a sigh getting looks of pity from the girls.
The boat came towards the island and the teenagers were taken aback as they noticed the run down looking summer camp on the island which definitely looked nothing like the pictures on the promotional material. "Come on everyone... It looks like a fixer upper... Just like this camp that my Gramps runs..." Lincoln said trying to reassure them.
The boat docked causing the skiing boy to have a bad turnout as the host Chris McLean was there to greet them; he helped the boy in the water out and introduced him as Tyler and Chris jumped as Dawn was behind him to greet him. Everyone on the boat was surprised as they never saw Dawn go down.
Gwen was greeted not happy about staying and when shown her contract ripped it up but Chris said that his lawyers made lots of copies. DJ the boy with the goatee looked happy to see Chris, there was the rude black haired girl Heather who was taking the accommodations reveal harder than Gwen was, Lindsay the blonde haired girl who was sunbathing next to Heather and didn't seem to be the brightest having forgotten who Chris was (reminding Lincoln a bit of Leni), Justin a handsome muscular boy who didn't seem to mind when Chris admitted to his face that he was chosen for his looks, Katie and Sadie two girls in the same outfits who looked like excited best friends, Ezekiel who Chris told to try and not get kicked out too early, Zoey, Cody the boy who was flirting with Lindsay & Heather earlier, Owen the obtuse boy from earlier who was excitingly hugging everyone there to mixed results, Lightning the jock boy and then Courtney.
"Finally here is the boy who was lucky enough to get chosen for our 1 spot for an American contestant: Lincoln!" Chris greeted as Lincoln went down to join everyone on the dock.
"Wow; you comes from the US? What's the clothes like?" Lindsay said her eyes widening with interest making Lincoln reminded more of Leni.
"You were the only American chosen? Lightning will have his eyes on you to see what makes you so special!" Lightning warned with two fingers to his eyes and pointed to Lincoln as he felt like he found another competitive teen to watch out for.
Chris had then all posed together for a photo and said to join him by the campfire pit in ten minutes.
They were all sitting down at the campfire pit with Chris facing them; "For the summer; Camp Wawanakwa is your home and the campers sitting around you will be your cabin mates, your competition and maybe even your friends! The camper who manages to stay on Total Drama Island the longest without getting voted out will win 100 thousand dollars!" Chris explained.
"How about the sleeping arrangements? I mean I am concerned that the girls here won't be able to resist the Codmeister for long!" Cody asked getting up to do some flexing motions to some odd looks, some unimpressed looks and some snickering.
"Girls get one side of the cabins and boys the other." Chris explained and after some reactions Chris got a sheet of paper up. "I am going to split you into 2 teams. Go stand over there if I call your name out!" Chris said pointing as Lightning, DJ, Lindsay, Justin, Tyler, Zoey, Heather & Dawn were called out and they got up from their stumps.
"You know what this means right best friend? We are on the same team!" Ezekiel said excitedly putting his arm around Lincoln's shoulder as he was almost ready to plead to change teams as he got looks of pity from the others and there was Zoey and Dawn who looked concerned.
"From this point on you are the Screaming Beavers!" Chris said tossing them their flag with an angry looking beaver on them. "The rest you will be known as the Killer Hamsters!" Chris said tossing them their flags with Katie and Sadie excited about being on the same team but Courtney frowned.
"They get beavers and we're hamsters?" complained Courtney with a groan.
"Hamsters are cool Courtney; we have one at home and Geo is a neat little guy. Never leaves his ball." Lincoln said trying to lighten his spirits as well as the others who weren't too keen on their based animal.
Chris explained that they will be on camera on all public areas during the competition.
Chris was in the outhouse facing the camera explaining that they will be able to share their innermost thoughts and feelings on tape on video diaries anytime that they want; let the audience know what they are thinking or get something off their chest.
Gwen sitting in the confessional said that so far this sucks.
Lindsay was facing away from the camera trying to find it.
"Okay to my parents and my sisters and friends back home... I am here and this place doesn't look what was expected but Camp Mastodon should have kept me prepared for what it comes. The people here for the most part seem cool enough and I think I found at least 2 girls to be friends with others I can see... Except for some... But there was this one boy I took pity on as he seemed to be sheltered and clueless but I am still not sure about my decision... Lincoln admitted in the confessional.
"Mum, Dad! I already found my first friend on the ship! His name is Lincoln and he said that he has 10 sisters back home; I think we bonded and you know how you told me to look after the girls here because of their disadvantage? I think he can help me out with that!" Ezekiel said in the confessional excitedly.
The Screaming Beavers were going into their cabin and Heather commented on the bunk beds seeming like summer camp; she then looked to her teammates and shouted "look all of you losers; don't get in my way and I will leave you alone otherwise you are dead!"
Outside the cabin Lindsay asked about outlets and Chris explained about the communal bathrooms and it led to Gwen calling Lindsay an idiot and she complained in response.
Lightning was doing star jumps as he said "Lightning should be on a team of one; used to doing everything on my own so you had better not bring Lightning down with your lesser talent and skills!"
"I was hoping we could all be friends but so far, I don't think most of our teammates will be getting along..." complained Zoey as the team was glaring at Lightning but Dawn was down. "Are you still thinking about how Lincoln is stuck with that sexist idiot who he had unwittingly attached as a friend? I am sure Lincoln will be fine and he might be on the other team but that doesn't mean that we can't be friends!" Zoey assured her and they spotted Lincoln with his suitcases as he went to go up to them.
"Yeah; nothing wrong with keeping this a friendly competition! We can still be friends no problem; no need to make it anything close to personal!" Lincoln said with Zoey and Dawn smiling.
"Quite right!" DJ said having put his stuff away and Lincoln noticed Ezekiel making his way next to Lincoln.
"No need to get personal is right; Lincoln and I the new BFFF squad maybe on the other team than you 2 girls but we could all still be friends! Just don't take it personally when we beat you on every challenge!" Ezekiel said with a smile and Lincoln facepalmed as the nearby girls gave Ezekiel looks and mostly glares.
"Ezekiel... How about I put my stuff away and then we can have a nice talk about watching what you say and how to actually talk to girls." Lincoln told him with a smile as he then heard Lindsay shout from within the Screaming Beavers cabin about a cockroach.
Lincoln went into the Killer Hamsters cabin to put his stuff away while there was Courtney complaining under her breath; Lincoln was taking it in amusement as she was muttering "what is it going to look like if I put on my college application that I was on a team called the Killer Hamsters?"
Lincoln when putting away his notebook had pages fall out and Gwen picked them up and handed them to it after taking a look; "Thanks... Like I said I fancy myself an artist myself..." Lincoln told her and she gave a small smile.
"They are good and since we are going to to be on the same team anyway; we could hang out more... You are going to need all the help that you can get making sure that your homeschooled bestie doesn't get himself killed in his sleep." Gwen told him and Lincoln gave a laugh at this as Lincoln got out and there was Dawn smiling as she helped the cockroach within her cabin outside.
Tyler bragging that he could have done the same with Lindsay looking at him all dreamy eyed.
In the main lodge the scary looking Chef Hatchet told him that he will serve them 3 times a day and they will eat it and to get their trays. Most of the customers looked disgusted but Lincoln getting the best looking food that he could see sat down at the Killer Hamsters table; "I have actually seen worse in what my sister Lana has to eat..." Lincoln said and spotted Zoey and Dawn sitting next to eachother with Dawn eating some vegetables on the menu and they smiled as they waved to him.
"Lincoln already has girls' interest; we could be the players on the Hamsters if you catch my drift!" Cody said coming closer to Lincoln and putting his arm around his shoulder.
"You a player? No offence aye; but I think you are trying too hard to be some sort of playboy..." Ezekiel told Cody and Lincoln and other Hamsters members snickered at Cody being told by Ezekiel and Cody didn't totally get the hint.
Chris was there to tell them that they had one hour before their first challenge.
"What do you think that they will make us do?" Zoey asked at the Screaming Beavers table.
"It's our first challenge; how hard could it be?" DJ asked with everyone having the same idea.
1 hour later the 16 contestants were terrified as they were overlooking a thousand feet high cliff with the camera zooming out to emphasize the size of it all and DJ's profanity was censored out.
Inspiration from Total Loud Island and please no questions about if there are more in the pairing. The title comes from the Camp TV which was TDI's first pitch with a trailer that had Gwen as a redhead and a previous name was Heather (hilarious due to who her biggest enemy in the original series was) and more of a loner and it appeared that she would have hooked up with Geoff.
I will say that I mostly randomised the teams except for 4 or 5 specific characters in places; I wrote the names on places of paper and folded them up to put them into places. After seeing where everyone went I took a photo but I ended up typing the name placements on a document due to realising how bad I was at reading my own handwriting which is a lifelong problem for me as I struggling with handwriting. Plus I also struggle with ensemble casts which is a reason why it's only 16 contestants.
