10 YEARS LATER

A decade had gone by since the day that the United Federation agreed to the terms set forth by the Kingdom of Acorn and there was an uneasy peace between the two nations that was slowly growing stronger as the years went on. Collateral damage fixed and war criminals on both sides prosecuted and locked up in a specialised prison.

It was at night and looking over a building in Mobotropolis was the now 14 year old Sonic who was wearing red and white sneakers along with white gloves. "The citizens of Mobotropolis can rest easy knowing that their fearless protector Blue Justice himself: Sonic is watching over them! Like the Black Bat or the Super Surfer!" Sonic said making some sort of heroic pose while thinking of his two favourite comic book heroes. "Now if only something could happen for the Blue Blur crusader to do..." groaned Sonic looking impatient as he began tapping his foot.

Sonic then decided to jump down and run around the streets until he came across the middle area of Mobotropolis and the statue of young King Elias shaking hands with then President Bushnell which was to symbolise peace between their worlds and species and there were Mobians in disguises spray painting on the statue. "Weak willed brat made peace with those hairless apes... Peace, what a joke..." muttered one of them as Sonic then ran up to them.

"I am all for expressing your artistic side but you could have used like a blank wall to show it!" Sonic said and they then began running away and Sonic stood there with a smirk; "I love giving them a head start; it's more fair this way..." Sonic said before rushing through the streets after them and then noticed them rushing into a convenience store to hide. Sonic then charged at them knocking them out and took them out after tiring them up. "How convenient I was here!" Sonic said but looked nervous as he looked at the mess in the store and decided to make his exit.

A figure was in a secret lab in a remote location smirking as he was watching his machines constructing his robot army of flying and on ground with wheels drones; each equipped with a strong laser. "Soon my Badnik army shall be ready to commence with my evil plans of global domination and vengeance!" the figure said twirling his moustache and then laughing maniacally.

Green Hill Zone and Sonic had fixed up his house and was now the only real one staying in what used to be the Zone's village with the remaining still standing houses now being the home to his animal friends. After going to sleep when he returned home; Sonic woke up early as usual and went on his morning run through the hills, going through and looping around the hills. He returned back to the village looking at the village's still working red colored plane known as the Tornado, "Why hello there representatives of the the King himself..." Sonic said looking at the members of the royal guard that had arrived looking stern with one passing over a notice to Sonic who quickly read it over. "Why the King himself has invited me over once again for a meeting? I am honored..." Sonic said as the notice basically said that King Elias wanted to see him as soon as possible.

Sonic walked with them through the trees until they reached Mobotropolis and there were whispers from the citizens as they noticed Sonic and he smiled and waved to them; the mutterings from them as he had gotten a reputation as a troublemaker.

He was taken to the fancy looking palace and shown inside, he was told to wait outside the throne room and from one of the doors out came a 15 year old brown haired chipmunk Mobian with red hair, a tiara, a red dress, gloves and light blue wristbands. "Well if it isn't Sonic; did you make another mess that my brother had to clean up?" the girl asked halfway between amused and chiding; the girl being Princess Sally Acorn the younger sister of King Elias.

Sonic then took her hand to mockingly kiss and she sighed as he said "I may or may not have Princess; were you practicing your sparring with your fancy wrist sword thingies?" Sally then summoned light blue blades from the wristbands and showed some some impressive fighting stances and Sonic thought that she looked cooler than he thought princesses should be like.

Sonic was then told he could enter the throne room and sitted on the throne was the red haired now 22 year old King Elias in his blue royal jacket with a face and posture that screamed 'you really made us have to go through this again?'.

"Your highness; I just want to point out that your fancy statue was being vandalised and a symbol of peace when the anniversary of 10 years of the end of the War is coming up!" Sonic decided to start as Elias sighed.

"Yes; the fact that a couple of my citizens would do such a thing is annoying but so is having to sign off on having an entire convenient store fixed up and paying to have their entire stock replaced! Another on the list of incidents and the money spent fixing everything since you decide to try and be a hero!" Elias said as he got up and walked up to him.

"Okay I may... Have a slight tendency to... Go overboard..." Sonic retorted with his arms folded as Elias shook his head.

"You are reckless Sonic and being a hero is about being responsible and not just do whatever you think will come to your head without thinking of the consequences... Do you really think this is fun for me to have to call you over to have these talks and to clean up your messes? You know I have the Captain of the Guard and advisors that want me to just lock you up as a menace to the kingdom!" Elias told him sternly before calming down.

"...Okay I... I just want to help since I have this super speed and I want to use my powers to do some good and be helpful... To not be helpless to do anything..." Sonic muttered looking away.

"You remember feeling helpless when those robots invaded and destroyed your home, watching them claim your family before they took you to be a test subject for the human scientists... You saw them using those animals as batteries... You want to use what they did to you for good... You feel alone after that day..." Elias said softly as Sonic was taken aback and looked at him with a glare.

"You really think you get me your highness..." Sonic retorted as Elias put his hand on his shoulder.

"Sonic; I know what it's like to have your entire life turned upside down thanks to the War when you were too young to process it all... I was younger than you are now when I watched my father killed before my very eyes by that human assassin, I saw it and couldn't process it before I was taken away for my saftey. I only had at most 2 hours to grieve before I was told that I was to take the Throne as father's successor when I had only barely started the lessons to get me ready for any such responsibility! I was expected to lead this kingdom through the War and we may have lost badly if my father's plan to search for the Chaos Emeralds was successful and it was brought for us. I was lucky that all I had to do to turn the tide for the the War was okay continuing the plan that my father had set up; otherwise I would just be the temporary King that would sign the surrender as Charlemagne expected. Both of us had our childhoods robbed from us..." Elias said as Sonic was silent at this.

"When you put it that way... I will try and stay out of trouble..." Sonic replied causing a scoff from Captain Armand D'Coolette of the Royal Guard with Elias giving a glare to him.

"Thanks Sonic; how about you come and join us as a guest on the 10 year War end anniversary gala? You can learn some responsibility and we can make sure there is an eye kept on you during the occasion." suggested Elias as Sonic left saying that he won't regret it.

"You should probably already regret it your highness." Armand commented as Elias sighed.

Days later in the palace's ballroom there was the 10 year anniversary gala with important diplomats from both the Kingdom of Acorn and the United Federation plus some guests from other lands. Sonic was standing at a corner looking bored having grabbed a tie from his father's old wardrobe and put it on. Sonic noticed Elias talking with now former United Federation President Bushnell and current President Naka.

Sonic saw Sally coming up to him; "Do you think that I am underdressed?" Sonic asked looking at the fancy clothes of the attendees of the gala.

"I am actually surprised you even put on that tie... Oh no Antoine..." Sally answered and then groaned as then came a 15 year old coyote Mobian in a blue military jacket; Antoine D'Coolette the son of Captain D'Coolette and a cadet in the Royal Guard.

"Princess Sally; may I trouble you with a dance..." Antoine asked putting on what he thought was a romantic tone of voice and bowed taking Sally's hand with her hoping to do something else.

Sonic then took Sally's hands and said "sorry Antoine but Sal here already asked me to dance..." Antoine grumbled in shock as Sally whispered to Sonic thanking him for the safe while amused at his use of a little nickname.

Sonic did his best to waltz with Sally when there was Captain Armand and guards bursting in; "King Elias... Your highness... The city is under attack by robots... We need to get you all out of here..." Armand said as they looked at the windows and saw the people under attack fleeing by the flying and ground drones and soon flying drones came through the windows.

The guests looked on in terror as Sonic and Sally went to hide behind a table as they saw a figure go through the broken window piloting a flying pod vehicle. He was a smirking bald headed man with a brown bushy moustache, goggles, black gloves and a black and dark red high collared jacket. "Sonic; who do you think this clown is..." Sally whispered to Sonic but from looking at his face he had vision flashbacks of looking at the Eggman Industries logo on the door before going through it.

"I hope you don't mind letting myself and my Badnik army in because I think that my invitation must have gotten lost in the mail!" the man said as from the pod there was a claw that grabbed Elias by the hand and pulled him in.

"Elias! Let my brother go!" snapped Sally making herself known as the guards tried to pull her to safety but Sonic looked up defiant at the man and had a it of familiarity with the man's face and not just the resemblance to the logo, his voice was also recognisable.

"So if it isn't the king's baby sister and... You! That blasted hedgehog... Sonic; isn't it? I remember you, do you remember the great Dr Julian Robotnik?" the man asked as Sonic glared hard recognising the man as the former lead scientist of the now long defunct Eggman Industries.

Sally has her usual design but along with using the wrist blades from the Post-SGW Archie Sonic; at least for now she has the red dress from the Sonic SatAM concept art. President Naka is named after Sonic creator Yuji Naka and now the Sonic movie 2 look for Robotnik with movie inspired Badniks.
